Canadian speed metallers Chainbreaker stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album, Lethal Desire, at heavily trafficked web-portal CVLTNation.com. Set for international release on February 15th via Hells Headbangers, hear Chainbreaker's Lethal Desire in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Chainbreaker formed sometime in the frigid depths of 2013. The band began as a three-piece in Al Chambers' garage, with Al taking care of vocal duties and drums, Ian Chains on guitar, and band friend Craig Rose on bass. Initially, the band was just an excuse to cope with winter by get hammered and playing Razor songs. Eventually, a solid line-up came together (Rob Ouellette on vocals, Curtis Faux on bass) and the Constant Graving demo tape was released in early 2014 to coincide with the band's debut gig at the now-defunct Izakaya Sushi Bar. A handful of shows were played in Eastern Canada in support of the tape, as well as a brief US tour with now-labelmates BAT in the summer.
The following year, three songs were recorded for the Enslave Your Masters 7” single that has yet to be released, but has since been made available online. In the spring of 2017, the debut full-length Lethal Desire was recorded at Lincoln County Social Club (Cauldron's main recording haunt) in Toronto, and was mixed and mastered by Toxic Holocaust frontman Joel Grind. It's also the first Chainbreaker recording to feature new bassist Phil Zeller (Rammer/Toxic Holocaust) and will be the first release for the band on Hells Headbangers.
For a band featuring current and former members of Cauldron, Toxic Holocaust, and Rammer, it's not surprising that Chainbreaker suitably specialize in lean 'n' mean speed metal that pays respects to their '80s Canadian forebears like Razor, Sacrifice, Piledriver, and Slaughter whilst honourably adding to that classic canon. All that was crude 'n' rude about said canon - the locomotive rush, the raw-blooded intensity, the emphasis on simple yet exclamatory hooks - is dragged kicking and screaming into the present, under the oh-so-fitting title of Lethal Desire. Poisonous yet endlessly fun, the album unleashes one mini-anthem after another, each one more rivet-headed than the last, but always in service of the eternal glory of heavy metal. And a dozen of those mini-anthems fly by in a compact 35 minutes, making Lethal Desire the perfect soundtrack to beer-drinking and hell-raising.
On lethal evidence of the long-desired Lethal Desire, in the succinct words of Chainbreaker, "2019 is the year of broken chains!" Break all the chains exclusively HERE, courtesy of CVLTNation.com. Pre-order info can be found HERE at Hells Headbangers' Bandcamp.
Swedish Metallers Carry The Torch were formed in 2010-2011, but didn’t start writing music seriously before 2016. The inspiration for the music they make comes from everyday life and a lot of musical influences from all over the world. For the band these days, it’s all about having fun with music but still pushing themselves to the limit, this is their mantra and main reason to continue and evolve. They wanna be the best Carry The Torch they can be and nothing less than that.
The first release from the band will be the full-length album Obsession to be release via Sliptrick Records later in the year. For the tracks, Dennis and Philip re-wrote 10 old songs and polished them until they were “up to date”. The spark was there, so the band came together to record and see what the future would bring. A lot more metal in this kind of style can be expected from Carry The Torch, but when and how no one knows …keep the flame burning!
Carry The Torch are:
Dennis Johansson – Vocals
Philip Nilsson – Guitar
Victor Wahlstedt – Guitar
Björn Lindgren – Drums

"Velvet Noise", the debut album for what was to become one of biggest metal exports from Denmark - Raunchy - will be reissued in vinyl for the first time. But it won't be a "regular" reissue. The record was remastered by Henrik West at Medley Studios (Copenhagen) and will be available in orange vinyl, gatefold edition, limited to 500 copies. The release date is April 12th, 2019.
"A completely convincing mixture of Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad and Machine Head, Denmark's Raunchy are easily the country's best-kept secret and possibly one of the finest European “modern metal” bands I have heard in quite some time".
In 2001, as one can easily understand from Blabbermouth's Borivoj Krgin words, the world went crazy with Raunchy's debut album, "Velvet Noise".
The band comments:-
"We knew that we were something different to the Danish Metal scene back then. We had a much more alternative approach on how we wanted metal music and our music to sound so we knew that we might get “slaughtered” when the reviews would start to tick in. I mean just our brand name Raunchy has no “metal” feel/meaning to it, so that was definitely a thing we knew would be “uphill”.
Also the fact that we pretty much looked like a typical generic band from the Britpop “heydays” of Blur, Suede, Oasis, Radiohead, The Verve etc. was another obstacle - but we couldn’t care less".
Raunchy soon took off, signed a deal with Nuclear Blast and went touring the world. "Velvet Noise", however, was the beginning of it all and will remain as one of the most successful debut albums from a Danish band ever.

