Chaostar are now streaming their complete forthcoming album, 'The Undivided Light'. The Greek  avant-garde explorers will release their fascinating fifth full-length on March 23rd, 2018.

'The Undivided Light' is now premiering at the link below, which can be published immediately.

Chaostar vocalist Androniki Skoula comments:

"The human being as an individual and as a master of his own destiny appears again as the central core around which our forthcoming album, 'The Undivided Light' revolves. We have always been attracted to the investigation of the womb in which our secretive and most tiring battles take place. There is no blood there, no human casualties, no weapons, but only arsenals of strength and belief, waiting for us to prove that we deserve the feasts that life has provided us unconditionally. Silent soldiers confronting their lethal decisions, an ancient conspiracy in the subconscious, memories, and intentions merging into a crystal magic ball, a two-sided coin.

Life and death, this price has to be paid. The light that leads cannot be divided, its flame sprung from the opened doors of knowledge and wandered in silent yards, confronting the eternal circle of yin and yang. Its flame asks from each of us to be remembered. Its flames demand to be protected and kept alive, either to light the way or to burn down. 'The Undivided Light' is an album that does not just 'comment' on someone's ability to defend certain values, but it is mostly a statement of the band's contributors that outlines the secretive 'liaison' between memory and conscience.

The extent of conscience in our actions defends the real value of any kind of memory that we inherit towards others and also towards ourselves. In the end, the level of self-redemption does not only relate to our actions, but mostly to the pretext into which we include them. Remembrance has become a struggle, it is not an easy medal to gain, an undivided flame that burns on the soil of our soul. May we be remembered."

'The Undivided Light' comes as an invitation to a fascinating musical journey around the globe, which is equally true for space as well as time. Chaostar is far more than just a side-project of Septicflesh guitarist Christos Antoniou.

Chaostar was conceived out of Christos' longing to create music that reflects more on his aspect as an academy trained composer and go beyond the possibilities that his orchestral arrangements for Septicflesh offer. After all, the guitarist finished his studies of classical composition in London with honours and distinction.

When Septicflesh released their single, "The Eldest Cosmonaut" in 1998, the Greek band took a step towards classical music, which in turn inspired Christos to create Chaostar to pursue this course even further.

Out of a timeless confrontation of different sounds and styles rose an avant-garde concept for emotional music to which vocalist Natalie Rassoulis added a feminine voice. After a first statement of intent via a demo entitled 'The Underworld' in 2000, Chaostar released the albums 'Chaostar' (2000), 'Threnody' (2001), and 'The Scarlet Queen' (2004), as well as the 'Underworld' compilation in 2007.

After a self-imposed hiatus of both Chaostar and Septicflesh, Christos decided to revive his project as well when the latter reunited. The former returned with their fourth full-length, which was based on a Greek word roughly translating as "sin". 'Anomima' featured the celestial vocals of new singer Androniki Skoula, who also contributed most of the lyrics.

'Anomima' brilliantly combined rich, classical orchestration with lush soundscapes and modern textures, and even some elements of extreme music. Chaostar easily adopted a global musical language that induced the listener into a dreamlike trance with geographically unchained sounds.

With the 'The Undivided Light', Chaostar take their experimentation another step further. Classic orchestration, traditional instruments, electronica, rock, and more are deconstructed by Christos only to be reassembled into something fresh and exciting. 'The Undivided Light' gives new meaning to the term world music.

Belgium's Wound Collector releases "Divine Music, Unholy Flesh" video

In the run-up to the release of the debut album "Eternal Bloodcult" by Wound Collector May 24th 2018 the band releases its first official video for the song "Divine Music, Unholy Flesh" in high definition (HD).

The album can be pre-ordered, just follow the link below...

Pre-Order "Eternal Bloodcult" HERE...

Wound Collector: Divine Music, Unholy Flesh (Official video) https://youtu.be/dte8ePmwMtM

According to Peter: "The song depicts Italian Renaissance composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina as a devote Catholic composer. According to the Council of Trento his music was to be considered the highest and purest form of Catholic music. However the 12 popes he served during his lifetime were all engaged in nepotism, the Inquisition, anti-Semitism and indulged in luxury."

