For the first time Hungary has chosen a metal song to be the winners of "A Dal" (The Song), Hungary's national selection television show for the Eurovision Song Contest. The post-hardcore / modern metal band, AWS are going to represent their country with their emotional song “Viszlát nyár” (Eng.: Goodbye, Summer) performed in their native language in Lisbon this May. The band was founded in 2006 by Bence Brucker, Dániel Kökényes, Örs Siklósi, and Áron Veress in high school, who were later joined by current bass guitarist Soma Schiszler. Combining different elements of nu-metal, metalcore, post-hardcore and psychedelic rock, the band managed to produce 3 full-length albums, 3 singles and 7 video clips in the 12 years of their career. Following a decade of successful club shows and even major festival appearances from all over Hungary to Austria, Slovenia, Romania and the United Kingdom, the band was announced as one of the participants of A Dal in 2017. Winning live performance of “Viszlát nyár” in A Dal: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcWC7XOBZIE The well deserved victory came as a big surprise, although the band united the Hungarian metal scene like no band before. Musicians from all over the country encouraged their fans to cast their votes for AWS from popular rock musicians of bands like Tankcsapda, and Road, to members of death metal band Kill With Hate. Also, fellow competitor metal band Leander Kills asked their fans too to support AWS with their votes. A well-known name among lovers of heavy music in the underground metal scene, AWS was chosen from 8 entries who made it through to the final rounds of the show. These acts were judged by a four-member jury consisting of well-known figures of the Hungarian music and art scene. Unexpectedly, AWS sneaked into the super-final round in the company of 3 pop music acts to steal the show: in this final stage, people from all over the world were able to vote their favourite ones. This is what ultimately earned the band their triumph: AWS knocked pop music out of their way to claim the first place with the help of metal fans. The dynamic winning song, featuring both clean and screamed vocals, was inspired by a family tragedy. Frontman Örs Siklósi comments: "<Viszlát nyár> was put together in a summer camp in the company of a few bottles of wine. The lyrics are originally about my father, who passed away recently. We tried to make the video a little bit different. We didn't want it to be only about my story, so other band members can relate to it as well. We've emptied all our family video archives to demonstrate the passing of time and to stress how important it is to look after our beloved ones, because nobody's got too much time here to mess around." “Viszlát nyár” Official Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQgurXKh42U The band also stated that they plan to perform the song unchanged with additional visual elements and the same intensity as they do in front of their fans. The world hasn’t seen a metal band winning the Eurovision Song Contest since Finland’s Lordi shocked the audience with their horror metal in 2006. 12 years passed, and now the chance to make the winds of change blow is here again. But if metalheads of the continent can unite once again to line up behind this band in 2018, if together we can make this competition not to be merely about pop music, that remains to be seen. AWS Facebook: facebook.com/awszenekar/ AWS YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/AWSofficial AWS Instagram: www.instagram.com/awsofficial/ EDGE Records Facebook: facebook.com/EdgeRecordsHungary/ Demonic Resurrection has announced a line-up change which sees the departure of their lead guitarist Nishith Hegde, who has been promptly replaced by Vignesh V. Nishith had this to say about it:- "No matter how much we want things to be the same, life is all about change. Sometimes it’s for the better and sometimes it’s not. I have had a glorious 5 years with Demonic Resurrection and it will always remain very close to me, the journey I was a part of. But priorities change and you have to do what you have to do. I wish my friends in DR all the very best for all their future endeavours and hope they reach greater heights. As for me, my journey with them ends here!" Sahil comments:- "It's been a pleasure having Nishith be a part of this band and we're definitely going to miss having him around. His contribution has been invaluable and you can hear his musical genius on the recordings of Dashavatar. They are part of the history of DR now. Line-up changes seem to be the only constant in DR but it's something I've come to terms with, it's always hard but everyone has to follow their own path and DR is a stepping stone in that journey. We will carry on as always and for now Vignesh V. (Albatross) is going to be filling in as lead guitarist on all upcoming India tours. We are looking and auditioning lead guitar players but we still haven't found a full time replacement for Ashwin (who quit last year) so technically we're still looking for a full time bass player as well. Vignesh has filled in for Nishith last year for a couple of shows so we're quite comfortable with this line-up for now. Onward and upward." Demonic Resurrection released another official video of a song from their last album 'Dashavatar' via the band's official channel AT THIS LINK. The band will be touring UK shortly where they have confirmed festival appearances. The second festival appearance is at Eradication Festival 2018 where the leading band will be playing alongside bands such as Extreme Noise Terror, Hecate Enthroned, Wombbath, Warlord UK and others. Official Demonic Resurrection Bandcamp Official Demonic Resurrection Facebook Official Demonic Resurrection YouTube Channel The Czech Djent / progressive masters Between the Planets released their second album "Of Inner Sight" The band is an instrumental trio presenting a mix of groove, metal and ambient. They originally created as a one man project by Martin "Spacosh" Perina. However, they are not a traditional Djent, their music have many ambient backgrounds, a frequent post-metal elements and a pure, progressive rock-sounding guitar parts. "Of Inner Sight" hosted by Norwegian saxophonist Jørgen Munkeby (Shining, ex Jaga Jazziest), the singer Barbora Mochowa, and the cellist Karel Žďárský. The mix and mastering was done by the proven Ecson Waldes from BIOTECH, the artwork of CD is the work of Lukáš Lancko 3D graphics (ISIS DESIGN STUDIO). Both have already collaborated with the band on the first album. The main concept behind it is sort of being telegraphed by the title alone – "Of Inner Sight" – something about our third eye. The record is trying to