American metalcore outfit Pistacia revisit the heyday of emo with new single “It Was The Cat”10/9/2022 Boston’s Pistacia is bringing forth a new brand of metalcore with their debut EP “Edgy”. Through personal and poignant lyrics they confront relatable issues set to emotional and powerful music. So far, they have released a handful of singles, and the next one up is “It Was The Cat”, focusing on self-harm. Making music for people who are scared and voiceless is their passion and they are not afraid to get specific about what happens in the mind of the mentally ill. On this single, they offer hope and understanding and a flashback to the days when people used the explanation that “the cat did it” in reference to marks on their arms. The band explains the creation of the single: “The single began almost accidentally; Ben and Théo were in Florida on tour with their former band, exhausted from the road and performance, and aching to write some new music that would reflect the artistic changes they’d undergone as a result. Ben cracked away at that which he does best: writing filthy hardcore riffs and Théo took initiative to make as poppy a chorus arrangement as possible. Years later, the track was revived and Vic worked her magic, pouring her anguish and rage into finely tuned stanzas that packed punch. They entered a Berklee rehearsal room with sketches, with the makings of a metal banger, and left with the instantiation of their ardor”. Pistacia formed when vocalist Vic Gregg desired to be on stage instead of behind the merch booth. Fuelled by passion and a desire to realize her high school dreams, she learned how to scream and put the line-up together with her classmates. They started as a Pierce the Veil ensemble but later began writing originals. To date, they have released five singles, and are gearing up to release their EP in the fall. They promise that each of the tracks on it are full-fledged bangers that will provoke and challenge the listener. “It Was The Cat” is heavy in both lyrics and music and boasts sick breakdowns and the most 2007 chorus since MySpace reigned the internet. It's catchy and will have you dancing regardless of the dark imagery. It is recommended for fans of Pierce the Veil, Slipknot, and Bring Me the Horizon. “Edgy” is out on October 21, 2022.

Dutch melodic death / metalcore faction For I Am King are back with their new single 'Liars'3/9/2022 Dutch metal band For I Am King make a staggering return with new single ‘Liars’, which is their first release in four years. Their previous (and most recent) musical achievement was 2018's sophomore album 'I', the follow-up to 2016's debut album 'Daemons'. The release of 'Liars' also comes with the new and exciting addition of drummer Ivo Maarhuis (ex-Izegrim). Check out the accompanying music video below. "The past few years have been strange for all of us. The constant uncertainty about whether or not shows would go through, took a heavy toll on us. Yet, this period has also given us the space to work hard on new music and take the time to do so. This resulted in our best, hardest and most detailed work to date. We can now look forward to a period full of live shows and new music with a lot of enthusiasm", guitarist Koen Scheepens explains. "The release of 'Liars' symbolises the beginning of a new era for us. We are leaving the pandemic behind us and starting a new fantastic chapter: we are back and going harder than ever!", vocalist Alma Alizadeh adds. Since their formation in 2013, For I Am King have released two albums ('Daemons' in 2016 and 'I' from 2018) both of which received international acclaim from fans and critics alike. They have played countless shows worldwide including in Japan, China and Europe, plus a number of high profile festivals such as, Jera On Air, Wacken, Zwarte Cross, Metal Days, Eurosonic-Noorderslag, FortaRock, Full Force and more. Arising Empire is proud to announce that English metalcore act Our Hollow, Our Home has signed to the label. Our Hollow, Our Home dropped their third album Burn In The Flood earlier this year. "We're super stoked to join the AE family," the band says. "We always said that we would love to sign with a label, so long as it was one that understood the ethos of this band, and loved it as much as we and our fans do! It's safe to say that we felt that was met with ample amounts with Arising Empire." The band has shared the video for "Battle X City," featuring Samantha Bower of Lightwave. Watch it here and here. Lyrically, the song traverses a constant struggle of trying to make something you believe in succeed, whiles the rest of the world tries to convince you that it's doomed to fail. The track finds Our Hollow, Our Home adding guest clean vocals for the first time, "which is a refreshing and innovative touch to this riff-heavy, feel good thrill ride of a track," says singer Connor Hallisey. OH, OH have toured with Asking Alexandria and Blessthefall, and enjoyed high-profile slots at festivals such as Graspop, Nova Rock, Summerblast, and Jera On Air. The band was boosted by a hugely popular cover of Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" back in 2017, which was picked up by BBC Radio One's Greg James and subsequently topped the iTunes UK rock and metal chart, and racked up over 300,000 plays on YouTube during its first week of release. For a band that has handled its own operations internally, without the help of major label or industry backing until now, these are impressive stats and a testament to the devotion Our Hollow, Our Home have to their craft. But it's more than just the numbers. It’s the way in which people and fans have connected with the band. Be it the lyrical content, the staunchly DIY approach, the high-energy live shows, or the down-to-earth attitude, Our Hollow, Our Home are not forced or faked. Our Hollow, Our Home are:

