Dear marks the band’s 25th year of existence and while the 10-track album is chock-full of early-Boris calling cards, the avant-garde ravens aren’t learning on old tricks, describing the album as “heavenly—far beyond heavy.” Boris have shared the album’s first single and magnificent new music video “Absolutego”.
Though Boris have traversed a broad swath of sonic territories, they have always been consistently embraced the excess, pushing their myriad of approaches and stylistic forays to points of intoxicating absurdity. Eventually the band reached a crossroads in the early years of their third decade together, leaving them wondering if there were any new horizons left to explore. The renewed vitality yielded an album that fortifies their monolithic wall of sound while also allowing the individual band members to explore the nuances and intricacies of minimalist riffs played at maximum volume.
Songwriting for Dear initially yielded three albums’ worth of material by the end of 2015, but as the band was slated to spend a large chunk of 2016 on their “Performing Pink” worldwide tour, they decided to hold off on releasing any new material. The tour further rekindled their passion for the craft, spurring the band to return home to crank out even more new material while scaling down three records’ worth of sonic deluge down to one.
From the glacial pacing and earthquaking rumble of the album opener to the smouldering rock ’n roll-infused “Absolutego”, Boris have managed to find wildly thrilling work in the familiar trenches of metal. Never ones to shy away from a challenge, the trio carves even experiments with fuzz fuelled dream pop. “At the very first moment, this album began as some kind of potential farewell note of Boris,” the band said. “However, it became a sincere letter to fans and listeners… you know, like ‘Dear so-and-so, this is the new album from Boris’ or something like that. We feel so grateful we can release this album in our 25th anniversary year.”
Dear will be released to the world on July 14, 2017 on CD, 2xLP, and digital formats. Stay tuned for more news to come.

We are also ecstatic to reunite with John Gallow (Blizaro, Orodruin), a great friend and a huge inspiration and influence, and finally see the almighty Blizaro live! Pilgrim will be playing in support of their latest album, "II: Void Worship". Iconic doom-bringers, The Obsessed, will kick off their first tour in over a decade tonight in Washington, DC. The long-anticipated trek will run through two dozen cities, coming to a close on June 11th in Atlanta, Georgia. Additional support will be provided by The Atomic Bitchwax and Karma To Burn.
Forged in 1976 in Maryland and led by the inimitable Scott "Wino" Weinrich (who'd go on to front Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, Place Of Skulls, The Hidden Hand, and more), The Obsessed weathered various line up shifts and an on-again-off-again status over the course of a winding, forty-year history. The band released three now-legendary full-lengths -- 1990's "The Obsessed", 1991's "Lunar Womb", and 1994's "The Church Within" - as well as a gaggle of seven-inch singles and compilation appearances. The Obsessed is Weinrich alongside long-time partner Dave Sherman (Spirit Caravan, Earthride) and drummer Brian Constantino (a former The Obsessed drum tech). The line-up is currently writing material and will hit the studio immediately after the tour for an as-yet-untitled new full-length set for an Autumn 2016 release.

On a warm summers evening, in the concrete jungle of Camden's abyss, three bands were about to let rip on the unsuspecting local civilization.
Two wallowing figures soon emerged on stage being watched by those attending The Fiddlers Elbow, this duo were 5 Lives left whose unique style of rock was running wild with different influences here and there. Sure the drummer was giving his all as if he was high on matured crack, hitting everything in sight and luckily not breaking the drum kit. Whilst the crowd clearly appreciated their performance with the unsuspected encore, the vocals at times were dire and seemingly need a lot of work done to improve this, not only that but the guitarist who was also in charge of vocals lacked motion and to some extent emotion. It was a hard time to decipher what this duo were capable of and frankly some nearby felt they would find answers in downing a bottle of beer, it was going to be a long night.

Suddenly the temperature seemed to drop greatly, as if outside the sun had blown out or the fridge door was left wide open to allow a cold and bitter atmosphere to freeze everything in sight, literally the crowd were rooted to the spot when Melodic Death / Doom Metallers Spectral Darkwave shafted out their cunning and eloquent dramatis persona that welcomed them to induct impromptu after impromptu via extravagant music playing. This may well be a huge step for the London boys but the best is sure to come in the future, it is early days but this trio could well be a promising act from the deepest and darkest sewers in the underground algorithm that is leading many unsigned bands in the UK to being justly recognized.

< One Final Stitch message was black and white, they were born to rock
The final act of the evening was One Final Stitch, a no-nonsense hard rock band tinged with what they call 'Girl Metal', hailing from the back streets of Ockendon, they brought another killer performance given due this was their first live show in London, accidentally headlining (headliner pulled out) and 2nd gig overall. Since their first gig at Southend Chinnerys a couple or so weeks back, the fearsome foursome have excelled in making their music more tighter, more meaningful and with added grit, grisliness and good ole fashion rock 'n' roll. During their set they unleashed now tracks, some of which were so powerful Camden was lucky not to suffer window explosions let alone earth tremors let off by this Teutonic musical machine. As they ground into the dirt and delivered sting after sting, the crowd roared with excitement and appraisal, not only had the band done the remarkable at performing sensationally well at their second gig, but more so in London as their 2nd overall gig. However the show was not complete as it did not feature any 'this is what happens when the lights go down' jokes.
