Enter Shikari release 'Redshift (Live at Alexandra Palace)' video‏

Enter Shikari have unveiled a live video for recent single ‘Redshift’, recorded at the bands biggest headline show to date at London’s Alexandra Palace.

You can view the video here: https://youtu.be/frj7IR0sMww

Whilst plans were afoot to release the whole show visually in some way or another, technology had other ideas; and so the band members jumped in to salvage what they could, in the DIY fashion that has become their stock-in-trade.

We’ll let frontman Rou Reynolds elaborate :

“After such a spectacle, we decided to cobble together and edit the footage from the jumbotrons on the night. Unfortunately a lot of the crowd footage was warped and unusable, but we were only able to put together one great track rather a whole show, but we hope this'll give you's an idea of the energy on the night. As I edited the video, Rory and our engineer / foxy hunk Tim Morris edited the audio too. Being such a DIY tour  - programming the video screen content and 4.1 surround sound mix ourselves, for example - it seems only right and proper that we apply that approach to the documentation of the show too. Victory snatched from the jaws of defeat, and all that”.

Full audio from the show does, however, exist. It is currently at mixing stage and will move into the “what are we doing with it now we have it?” stage very soon.

Enter Shikari are spending the summer appearing at various European festivals (including a one-off 5000 capacity outdoor headline show in Budapest, Hungary), and will end their working year with tours of Japan & Australia, while demoing new material filling in the gaps in the diary.

The young pop singer has previously been featured in major UK publications such as The Metro, The Sun and The Daily Star. On top of this, she has performed alongside the likes of The Janoskians and Sammy Wilk, opening the esteemed social media concert Cinco 4 at the famous Avalon Hotel in Los Angeles earlier this year in May.

Already premiered on major teen news website Just Jared Jr, her new single comes accompanied by a wild slumber-party-themed video (co-produced by Skyler herself!) that perfectly captures the ‘girl power’ theme of the song

The 16-year-old sweetheart currently lives in Los Angeles, with roots in the sunny English seaside town of Bournemouth.

Aside from her main passion which is music, Skyler also has a keen interest in animals, volunteering in local rescue shelters. She is also a keen fan of British football, regularly waking up early to watch her favourite team, Arsenal, play.

Dedicated to interacting with her baseband through posts and YouTube videos, Skyler has amassed thousands of followers on both Twitter and Instagram. Her adoring teen fan-base spans both the UK and the US.

All this, plus the fact that she has already collaborated with Snoop Dogg at the age of 16 (plus co-produced her own music video), show that she is well on her way to becoming a star!

‘I Just Wanna Dance’ is out June 6th

USA's Robots & Monsters are to independently release their new EP‏

New Jersey-based metal / hardcore quartet, Robots & Monsters, will independently issue their new EP, "Nothing To Fear Nothing To Fight", the first week of September, while the band books shows through the Summer months in preparation of the record's release.

While the band is influenced by the music they grew up on -- Anthrax, Slayer, Nuclear Assault, and other key figureheads of the 1980's / 90's thrash metal explosion -- Robots & Monsters owns a sound that deftly combines the commanding crunch of metal with the groove, punch, and emotion of hardcore and post-hardcore, a trait which finds the band comfortably sharing bills populated with any type of aggressive music.

The follow-up to their 2015-released debut album, "Down To Ash" -- which was a "Pick of the Week" on That Metal Show and debuted at #23 on CMJ's Loud Rock chart -- the upcoming Robots & Monsters EP "Nothing To Fear Nothing To Fight" follows a concept about battling your own mind, the theme backed by high-energy metal and dosed with old-school hardcore. The seven-song storyline was recorded at Portrait Recording Studios with engineer John Ferrara, and mastered by Chris Badami, and features art by bassist Bill Bergmann.

Robots & Monsters will independently release the "Nothing To Fear Nothing To Fight" EP on CD and digital formats September 2nd; pre-orders are available via the band HERE with pre-orders via all standard digital carriers to be available in the coming days, alongside audio samples from the record and more.

Nothing To Fear Nothing To Fight Track Listing:

1. King Of The World
2. Passenger
3. Communique
4. Never Again
5. No One Ever Does
6. Surgery Day
7. Signing Off

The band has several shows booked throughout the state and beyond over the Summer months -- including a set at this weekend's NJ Metalfest II hosted by Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth, a show in Brooklyn supporting All Out War in August, and more -- with more one-off shows and widespread tour dates to be added.

