The 10th anniversary of Slam Dunk Festival has just announced a further 8 bands to the lineup. Yellowcard will be playing the festival for the first time and will play their huge album 'Ocean Avenue' in full, in a world exclusive. "I think we owe so much of the success we have been so lucky to have to Ocean Avenue." says Ryan Key. "We have built an incredible touring career on 6 continents over the last 15 years. We have recorded 5 more original albums following Ocean Avenue. Without that album none of these things would have been possible. I wouldn't change a thing." Florida's Mayday Parade have had a big year with a new album and a sold out UK headline tour under their belts already. They have played the festival twice before, in 2011 & 2012. They say they are "stoked to be a part of this year's Slam Dunk Festival. We always look forward to traveling across the pond to play music for our UK fans and can't wait to do again in 2016!" Eastborune pop punks Roam are all about pushing the pop punk envelope, as can be heard on their debut record record. Having recently been inciting crowd-surfing frenzies on a plethora of tours across the UK, Europe and the US, the band will make a welcome return to the festival. Alex Costello says "We are so excited to play Slam Dunk again! Playing last year was one of the highlights of 2015 for us and I think this year will be even better now we have an album out. In my opinion it's one of the best festivals in the UK, especially for pop punk bands. It's definitely going to be one to remember." Australia's Northlane will be back to play songs off their ARIA number 1 album 'Node'. "Every time we visit the UK we’re welcomed with open arms, and always look forward to crossing the globe because the Brits make it worth it! Festivals are the most fun you can have playing in a band, and Slam Dunk is one of the best there is, We can’t wait to come over to the UK again!" Grimecore crew Hacktivist play Slam Dunk in the wake of the release of their acclaimed debut album Outside The Box (UNFD), which has seen them win acclaim across the board from the press and ignite their burgeoning underground fanbase. A confident and bleeding-edge mashup of genres like that of their brothers-in-vibe Enter Shikari, Hacktivist are a force to be reckoned with and a truly unstoppable live band. Everyones favourite Canadians are also added to the bill -Cancer Bats – They have also played the festival twice, in 2012 & 2013. "Were so stoked to announce that we'll be playing Slam Dunk this summer ! We can't wait to party with all our homies and to tear the shit out of the stage with our brothers in Every Time I Die!!! Its gonna be epic ! Scoop some tickets and lets get weird!!!!" says frontman Liam Corimer. Fans of heavy, loud rock n roll won't be disappointed this year with the addition of Georgia's Norma Jean. This will be the bands first time at Slam Dunk and it will surely be a special show. And finally, it wouldn’t be a proper anniversary without Hit The Lights. The band has flown over from the USA for a near record 4 times to play the festival, in ’10, ’11, ’12, & ’14.The band released their fourth album 'Summer Bones' last year and are always a big crowd pleaser with their huge pop punk sound. Expect nothing less from their 2016 performance. The bands will join the headliners Panic! At The Disco and the likes of Of Mice & Men, New Found Glory and many more for the May 2016 bank holiday weekend. The dates and sites for next years' edition are:
Tickets are on sale now and priced at £42 or £47 including afterparty. The festival is for Age 14 + (festival only) or 18+ for the afterparty tickets. For the first time, due to popular demand, there is also a limited edition Mega Ticket on sale for £150. This ticket includes admittance to all 3 events and includes afterparties, wristband exchange queue jumps and a limited edition t-shirt. Visit www.slamdunkmusic.com for all ticketing links. This year will see some huge upgrades to the event, continuing the huge year on year growth the festival has experienced. Following the success of last year the Leeds site will remain in the City Centre, with a new site being announced at the Birmingham NEC and the Southern date will remain in Hatfield, at the University of Hertfordshire campus for the fifth year. This will bring the capacity up to a huge 40,000 fans across the weekend. Slam Dunk Festival has won ‘Best Festival’ at the Kerrang! Awards in both 2014 and 2015. Widely regarded as the biggest awards in rock, the festival beat strong competition from major events such as Reading / Leeds and Download. Slam Dunk has also been in the final shortlists for ‘Best Metropolitan Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards, in 2013, 2014 & 2015, and ‘Best Festival’ (up to 15,000 daily capacity) at The Live UK Awards 2015.

