Metal Blade Records is proud to welcome Denmark's Demon Head to its worldwide roster!
Though hesitant to compromise the description of the music they perform through generalizing terms of genre, Demon Head has coined the term "diabolic rock" as an appropriate presentation. The quintet's full-length debut, Ride The Wilderness (2015), is a youthful and hungry adventure exploring the boundless courage of classic rock music; Thunder on the Fields (2017) turned their inspirations further towards the strange and sinister purposes of life, a tendency followed and completed on Hellfire Ocean Void (2019), with its gothic, and nothing but otherworldly, song-writing and production. Fans can expect Demon Head's fourth album - due out early 2021 via Metal Blade Records - to continue down this sonic path. The band comments: "The rudiments are unfolding. Unforgotten promises of friendship and dedication are bearing sweet, sweet fruit. We're nothing but excited and full of hope to have shaken hands with an as influential and willing partner as Metal Blade Records. No one knows what this will bring. x o x o x o x o Demon Head" Stay tuned for more news about Demon Head coming soon! On April 17th Danish Viking Metallers Vanir release "10 Years Of Mead And Metal", celebrating a decade of raw Danish Viking power! Ten years ago in Roskilde Denmark a group of metalheads came together to play some Viking folk metal. It later evolved into Vanir. A lot has happened since then. Both when it comes the band and the band's visual and musical soundscape. While in the process of working on their 6th album, they thought it was important to mark their 10th year of raiding with Vanir! And to mark this occasion, they have re-recorded three songs from their debut album, "Særimners kød". The goal of the EP is to capture the essence of Vanir's roots and mix them with the sound of what they aim at today as a band. With the heavier sounding Viking metal that Vanir represents today, but with respect for the folk metal roots they came from. To top it all Vanir have recorded a cover from the Danish minstrel Kim Larsen with the lyrics from the poem of Nordahl Grieg - "Kringsatt av fiender". This poem means a lot too many people and stands for unity in a world that tends to get more and more fragmented. The critically acclaimed latest album by Vanir, "Allfather", was released last year. Martin Holmsgaard - vocals Phillip Kaaber - rhythm guitars Kirk Backarach - lead guitars Lars Bundvad - bass Daniel ‘Luske’ Kronskov - drums Stefan Dujardin - keys https://www.facebook.com/vanirdenmark/ Sweden’s hottest metal export is just rounding up their European arena tour with Sabaton and are ready to present a very special Valentine’s Day gift: Amaranthe spice up the day with a brand new song featuring former vocalist of Arch Enemy, Angela Gossow. 'Do Or Die' displays Amaranthe’s heavier side and is accompanied by a dystopian horror video filmed in Spain, featuring Fardou Keuning's stunning creations. Brave enough? Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/iZweNFWbegI Angela Gossow comments:- "It was thrilling to join Amaranthe for a more extreme track and shooting a cutting edge video for it! This is no cosy studio performance, but real ice cold winds, sewage, cadavers and pouring rain - the reality we live in, the devastating legacy we leave to our future generations. Time to wake up, turn - and bang - some heads! Watch out for these guys and killer lady, they are going to crush you this year with a new album and some heavy touring!!!" Guitarist Olof Mörck states:- "While Amaranthe's music is often uplifting, energetic and positive, sooner or later everyone needs to deal with the obvious fact that the world is literally crumbling around us - and it is crumbling fast, thanks to the short sighted abuse of our common Mother Earth! We talked to legendary Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy fame to do an entire package of a video and a song, outside of any normal album cycle, and let our different perspectives on metal collide in a massive explosion; and it resulted in Do or Die! Together with Overbeck Media who shot the video, we delivered something really quite special, and Angela brings in a fresh strength to the trademark Amaranthe sound that is sure to resound all across the metal world! Death and Fire!" Within their arsenal of hit singles - with 'Drop Dead Cynical' leading right at the front - a myriad tracks have been received very well via press and fans alike; having also gained countless plays on both radio stations around the globe and across streaming services (the group's songs have been streamed more than 100 million times on Spotify). A string of support tours have blazed Amaranthe's trail in front of huge crowds as well as at their own headline concerts (the group impressively once performed in front of 10,000 fans at Liseberg, Gothenburg). They have kept working incredibly hard over the years, the latest product of which culminated in the form of Helix, which achieved them some of their highest chart positions in the band's history (Switzerland #21, Germany #29 etc.). "Suspension of Disbelief” will be out on 06 03 2020 via Wormholedeath/The Orchard worldwide. Band statement: "With the signing to WormHoleDeath, Eciton see it as a great opportunity and possibility to get people around the world to hear our music and be better known. Eciton believe that the partners that WormHoleDeath have in Japan and US is great way to get outside the borders of Europe and send Eciton in a new direction. Hopefully it can help us to play more shows around Europe and the rest of the world. "Suspension of Disbelief” consists of 10 old school, technically catchy death metal songs that everyone with metal in their ears should hear.. Hopefully Ecitons second release on WormHoleDeath will take place in 2021. From summer 2020 Eciton will be playing shows with the album “Suspension of disbelief”... Cheers..!" The Danish death metal band Eciton was formed in 2000 by musicians who over the past 12 years had been involved in numerous death metal bands and projects, with the clear intention to play brutal and uncompromising death metal. Eciton's debut album title "Oppressed" was released by French label Adipocere Records. After a series of line-up changes, partly because of bassist Soren Maiboes untimely death, Eciton started to write new material which sent them into EarPlug studio. The Recordings were abruptly interrupted when the band once again was stroked by bad luck since drummer Eskil Frantzen tragically died. Shortly after Jesper Frost (Iniquity) joined Eciton and the final recordings to the band's second album “A scent of veracity” took place and ended in the hands of Jacob Olsen at JBO studio who did an awesome job mixing and mastering it. Later that year “A scent of veracity” was released. After a couple of years with live shows, Eciton went back to write material for their 3. Album and at the same time looking for an extra guitarist and a new guy to hit the 4 strings.. 