Despite all odds and the horrors the war caused in their home country, the band is locked and loaded to release their new single, “DNA molecule in a million of dimensions”, along with an official video today! The unstoppable four-piece convinces with an exciting, high-energy modern sound, providing a taste of what’s to come on their upcoming album, IMAGO, out September 23 via Napalm Records - proving they are truly irrepressible! Electrifying “DNA molecule in a million of dimensions” transcends between colourful electronics, brutalizing vocals and trance-like synth - exploring elements of djent, hip-hop and even hyper pop influence along the way. Just like their thrilling and undeniably fresh second studio album, IMAGO, the single exceeds all expectations, leaving listeners wanting for more. Space Of Variations on “DNA molecule in a million of dimensions”: “We choose the track DNA because it’s heavy, dark and hypnotic sound mirrors the sad state of our feelings personally during these dark times as individuals and for the country we live in. The war has revealed so many things about our lives and have stripped down our every day lives right down to the last molecule. We have come to accept this new reality but will do everything in our power to come out better versions of ourselves in the end…” The band also recently launched their Patreon, which gives fans a chance to support Space Of Variations directly. Space Of Variations online: Birmingham, UK metal quintet Oceans Ate Alaska — James Harrison [vocals], Chris Turner [drums], James "Jibs" Kennedy [guitar], Adam Zytkiewicz [guitar], and Mike Stanton [bass] — have announced their new album Disparity, out on the 1st of September 2022 via Fearless Records. Pre-order it here. Now, the band has shared the video for the new song "Nova." Watch it here. "In an overcrowded and oppressive modern society, it is all too easy to fall under pressure; collapse inwardly until self-destruct," the band says. "'Nova' develops on the aggressive themes that were smashed into the metal world as of recent with 'New Dawn.' Doubling down on chaotic rhythms, overlapping dissonance and vocal hooks that will get your fist pumping in the air. Nova mirrors the inner human disparity, and has you banging your f***ing head to it." OAA previously dropped the single "New Dawn," which was hailed by Revolver as "If this is the sound a new dawn, then we are fucked. The latest from U.K. metal crew... packs a disgusting amount of sludgy heaviness into a concise minute and 48 seconds. Don't look for any of the pretty, melodic hooks of its predecessor, 2020 single 'Metamorph.' This is unfiltered nihilism." It was also lauded as "ridiculously heavy" by Rock Sound. Oceans Ate Alaska have carefully and quietly progressed to this point. Following their 2015 debut Lost Isles, they presented Hikari in 2017. The song "Hansha" amassed over 12 million Spotify streams as the album surpassed 40 million total streams. Upon arrival, New Noise Magazine raved, "Optimistic, empowering, and mesmerizing, Oceans Ate Alaska’s bold sophomore album is a true progressive metalcore triumph." Along the way, they toured with the likes of Wage War, The Plot In You, We Came As Romans, Like Moths to Flames, and more. Throughout 2021, they assembled what would become Disparity. Inspired by a mutual love for the likes of Bonobo and Alina Baraz, collaborator Clem Cherry enhanced the production with airy beat-craft and immersive sonic accents. At the same time, they absorbed the unease of the world, infusing a post-apocalyptic thematic undercurrent. In the end, Oceans Ate Alaska encode an important message inside of Disparity. "For us, it's about uplifting listeners," Harrison says. "We want them to feel empowered to realize they can be the change they want. It's still what we're doing. It's been a long time since we put out an album, but we're here." Indeed it has been a minute since the last OAA album but it was entirely worth the wait. Brisbane metal act Slaves Of Dissonance are set to release their debut EP "Toxoplasmosis" on the 12th August. The first single, "Involuntary Lobotomy" was recently released, a crushing debut track that details people misleading and exploiting others, based on their faith, for ulterior motives. The track is available on all major streaming platforms and on Bandcamp: https://slavesofdissonance.bandcamp.com/track/involuntary-lobotomy Borrowing influences from such acts as Lamb Of God, Gojira and At The Gates, the bands sound can be described as having groovy / technical guitar riffs, high energy beats with shattering blasts and powerful grooves and ear piercing vocals. All members have uniquely different tastes ranging from thrash / groove or prog to more extreme styles like black metal / death metal resulting in Slaves of Dissonance creating a unique metal sound all of their own. Furthermore, some of the band members work in social / psychological science fields and utilize those experiences for eye opening lyrical content such as mental health disorders, government conspiracies, brainwashing media organizations and misleading, exploitative faith groups.