Welsh Symphonic Black Metal veterans Hecate Enthroned premieres video for collaboration with Sarah Jezebel Deva
With “Embrace Of The Godless Aeon,” their first record in five years, proving to be one of the best-reviewed extreme metal releases of the year to date, the UK-based symphonic blackened death metal group Hecate Enthroned have unveiled a lyric video for the album track “Erebus and Terror,” which features guest vocals by Sarah Jezebel Deva (Cradle of Filth, Therion, Mortiis). Watch it here - https://youtu.be/m8WSg5pcr5I
While “Embrace...” proves definitively that Hecate Enthroned is still as brutal and scornful as ever, the album also shows occasional hints of gothic and ambient influences, and “Erebus and Terror” is a prime example.
Says bassist Dylan Hughes:-
“On an album full of epic tracks, 'Erebus and Terror' still stands out as a monster. Massive and powerful, it creeps between eerie dark chills and huge powerhouse sections that utilize the full armoury of soaring orchestras and crushing guitars to deliver a skilfully-crafted song. With the incredible vocal talents of Sarah Jezebel Deva, this track is lifted to another level of emotion and feeling, as she delivered a performance that matches the intensity of the music. To have Sarah with us gives our music and writing another dimension – a real organic element that can lift or carry a song through the emotion ranges.”
Adds vocalist Joe Stamps:-
“'Erebus and Terror' is about the ill-fated Franklin Expedition, in which the sailors who were stranded in the Northwest Passage were reported to have begun to cannibalize one another. The lyrics describe a loss of humanity through sickness and desperation and even compares these to lycanthropy – men becoming beasts.”
“Embrace Of The Godless Aeon” – which features cover artwork by Nestor Avalos (Bloodbath, Rotting Christ, The Black Dahlia Murder), as seen above – is out now on CD, digital and red splatter vinyl. A limited-edition deluxe box set that features exclusive purple vinyl and cassette editions of the album, a signed photo card, stickers, patches and other collectibles is also available direct from our webstore www.m-theoryadio.com/store or www.plastichead.com.
One of the UK underground's longest-running and most respected acts, Hecate Enthroned has been praised by the likes of Terrorizer for their “mixture of death metal aggression with black metal atmosphere.” “Embrace Of The Godless Aeon” – their first recording with Stamps, who joined the band in 2015 – sees the group continue to deftly mix black with death, modern with classic and extreme with symphonic. The album was co-produced by Dan Abela (Voices, The Antichrist Imperium, Tristania).
Originally co-founded in Wales by guitarist Nigel Dennen in the mid-1990s, Hecate Enthroned is dedicated to delivering their own brand of evil metal with little regard to politics or the trends of popular demand. The group's 1997 full-length debut, the Andy Sneap-produced “The Slaughter Of Innocence, A Requiem For The Mighty” (Blackend Records), was a seminal release in the then-burgeoning orchestral black metal movement. Since then, several albums and EPs and numerous live performances have firmly established the band as one of extreme metal's most important voices, a sentiment that “Embrace Of The Godless Aeon” firmly reinforces.
Hecate Enthroned's next live performance will take place on April 20 at the Veneration Of The Dead festival in Rotterdam, Holland.
El Salvador's Witchgöat unveil debut album "Egregors of the Black Faith"; streaming in its entirely via Decibel Magazine
Salvadorian black/thrashing maniacs Witchgöat's debut full length Egregors of the Black Faith comes out today via Morbid Skull Records (CD & Cassette) and Hell Productions (CD). This album is the successor of the demo Umbra Regit that came out last year.
M. Miasma (vocals) states:-
“We hope to project our first album, Egregors of the Black Faith, to the world as a tribute of our devotion to thrash/black/death metal and to show that in Central America we also share the visceral spirit of honest and direct metal that makes its way even without having great technical and economic resources, just like the spirit of South America in the ‘80s. On this album, we tried to print our version of the raw metal which we have been fans of for many years. We trust that the followers of this type of music will find it interesting.”
Stream "Egregors of the Black Faith " in its full via Decibel Magazine, AT THIS LOCATION
Witchgöat was conceived in the middle of 2016 by the long serving Salvadorian guitarist P. Scyther with the aim to form a black/thrash metal project that would carry off the effervescence of the old school thrash metal, the brutality and the precariousness of the ‘80s extreme metal, and the dire melodies of the ‘90s blackened death metal. He had shortly begun composing for the nameless project. The drummer E. Driller joined him in the early 2017 and the recording process was started straight away under the moniker of Witchgöat. The line-up of Witchgöat was completed upon the arrival of M. Miasma (vocals) and C. Fog (bassist) in the mid – 2017.
The profane quartet bestowed the demo tape “Umbra Regit” (all 33 copies were sold out immediately after issuing the pre-order) upon earth on July 31, 2018 via Morbid Skull Records. The demo assault is a momentary demonstration of the profound malignancy and the inevitable destruction that the impending debut is to inflame in the beginning of the year 2019.
The debut opus “Egregors of the Black Faith” is out on February 13, 2019 via Morbid Skull Records (El Salvador – CD & Cassette) and Hell Productions (Thailand – CD). Rejecting all type of modern technological enhancements, this opus conjures the filthiness and wickedness of the bona fide old-school extreme metal sound. With a malefic storm of barbaric black/thrashing numbers present in the album, Witchgöat is destined to intensify the spirit of the Central American metal underground.
