Who are the Global Metal Apocalypse team?
Unlike Anonymous we prefer to unveil our identities and let the world know we are here to stay, no we are not political, but we care about the politics behind the music, law's of riffs, courts of drums, etc. However we are a truly dedicated team working around the clock to deliver the most up to date news, reviews, interviews and article pieces to our dear fellow readers. We do not support any political entity or regime, or ideology even though we openly admit we have reviewed NSBM bands before. We believe the music should do the talking not the ideology behind the lyrics or musician.
Started on the 7th May 2011, the Global Metal Apocalypse is the international collaboration of metal music developed by Rhys Stevenson, a music journalist and Business Management student. It is now a multinational website with contributors from all walks of life, the website has already reached over to 179 countries and just over 56,500 hits on the main page alone.
Come 2012 and the Global Metal Apocalypse website hosted it's first live online GMA awards to good success, forwarding onto 2013 and it was time to expand the team further into various nations and dependencies to increase our international scope.
2013 bore witness to our second GMA Awards which also received notable press coverage on websites in Botswana and Indonesia.
2014 is currently seeing GMA at it's peak so far through releasing via No Remorse Records (Gibraltar) one digital compilation featuring well over 100 bands from various countries, regions and genres. This raised around £100 for the GSPCA (Gibraltar's equivalent to the UK's RSPCA). Currently awaiting the release of our next compilation covering Spanish Metal bands.
We were also nominated for 2 awards at the UK Blog Awards 2014 - Arts & Culture and 18-25 (Organization), the awards had 900 starting nominees and was weeded down via public vote to 200 (10 in each category).
The future looks global...