Belgium’s epic saxophonised death metallers Wound Collector, are ready to release their full length debut ‘Eternal Bloodcult’ on the masses. The foursome of Peter Verdonck (vocals / saxophone), Kurt Hermans (bass / vocals), Guy Van Campenhout (guitars / vocals) and Ben Van Peteghem (drums) mix an old school death metal vibe with modern accents, a hefty dose of saxophone, triple vocal attacks and progressively brutal songs into a whirlwind of death, negativity and hopelessness.

The music is diverse and challenging while maintaining that catchy vibe. Lyrically, the band centres their songs around moments in history that are often forgotten or neglected, thus unearthing them to a wider audience. The saxophone assaults are more than filler, as Wound Collector uses this instrument to its full potential, therefore becoming a necessary mainstay in all songs, be it in melody, rhythm or lead-shape.

Seattle's Eye Of Nix premiers "Wound And Scar" via Decibe; Black Somnia release day nears

'Black Somnia' is the impending new album from Seattle-based avant doom conjurors Eye Of Nix. Slated to drop on December 15th via newly-launched Scry Recordings, the stunning new offering was captured by legendary producer Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Om, Pallbearer) at The Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon and mastered by Brad Boatwright (Gatecreeper, Necrot).

In advance of its release, Decibel Magazine offers up the punishing sounds of "Wound And Scar" for public consumption. Issues Eye Of Nix vocalist Joy Von Spain of the track:-

"In the song 'Wound And Scar,' we strove to evoke finality and resolution through repetitive bass-heavy rhythms accentuated with piano and distorted gong. The lyrics came from a dream about a woman brutally intent upon ending a cycle of fear imprinted on ancestors and passed down through DNA, halting a lineage of misery at any cost. I had been reading about an experiment in which two generations of mice were shown to react with anxiety when exposed to a new and innocuous scent (cherry blossoms), simply because their predecessors had been made to fear it."

Hear "Wound And Scar," courtesy of Decibel Magazine, at THIS LOCATION.

And if you missed it, hear excerpts of "A Curse" and "Fear's Ascent" RIGHT HERE.

Black Somnia will be available digitally and in a full colour gatefold LP presentation with 180-gram black vinyl, limited to 250 copies. Pre-order Black Somnia at THIS LOCATION.

Eye Of Nix's 'Black Somnia' centres itself on themes of fear, control, and anxiety while shape-shifting through a lens of blackened psychedelia and doom. "Black Somnia includes five new pieces and a re-imagining of 'A Curse.' Our goal for the recording was to frame the songs' turbulence and tension with layers of atmosphere," relays Vin Spain. "We also worked intensively with occult artist/photographer Anima Nocturna (Carlos Melgoza) and an international group of Butoh performers to create the album's ritual-based visual element."

Eye Of Nix first began to create abrasive yet kaleidoscopic sounds together in 2012. Current members vocalist Joy Von Spain, guitarist Nicholas Martinez, new bassist Zach Wise (Hissing), and noise/sound collage artist Masaaki Masao strive to conjure music that's threatening, beautiful, and harsh. Eye Of Nix toured the west coast with noise veterans Blue Sabbath Black Cheer in 2013, then chose an expanded route including the rockies and south-west in 2015. Since their inception, Eye Of Nix has shared the stage with diverse notable acts such as Voivod, Jarboe, SubRosa, Sea of Bones, King Dude, Lesbian, Worm Ouroboros, Eight Bells, Tengger Cavalry, and more.

Moros, their first LP, was released in 2015 via Eugene-based imprint Belief Mower (Muscle And Marrow, Hungers). The album was captured by the hands of accomplished Seattle-based engineer Brandon Fitzsimons (Bell Witch, Anhedonist) at Airport Grocery in Seattle and mastered by Justin Weis at Trakworx in San Francisco. The record was reissued digitally with two bonus studio tracks: "Blood In The Fire," and "Rome Burned."

Scotland's Ashenspire premiere lyric video at Heavy Blog is Heavy

Scottish avant-garde blackened metal band Ashenspire have teamed up with Heavy Blog is Heavy to reveal their lyric video for "Restless Giants". The video features images of Glasgow while the harrowing track plays in the background. The track is taken from their new album Speak Not of the Laudanum Quandary which will be released on January 20th.