LA death metal cult Crematory Stench stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second EP, Grotesque Deformities, at Revolver magazine's website. Set for international release on February 15th via Blood Harvest Records (distributed & marketed by Regain Records) sets February 15th on cassette tape and 12" vinyl formats, hear Crematory Stench's Grotesque Deformities in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Hailing from Southern California, Crematory Stench formed in 2014 and released their self-titled debut EP two years later. Then a trio, the band's sound was a thrashing take on late '80s death metal, largely nodding to early Death and Pestilence. Now expanded to a quartet and has been a prolific force on the live front, Crematory Stench's attack has but gotten nastier, gnarlier, and creepier. One could argue that with Grotesque Deformities, they have entered the very early '90s, owing as they do to the sounds coming from Sweden then. Either way, it's utterly hellish.
But, on evidence of this new second EP, Crematory Stench are just getting started and will undoubtedly get darker and more disgusting. Jump on their bandwagon now and witness their Grotesque Deformities! Jump fully on that bandwagon exclusively HERE, courtesy of Revolver, North America's premier rock & metal authority. Preorder info for both formats can be found HERE at Blood Harvest's Bandcamp.
Russia's Shokran release new album 'Ethereal'; debuts #2 on the U.S iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums
Progressive Metal Band Shokran has released their newest full length album, "Ethereal". Released on February 8th, Ethereal immediately blew fans away, debuting at #2 on the U.S iTunes Top 100 Heavy metal Albums.
"It's been a while since our last release, *Exodus*. We took our time, we honed our musical skills, and we are very proud of the end result! Our new CD, Ethereal is the most mature and complex album in the history of Shokran, we set out to deliver those next level feels" - Shokran
Shokran started as a Groove/Djent/Oriental Metal solo project by Dmitry Demyanenko in 2012, with the debut EP Sixth Sense. In 2014, the solo project transformed into a full-time band, and Shokran released its debut album Supreme Truth followed by extensive Russian tours & critical acclaim. As the group found their footing, there was a change in the line-up, and they were joined by their current singer, Andrew Ivashchenko, and bass player Valery Yushkevich.
The band was set to release their 2nd album entitled Exodus in 2015 but delayed the release after receiving interest from several record labels including Sumerian Records. During the negotiations, no agreements were ultimately reached, and the band decided to release Exodus on their own in September 2016. It was a conceptual work, that describes the 10 Plagues of Egypt, each song on Exodus tells about each Plague. The record took the band to an altogether higher level. Shokran gained new fans around the world, reunited with their original bass player Rodion Shevchenko, completed several more tours and began to compose their latest album ETHEREAL, which was released on February 8th, 2019 and debuted #2 on the U.S iTunes Top 100 Heavy metal albums.

UK heavy metal act Forged in Black premiere a new video for "Seek No Evil" at Zero Tolerance magazine's website. The track hails from the band's highly anticipated second album, Descent of the Serpent, set for international release on March 5th via Fighter Records. See & hear Forged in Black's "Seek No Evil" video in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Forged in Black’s quest for metallic perfection began in 2013, and the band released their eponymous debut album that same year, swiftly followed by the EP The Tide and a single, "Exodus," which was produced by Romesh Dodangoda, famed for his work with Motörhead, Bring Me The Horizon, and Bullet For My Valentine. At this point in their career, the band struck up a great working relationship with legendary, much-missed producer Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath. etc). Chris and Forged in Black together created two excellent EPs, Fear Reflecting Fear and 2017's Sinner Sanctorum, both of which raised the band’s profile, gathered them great critical acclaim, and set them on the path towards Descent of the Serpent. After Chris’ sad passing at the beginning of 2018, Forged in Black sought once again the help of Romesh Dodangoda, and the producer stepped into the breach, guiding the band through the recording of what is undoubtedly their finest collection of songs to date: Descent of the Serpent.

Anthem will release their re-recorded greatest hits album 'Nucleus' on March 29th via Nuclear Blast. Pre-order here: http://nblast.de/AnthemNucleus
'Nucleus' will be available as 2CD and 2LP.
Recently, the band also announced their first ever European festival appearance. On April 26th-27th 2019, Anthem will play at the Keep It True festival in Germany!
Mixing and mastering of 'Nucleus' was done by established producer and engineer Jens Bogren, known for his work with a multitude of big-name artists. Jens' work is based on elaborate theories and an abundance of knowledge, which has helped guide the careers of many bands, Anthem's case is no exception. This album which features Jens' fat sound with rich low-end is more than up to par with the worldwide heavy metal standard.
A remarkable point worth noting about this release is that all of the songs except 'Venom Strike' were written after their reunion in 2001 – proving that Anthem have always has been a 'current band' that does not have to rely on their past.
This re-recorded greatest hits, which include a variety of their classics is a monumental effort, perfectly demonstrating the musical quality of Anthem and proving that they can be ranked as a top-notch band even in the international market.
