February 2013 saw the lads from Hertfordshire lock themselves away in Chapel Studios, Lincolnshire with producer Dan Weller (previously in the chair for the band's 2012 UK top 5 and end-of-year poll shattering album 'A Flash Flood Of Colour'), fresh from their Euro tour the band felt it was time to lay down the sounds once again and armed with an armada of demos the subsequential developments that followed thereafter promoted @danweller to take to Twitter to proclaim the results as the best work the band has ever produced.
March 2013 saw all of the sessions head down under to Australian producer, mixer and two-time ARIA award nominee Forrester Savell (Karnivool / Dead Letter Circus) commenced the second mixing of the tracks, whilst back home the band and director Jamie Korn set up the equipment to shoot the bands new music video. In April 2013, on the eve of a month-long UK, the band will release the first fruits of their previous two month's endeavors. Entitled "The Paddington Frisk" (the name given to the 'dance' performed by the twitching bodies of poor wretches fighting for life as they hung from the gallows at Tyburn), the first track to be unveiled ventures to the less frequently heard extremes of the Shikari sound, as the lads conjure up the hardcore-punk-rooted corner of their influences to deliver a short, sharp shock that once again establishes their position as a band impossible to second guess and unwilling to be pinned down. Enter Shikari once again take the only sensible option and veer sharply off-road altogether, mapping their own path and kicking up far too much dust to make it even worth looking behind to see if anyone's following. "The Paddington Frisk" will be let loose on the evening on Thursday 4th April via iTunes, YouTube and www.entershikari.com. More details will be available nearer the time. Further ahead in May, the CD + DVD set "Live At The Barrowland. Bootleg Series Vol.5" will be released and as the name suggests, this is the fifth in an ongoing series of limited edition live releases made available directly from the band's web-store. This edition was recorded and filmed at Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom during Enter Shikari's Dec 2012 "A Flash Flood Of Xmas" tour. Pre-orders will be able to be made very soon. On the same day as the release of "The Paddington Frisk", Enter Shikari will tour the UK once again, the 'Return To Energiser 2013' tour is a month-long jaunt, focussing for the most part (a couple of notable exceptions) on towns and cities that do not often find themselves troubled by rock tours of any note. The tour also features rising UK grime / tech-metal outfit Hacktivist as support, with a selection of Britain's most exciting young rock artists opening various dates along the way (see below for more details of that). For one special 'hometown' (or near-as-dammit, given the options are very very limited) show at Hatfield Forum, Herts (where all profits from the night will be donated to anti-poverty charity ActionAidUK) the bill is joined by longtime friends and fellow Hertfordshire boys Don Broco, as well as local legends the very mighty JBM. BBC Radio One DJ, ActionAid Ambassador, and all round good guy Huw Stephens will compare the evenings entertainment. This tour will be the band's last extended stint of UK headline shows for quite some time, with the remainder of the year filled by grappling with writing for album #4, playing summer festivals across Europe and the UK (including headlining the Second Stage at 2013's Download Festival. The band's biggest festival appearance of their career thus far), and focussing on their personal lives for a short while.
