For several years, Voyager has been petitioning to be selected as one of Australia's musical representatives in Eurovision - Australia Decides. After being shortlisted in the previous year's competition, the band has finally been tapped to represent Western Australia, making it the first time that the region has hope of winning the Eurovision title! The band will soon reveal the song that has been selected in the contest! Voyager vocalist and keytarist Danny Estrin comments: "Eurovision is the greatest show on earth, so getting a chance to represent Western Australia and to showcase our keytar driven brand of heavy music is one of the most exciting and surreal opportunities to ever come our way!! So thank you Australia for giving us the opportunity to take you on a Voyage with us in what has been a lifelong dream." In 2020, Voyager's music video for "Runaway" was exclusively premiered via 'Eurovision - Australia Decides!' Following an application via the Song Portal, the band finally received recognition for submitting a track and were paid tribute on the live television broadcast that aired on Saturday, February 8 on the Gold Coast. The can be seen at THIS LOCATION. The song was taken from Voyager's 2019 release 'Colours in the Sun,' which received a wealth of international accolades. Recently, the single "Brightstar" was the first place winner in the Rock / Alternative category of the USA songwriting contest! Last year, 'Colours in the Sun' was the winner of The Independent Music Award in the Rock/Hard Rock Album category. The record was released in November of 2019 and landed a coveted #1 placement on the Australian Independent Albums chart! Australian modern prog metallers Ironstone unveil music video for new single "Mr.Struggle"30/10/2021 
Ironstone have released their new single ‘Mr. Struggle’, the first since releasing their debut EP ‘Prophecy’ last year. The video had its world premiere yesterday at metal.de. Navigating through difficult emotions, ‘Mr. Struggle’ is the story of a man who cannot cope with a manipulative relationship. Unequipped to deal with the psychological abuse, he pleads for relief before eventually coming unravelled. The lyrics touch upon the idea that when it comes to emotional games, it’s not always a level playing field. This paints the picture of someone who struggles with more intense emotions and especially needs a degree of allowance and understanding. Mr. Struggle is definitely a step in a more progressive direction for the band. With ambient sections and melodic vocals through to breakdowns, heavy percussive guitars, technical drumming and extreme vocals, the band uses everything at their disposal to evoke drama and tell a compelling story of pain and vulnerability. The release is accompanied by a music video, shot over a long period in between COVID lockdowns. It shows Mr. Struggle desperately trying to hide the situation in front of friends, versus the reality of what’s going on behind closed doors. In the end he breaks, and the story takes a very dark turn. "It’s definitely our most ambitious video project yet, and the first time we’ve ventured away from just performance footage. Denouncement Pyre was established in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, as an underground black / death metal act.  Melbourne metalcore risers Drown This City have released their earth-shattering EP "Colours We Won't Know" yesterday via UNFD. Following their earlier music video for single “New Burn Order,” the band are celebrating today's release with the reveal of a music video for EP standout “Carbon14.” “Carbon14” was written lyrically by DTC bassist / vocalist Toby Thomas, who shares that the track is a comparison between carbon isotope (or, Carbon 14) and himself – where the former is an atom known for being in a constant state of decay, Thomas describes how he has often felt this way in relation to his mental health journey as he goes on to explain:- "The lyrics are a personal expression of the inner turmoil I have felt between the fight for positivity while also not believing it is something my atomic structure would ever allow me to experience. "The story is told from the perspective of a man who has spent years working at his mental health only to feel a sense of failure and constant short comings. It describes the mental turmoil the character is experiencing whilst trying to stay on track to better himself instead of giving in to his demons and settling into the comfort of a darker state of mind." Drown This City boldly tackle further conversations concerning mental health, grappling with childhood trauma and healing returning wounds on their new EP "Colours We Won't Know".  Melbourne metalcore risers Drown This City have announced their new EP "Colours We Won't Know" will be released on Friday 28th May via UNFD. Following their new single and video 'New Burn Order' last month, the band are following up with a fierce new cut from the EP titled 'Borderline Existence' today. DTC vocalist Alex Reade shares how the track's haunting scenario – depicting a person's out of body experience watching on at themselves trapped in an asylum – represents the agitation and anger she’s experienced feeling forced to pursue a certain path due to external pressure placed on her:- "I've found myself wearing thin because of this, wondering what I was fighting against and how long could I keep going for. This song reflects the battle I feel to succeed against all odds, fuelled by sheer terror that my life will be for nothing. The line ‘I really thought that I’d amount to something, I should have known you’d get me in the end’ really reflects the exhaustion I feel wondering if I can keep going with this fight to be heard and understood. I’m exhausted, always pushing against, trying to win, trying to get ‘there’ and I just don’t know where that is any more.”
