Copenhagen's rising death doom outfit, Konvent, is set to release their highly anticipated debut album, Puritan Masochism, on January 24 via Napalm Records. Only a few days ahead of its official release, the band has just premiered another brutal-sounding appetizer with a brand new video! The Danish collective, founded in 2015, stoically trudges through the blackest mires – following in the footsteps of Mythic, Paradise Lost, Skepticism and Winter, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s. Rikke Emilie List`s guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make the debut by these four Danish women a massive, extreme metal highlight of early 2020 – and it would not come as a surprise if their upcoming album, Puritan Masochism, conjures up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre! Following the premiere of the band's latest music video to the album title track (watch HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdR24AURUwU), today we witness a final single before the album drops later this month. Better get doomed and fix your eyes on Konvent's brand new video for the blistering track 'Ropes pt. II' : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBkwHWoKQKA The band comments:- “Ropes pt. II was the last song we wrote for the album. Our deadline was getting closer and we isolated ourselves in our rehearsal space during the weekend before going into the studio. We spent hours jamming to the main riff while the Danish Summer sun was baking outside, and in the end we managed to complete the song. It was actually inspired by our other song Ropes pt. I which, at that time, didn't have a title. Ropes pt. I is about knowing someone who is going through a bad time and the powerlessness that comes with it. We thought it could be interesting to write a song from the other person‘s point of view and connect the songs and their protagonists. We chose to incorporate ropes in the titles because in these situations they can be a mean of help to climb out of the darkness or a means of suicide; we leave it up to the listener‘s imagination. Regarding the video, we were all quite tired of the same old “metal music video recipe”. Actually, we didn't really care for being in the video ourselves but found it way more interesting to play with smoke, lights and shadows. We got in touch with photographer Nicky de Silva via a common friend and he was very interested in diving into a darker side of the arts. We had a meeting with him and our visions clicked. He found the models for the video as well and we couldn't be happier with the result!“ For More Info Visit: www.facebook.com/konventband www.konvent666.bandcamp.com www.napalmrecords.com

And now the Danish band is ready to release their new album “Demonology"! “We've always strived towards a high level of technicality and musicianship in the music we write, and "Demonology" represents to us a big step into a heavier and more extreme direction, while maintaining our brand of catchy melodic death metal. We can't wait to share more info with you all in the coming months!" - Chronicle The new album was produced, mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, The Haunted) at Antfarm Studios and will be released on March 27th 2020 on CD, vinyl and digital formats. This imaginary world is barren, dusty, and littered with broken pieces of things once considered essential to humankind such as bits of plastic, a teddy bear, crumbling structures, cell phones and computers, bleached bones, and long-forgotten musical instruments. The setting is devoid of mankind, but brimming with the hope of new life; and then one day, thunder, lightning, and one drop at a time, it begins to rain, and Mother Nature steps in. Check out the ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video HERE. Apocalyptica’s Eicca Toppinen comments:- “‘En Route To Mayhem’ is a journey of hedonic needs growing into greed and aggression, driving into inner mayhem and ending without satisfaction. This video underlines the fact that however we think we are in control by destroying things and life around us, life itself will take over in the end, always. We are not in control of the bigger picture, and we should be aware of it and raise our respect to life around us.” The ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video is in support of Apocalyptica’s upcoming album, Cell-0, due out January 10th, 2020 via Silver Lining Music. Produced by Apocalyptica – cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki. The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. Cell-0 is the quartet's first instrumental album in 17 years and found the musicians challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments. For Cell-0 pre-order options, go to this location. Perttu Kivilaakso comments:- “Cell-0 has a concept which is to challenge the listeners to question themselves and ask “Am I doing the best I can for the environment, for other beings? Is there still something I can change?” To highlight environmental issues, the band wanted to ask fans to do something for our planet; so to coincide with the release of the new video, they have launched a very special competition, which will give fans the chance to win the opportunity for Apocalyptica to play in their living room. To enter, fans will need to show the band how they are making the planet a healthier place for everyone. Fans can head to their Facebook page and comment with photos/videos showing what they are doing to help the planet and telling the band why they should be picked as a winner. To find out more information, head to the band’s Facebook page. The online contest is open to all European fans from now and will close at 7:00 pm CET Friday, January 10th, 2020. Full terms and conditions can be found here. In concert, Apocalyptica are known for their moving live performances and will kick off the New Year as Special Guests on Sabaton's 15-country, 23-date European arena tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland. With a set list that will likely vary night to night, Apocalyptica's performances will be comprised of new songs from Cell-0 as well as from the band's rich catalogue. The excitement level of Blood Eagle finally finding the right home to release new material, is higher for us than we can ever express. There are people who want to hear this band, as was evident in the reaction to our performances on multiple European festivals in the last couple of years. We are excited and grateful to be working with the guys at Nuclear Blast, as they strongly will help facilitate and take the Eagle to the next level. On a musical note, we took all our inspirations from NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, MORBID ANGEL and a tad (like 2%) of MASTODON and threw them into the musical cooking pot. The result is our new release, 'To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed' which was released as three EP's in September, October and November. Out on Nuclear Blast Records."
