Costa Rican Death Metallers Corpse Garden announce new album IAO 269

Latin American death metal act, Corpse Garden, will be releasing their third album IAO 269 in November 2017 via Godz ov War Productions on CD, vinyl, cassette and digitally. A new track "Selenomantic Ecstasies" is streaming via the SoundCloud player below.

Stream new track "Selenomantic Ecstasies" now: https://soundcloud.com/godzovwar/corpse-garden-selenomantic-ecstasies

IAO 269 follows up conceptually on the previous album, Entheogen (2015), and takes the band into a brand new and bolder, experimental – and even trance-like - direction.

Guitarist Federico Gutiérrez comments on what influenced this direction: "Music is always a response from whatever we are feeling at the moment of its creation. It is an extension of our feelings and emotions". The album was heavily influenced by the music the band members were listening to during the creation process of the album: krautrock, 70s and 80s post-punk and ambient music among others.

The concept of IAO 269 continues from Entheogen. Federico comments: "when we were crafting the music, it became more obvious that the concept of the album would be a continuation of the concept on Entheogen: It's the harness of knowledge through the occult and realising its power and the abilities it descends upon one's hands".

IAO 269 was produced by Colin Marston and Corpse Garden. Recorded, mixed and mastered in January 2017 by Colin Marston at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves Studio, Queens, New York.

Satyricon unveils track-list for new album 'Deep calleth upon Deep'; now available for pre-order

Nearly three years in the making, black metal legends Satyricon have revealed their highly anticipated ninth studio album, 'Deep calleth upon Deep' is set for release on 22nd September via Napalm Records. The opus will be available in digital format, CD digipak and gatefold vinyl options and is now available for pre-order HERE!

The band recently unveiled initial album details and the album’s artwork, an obscure drawing from 1898 by perhaps the greatest Norwegian artist of all time, Edvard Munch.

Recorded in Oslo, Norway and Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together with revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on Satyricon’s 2006 album, ‘Now, Diabolical’), ‘Deep calleth upon Deep’ is not just a new collection of songs from one of extreme music’s most enduring and reliable bands: this is a wholesale reinvention and a brand new era in Satyricon history.

Says frontman and visionary Satyr: “Approaching this release, what I always kept in mind is that either this is the beginning of something new or it’s gonna be my last record. If this is going to be the last, then it needs to be something special. If there are more records, then I’d better make sure that this is so different from the last one that it feels like a new beginning. I think it’s really, really dark, very spiritual and filled with confidence and energy.”

'Deep calleth upon Deep' is a profound statement about the essence of Satyricon’s music and the eternal value of art itself. Satyr continues, “The way that I see it is that for any art, be it Satyricon or any other form of art with substance, in order for you to be able to inhale and completely understand it, it will take a little bit of you as well. If you get it all after a couple of listens, you know that it probably won’t stay with you. So the title is saying, ‘From the depth of the people making this record to the depth of the listener…’ If you want to take part in this journey, you should be prepared to dig deep down in the darkest corner of your soul with us."

Satyricon have always excelled as a live band, their evocative performances increasingly becoming special events as their frequency is dialled back to accommodate the Oslo band’s new ‘modus operandi’. In support of 'Deep calleth upon Deep' the band is set to tour on the following dates:

Norwegian extreme metal titans Ancient have announced their Latin American tour dates and cities, kicking off on September 7th in Mexico. Check out the tour dates below.

Ancient Frontman Zel stated:

"We are very excited and proud to announce the Ancient tour in Latin America in September. This has in many ways been a dream come true for us, to finally tour this corner of the world. The tour that took place in 2007 was not with a full band line-up and I was not even there myself, but this time we will bring the most powerful and energetic line up Ancient has ever had, with Mr. Nick Barker himself on the drums!!

A lot of fans from countries like Honduras, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Venezuela and especially Brazil, have been writing to us asking why we will not visit these places during the tour. The thing is, that it does not depend on the band, we would play in every single country if we had the chance. These decisions are always made by the booking agency and the local promoters in each country. Sometimes the expenses (especially with travelling) are simply too high to make it happen, but we will do our best to return again with an even bigger tour next time !!! Let's keep the Ancient spirit alive !!"

Costa Rica's Sight of Emptiness announce 21st January as the release date for 'Instincts'

6/1/2014

Picture

Costa Rica's finest musical export is ready to take on the world! Sight of Emptiness have been hard at work towards making an impact on the global metal scene since the release of "Trust Is A Disease" in 2007 - the same year the band won the Bloodstock Unsigned Contest and played the main stage at Bloodstock Open Air.

Since then, Sight of Emptiness have been hard at work. Releasing another album independently in 2009 and supporting heavy weights such as Megadeth, At The Gates, Obituary and more -- even playing national concerts for the Costa Rican government to over 15,000 people and being invited back to play Bloodstock Open Air in 2012, without entering a contest.

The band's hard work culminates now, as they prepare to unleash their third full length album "Instincts" on January 21st!

"Instincts" is a heavy-hitting dose of Melodic Death Metal that will hit home with fans of Amon Amarth, At The Gates, In Flames and the like. It is also a very targeted effort to reach the worldwide metal masses. Produced by Thomas "Plec" Johansson (Watain, Scar Symmetry, etc), "Instincts" features a who's who of incredible musicians guesting on the album. Tracks featuring Glen Drover (Megadeth, King Diamond), Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Iced Earth), Christian Alvestam (Scar Symmetry) and Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe) make the album standout on looks alone, but the songs themselves will have fans coming back for more!

Not only have Sight of Emptiness caught the attention of their peers, but also the Costa Rican government as "Instincts" also features a guest appearance of Manuel Obregon, the Minister of Culture & Youth for Costa Rica's government.

To get your first tastes of "Instincts", check out the first video from the album for the track "Essence (featuring Whitfield Crane of Ugly Kid Joe)" here.

Their second album 'Absolution Of Humanity' to outstanding ovation, they caught the attention of promoters in Spain and Portugal, they opened shows in Costa Rica to the likes of Megadeth, Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquillity and Obituary. However it does not end there, Sight of Emptiness were chosen to perform at The Costa Rican Art Museum on behalf of the Central America's Cultural Affairs, furthermore they managed to play at Bloodstock, on the Ronnie James Dio stage in 2007 and the Sophie Lancaster Stage in 2012. 2011 saw them yet again being nominated at the ACAM awards, but this time in the category of: “Artist of the Year”.

2013 and the Costa Rican sextet have unveiled their latest music video "Essence" which comes off of their upcoming third album "Instincts"; UK readers of Terrorizer can get this with issue 240 OCT 2013.

This is another step in international recognition for the band and their beloved metal scene.