express the fight between the inner self and its view concerning different things. It explores the state of mind when you are trying to connect to yourself and communicate with your inner thoughts and processes. At the same time if one is opened enough, there are impulses of inspiration and he/she doesn’t even know where that came from. You can experience this while meditating, composing music (or anything that expresses your creativity) – when you focus on one thing only and do not think about anything else at all. There are some emotional and ambient passages, which needs to be heard more than once, so you can clearly hear all the layers of the sound. At the same time, guitar-heavy passages are having more impact and are much straighter to the point. Martin Spacosh expressed the process of creating new songs as; "I am the sole author of the BTP music as of yet. Well the process is as following: I record all the music in my home studio and create quite detailed drum patterns and layers in the MIDI format. Then I share this version of MIDI drums with our drummer Filip and he will edit the tracks from the drummer’s perspective. That means inserting some breaks, changing the dynamics, altering arrangements etc. Then he will send his version back to me. I will or will not accept any / all of those changes (there comes the iteration process into play) and it’s basically done. Filip will learn how to play the final parts and we can go live. The bass lines are basically staying the same throughout this process – that means they are exactly the same as on the first demo. Lots of demo stuff actually makes it to the final record. When it comes to tracks, it’s quite the same process as of other musicians – the tracks are born when I improvise or play with some melodic motives. When it captures my attention or inspire me in any way, it can grow up to be a basis for a track." You can find "Of Inner Sight" on BandCamp, Spotify, BandZone, and YouTube. Also, they are aiming to release new music very soon. https://www.facebook.com/BetweenThePlanets/?ref=br_rs Finnish melodic metal troupe Psychework unleashes Fury and the Beast, a brand new track from their upcoming album, on 9th of March. The result of this is black metal loaded with wilderness and heathen spirit. Portuguese death metal cult Summon premiere the new track "Cvlt of Abomination" at web-portal CVLTNation.com. The track hails from the band's highly anticipated debut album, Parazv Il Zilittv, set for international release on April 20th via Iron Bonehead Productions. Hear Summon's "Cvlt of Abomination" in its entirety exclusively HERE. Summon emerged in late 2016 as a gathering between N. and R. in which they decided to follow a sonority that transcends their soul and where they could give it a more cavernous feel, with an intensity of deep agony. Shortly thereafter, N. decides to move forward with composite themes, and then they decide to call J. to seal the covenant of a deadly entity. The lyrics are handled by N. in which he invokes all the blackness and splendour of death, the burden of enduring and wandering in a world of human flesh, and the infinite thirst for mass slaughter converting mankind into a cloak of bones. What thusly emerged was Summon's debut EP, Aesthetics of Demise, which was released by Iron Bonehead during the summer of 2017 to widespread critical acclaim. A swirling, sulphurous mass of molten death-doom, Aesthetics of Demise was aptly titled, but on the fuller and more fleshed-out Parazv Il Zilittv, the trio both dive deeper into the murk and emerge into clearer dimensions. By no means do Summon here abandon their expertly crafted monolith of death-doom, but they largely (and wisely) leave behind the obfuscating murk which has become so de rigueur (read: TRENDY) in the millennial metal underground. Instead, each passage patiently unfolds and establishes its intended texture, terrorizing the mind and body with oppressive physical/spiritual weight - even (and especially) when stripped back to foggy, tension-inducing mist. The consequently linear songwriting soon works its sepulchral magic, as lurching 'n' lumbering riffs are stretched into hammering trances, sending undulating waves of absolute ritualism deep into the listener's core. Which is all to say nothing of the production on Parazv Il Zilittv, which somehow manages to make Summon sound creepier despite the clearer and more cutting recording style. With Aesthetics of Demise, Summon proved that their smashed-psyche sorcery transcended the usual "sepulchral death metal" tropes. Now, with Parazv Il Zilittv, they prove that that sorcery is potent enough to simultaneously open and close the crypt of time eternal. How far will you step in/out? Statement from the band: "The theme of classic horror movies is something that is in the genes of Lamori. In this video we wanted to visualize some of the horror aspects in the songs lyrics. But we did not want to do a short horror movie based on the lyrics. Our idea was instead to create this visual enhancer of the whole ghastly atmosphere found in the song." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i04LFv11KE&feature=youtu.be Video credits Shot by: Carolina Juselius Edited by: Mikael Westerlund Produced by: LAMORI Thanks to: City of Mariehamn & Erik Raitanen Blending the lines between gothic metal and modern rock, Finnish five piece Lamori likes to stir things up. Their music is inspired by classic horror movies, old romanticism and musical acts such as The 69 Eyes, Depeche Mode, Stone Sour, The Doors and early HIM. Hailing from the Aland Islands, a municipality of Finland, the band has played together since 2009 and released one EP and two albums. This summer the band will hit the studio to record their third album, a follow up to 2016’s To Die Once Again. www.lamorimusic.com www.facebook.com/lamorimusic twitter.com/lamorimusic www.youtube.com/user/lamorimusic For the Fallen Dreams have shared the video for the song "Unstoppable" taken from their new album Six, out now via Rise Records. You can watch 'Unstoppable' here "We are excited to announce the release of our second official single fromSix, titled 'Unstoppable,' shot and edited by our very own [bassist] Brandon Stastny," the band said. "We shot this on the beautiful, wintery coast of Grand Haven, Michigan on top of Lake Michigan's shelf ice formations — a common phenomenon within the Great Lakes caused by lake portions freezing and colliding on shore." "We were just a few hundred yards from shore, but it felt like we were lost in the Arctic Circle. That particular day turned out to be the only clear, sunny day of the month, so it couldn't have been more perfect." The band also previously shared the video for "Stone."
