Raise your steins, it’s party time! Stop what you are doing and get yourself a bottle of rum as Australia’s favourite party pirates Lagerstein have just dropped a new single! Releasing their very own pirate rendition of the 80’s Eddie Murphy & Rick James classic “Party All the Time” this crew know how to instantly create a party banger.

Mixing hilarious pirate shenanigans with rock and folk metal, the pirate crew hailing from Brisbane are known for their legendary stage show, which brings a house party to the heavy metal show. Teaming up with Swedish wizard and legendary metal producer Fredrik Nordström of Studio Fredman, the crew have created a version that we can now party all the time too!

Picture

Lagerstein guitarist Neil Rummy Rackers had this to say on the new single:

“We started playing this song in practice for fun a while back when someone was late. We knew immediately that it would work in a live setting. Since then we have performed it all through Europe, UK and Australia, so it was only fitting that for Lagerfest V we release it as a single. We were very excited to be working with the legendary Fredrik Nordström in Sweden who has made it sound absolutely massive!”

Check it out here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi2ISIp_aoA

Lagerfest V starts Saturday in Melbourne at Max Watts. You have three chances to catch this incredible band live and have a few beers to say the least!

Chile's Xalpen release new EP "Wowk Otrr" via Morbid Skull Records

13/9/2018

Picture

Black metal force Xalpen was initiated by Alvaro Lillo (Execrator, Kako Daimon, Undercroft, Watain - live) & Juan Pablo Nuñez. Their debut offering "Black Rites" was embraced with deep reverence in the black metal circle. Two years later, Xalpen has come up with their sophomore EP "Wowk Otrr" , which is out today through Morbid Skull Records on CD, Vinyl and Cassette formats.

Stream "Wowk Otrr" in its entirety AT THIS LOCATION

Picture

Xalpen is a raw Black Metal manifestation which emerges with real conviction and complete devotion by channelling ritualistic vibrations within the black arts and the spiritual development. Guided by ancestral traditions of ancient occult knowledge. Euphoria, ecstasy, trance and satanic commitment have taken form between the different hemispheres of the planet. Two Chilean demons Juan Pablo Nuñez (guitars & vocals) and Alvaro Lillo (bass & vocals) manifest and complete the endeavour (all music & lyrics) they started back in 2014.

To begin: A spiritual and conceptual mini album called "Black Rites" was assembled and released in 2016 under the banner of Morbid Skull Recs (El Salvador-Central America) and jointly distributed through Chamber of Horns (Europe).

To continue on the dark path: A second mini album was spawned in 2017 far down at the Deep South. “Wowk Otrr”, the seven audio tracks charged opus supremely emits the refurbished form of imperishable ‘90s spirit, both sonority and aesthetic wise. Morbid Skull Records is again taking care of the release and the EP is out on CD, Tape and 12" MLP from September 13, 2018.

More to come: A third MLP, with 3 new songs, is on the way to be out of the silent chambers of the Xalpen`s lair in a very short time, it will contain some interesting release details, soon to be announced. Also a few other plans and ideas will be appearing in the dark path, like a split album, videos, live performances, more new releases, merchandise, etc.

Mexico's Xibalba Itzaes sets release date for new Nuclear War Now! album; reveals first track

9/9/2018

Picture

Nuclear War Now! Productions sets December 15th as the international release date for Xibalba Itzaes' highly anticipated second album, Ah Tza Xibalba Itzaes, on vinyl LP format. The CD version shall be released earlier on October 31st.

It has been over 24 years since the original Xibalba released its first album, Ah Dzam Poop Ek, in 1994. Since then, this unique cult of Mayan black metal has survived an extended period of inactivity and has more recently released a series of shorter recordings that merely served to whet its audience’s appetite for something more complete.

Throughout this time, Nuclear War Now! has demonstrated its admiration and offered its support by reissuing the aforementioned debut full-length and Ancients demos compilation on vinyl, in addition to releasing the band’s Demo 2010 cassette and Ah Tza! EP from 2015. However, it has taken nearly a quarter century to release its second full-length, Ah Tza Xibalba Itzaes, which is hereby also presented by NWN!, albeit under the revised band moniker of Xibalba Itzaes.

This change in name, although potentially misleading, was deemed necessary to distinguish itself from another band who had either callously or ignorantly assumed the same title in recent years. As with previous recordings, Ah Tza Xibalba Itzaes combines the more commonly-recognized elements of black metal pioneered by the band’s early influences, such as Bathory, with others inspired by the pre-Hispanic traditions of the members’ Mayan ancestors. The resulting sound is one that has made the band one of the most unique black metal bands to have hailed from present-day Mexico.

