French Roman extreme metal legionaries Deos sign with Wormholedeath & announce "Furor Belli" album

Picture

French extreme metal Legionaries Deos have signed with Wormholedeath a worldwide deal for their album "Furor Belli", which is due for release on May 27th, 2022.

Band Statement :

"Ave populus, we have some good news to share with you! We have signed with Wormholedeath records for our upcoming 3rd album "Furor Belli" which will be released this spring! Stay tuned for more information and stay Roman."

Speaking of the upcoming release, the band explain:

"Ave populus, Furor Belli is a more raw and more direct album than the 2 previous ones. This is mainly due to the new line-up. Indeed François (guitar) and Harsh (keyboards) left the band in 2020. Cedric joined the band as a guitarist and we decided not to have keyboards anymore. So the music became more raw, more brutal and more direct.

But it remains at the same time melodic. Cedric has fully contributed to the writing of the album since his arrival and his style has been perfectly integrated. His great rhythmic ability has elevated the martial nature of the music! This album is a good mix of Black, Death and Thrash in an old school style. The music and lyrics on this album reflect the trials and tribulations of the last 2 years due to the pandemic and the line-up change. Rage, frustration, anger but also hope and friendship have forged Furor Belli.

And for the 1st time we have 2 guests on 2 different songs which gives even more diversity to our music. As always with Deos, the themes are based on the history of Rome, but these same themes are still relevant today. They are the reflection of the life of the band and the current world context. The lyrics are more thoughtful and more personal even if they can seem more brutal, more cruel and more warlike than those of the 2 other albums. Now you just have to joins us and discover it ."

After some shows in Annecy, Chambéry, Saint-Etienne or Geneva, their first album, Ghosts of the Empire, was released in December 2015 and conquered the Rhône-Alpes public with a fast, heavy and melodic style.

In September 2016, with a new keyboardist, Deos starts the recording of its second album whose artwork is entrusted to Brice Cumin and mastering to J.-F. Dagenais at JFD Studio (Kataklysm, Ex Deo). The following year, the band signed to Buil2kill Records and the second album In Nomine Romae was released in October 2017. From 11 to 15 October of the same year the band performs with the Italians of ADE during the "Rising Across the Alps tour ", followed by the " Bellum In Helvetia tour " as well as for several dates in France and in Switzerland during the year 2018.

At the beginning of 2019, Deos plays with Scuorn and Kyterion during the "Parthenope European tour". The band also participates in the first album of the Greek-Roman singer Ellenika by writing the track The Goddess and the Warrior. At the end of the year, they record an acoustic EP offering a selection of their first two albums. During the year 2020 Harsh (keyboards) and François (guitar) left the band. Cedric "Cedd" Boehm was hired as the 2nd guitarist. The year 2021 is dedicated to the composition and recording of the 3rd album Furor Belli. The mastering is once again entrusted to J-F Dagenais at JFD Studio, and the artwork to Brice Cumin.      Indian metal veterans Demonic Resurrection have returned with a new single ‘The Eye Of Eternity’. The track sees the band bring on Benighted drummer Kevin Paradis, keyboardist  Misstiq from Australia, and vocalist Pratika to feature on the track. The band also uses this opportunity to announce Aditya Swaminathan (Kill The King) as their new lead guitarist who also plays on the song.

The track has been inspired by the artwork of Aaron Pinto aka Kidsquidy who created the artwork for the band’s 20th-anniversary merchandise line. Watch the official lyric video:  https://youtu.be/duOdK8-uUJM

Picture

Frontman Demonstealer shares his thoughts:-

‘It’s been a tough couple of years for the band and I just felt I wanted to do something but an album would take time. That’s why I decided to take inspiration for songs from all the artworks we had created for our 20th Anniversary merchandise. We got together 4 of our fav designers who have previously worked with us on merch or album covers, Gaurav Basu aka Acid Toad, Michal ‘Xaay’ Loranc, Visual Amnesia, and Aaaron Pinto aka Kidsquidy.

The first track I decided to work on was based on this artwork. The track is just honestly a journey with various moods and tempos. Working with Kevin, Misstiq, and Pratika has been an absolute dream and Aditya just topped everything off perfectly with his solos.’

The track has been mixed and mastered by ex-Demonic Resurrection guitarist Daniel Kenneth Rego and the lyric video was created by Abshishek Goswami from Sonicspawn Studios. Fans who have purchased the 20th-anniversary merchandise are getting a free download of the song from the band as well.