Portland's Red Fang has announced a new run of North American dates this coming April, which will see the band playing venues across the U.S. West Coast and British Columbia with support from Golden Void, Bison and Black Wizard on select dates. Red Fang recently celebrated its tenth anniversary with a trio of Northwestern U.S. performances. The band returns to the studio later this month, recording the follow-up to "Whales & Leeches" with famed producer Ross Robinson (At The Drive In, The Cure, Sepultura) and mixing handled by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Melvins, Tool) . Red Fang will trek from Portland to Robinson's Venice, Calif. studio with two shows en route: Feb. 17 at Jub Jub’s in Reno and Feb. 18 at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Rather than use the 10,000 capacity space that will house the full-blown ‘arena rock show’, Ally Pally offered the band the use of the seldom-seen-by-the-general-public Victorian Theatre for the recording. The theatre, largely unused in this century, is a hidden gem behind the main building. A 2500 capacity ornate room that has, over the past 100+ years, served as not only a place of entertainment but also a haven for Belgian refugees, a BBC props store, and a German internment camp. Footage from the set has been released via the band’s Youtube channel today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdD4s3g45t8, and three of the tracks will be available for streaming and download as a ‘Live & Acoustic at Alexandra Palace EP’ via all outlets from Monday 1st February. Enter Shikari’s UK tour - which the band recently announced would utilise quadraphonic surround-sound - starts on Thursday 18th February in Glasgow, and ends up at Alexandra Palace on Saturday 27th February before heading out to Europe. Support for the UK dates comes from The Wonder Years and The King Blues. "Rammstein is an act that is headlining major festivals all over the world,” says Chicago Open Air producer Danny Wimmer. “I’ve been trying to get Rammstein here for years and I couldn’t be more ecstatic to launch Chicago Open Air with them. Special Guests on the road with Nile are the unsurpassable and entirely unique Melechesh. Melechesh were founded in Jerusalem in 1993 by young guitarist Ashmedi, and since then they have proved themselves as visionaries creating an entirely new genre. Experimenting with melting raw black metal with Mediterranean drum patterns and guitar scales resulted in their first phenomenal demo ‘As Jerusalem Burns’ and the 7” EP ‘The Siege Of Lachish’ – earning the band a forcible underground following. Melechesh released their most recent album ‘Enki’ in early 2015, a deep and personal album filled with metaphor, spiritual, and philosophical references – a further development of their own Mesopotamian metal. ‘Enki’ achieved many critics’ ‘Albums Of 2015’ lists. You can purchase ‘Enki’ HERE. With Fallujah and Disentomb as support, The Black Dahlia Murder plans to play their first full-length, 2003's "Unhallowed", in its entirety, performing at intimate venues across the US that haven't seen the band since their debut was released. Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments: "We are very excited to unleash this absolutely crushing lineup upon you all and to play the much requested Unhallowed album in its entirety. The songs are sounding better than ever before, and we can't wait for you to feast your ears on our debut album as it was meant to be heard. We will also be playing some bangers from our new album, Abysmal, and the rest of the catalog...Come out and bring your friends!" In related news, Brandon Ellis will join The Black Dahlia Murder on the road as the band's touring guitarist and replacement for Ryan Knight, who amicably parted ways with the group. In regards to his departure, Knight comments: "After nearly seven years with The Black Dahlia Murder , I feel the time has come for me to step down and focus on other aspects of my life. The decision to leave was very difficult, yet necessary I feel for me to ultimately be happy and keep moving forward. I feel very lucky to have had the best band-mates/crew -- past and present -- to traverse the world, guzzle beers, and bring the rock with every night. Thank you, guys. I'd like to give a huge thank you to all our fans for being so cool to me over the years, and all the hardworking people over at Metal Blade Records for their support, and general badassery. In the meantime, I'll still be teaching guitar, working on new music, and just getting pretty domestic in general. Thanks again!" Strnad adds: "When Ryan first joined the band, he drove from the hospital where his first child had just been born to begin practicing and writing with us, on the eve of the recording of our "Deflorate" album. In his years with the band, he made a lot of sacrifices to be with us and uphold our insanely demanding touring and recording schedule. He always gave us one-hundred percent, and for that I thank him. He is an incredible musician and creative force. It was exciting to make new material with him, and his wealth of knowledge has left its stamp on the band's music forever. I always knew that his time in the band would be limited, and it has now come time for him to go home and be with his family. Ryan, being the stand-up dude that he is, told us of his plans to leave the band more than a year ago, and with heavy hearts we began to plan for The Black Dahlia Murder 's future. We admire that Ryan went to such lengths to make his departure as easy on the band as possible, even going as far as to help us find a talented leadsman in Brandon Ellis -- who has been lending us his tremendous guitar skills on the current TBDM tour. Knight is one of my best friends and I wish him the best in everything he does. He will always have a place here in the TBDM family. I look back at our time together with nothing but gratitude." The Black Dahlia Murder will be touring in support of Abysmal, which was named one of the best albums of 2015 by Metal Sucks, Metal Injection and Metal Insider, among many others.