10 sick jaw breaking songs began to show their face and moulded into a Eciton form and were recorded at Earplug studio with Thomas Pedersen. Once again it went to JBO studio for mixing and mastering and the album “Suspension of Disbelief” were born and again Eciton startet crawling out of the mount to terrify and conquer the world.. Copenhagen's rising death doom outfit, Konvent, is set to release their highly anticipated debut album, Puritan Masochism, on January 24 via Napalm Records. Only a few days ahead of its official release, the band has just premiered another brutal-sounding appetizer with a brand new video! The Danish collective, founded in 2015, stoically trudges through the blackest mires – following in the footsteps of Mythic, Paradise Lost, Skepticism and Winter, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s. Rikke Emilie List`s guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make the debut by these four Danish women a massive, extreme metal highlight of early 2020 – and it would not come as a surprise if their upcoming album, Puritan Masochism, conjures up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre! Following the premiere of the band's latest music video to the album title track (watch HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdR24AURUwU), today we witness a final single before the album drops later this month. Better get doomed and fix your eyes on Konvent's brand new video for the blistering track 'Ropes pt. II' : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBkwHWoKQKA The band comments:- “Ropes pt. II was the last song we wrote for the album. Our deadline was getting closer and we isolated ourselves in our rehearsal space during the weekend before going into the studio. We spent hours jamming to the main riff while the Danish Summer sun was baking outside, and in the end we managed to complete the song. It was actually inspired by our other song Ropes pt. I which, at that time, didn't have a title. Ropes pt. I is about knowing someone who is going through a bad time and the powerlessness that comes with it. We thought it could be interesting to write a song from the other person‘s point of view and connect the songs and their protagonists. We chose to incorporate ropes in the titles because in these situations they can be a mean of help to climb out of the darkness or a means of suicide; we leave it up to the listener‘s imagination. Regarding the video, we were all quite tired of the same old “metal music video recipe”. Actually, we didn't really care for being in the video ourselves but found it way more interesting to play with smoke, lights and shadows. We got in touch with photographer Nicky de Silva via a common friend and he was very interested in diving into a darker side of the arts. We had a meeting with him and our visions clicked. He found the models for the video as well and we couldn't be happier with the result!“ For More Info Visit: www.facebook.com/konventband www.konvent666.bandcamp.com www.napalmrecords.com After one month of voting, nearly 6,000 votes cast and countless sharing across all social media platforms by us and nominees alike, the time has come to announce the winners of the GMA Awards 2019. Danish Extreme Metallers Chronicle release new album "Demonology" in March; pre-orders available21/12/2019 Hailing from the northern part of Denmark, Chronicle is the bastard child of old-school thrash metal, melodic death metal & black metal, with a sprinkling of Finnish melody thrown in for good measure. And now the Danish band is ready to release their new album “Demonology"! “We've always strived towards a high level of technicality and musicianship in the music we write, and "Demonology" represents to us a big step into a heavier and more extreme direction, while maintaining our brand of catchy melodic death metal. We can't wait to share more info with you all in the coming months!" - Chronicle The new album was produced, mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, The Haunted) at Antfarm Studios and will be released on March 27th 2020 on CD, vinyl and digital formats. This imaginary world is barren, dusty, and littered with broken pieces of things once considered essential to humankind such as bits of plastic, a teddy bear, crumbling structures, cell phones and computers, bleached bones, and long-forgotten musical instruments. The setting is devoid of mankind, but brimming with the hope of new life; and then one day, thunder, lightning, and one drop at a time, it begins to rain, and Mother Nature steps in. Check out the ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video HERE. Apocalyptica’s Eicca Toppinen comments:- “‘En Route To Mayhem’ is a journey of hedonic needs growing into greed and aggression, driving into inner mayhem and ending without satisfaction. This video underlines the fact that however we think we are in control by destroying things and life around us, life itself will take over in the end, always. We are not in control of the bigger picture, and we should be aware of it and raise our respect to life around us.” The ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video is in support of Apocalyptica’s upcoming album, Cell-0, due out January 10th, 2020 via Silver Lining Music. Produced by Apocalyptica – cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki. The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. Cell-0 