Iconic doom-bringers, The Obsessed, will kick off their first tour in over a decade tonight in Washington, DC. The long-anticipated trek will run through two dozen cities, coming to a close on June 11th in Atlanta, Georgia. Additional support will be provided by The Atomic Bitchwax and Karma To Burn. Forged in 1976 in Maryland and led by the inimitable Scott "Wino" Weinrich (who'd go on to front Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, Place Of Skulls, The Hidden Hand, and more), The Obsessed weathered various line up shifts and an on-again-off-again status over the course of a winding, forty-year history. The band released three now-legendary full-lengths -- 1990's "The Obsessed", 1991's "Lunar Womb", and 1994's "The Church Within" - as well as a gaggle of seven-inch singles and compilation appearances. The Obsessed is Weinrich alongside long-time partner Dave Sherman (Spirit Caravan, Earthride) and drummer Brian Constantino (a former The Obsessed drum tech). The line-up is currently writing material and will hit the studio immediately after the tour for an as-yet-untitled new full-length set for an Autumn 2016 release. 5/13/2016 Black Cat - Washington, DC 5/14/2016 Altar Bar - Pittsburgh, PA 5/15/2016 Golden Pony - Harrisonburg, VA 5/16/2016 Saint Vitus Bar - Brooklyn, NY 5/18/2016 Strange Matter - Richmond, VA 5/19/2016 Kung Fu Necktie - Philadelphia, PA 5/20/2016 V Club - Huntington, WV 5/21/2016 5th Quarter Lounge - Indianapolis, IN 5/22/2016 The Beat Kitchen - Chicago, IL 5/23/2016 7th Street Entry - Minneapolis, MN 5/24/2016 Rock Island Brewing Co. - Rock Island, IL 5/25/2016 Fubar - Saint Louis, MO 5/26/2016 Riot Room - Kansas City, MO 5/28/2016 3 Kings Tavern - Denver, CO 5/31/2016 Dante's - Portland, OR 6/02/2016 Slim's - San Francisco, CA 6/03/2016 The Complex - Los Angeles, CA 6/04/2016 Brick By Brick - San Diego, CA 6/05/2016 Club Red - Mesa, AZ 6/07/2016 Dirty Dog - Austin, TX 6/08/2016 Tom Cat's West - Fort Worth, TX 6/09/2016 Walter's - Houston, TX 6/10/2016 Siberia - New Orleans, LA 6/11/2016 Drunken Unicorn - Atlanta, GA http://www.facebook.com/TheObsessedOfficial As part of a series of live appearances to mark the band's 20th Anniversary, Shining will hit the road in December along with Norwegian Black Metal titans Taake. Check out the event promo here:- https://www.facebook.com/events/1786000158288254/ Global Metal Apocalypse covered Mysterious Eclipse back in 2014:- "One of Slovakia's long standing metal bands Mysterious Eclipse, has taken a unique turn in how to get your music out to the masses.... by CD trading. Formed in 1996, the quintet have maintained a recognized brand image throughout their career within the underground metal scene. Since their inception they have release one demo (1998), one MCD (1999) and four other major releases (2005, 2008, 2010, 2013) including 2013's "Hell Of Pain". Fronted by Peta Kity Siazikov, this Melodic Black / Death Metal outfit are a gem within the Central European nation and certainly are well worth trading with. This idea may be in place already, but the whole idea of it is great for those bands who are separated by mountains, vast seas, you name it, the whole idea is a great way to get music out to overseas bands, sure the online sharing is obvious. With the release of "A New Dawn" and their recent tours last month in both Finland and the UK, Dakesis are set to reach new heights. Dakesis are a four piece Progressive Power Metal band from Birmingham, UK. Formed in 2008, with the release of a limited edition four track E.P they soon followed on with their debut album "Trial By Fire" in 2011 to much critical acclaim. Following on from their success of this album and extensive touring and festival appearances throughout the UK, the band went on to record their second full length album "The New Dawn" which was released in March 2016. Their latest release was recorded at Carbon Studios in Birmingham and mixed by Nino Laurenne at Sonic Pump Studios based in Finland (Ensiferum, Wintersun, Stratovarious and Firewind) and sees a marked change in the direction of the band. With more progressive influences and the addition of powerfully epic orchestral backing alongside new session keyboard player Jacob Underwood, Dakesis have sculpted a vast instrumental soundscape alongside the heavier metal influences. The band have toured the UK extensively and have enjoyed prestigious support and festival slots including playing with Edguy, Thunderstone, Blaze Bayley and Pagan’s Mind and performing at Glastonbudget, Bloodstock Open Air 2012, Valkyrian Festival and headlining the Cackblabbath Stage at Wildfire Festival in 2015. Halestorm are known for being one of the hardest-working bands in the world. Halestorm’s relentless touring and songwriting has seen them sell millions of albums worldwide. Lzzy and her brother Arejay founded the band in 1997, aged just 13 and 9 respectively. Playing live from the get-go, their dad was their original bassist. Their unwavering dedication to their art has seen them pick up numerous awards, including a Grammy in 2013 for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. Currently on a world tour, they are reported to play more than 250 shows a year, and 2016 is no exception. They released their third album, ‘Into The Wild Life’, to huge critical acclaim in 2015, with Metal Hammer giving it 8 out of 10, declaring it “an absolute knockout” and predicting “world domination seems inevitable”. Halestorm are the second band to be announced for what will be one of the most exciting live lineups of the year. They will be playing a selection of Motörhead and Saxon songs in a UK-exclusive set. Lzzy Hale says, "We are so excited to be attending and performing at the Golden God Awards! This will be no ordinary event. There's voodoo in the air and the rock’n’roll gods will smile upon all of us that day! We plan on making them proud and getting real loud! See you all there!" Alexander Milas, Editor-in-Chief of Metal Hammer Magazine and TeamRock Executive Director, says, "The Golden Gods are more than just an award show – they're a party we throw for the people who've supported us for all this time. We couldn't be more pleased to add Halestorm to the bill, a phenomenal live band who've dwelled in our pages since the beginning and are guaranteed to shake the Eventim Apollo to the rafters. We've more big news to come, so if you're thinking of coming down you'd best get your skates on. No sleep ’til Metal Hammersmith!" There are two ways to be part of this incredible show.
