Canterbury, one of the most beloved UK rock bands, released their sophomore album 'Heavy In The Day' via Sweet Lime Records today and it is already riding high at #2 in the iTunes Rock charts just behind the Foo Fighters.
The album, recorded in Devon with Peter Miles (Futures, We Are The Ocean) at the Producers helm, is something very special indeed. Storytelling lyrics, both light and dark weave their way throughout the album, massive chorus’ and countless epic moments result in a huge sounding record. “We are so excited to announce the release of our second album 'Heavy In The Day'. The album took a while to complete but we've come away with something we are so proud of. We definitely pushed ourselves more than ever on this record to make some of our most interesting and different material, we've all grown up alot and we think that comes out in the music and especially the lyrics, the songs are more personal this time round but are still about things every single person out there can relate to. The melodies are catchier, harmonies are sweeter and the heavy is heavier.” says the band. Canterbury’s first record ‘Thank You’ was given away for free upon release and to date has received over 40,000 downloads- something any team would be proud of, yet Canterbury were not part of any big plan, they chose to do this alone. Their ideas, their money, their way. Something the band wishes to carry through to this album. “After seeing how well received our debut was, and still is received, we can take confidence in the fact that in this day and age, in this modern musical climate, there is barely a reason why it is not possible to control, and release your own music, off your own back. For that reason we take real pride in the fact there is nobody, and no thing, standing in between our music, and our fans. It's a very exciting time for music, and especially home grown British music, and we feel privileged to be in the position where we can release this new album to the world ourselves." After their sold out UK tour earlier this year, the band will be playing select shows this summer including a special small album release show on 19th July at The Barfly in London. Showcasing the finest up-and-coming talent, including: Revoker, The Dirty Youth & Sons of Icarus. 'Family friendly affordable festival in the heart of the South Wales valleys' Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event - which featured The Quireboys, Tigertailz and The Blackspiders amongst others - the organisers promised that this year would be bigger and better. This year’s festival will take place over 3 days - 27th, 28th and 29th July - and it is again set at the spectacular mountain top location of Hafod-y-Dafal Farm, near Ebbw Vale in Gwent. The festival site received rave reviews last year for its magnificent panoramic views, and has now been officially recognised as the UK’s highest music festival further adding to the uniqueness of the Steelhouse Festival. Limeface, the Festival organisers are expecting over 3,000 music fans to descend on the area at the end of July, making it one of the largest single events in the history of the area and position Wales alongside some of the best European rock festivals. Feeder, featuring singer/guitarist Grant Nicholas and bassist Taka Hirose are confirmed as the headliner on the Saturday night of this year’s festival. With 25 hit singles and over 5 million record sales under their belt, this summer will see them performing tracks from their new album “Generation Freakshow’ released on 23rd April, along with classic hit singles, including ‘Feeling the Moment’, ‘Buck Rogers’, ‘Come Back Around’, ‘Renegades’ and ‘Just A Day’. With 8 top 20 singles including ‘Place Your Hands’, ‘Come Back Brighter’, ‘Naked’ and ‘Yer Old’. A number 1 album with the 1997 release ‘Glow” and over 10 million album sales, REEF were the perfect choice to headline the Sunday night and close the show at this year’s Steelhouse Festival. The band fronted by west country vocalist Gary Stringer, reformed in 2009 have since played Glastonbury, The Isle of Wight Festival and Wembley Stadium. This year’s extended festival will feature an additional full day of top quality rock acts, featuring Northern Ireland’s finest, The Answer as special guests on the Sunday night. Saturday’s special guest will be festival favourites Gun, whose new album ‘Break The Silence’ is released 6th July. The Steelhouse places a high priority on showcasing and developing young talent. This year’s festival will feature some of the best up-and-coming rock bands. Revoker, who have already graced the stages of Download and Hammerfest will get the opportunity to rock the valleys and bring their brand of ‘thrash riffsand infectious timeless choruses’ to the rock starved masses of South Wales. The Dirty Youth, featuring vocalist Danni Monroe - who featured on ‘world rock chicks - live’ in New York - have toured extensively throughout Europe, most recently with rock giants KORN. They’ll return to Wales to play their mammouth new single ‘Fight’ which has been featured heavily on KERRANG & SCUZZ TV. Other confirmed bands include: Saint Jude, The Union, Million $ Reload, Bonafide, Prosperina, Henry’s Funeral Shoe, Gentlemen’s Pistols, Hangfire and Marshall Amps ‘Ultimate Band Contest;’ winners Sons of Icarus. Joining Europe’s longest running tribute to KISS, Dressed to Kill and the amazing tribute to Thin Lizzy, Dizzy Lizzy, Guns 2 Roses the UK’s official Guns ‘n’ Roses tribute act will burst on to the stage bringing us hit after hit from one of the world’s biggest bands. The intention is to continue the family friendly theme of last year’s event by again making the event free to children of 14 and under as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The event organisers have continued their commitment to providing the ‘best value’ festival. The full weekend tickets have been set at £55, placing the Steelhouse Festival as one of the most affordable 3 day camping festivals in the UK. The Floridian quintet comprises of: Cody Carson [vocals] Dan Clermont [guitar] Zach DeWall [guitar] Austin Kerr [bass] Maxx Danziger [drums] The band recorded the 12-track album over the course of four weeks with Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount [All Time Low, Cartel, Mayday Parade] at Vintage Song Studios in Alpharetta, GA. Set It Off recently debuted “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” - a brand new song off of 'Cinematics', in the form of a lyric video that is now available on Youtube HERE. 'Cinematics' features Set It Off’s signature sound of orchestra-infused pop with a new sense of heaviness, diversity and intensity in the album, both lyrically and musically. "With the new album, you're getting to jump inside my head and think how I think, feel what I feel, and really understand how human we all are.” Carson confesses. “We are human - we have good times, we have bad times, we think pure thoughts, and we think impure thoughts. As far as how I describe these situations, I want you to feel like you are sitting down for a short film…and if I'm not evoking any sort of emotion from you then I'm not doing my job.” “And musically I feel like we are the strongest we've ever been. All the touring we've done in the past year has made us night and day tighter for our live performances and working and meeting other musicians on that next level has forced us to push our skills musically in all aspects from playing to writing,” adds Clermont. “We are very proud of our last release, Horrible Kids EP, but this album is just on a different level, and we’re very, very excited about it,” concludes Danziger. “This is a new era of Set It Off, and we’re ready for it.” Set If Off is currently on tour with Hawthorne Heights and will next hit the road with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. A new fall tour announcement for Set It Off will be made soon as well. All announced, upcoming tour dates can be seen below – as well as the tracklisting for 'Cinematics'. TRACKLIST 1.