More on 'To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed':
Blood Eagle is a death metal band comprised of former members of VOLBEAT, MNEMIC, HATESPHERE, ILLDISPOSED and RAUNCHY, founded by two ex-guitarists, Franz Hellboss and Mircea Gabriel Eftemie (formerly of VOLBEAT and MNEMIC). After playing for years in their own respective bands, the two guitarists decided to team up and consolidate their passion for punk, grind and death metal alongside their best friends and touring partners. The band surfaced and raised traction for the very first time in 2013, by releasing a 3-song EP for free download, recorded at the Antfarm Studios with Tue Madsen (MESHUGGAH, BEHEMOTH, THE HAUNTED) at the helm. Playing select shows and festival appearances, the band kept writing material but never released it to the masses, until five years later. So what do you get when you throw NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, MORBID ANGEL and a dash of MASTODON into a musical cooking pot? The answer is; BLOOD EAGLE. Glorified by the metal media as a Danish "supergroup" consisting of metal veterans, according to the band there is nothing super about it, other than their good friendship and love for old school death metal. BLOOD EAGLE is an unstoppable force, launching their long-awaited debut album in three parts: 'To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed' I, II, III via NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS. Formed in 2015, the Copenhagen collective stoically trudges through the blackest mires – guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make Puritan Masochism an irresistible highlight of early 2020! Today, Konvent unleashes a brand new single for the doomy-as-hell track Trust. Listen and watch the band's new lyric video HERE! Guitarist Sara says:- “Our second single, Trust, is written based on the opening riff, with sudden breaks to create a contrast between the heavy bass and the guitar. The lyrics are about how some groups can manipulate fragile people into opening up and sharing deep secrets, giving the group an immense power over them.“ Following their 2017 demo and highly acclaimed appearances at festivals such as Aalborg Metal Festival, Metal Magic Festival and Copenhell Freezes Over in 2018, Konvent not only inked a worldwide deal with powerhouse label Napalm Records, but their mesmerizing mix of death and doom also led them to the big Danish stages, allowing them to perform at Copenhell and Roskilde Festival. While rapidly stepping out as one of Europe's best kept death and doom metal secrets, January 2020 will finally see Konvent release their first full-length, Puritan Masochism, which was recorded live in Lasse Ballade’s studio in Copenhagen over a period of two weeks. The band recently stated that:- “During the process of the songwriting, we were inspired musically by both death, black and doom metal, as we aimed to give this album a broader sound than our demo back in 2017. The lyrics are inspired by the fight of regaining control when surrounded by chaos of different forms, which everyone may be affected by at some point in your life.” A video to the album title track was also recently released. In anticipation of the tour and to give fans a taster of what they can expect at the shows, Amaranthe have launched a drum cam video, in which Morten Løwe Sørensen can be seen performing the track 'Call Out My Name' during their show at the Ice Hall in Helsinki on February 16, 2019. Within their arsenal of hit singles - with 'Drop Dead Cynical' leading right at the front - a myriad tracks have been received very well via press and fans alike; having also gained countless plays on both radio stations around the globe and across streaming services (the group's songs have been streamed more than 100 million times on Spotify). A string of support tours have blazed Amaranthe's trail in front of huge crowds as well as at their own headline concerts (the group impressively once performed in front of 10,000 fans at Liseberg, Gothenburg). They have kept working incredibly hard over the years, the latest product of which culminated in the form of »Helix,« which achieved them some of their highest chart positions in the band's history (Switzerland #21, Germany #29 etc.). Watch it right HERE! “Puritan Masochism was the first song written for