The band commented: "Drawing particularly relevant parallels to scenes of today, Restless Giants is an observation focusing on the displaced, or refugees. Scottish history is no stranger to this concept (the Highland Clearances come to mind) but the uprooting and vilification of common peoples has long been a tool used by oppressors and imperialists the world over to justify subjugation and indifference. We leave the listener to draw their own conclusions on the associated images."

British blackened avant-garde band Ashenspire have teamed up with Transcending Obscurity to debut the epic title track of their new album ‘Speak Not Of The Laudanum Quandary’.

The band commented "Speak Not... is a summation of what the album is about, but crucially looks at the arrogance and moral vacuity of the British empire in pursuit of expansion and economic domination. Particularly highlighted, and referenced in the title, are the first and second Opium wars that were waged against China. We hope it brings you both ecstasy and reflection."

Italy-Based Avant Extreme Metallers Syk stream I-Optikon exclusively via Revolver; album out now via Housecore

Picture

Italy-based avant extreme metal merchants Syk will unleash their maniacal I-Optikon full-length via Housecore Records tomorrow, December 2nd, 2016. Produced by Philip H. Anselmo (Down, Pantera, Scour, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Arson Anthem etc.) and Stephen Berrigan (Down, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Eyehategod, Haarp, Classhole, etc.), I-Optikon features the debut appearances of recently recruited second guitarist Gianluca Ferro who's collaborated with Andy Timmons, Kiko Loureiro, Guthrie Govan, Jeff Loomis, and more. Worshippers of artists like Meshuggah, Crisis, Diamanda Galas, Starkweather, and general sonic annihilation, listen up.

In advance of its release, today Revolver Magazine is offering an exclusive stream of the record before you can buy it at THIS LOCATION.

For I-Optikon preorder options, point your browser HERE. For digital orders, go HERE.

Led by the nihilistic vocal assault of Dalila Kayros, Syk scorches ears and torches the soul with their grim, complex, chest-rupturingly weighty brand of noise-laden, apocalyptic-sounding savagery. Forged by Stefano Ferrian and Federico De Bernardi Di Valserra, both former members of the well-known long-running avant-grind monstrosity Psychofagist, the band released their debut Atoma via Czech imprint L'Inphantile Collective in 2014. Following performances supporting the likes of Godflesh and Gigan, the band piqued the interest of Housecore Records.

Metal Trenches accurately calls I-Optikon, "an artsy, unconventional fusion of Meshuggah guitar and drum work with off-kilter clean vocals from one Dalila Kayros. She bares a similar nihilistic approach to melody as Björk Guðmundsdóttir. Hers is a bit more aggressive, but I can't think of a single more appropriate comparison. Compositions are quite technical, and the results are unlike anything else I have heard," while Echo Eyes hails, "female vocals that carry a yell like Exene Cervenka, if done with the same power as Henry Rollins."

The song itself is set in prehistoric times, we cannot fully comprehend and at least for me it breathes a feeling of timelessness, like existing through aeons."

German avant-garde metal act Fjoergyn sign to Lifeforce Records‏

20/4/2016

Picture

Lifeforce Records are proud to announce the signing of German uncompromising avant-garde metal act Fjoergyn.

Their new album is set to be released in Autumn 2016.

Originally intended to be a purely orchestral solo work, Fjoergyn was founded in 2003 by musical visionary Stephan L. His approach until today (with now having a full band line-up): to combine opulent orchestral, and classical sounds with heavy guitars, and a metal aesthetic. Following this path, Stephan L. achieves oppressive, yet tremendous compositions. Due to its challenging basis, and the unconventional direction of action, the result of his creative work has to be described as epic and forward thinking.

Through the time of its existence,
Fjoergyn evolved to an insider tip for listeners of epic metal looking for a different approach to varicoloured, neoclassical heavy music. Under constant accusations, the band declared the human kind to parasite and tells stories of a self-fulfilling prophecy about the end of all days and the final reckoning between nature and mankind.

So far,
Fjoergyn released four albums of thoughtful gloomy music with careful arrangements and exceptional moods. The Thuringians toured across Europe supporting progressive colleagues such as The Vision Bleak, and Alcest. 2016 will see the release of bands fifth full length as well as a first vinyl MLP.

Visit and "like" the band's Facebook page and stay tuned about latest news and live shows.