Drown This City's Alex Reade describes the band's 2021 EP as the ultimate purge of darkness. While their 2019 release "Alpha // Survivor" had been the proving ground for her strength and overcoming, "Colours We Won’t Know" finds the vocalist winding back the clock and standing face to face with the past torment she thought had been put to rest. “I think being in lockdown in Melbourne left us no choice but to face whatever we were running from, and that time drew every bit of honesty with myself out of me. It was very confronting to feel such sadness in me again, but I worked through all of the disgust and shame I’d been suppressing, and we’ve written our saddest and bleakest songs to date because of it.” Musically, DTC find themselves at their absolute heaviest and collaborating on themes and ideas as a band and team more than ever. With a freshly formed core writing group at play — comprising Reade (lyrics), guitarist Josh Renjen leading instrumentation and new bassist/vocalist and co-lyricist Toby Thomas — together the band push every boundary possible. One of the earliest Australian bands to play thrash/speed metal, Nothing Sacred was conceived in Melbourne, Australia in 1983. Unleashing their debut EP "Deathwish" in early 1985, launching the band as one of the most sought-after pit makers with the record's title track becoming a classic within the Australian metal scene. In 1988, the band unleashed their first full-length entitled "Let Us Prey" on Cleopatra Records. Unfortunately a year after the LP's release, the band disbanded in 1989. Lead guitarist Mark Woolley, bassist Karl Lean and drummer Sham went on to contribute to Hobbs' Angel of Death's early work in the late 1980s. Woolley also appeared on Hobbs' first self-titled album in 1988. Vocalist Mick Burnham later joined short-lived Melbourne band Seizure in 1993. Although their tenure was short-lived, Nothing Sacred still remains an underground metal phenomenon in Australia. Songs from the Deathwish EP still get airplay on several Australian metal radio programs. In 2012, Nothing Sacred performed a series 30th anniversary shows with Ross Percy (Ion Drive, Little House Godz) joining George Larin on guitar that included a support slot for the ex-Iron Maiden vocalists Paul Di'Anno/Blaze Bayley Australian tour. Despite the success, the band agreed not to continue and returned to retirement. In 2015, the band decided to re-activate with a line-up of Sham, Karl Lean, George Larin, Ross Percy, and new vocalist Chris Stark. A slot on Melbourne's Brewtality Metal Festival received positive reviews before the band embarked on a short tour of Japan, which inspired them to continue and lead the band to headline day one of the Steel Assassins Festival in Sydney. Line-up changes again slowed the band, but with the addition of James Davies now on vocals and Stu Bedford on guitar, the band spent most of 2019 and 2020 writing and recording, what is now to be their first full length in over 30 years. Entitled "No Gods", the record is the Nothing Sacred's resurrection to the thrash world. With a wealth of experience, a bucket load of riffs, and a renewed energy for one of Australia’s longest-running metal bands.
The band adds: "We think our return with this new album will be received well. We've made a conscious effort to not be one-dimensional. We picked a cross-section of tracks we thought would make the album interesting. Though eight of the tracks are brand new, we decided to add two tracks 'Final Crime' and 'Oracle' we wrote for our 2nd album in the late 80's, but never released." To give fans a preview of what's to come, Nothing Sacred is sharing their music video for the first single "Final Crime". The band comments: "This is one of the two tracks we'd chosen for the No Gods album from our archives that we'd written many moons ago. I saw acid rain and smog, you saw the sunset and a rainbow. There’s no tomorrow just a blank, you’ve only got yourself to thank. Don’t tell me that you never knew, you thought that hope would pull you through. I think those are our favourite lines from Mick Burnham. There's nothing like stupid people doing nothing till it's too late. Though this is one of our favourite tracks for some reason, it was never properly recorded and released. Here she is in all her glory, enjoy!" Australian Progressive Metal Band Ironstone releases Hollow. They state: “We’re thrilled to present 'Hollow’, the third single from our debut EP, Prophecy. The song addresses one of the largest challenges facing our generation today... the state of the Earth’s ecology. This topic evokes a range of emotions, from anger and despair through to disbelief and sadness. Despite this, Hollow is about hope and the part we need to play in affecting our future for the better." Hollow’s lyrics caution against a path of ongoing greed and excess and cynically invite the listener to ‘gorge upon the bounty’ without considering anyone else or the consequences of their actions, giving a healthy dose of clarity in a reverse psychology package. Hollow has a sound that is as nuanced as the message it delivers. The guitars while conveying frustration and rage are offset by carefully placed ambient elements. The whole song fluctuates between bursts of percussive, aggressive guitar, technical drumming and beautiful melodies that overflow with emotional tension. All of this culminates in a big build-up and pay-off to help drive the message home! The video for Hollow features orange and blue lighting, giving it a jarring, dramatic theme. Individual shots are complemented by graphics, glitches, and symbols, giving the clip a frantic atmosphere that helps to convey a feeling of urgency.