our debut album.” The band explains. “It’s about how humans have the tendency of working against ourselves, negatively comparing ourselves to others and setting unattainable goals, sometimes without even realizing it.” Konvent continue: “Our debut album, Puritan Masochism, is the result of two years of hard work. During the process of the songwriting, we were inspired musically by both death, black and doom metal, as we aimed to give this album a broader sound than our demo back in 2017. The powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli. The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years, finding Apocalyptica challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments. “It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us,” they explained. “Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.” Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on ‘Ashes Of The Modern World,’ while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during ‘En Route To Mayhem.’ Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while travelling through that creative process. “These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about,” Toppinen expresses. “But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.” In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour, including an appearance at Wembley Arena on February 8th 2020. Danish black metal band Orm recently announced the release of their long awaited second album, Ir ("verdigris"), which will see the light of day on August 30th through Indisciplinarian. Now, the band releases the first album audio excerpt. As the album is comprised of two massive compositions, the new preview showcases five minutes of music from the record's A-side in a filmed live fashion. Preorders for the album's physical formats are now also available. Orm's second album Ir is an ambitious progressive black metal work consisting of the two compositions "Klippens Lyse Hal" ("The Bright Hall Of The Cliff") and "Bær Solen Ud" ('Carry Out The Sun"), which clock in at twenty-three and twenty-four minutes respectively. The band's guitarist and singer Simon Sonne Andersen produced the album, and the band collectively designed the record's visual side themselves. Recently, Orm released the first sounds from Ir in an album trailer, but now the band unleashes the first genuine excerpt from the album in the shape of five minutes from the record's side A, "Klippens Lyse Hal." The excerpt is not sound directly from the album though but instead it comes from a recent live session in the Copenhagen based studio Black Tornado, produced by the band itself and filmed by film-makers Bjørn Patterson and Anders Dahl. Listen and watch as Orm performs an excerpt from Ir's "Klippens Lyse Hal" HERE. Orm (Danish for "serpent") assumed form in 2015, and in 2017, the band released its first and eponymous album which arose with its mythical tales of man and nature accompanied by a grandiose, melodic yet raw and direct black metal. The next chapter of Orm's history is Ir, where the contrasts are bigger, the complex is more complex, the simple simpler, and the melodies are poignant and contagious. The form is elongated, dynamic, and adventurous, and the musical ambition and performance bears witness to an ensemble void of compromise and led solely by its own flame, wherever it may lead. The album's narration revolves around the impermanence of all things and is a personal reflection on how this aspect is contained within the human drama, religion, and nature. Ir will be released on vinyl, cassette, and digital formats on August 30th 2019 through Indisciplinarian. The vinyl version is pressed in runs of 400 copies on black vinyl and 100 on white, both with a beautiful gatefold with a booklet, and the cassette version comes in 150 white copies in a slipcase. Both physical versions of the album are now available for pre-ordering via Indisciplinarian webshop HERE. In connection with the album release, Orm will play a string of Danish shows, among those a release show at Alice in Copenhagen the day before the release. The band has also added two November shows in Aarhus and Odense, and they are among the headliners at the Raise Your Horns Festival on their native island of Bornholm in September. Mainland European shows are currently being booked for early 2020.