is the quartet's first instrumental album in 17 years and found the musicians challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments. For Cell-0 pre-order options, go to this location. Perttu Kivilaakso comments:- “Cell-0 has a concept which is to challenge the listeners to question themselves and ask “Am I doing the best I can for the environment, for other beings? Is there still something I can change?” To highlight environmental issues, the band wanted to ask fans to do something for our planet; so to coincide with the release of the new video, they have launched a very special competition, which will give fans the chance to win the opportunity for Apocalyptica to play in their living room. To enter, fans will need to show the band how they are making the planet a healthier place for everyone. Fans can head to their Facebook page and comment with photos/videos showing what they are doing to help the planet and telling the band why they should be picked as a winner. To find out more information, head to the band’s Facebook page. The online contest is open to all European fans from now and will close at 7:00 pm CET Friday, January 10th, 2020. Full terms and conditions can be found here. In concert, Apocalyptica are known for their moving live performances and will kick off the New Year as Special Guests on Sabaton's 15-country, 23-date European arena tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland. With a set list that will likely vary night to night, Apocalyptica's performances will be comprised of new songs from Cell-0 as well as from the band's rich catalogue. The excitement level of Blood Eagle finally finding the right home to release new material, is higher for us than we can ever express. There are people who want to hear this band, as was evident in the reaction to our performances on multiple European festivals in the last couple of years. We are excited and grateful to be working with the guys at Nuclear Blast, as they strongly will help facilitate and take the Eagle to the next level. On a musical note, we took all our inspirations from NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, MORBID ANGEL and a tad (like 2%) of MASTODON and threw them into the musical cooking pot. The result is our new release, 'To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed' which was released as three EP's in September, October and November. Out on Nuclear Blast Records."
More on 'To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed':
Blood Eagle is a death metal band comprised of former members of VOLBEAT, MNEMIC, HATESPHERE, ILLDISPOSED and RAUNCHY, founded by two ex-guitarists, Franz Hellboss and Mircea Gabriel Eftemie (formerly of VOLBEAT and MNEMIC). After playing for years in their own respective bands, the two guitarists decided to team up and consolidate their passion for punk, grind and death metal alongside their best friends and touring partners. The band surfaced and raised traction for the very first time in 2013, by releasing a 3-song EP for free download, recorded at the Antfarm Studios with Tue Madsen (MESHUGGAH, BEHEMOTH, THE HAUNTED) at the helm. Playing select shows and festival appearances, the band kept writing material but never released it to the masses, until five years later. So what do you get when you throw NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, MORBID ANGEL and a dash of MASTODON into a musical cooking pot? The answer is; BLOOD EAGLE. Glorified by the metal media as a Danish "supergroup" consisting of metal veterans, according to the band there is nothing super about it, other than their good friendship and love for old school death metal. BLOOD EAGLE is an unstoppable force, launching their long-awaited debut album in three parts: 'To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed' I, II, III via NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS. BLOOD EAGLE is: Michael Olsson | Vocals Mircea Gabriel Eftemie | Guitars Franz Hellboss | Guitars Mikael Ehlert | Bass Morten Toft Hansen | Drums www.facebook.com/bloodeagle.dk www.instagram.com/bloodeagle_dk www.nuclearblast.de/bloodeagle The four Danish women of Konvent may conjure up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre when they release their hotly anticipated album, Puritan Masochism, on January 24th 2020 via Napalm Records. Formed in 2015, the Copenhagen collective stoically trudges through the blackest mires – guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make Puritan Masochism an irresistible highlight of early 2020! Today, Konvent unleashes a brand new single for the doomy-as-hell track Trust. Listen and watch the band's new lyric video HERE! Guitarist Sara says:- “Our second single, Trust, is written based on the opening riff, with sudden breaks to create a contrast between the heavy bass and the guitar. The lyrics are about how some groups can manipulate fragile people into opening up and sharing deep secrets, giving the group an immense power over them.“ Following their 2017 demo and highly acclaimed appearances at festivals such as Aalborg Metal Festival, Metal Magic Festival and Copenhell Freezes Over in 2018, Konvent not only inked a worldwide deal with powerhouse label Napalm Records, but their mesmerizing mix of death and doom also led them to the big Danish stages, allowing them to perform at Copenhell and Roskilde Festival. While rapidly stepping out as one of Europe's best kept death and doom metal secrets, January 2020 will finally see Konvent release their first full-length, Puritan Masochism, which was recorded live in Lasse Ballade’s studio in Copenhagen over a period of two weeks. The band recently stated that:- “During the process of the songwriting, we were inspired musically by both death, black and doom metal, as we aimed to give this album a broader sound than our demo back in 2017. The lyrics are inspired by the fight of regaining control when surrounded by chaos of different forms, which everyone may be affected by at some point in your life.” A video to the album title track was also recently released. Watch it HERE! Coming January 24th as LP, CD and Digital formats via Napalm Records, the pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!