Demonic outfit Cradle Of Filth is proud to release an extraordinary new video, accompanying their magnificently mournful track "How Many Tears To Nurture A Rose?". The video premiered as part of Cradle Of Filth's Infernal Vernal Equinox Deadstream, and now fans all across the globe can also bask in its sublime black magick.

Directed by Vicente Cordero, the stunning video winds a haunting tale - sinister, alluring, and deadly. But he that dares not grasp the thorn, should never crave the rose...

Infamous front-man Dani Filth stated:

"This is yet another great video by director Vicente Cordero, encapsulating the occult essence of the song’s lyricism with great sweeping colourful strokes of total batshit-craziness. It really makes for frightening, yet strangely compelling viewing!"

The gates of hell opened once again in 2021, revealing Cradle Of Filth's 13th manifesto  "Existence Is Futile". Pieced together in isolation at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk with studio guru  Scott Atkins, the record is a pitch-black, perverse and at times absurdly brutal masterpiece, based around the concept of existentialism.

Diehard fans were thrilled to learn that horror icon Doug 'Pinhead' Bradley made a welcome return, lending his dulcet tones to the band's most politically astute song to date, the epic "Suffer Our Dominion" as well as the album bonus track "Sisters Of The Mist", which is the conclusion to the "Her Ghost In The Fog" trilogy, started over 20 years ago on the infamous and classic Midian.

Cradle Of Filth release new single + music video for “Necromantic Fantasies”

18/9/2021

Picture

After shaking the world in its foundation with the announcement of their 13th manifesto,  "Existence Is Futile", that will see the light of the day on October 22nd, Cradle Of Filth gather again to bring their next sacrifice to the devilish forces of Dark Metal: Today, the band reveals the second single of their new album to come – “Necromantic Fantasies.”

     Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/PiV5XupV-TI

Directed by Vicente Cordero, this video was shot back-to-back with his previous work for the band, the horribly apocalyptic “Crawling King Chaos,” though both are remarkably contrasting. Dani Filth had this to say of the latest video to enter the CRADLE catalogue:

“This is a very different video from its predecessor, sporting more of a narrative amid leaning back toward a dark Victorian gothic vibe, showcasing the second of many unique tracks on this, our 13th album. It’s very cinematic, much like ‘Crawling King Chaos,’ but walking a much more 'dark faerytale' path. The director Vicente has done such an amazing job bringing the storyline together with the band and the incredible sets. It looks gorgeous. And the song is pretty good too!”

Pieced together in isolation, at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk with studio guru Scott Atkins (Devilment / Benediction / Vader), the band's latest chef-d'oeuvre is a pitch-black, perverse and at times absurdly brutal and extreme masterpiece following a truly nihilistic concept:

Dani Filth explains:

“The album is about existentialism, existential dread and fear of the unknown. The concept wasn’t created by the pandemic. We’d written it long before that began and it is really but the tip of the mountain as far as the way the world is headed, you know? I guess the title, ‘Existence Is Futile,’ does sound a little morbid. But again, it’s more about recognising that truth and saying that everything is permitted because nothing really matters, which mimics the occultist Aleister Crowley’s maxim. We all know we’re going to die, so we might as well indulge life while we possess it. The final track on the album – 'Us, Dark, Invincible' – really drives that point home. Also, the artwork for this record was created by the Latvian visionary Arthur Berzinsh, who also dressed the last two albums, and that reeks of the exceedingly beautiful yet apocalyptic too.”

Diehard fans will be thrilled to learn that horror icon Doug 'Pinhead' Bradley makes a welcome return to the CRADLE fold, lending his dulcet tones to the band's most politically astute song to date, the epic “Suffer Our Dominion” as well as the album bonus track “Sisters Of The Mist,” which is the conclusion to the “Her Ghost In The Fog” trilogy that started over 20 years ago on the infamous and classic Midian.

Finnish extreme metallers Progeny of Sun release 'Dark Wanderer' EP along with music video 'Eclipse'

Finnish extreme metal band Progeny Of Sun released their new EP Dark Wanderer via Inverse Records. To celebrate the release the band also released a music video for Eclipse track.

