The Black Dahlia Murder's sixth full-length album, "Everblack", will be released worldwide in June 2013. The album artwork for "Everblack" was painted by renowned artist Nick Keller, recording was completed at Audiohammer Studios (lead guitars and vocals), Rustbelt Studios (drums), and Regal Fecal (guitar and bass), mixing was handled by Jason Suecof and Ryan Williams and mastering was completed by Alan Douches at West Westside.
Trevor Strnad's horror-inspired lyrics persist on "Everblack", beginning with 'In Hell is Where She Waits for Me', a reference to the murder from which the band took for their moniker. Vocalist Trevor Strnad elaborates on the lyrical concepts: "The opening track is the first actual song we've done about the Black Dahlia. This one is for the fans, they've been asking for this to happen for a long time. The story takes place at the Elizabeth Short's rain drenched funeral, where her killer in attendance, just one of the many macabre tales woven into the fabric of Everblack. Subterranean flesh-farming vampires, vine rape, Jeffery Dahmer, amputation, it's all here! With this sixth slab of sickness I tried my best to honor the band's legacy and write lyrics that will keep the legions of horror fiends perspiring with fear." Red Bull Studios are preparing to launch a nationwide opportunity on the 9th April 2013, offering aspiring unsigned bands the chance to take their career to the next level through a professional studio experience, expert mentoring and a slot on stage at the prestigious Download Festival which runs from 14th-16th June 2013.
Red Bull Studios Live at Download 2013 will officially launch at www.redbullstudios.com/downloadfestival on Tuesday 9th April. Bands will be invited to upload a video to the site where they will be voted for by the general public and judged by a panel of leading industry experts including:
From the bands that enter, 100 will be shortlisted by public vote and put forward to the judges. 15 bands will then be chosen by the panel to head to Red Bull Studios in London for an all-encompassing professional studio experience. Of those, 8 bands will go through to play on the Red Bull Studios Live stage at Download Festival. What do bands need to do? Once they have uploaded their profile, it will be monitored and ranked in real time on a chart which measures the amount of hype bands are creating across the web, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other sources of online activity. However, good old-fashioned votes will still be the most powerful source to help bands rise up the chart. Then what? At 5pm on Friday 26th April the top 100 bands that have promoted themselves best, securing the most hype and votes will go through to the next round to be judged by the panel. Exciting! – and then? 6th – 10th May: From the top 100 hyped bands, our panel of expert judges will choose a final 15 to head down to the state of the art Red Bull Studios in London where they will be given a professional studio experience, getting them ready to take to the festival stage. For unsigned bands it doesn’t come much better than this: to experience the lifestyle of a professional musician, the 15 bands will get to record in the studio with expert producers on hand, be mentored by the music industry panel as well as get practical tips from Don Broco. They will have professional press shots created, media training to help them practice their interview technique, plus other surprises to be unveiled on the day. What about the festival slot? Short films of each of the 15 finalists performing at Red Bull Studios will then go back online for the public to decide who they think should make it onto the Red Bull Studios Live stage at Download Festival 2013. Century Media have done it again, they have gone back in time and gathered together a whole host of entire demo recordings done by Finnish Death Metal masochists Necropsy. The band started out in the late 1980's / early 1990's and was firmly part of the Death Metal scene, regardless of it's miniscule size at the time. Alongside the band, names like Sentenced, Amorphis, Demigod and Adramelech but to name a few, they were pushing Finnish Metal into greater areas. Sadly they did not captivate a huge audience until 2008, then everything changed and in 2013 it will change again...
“Tomb Of The Forgotten – The Complete Demo Recordings” (to be released on 3rd June, 2013) features the band’s complete demo recordings, from the first demo “Mental Disturbance” (released in 1989) until the last recorded tune “Anointing Of The Sick” (released in 1993). The entire material has been carefully remastered at DMS Mastering Studio (Morbid, Asphyx, Grave etc) from the original tapes. The cover has been designed by César Valladares (Asphyx, Krisiun etc.) and perfectly captures the spirit of the ancient death metal demo days. Timo Hanhirova of Miasma Mag (Finland) has done a detailed interview with Necropsy’s main man Janne Kosonen and former guitarist Aatu Holma telling the entire story of the band. India's extreme metal veterans Demonic Resurrection have completed 13 years as a band and announced their 4th full-length album.
This is a huge move for the metal band as when they were featured on Sam Dunn's 'Global Metal' documentary in 2007 (which was 6 years ago), the Indian Metal scene was noted as only just starting to expand and at that point no major metal band had played in India, until legends Iron Maiden played there which evidently proved to be a revelation and fans from all over the Indian subcontinent (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc) came to watch the show. As for Demonic Resurrection, they were the first Indian Metal band to be signed to a Western record label, British label Candlelight Records. However 2 years later fellow countrymen Kryptos ended up being signed to German label AFM Records. Demonic Resurrection then went on to play at Bloodstock Open Air 2012, this sparked off a series of Indian Metal bands also playing in Europe. The band made the following update as well as releasing a photo album of their studio drum tracking sessions,: "On 6th April 2000 we, played our first show with Naked Earth, Sceptre and Metakix. We complete 13 years as a band today. We have no special announcements, no special events planned, no special release or anything. The last two years have been very hard for us and none the less we've not given up, we may be down now but we're far from out. At this point we're am however happy to say that we have hit the studios and begun recording our 4th full-length album. It will be released this year so stay tuned. A massive thanks to all our fans, well wishers and supporters who have kept us going over years and supported us. Cheers & Stay Demonic!" Canadian extreme metal veterans Cryptopsy have just released their official lyric video for the song "The Golden Square Mile." This comes off of the band's self-titled release, which came out last autumn and was greeted with mass approval from critics and long-time fans who have been thirsting for the return of Cryptopsy's tech-death glory days.