Randall Blythe. "It’s a very pissed-off record.” He pauses for emphasis. “It is extremely pissed-off.” The New Wave Of American Heavy Metal architects tracked Omens at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California, a location that birthed classics from The Doors, The Ramones, and Soundgarden, among others. "The inner workings of the band have never been better,” explains guitarist Mark Morton. “You can hear it in Omens. Counterparts are back. The Hamilton, Ontario-based metalcore heavyweights have announced their upcoming full-length, "A Eulogy For Those Still Here", due out October 7th from Pure Noise Records. The record finds Counterparts tapping into a deep sense of uncertainty and dread and pushing their visceral sound to even greater extremes to make their most definitive statement yet. To mark the announcement, Counterparts have shared the album's first single "Unwavering Vow." Kicking off with a blast of pummelling drums and intricate riffing, the gut punch of a track offers a ground-shaking introduction to "A Eulogy For Those Still Here". After two minutes of intense aggression the song pauses for a brief respite of haunting atmosphere, then hurtles into one of the most crushing breakdowns the band have ever written.
Since forming in 2007, Counterparts–made up of vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarists Alex Re and Jesse Doreen, bassist Tyler Williams, and drummer Kyle Brownlee–have gone from underdogs to a globetrotting powerhouse in the world of aggressive music. Engineered / produced by Will Putney (Knocked Loose, Every Time I Die, Vein.fm), "A Eulogy For Those Still Here" finds Murphy at a crossroads, preoccupied with the inevitability of change and endings. “I think I deal with things by preparing myself for the end,” he explains. “With so much of this record I’m mourning the loss of someone that’s still alive or saying goodbye to something that hasn’t left yet.” The result is a high stakes record written as a true statement of intent–a mix of crushing heaviness and stark atmospherics that draws on everything Counterparts have been honing for the past 15 years. “All of these things I have are still a big part of my life but one day they won’t be, and I don’t want to be focusing on that instead of enjoying the time I have with them,” says Murphy. “Maybe I’m saying goodbye pre-emptively but I think it’s important to say goodbye while you can.” English electro nu-core mob Seething Akira drop their latest fiery single "Punishment Instructions"2/6/2022 Explosive. Bombastic. Defiant. Intense. Seething Akira continue to rampage forward with their gloriously turbulent nu-metal sound. Hot off the editorial success of their last album "Dysfunctional Wonderland" and with scheduled appearances at the Heavy Music Awards 2022 on June 5, Download Festival on June 9, and TECH-FEST on July 1st, comes the band's fiery latest single "Punishment Instructions." "'Punishment Instructions' expresses all facets, whether that be positive or negative, of hope, wish and desire," states Seething Akira. "The message expresses the loss of hope due to the uncontrollable actions of others. Punishment Instructions are the side effects of when these immoral actions are resisted." "Punishment Instructions" is a hard-hitting metal track that exemplifies everything fans love about the band. As the song's thought-provoking lyrics examine the effects of trying to resist when others are trying to strip all hope away from you, the heavy rhythms, featuring aggressive guitars, coupled with the aggressive vocals, only add fuel to the rebellious firestorm that is Seething Akira. Warning: This single may induce the urge to jump into your nearest mosh pit. Listen wisely, and use as directed. "Punishment Instructions" is out now from independent multi-genre music label FiXT. Explosive. Bombastic. Defiant. Intense. Seething Akira have developed a gloriously turbulent sound that is uniquely their own. Founded by vocalists Charlie Bowes and Kit Conrad, Seething Akira are a 6-piece electronic nu-core band hailing from the seafront city of Portsmouth, UK that have been tearing venues apart across Europe with their powerful fusion of genres since 2012. The band's first full-length album, "Sleepy Skeletor", dropped in 2018 and made it clear that Seething Akira would be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. In late 2020, the band launched a series of new singles leading up to their second album, the highly anticipated "Dysfunctional Wonderland". With the strength of the band's music and their popularity with fans rocketing skyward, they connected with electronic rock label FiXT and forged a partnership for their future releases. Seething Akira has been featured on the Rock Hard Spotify editorial list, while their single "Firepower" landed on Kerrang Radio and Scuzz. "I Am The Devil" and "The Islander" were both featured on BBC Introducing, and "The Islander" premiered on Soundsphere Magazine. At home and on the road, Seething Akira have also put their stamp on staple festivals such as Bloodstock, Victorious, Camden Rocks, and many more while touring with bands like The Qemists and The Algorithm. The band dropped the latest album "Dysfunctional Wonderland" in late 2021 and plan to begin releasing new singles in mid 2022. |
