Spirit will be the musical pioneers’ 14th studio album and the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed Delta Machine, which reached a top five chart position in 26 countries and the number one position in 12 countries. Spirit is being produced by James Ford, founding member of the band Simian Mobile Disco, whose recent production work includes albums by Florence and the Machine and Arctic Monkeys. Spirit will be released in early 2017 via Columbia Records worldwide. Speaking in Milan, Dave Gahan commented, “We’re exceptionally proud of Spirit’s sound and energy, and we’re excited to get back on tour to share it with our fans around the world.” Following the European tour dates in Summer 2017, the Global Spirit Tour will continue with shows in North and South America. The Global Spirit Tour will be the band’s 18th tour and will mark their first live performances in over three years. The band’s last tour, the Delta Machine Tour, played to over 2.5 million fans at sold-out shows across Europe and North America and was one of 2013’s largest and best selling tours. On the Global Spirit Tour the band will continue their charity partnership with Swiss watch maker Hublot, raising money and awareness for Charity: Water toward their mission of providing safe drinking water to everyone in the world. Having sold over 100 million records and played live to more than 30 million fans worldwide, Depeche Mode refuse to become complacent, with innumerable artists citing them as inspirations and critics celebrating them as “still blazing trails” and “becoming more and more significant as time passes”. Spirit and the Global Spirit Tour are poised to continue this history of musical innovation and the band’s critical and commercial success. "It turns out all that hype might have been appropriate…one moment it’s a snarling synth-rock banger a la Radiohead’s “Myxomatosis,” the next it’s an emotional computer ballad like Nicki Minaj’s “Truffle Butter” beat bawling its eyes out” - STEREOGUM “Phantogram perfectly capture those feelings of desperation, hunger, and boredom, wrapping it all into a track that packs an unexpected punch” - MTV "Hypnotic" - ROLLING STONE NY indie-electronica duo Phantogram – comprised of Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter - have premiered the video to new single “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” on Fader. The track, which has already had 2.5 million Spotify streams, impacts on September 16 and is the first single to be taken from Phantogram’s new album ‘Three’, also out September 16 on new UK label Fiction Records. The video was shot in Bombay Beach on the shores of The Salton Sea in California, and is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Grant Singer, who has previously directed promos for Sky Ferreira, Skrillex, Ariel Pink, Little Dragon, Sleigh Bells, Foxygen and The Weeknd. “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore is about the loneliness in superficial relationships and that feeling of not being able to find happiness in places that were once so easy to come across,” says Phantogram’s Carter. “The desolation in Bombay Beach represents that feeling really well. The area was once a promising vacation spot before the droughts and now it’s a ghost town. We were excited that Grant picked that spot, he understood the aesthetic of the song right off the bat and ran with it.” Since the release of their 2014 US break-though album Voices, Phantogram have trekked across the globe playing live shows and festival dates, contributed features to everyone from A-Trak to Miley Cyrus and been sampled by Kanye West, The Game and A$AP Rocky, as well as releasing their debut BIG GRAMS LP with good friend and musical partner in crime, Big Boi of Outkast. The New York bred duo made writing stops at home and in Atlanta before picking back up in Los Angeles to record Three. Carter and Barthel shared duties on production and vocals, melding elements of rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic. The resulting sound leans darker and more psychedelic yet with some of the brightest and most introspective pop melodies they’ve delivered to date, truly making them genre-defying artists for the 21st century. Phantogram will be touring across the United States and Canada in the autumn before reaching Europe in November. The UK leg includes dates in Brighton, Manchester, Glasgow and a show at London’s Heaven on Wednesday 16th November. Paul and Honne. Working with these disparate talents got Jones exploring new ground, but also hardened her vision of what her songs should really be: moments to lift people out of their lives, however difficult. “What I want to put across is that it’s OK to be where you are, wherever you are, to learn from this. We all need the sad songs sometimes, but it’s good to have optimism too, to free your mind of things that make you unhappy” says Jones about her melancholic but optimistic album. The last 12 months have been a whirlwind for Jones who not only made her debut on Later…With Jools Holland but was also announced as one of Spotify's Spotlight Artists For 2016 and her previous single ‘Hoops’ has been streamed over 5 million times and was play-listed at BBC 1Xtra. Jones’ current single ‘Melt’ is a starkly modern, electronic soul offering which has already had over ½ Million streams and will have remixes from Lithuanian born producer / DJ Embody and Jay Prince. After standout shows at SXSW, The Great Escape and her own sold out London shows, Jones is pleased to announce an October headline tour that will include Oslo in London. Physical pre-orders are now available at www.sumerianmerch.com along with digital pre-orders on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play. Check out the video for "Eye Of The Storm" here. The brainchild of Emily Lazar (aka "September Mourning") and acclaimed American comic book artist and publisher Marc Silvestri (X-Men, Witchblade, The Darkness), September Mourning's "Volume II" picks up where 2015's self-released EP "Volume I" left off. Like it's predecessor, "Volume II" will be accompanied by the second issue of September Mourning's comic book series on Top Cow Productions. “For me, the project is a story, a theatrical art piece. Music is the backbone, but for this to work, it has to include the imagery and the narrative all symbiotically linked into the whole," explains Lazar. "Volume II is a continuation of the first step in our journey which began with our self released EP, Volume I and A Murder of Reapers, the first issue of our comic book. Volume II follows our hero, September Mourning's tale throughout the second issue of the comic book entitled, The Hand of Fate. Both forms of media intertwine to create a musical and visual story mosaic for your eyes and ears. Although September's character is fictional, both the emotional landscape of the music and the message behind her lyric come from a very vulnerable place inside of me. In this album, I intertwined these supernatural characters with my own very real, relatable thoughts and feelings. There are pieces of myself magnified in every dynamic shift and bombastic hook in this album and you feel that when you listen. The world that's created promises you an epic ride." September Mourning will tour consistently worldwide throughout 2016 and into 2017 in support of the new album. Sumerian Records |