Ah Tza Xibalba Itzaes is comprised of a total of 12 tracks, of which eight are completely new and four are re-recorded songs that originally appeared on the preceding EPs and 2010 demo. The album’s production is sharp and cutting with only relatively light usage of varying effects (other than distortion), which is a refreshing contrast to those who rely on a shroud of reverb and delay to create an atmosphere that obscures the instruments themselves.

4. Rituals in the Sun

7. Nine Steps Below
8. Dawn of Endless Horrors
9. Ekab
10. The Owl
11. Ah Tza Xibalba Itzaes
12. Katun II (The First Chronicle)

Xibalba Itzaes’ connection to their cultural heritage is evident in the themes explored throughout, which include regular references to Mayan deities and related apocalyptic folklore. As such, Ah Tza Xibalba Itzaes hails the return of the warriors of the Mesoamerican black metal underworld and the Mayan death gods who spawned them and whose spirit they revere.

In the meantime, hear the new track "Throughout the Equinox" HERE at Nuclear War Now!'s Bandcamp.

French Blackened Post-Core band Demande À La Poussière, who recently unveiled some hotly anticipated details about their upcoming and self-titled debut album, has just unleashed a brand new song! Set for an album release on September 28th 2018 via Argonauta Records, with their solid and eclectic attitude Demande À La Poussière deliver an impressive hypnotic yet aggressive sound which move from Blackened Post Metal to Sludge and Doom, with an apocalyptic vibe of ambient bleakness. Dive into the dark sound of Demande À La Poussière and stream their brand new song 'Le Parfum Des Cites Perdues' right HERE!

Says the band:

“Le parfum des cités perdues is a track about remembrance and anger against our haunted past. This is a part of rage and heaviness about the strangeness of sad feedback. Music lower and louder than a nightmare. Follow the dark side of our memory...“

Demande À La Poussière is a Blackened Post-Core band founded in 2017 by members of The Great Old Ones, Wurm or Omrade. Members are: Jeff (vocals and guitar - The Great Old Ones / Spectrale), Edgard Chevallier (machine - ex Würm / Gloomy Hellium Bath), Vincent Baglin (Moshi-Moshi-battery), Krys (chant-Nerv / Omrade) and Jiu (Bass -ex No return), the band quickly recorded a first album at Lower Tones Place Studio in September 2017. The band has diverse influences to offer a unique style: Combining the heaviness of Sludge and Doom, the blackness of Black Metal, the intensity of Post Hardcore tinged post rock atmosphere. This music is impacting, encompassing and intense. The name of the band is taken from a book by John Fante, but there is no connection to see it as the deep darkness of the music leads to other feelings.

Finland's Excuse reveal new video from forthcoming Shadow Kingdom debut album

8/9/2018

Uprising speed metal cult Excuse reveal a new video for "Sworn to the Crimson Oath." The track hails from the band's highly anticipated debut album, Prophets From the Occultic Cosmos, which will be released during the first quarter of 2019 via Shadow Kingdom Records on CD and vinyl LP formats. See & hear Excuse's "Sworn to the Crimson Oath" video HERE.

One of Finland's hottest newcomers, Excuse began to make a name for themselves with their EP Goddess Injustice. Released to critical acclaim in 2016 by Shadow Kingdom, Goddess Injustice largely introduced the fierce foursome to the international metal underground - with a nuclear-powered bang! A finely honed missile of speed metal majesty, Excuse's sound on that EP in many ways recalled the classic Canadian gods Sacrifice and Razor, but there were hints of greater glories to come. And at last, they've arrived with the presciently titled Prophets From the Occultic Cosmos.

Whereas Goddess Injustice suggested some darkly melodic leanings, Excuse's first full-length expands that arsenal considerably. Here, the six songs comprising Prophets From the Occultic Cosmos stretch out to epic lengths - one even hitting double digits, the climactic 10-minute closer "Watchtower of the Trans-Dimensional Pathway" - and take the listener on a wild, winding ride. The evil 'n' sleazy surge on which Excuse made their name still exists, but has now been finesse into a wholly more dynamic beast, able to reflect haunting moodiness and spacey horror alike. Suitably, co-guitarist Oskar Lindström's vocals have a conspicuous amount of echo placed upon them, suggesting the inter-dimensional struggles of a narrator literally lost in space. Likewise, fellow guitarist Anselmi Ahopalo's leads take centre stage here and weave an almost storytelling aspect, much in the way that classic heavy metal songwriting should, evoking both triumph and tragedy but remaining equally hummable throughout. Completing the totality is album's production, which locates the perfect balance between grit and gleam.