     Watch Eclipse music video: https://youtu.be/nAafZPI-Ji0

The band comments:

"We think this is a huge improvement from the first EP. The sounds and texts have gotten increasingly dark and gained a pressuring twist. All in all, the material feels more unified this time around even though we have more people behind it. Vocals are bit more straightforward compared to the first EP, still with a lot of variance, but with more taste.

This EP summarizes well the direction we want to take our music, and the next album will be killer. The video is also an absolute cracker especially considering it's fully our own making. Joni did absolutely amazing job getting it done. We think the video also summarizes our energy and enthusiasm precisely. The video shoot was easy, we just played the song as we would with an audience. We had only one small setback when the person who was supposed to shoot the video got quarantined because of coronavirus. Fortunately, Joni was able to step up and with little additional help from our "manager" we handled the situation well."

Taiwanese extreme metal masters Chthonic reveal “Oceanquake” video from upcoming "Chthonic Megaport 2021" release

15/5/2021

Chthonic has revealed a second clip, “Oceanquake,” from symphonic extreme metal masters’ upcoming live album and video, Chthonic Megaport 2021, scheduled for release on May 19.

Watch “Oceanquake” today, exclusively via Consequence of Sound at https://consequence.net/2021/05/heavy-culture-chthonic-freddy-lim-oceanquake-video-premiere/.

“Oceanquake” features an appearance by Audrey Tang, a long-time Chthonic fan who currently holds the seat of Digital Minister in Taiwan's cabinet. “Audrey’s voice has been added with Machine Effect,” explains frontman Freddy Lim. “I’ve never known anybody’s voice that fit in so well with this kind of effect. It makes this Chthonic DrumNBass remix so unique!”

Chthonic Megaport 2021 documents Chthonic’s return to the stage to headline Taiwan’s massive Megaport Festival. The release will be available digitally and as a special limited “anti-epidemic bundle” including a physical CD, Chthonic medical-quality mask, a Chthonic mask lanyard, large and small Chthonic mask containers and a small Chthonic spray can for sanitizer will be available. Pre-orders are available at https://ciongzo.com/en/product_detail.php?id=602.

After making history by successfully managing the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan was able to move forward with the Megaport Festival, the first large-scale rock festival since the unprecedented global lockdown. Taking place March 27-28 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the festival featured more than 100 artists on 10 stages. Founded in 2006 by
Chthonic’s Freddy Lim, who left the organizing team after being elected as a member of Taiwanese Parliament in 2016, Megaport Festival attracts tens of thousands of people every year, with this year’s festival selling out its 20,000 tickets within five minutes.

While Taiwan is considered home of Austronesian peoples and a mystic island nation in the Orient, advanced technologies, modern cities, and upholding human rights and progressive values are also part of the image of Taiwan, and Chthonic gives the best interpretation of the contrasting images of the country. Chthonic's lyrics are inspired by Taiwanese mythology, folk stories and history, and the music incorporates elements of traditional Taiwanese folk music, enka and sorrowful melody from Taiwanese opera, accompanied by traditional Taiwanese musical instruments, such as hena, zheng - also known as "box zither"- and pgaku flute. Contemporary symphonic black metal, melodic death metal, blood-boiling riffs and solos are also integral parts of Chthonic's music.

     Several of
Chthonic's albums have entered the In Taiwanese pop-music charts, and the band has been awarded the Golden Melody Award, the Taiwanese version of the Grammy Award. With exception of its earlier works, Chthonic's albums include Seediq Bale (2007), Mirror of Retribution (2009), Takasago Army (2011) and Bú-Tik (2013) were all released worldwide, with positive feedback from music critics. The band took on a lower profile with a reduced number of performances after Lim’s election into the Parliament in 2016, but they still released the album Battlefields of Asura in 2018, which won the Golden Melody Award for Best Band, as well as a number of other nominations. In 2019, Chthonic held a concert with a symphony orchestra in the square in front of Taiwan’s Presidential Office. It attracted 50,000 people, and its live video and audio was digitally released in 2020.

From Fuji Rock and Summer Sonic in Japan to Ozzfest in the US, Bloodstock in the UK and WOA in Germany, Chthonic has performed at major music festivals around the world, and has had toured hundreds of shows in Europe, North America and Asia. The group has also worked with many internationally renowned artists, including Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe, Trivium’s Matt Heafy, guitarist Marty Friedman, Japanese folk singer Hajime Chitose, and Hong Kong diva Dennise Ho.