Robots & Monsters Live:

6/25/2016 Dingbatz - Clifton, NJ @ NJ Metalfest [info]
8/06/2016 33 Golden Street - New London, CT

L.A. rockers Budderside will release their new album via Motörhead Music / UDR‏

24/6/2016

Picture
"Budderside" Track Listing:

  1. Genocide
  2. Ska Bra (feat. Motörhead's Phil Campbell)
  3. Pain
  4. X-Girlfriend
  5. Clear Blue Sky
  6. Open Relationship
  7. My Religion
  8. The Enevelope
  9. Let This One Breathe
  10. Can't Wrap My Head Around You

Doused in the (street) waters of Los Angeles, California, gritty hard rockers Budderside are fronted by Patrick Stone, who was with the likes of Quiet Riot, Velvet Revolver and Adler's Appetite before realizing the ultimate dream of his own band and singing his own songs to the world. Enter Michael "The Stoneman" Stone on bass, Rich Sacco on drums and Johnny Santoro, (Still Standing, Rock Sugar) on guitar to form a rock-solid band of brothers with instantly unbreakable bonds.

Budderside manager Todd Singerman of Singerman Entertainment (Motörhead) ensured the band went into Rosewood Strat Studio with producer Paul Inder Kilmister (son of Lemmy Kilmister). And the result is a searing-hot, self-titled debut album Budderside, which is due for release on July 29, 2016 via Motörhead Music / UDR. Pre-orders will be available soon, which will come in digipak, digital download and streaming formats.

Take a look at the video for Budderside's first single "Pain" now via YouTube: https://youtu.be/V48Li8Rqi9A

In the video, we see a gym janitor making eyes at a female boxer, who of course knocks him out. A daydream of unlikely grandeur ensues - chock full of scantily-clad vixens boxing one another and a full on Budderside concert in the ring! But is this really a daydream? Watch the video to find out!

Budderside vocalist Patrick Stone's drive and verve come from a need to make sense of all life's challenges - politics, sex, philosophy, rage, love, light, sound, senses - and express them all with one unifying current racing through it all - electricity, and Stone is far from encumbered by any perceived 'limitations' of a rock band more than he is empowered by the freedom to explore.

That seeker-spirit sees Budderside go from the thick, thumping, leather-clad rock riffery of "The Envelope" to the ska-tinted mobility of "Ska-Bra" which also features Motörhead's Phil Campbell on guitar. There's the bendy, grungy intoxication of "X-Girlfriend", the big-stage orchestral grandiosity of "Can't Wrap My Head Around You" and the thicker, space-fuzzy buzz-riff of "Open Relationship"... which all serve to say that whatever sonic broadsword Budderside want to swing, they swing with freedom and verve.

Maynard James Keenan authorized biography due for 8th Nov release

Last October, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Maynard James Keenan, frontman of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer, and accomplished winemaker, let on that, in addition to his many other projects, he was working with writer/editor and long-time friend Sarah Jensen on an authorized biography.

That interview fostered feverish speculation within the many online realms populated by Keenan’s fans and followers. A mere glimpse of the cover at online bookselling sites early this year led to a pre-ordering frenzy months ahead of the book’s arrival.

Until now, Keenan’s fans have had access to only an abridged version of his story. That all will change with the release of "A Perfect Union of Contrary Things" (Nov. 8, 2016, Backbeat Books, $29.99).

As Keenan explained to Rolling Stone, “There's always that perception that whatever you've done that's the largest media-friendly thing in your life, where the world came to know of you, there's a perception that there was no life before, and that you were nothing before. There's a lot of stuff that went on in my life that nobody really knows about. So I feel like this is the chance to show the patterns, tell a story.”

Jensen, who has known Keenan for three decades, rolls out that untold story chronicling his journey from his Midwest childhood to his years in the Army to his time in art school, from his stint at a Boston pet shop to his place in the international spotlight and his influence on the disparate fields of contemporary music and regional winemaking. The result is a comprehensive portrayal of a versatile and dedicated artist that pays homage to the people and places that shaped the man and his art.

"A Perfect Union of Contrary Things" presents the out takes, the scenes of disappointment and triumph, and the events that led him to take one step after the next, to change direction, to explore sometimes surprising opportunities. Included throughout are passages in Keenan’s own words, often humorous anecdotes that illuminate the narrative. There is also commentary by his family members, friends, instructors, and industry colleagues. The book also features a foreword by Alex Grey, an American visionary artist and long-time friend of Keenan.

Featuring photos of Keenan from childhood to today, "A Perfect Union of Contrary Things" presents Maynard James Keenan’s story as a metaphor for the reader’s own evolution and an encouragement to follow our dreams, hold fast to individual integrity, and work ceaselessly to fulfil our creative potential.