So many young bands blow their proverbial wad during the demo/EP days and peter out by the time their debut album comes. Not so for Excuse, who have been able to transform their earlier youthful energy into enviably advanced maturity with Prophets From the Occultic Cosmos. Behold these Prophets' coming!

Release date, cover art, tracklisting, and preorder info to be announced shortly. In the meantime, see & hear the video for "Sworn to the Crimson Oath" HERE. For more info, consult the links below.

USA's Rapheumets Well announce October 26th as the release date for "The Elder’s Anthology"

8/9/2018

Picture

Blending a sound that is a complex mix of classical orchestrations, cosmic synths, and extreme metal to portray the epics of parallel worlds, Hickory, N.C. based Rapheumets Well (Ra-few-mets) bring forth a voyage enriched with lore, fabricated from scratch to show the depth in which represents them as artists. From the birth of organic matter to great wars that tear the fabric of space/time, the story of Rapheumets Well’s music serves to immerse you into a world of oddities.

Inspired by the fictitious universe of the Atai, Rapheumets Well is the name coined to the conscious deity who oversees the anastomosis of the multiverse, the master of portals and inter-dimensional travel.  Being personified as a trickster, Rapheumet often creates chaos for unsuspecting voyagers.  The word “Well” refers to the gravity wells, which like black holes, are catalyst of change and gateways between the cosmic plains.

“We created this name in hopes of personifying a living gateway between dimensions. We love science fiction and a few of us have extended education and degrees in science.” s
ays drummer Joshua Ward.

Unleashing three albums over the years, Dimensions (2014), Exile (2016) and Enders Door (2017) that progressively told a larger story portrayed in a complex saga of the Atai (ancient architects) who aid in the propagation of sentient life throughout the multi-verse, the band returns in 2018 with their epic “The Elder’s Anthology”, a trilogy of sorts featuring selective tracks remixed and remastered from those releases due out on October 26th from Test Your Metal Records.

4. Resurgence
5. Witch of Darkspire
6. The Betrayer (Part One)

8. Distress On The Aberrant Planet
9. Ghost Walkers Exodus

The band comments:

"'The Elder's Anthology' is a collection of songs (we felt) are important in re-igniting the lore of the previous albums. With new changes and new members, we felt it was important to transpose their skills into the foundation of the band. The Elder's Anthology is re-mastered with updated guitars, vocals, and baselines and we fell this was appropriate for moving forward with the next full length album!"

Their first single "The Betrayer" in support of “The Elder’s Anthology” is now streaming via Youtube channel Black Metal Promotion at https://youtu.be/kPym5DiG700

Rapheumets Well is also offering fans an immediate download of their tracks "Resurrecting The Blood Gate" and "The Betrayer" with album pre-order via the band's Bandcamp here.

Evanescence set to release 'Synthesis Live' DVD on 12th October via Eagle Vision

8/9/2018

“This comes from the core, the heart of the original vision for Evanescence”
– Amy Lee

On 12 October 2018, Evanescence will be releasing ‘Synthesis Live’ on DVD, Blu-ray, DVD+CD, Blu-Ray+CD set and digital video via Eagle Vision.

Recorded late last Autumn during the band’s critically-acclaimed Synthesis tour, the concert was captured in state-of-the-art 4K by director P.R. Brown & produced by Craig Ziogas/CTGS Productions.

The songs span Evanescence’s 20-year history to date, reinvented with a full orchestra over a deep electronic landscape. Synthesis is a soulful and sweepingly grandiose event to witness live.  Seated at the piano, Amy Lee opens the set with a single note that builds into the instrumental Overture, seamlessly leading into the crushing wave that is Never Go Back.

Bring Me To Life, the anthem that lead many people to discover Evanescence, reaches a new level of power and emotion with a pounding, electric heartbeat and soaring orchestral accompaniment, while songs like My Immortal, Lithium and Lost in Paradise evoke heartbreaking scenes from a beautiful, timeless film.

Amy Lee’s incredible vocal range and the group’s expressive, multi-layered music naturally lends itself to orchestral accompaniment, shining a light on the singular beauty of the arrangements by composer David Campbell and conductor Susie Seiter creating a truly dynamic, cinematic sound.  Lee has called this, ‘a passion project’, which undoubtedly shines through. The sense of occasion is not lost on the band or audience alike in this unique and highly emotive show.

Evanescence recently took their Synthesis live tour around the world, delivering highly-acclaimed performances throughout Europe, North America and Australia. This summer, the band teamed with violinist Lindsey Stirling on a tour of North American amphitheatres - one of Live Nation’s Top 10 tours of the summer.
