Grace Disgraced are an ambitious, ever-evolving band from Russia. Rooted in the classic sound of Death, they've been rather overlooked all along, struggling to find labels with proper distribution networks. That hasn't stopped them from going all out when it comes to presenting their music - the songs on 'Lasting Afterdeaths' are nothing short of mini-epics, with the average song length being around 7-8 minutes; moreover, each song has an individual artwork to thoroughly convey the mood and expression of the song.
Mind-boggling progression and challenging technicality aside, the raw vocals of Polina add necessary brutality to the proceedings, bolstering the ever-sinuous and rhythmic nature of their music. Chuck Schuldiner would've been proud of their direction, for they don't wallow in the sound created by Death on their first two albums, but lean towards the experimental yet catchy style on their penultimate release, 'Symbolic'. Only a few bands have successfully taken the sound ahead, one being the underrated Cemetery (R.I.P.) from Germany (reissued on Memento Mori label) and the other being Grace Disgraced.
