On 'Towards The Tomb Of Times’ Naxen consolidates their own contemporary take on black metal which is truthful to the Scandinavian heritage and incorporates the atmospheric counterpart of USBM and East-European melodies. With four tracks spanning over 47 minutes, the album explores the weakness of mankind, the unavoidable loss and the inevitable failure of our species.
All elements constituting "Towards The Tomb Of Times" and their songs of darkness and loss engraved on this record are illustrative of how Naxen has progressed dramatically in terms of sound and song-writing since their original conception in 2018. Extreme Deformity are considered by many as the most famous Hungarian death metal band. Founded in 1990, the band was also the first ever Hungarian band to be celebrated with a postcard and stamp for their 30th anniversary. Disbanded in 1995, Extreme Deformity released a demo in 1992 and a full-length entitled "Internal" came in 1993. These records have been re-released on CD in 2011 by Hungarian label Neverheard Distro, which is now working on the re-mastered re-release of "Internal" album and "Demo 1992" on double 12" vinyl. The closing track on the EP is "Your Song." No, not an Elton John cover but "the most emotional Crossfaith song of all time. It's about the emptiness and sorrow of a time that will not return," whether that's death or the loss of a friendship or a lover. "It's about farewell. I feel sadness but those emotions make me strong and teach me to not take things for granted. It's not a ballad but it is a very beautiful song. I think people will be surprised by it." And surprising people is exactly what Crossfaith want to do, even after eleven years of making music. "That's the main role of the band," promises Ken. "I hope," he continues before deciding on a more forceful word, "Actually, I believe this EP will set the course for the band for the next ten years. We've already started making more new music.
