Finnish heavy metal band Ratbreed release their new single Master Of Deception via Wormholedeath.
Formed in 2015, the band released their debut album Evoke The Blaze in 2018 and thrived as a solid live act in the Finnish rock club circuit. After a small hiatus, due to line-up changes and Covid-19-related cancellations, they are now working on their second album and offer the first taste of what Ratbreed sounds like in 2022.
The song was mixed and mastered again at Soundspiral Audio by Swallow The Sun guitarist Juho Räihä. Cover art was made by Petri Lampela and Master Of Deception video by Niko Sihvonen (Rocktografia).
Formed in 2015, Ratbreed have gained a reputation in the Finnish metal scene ever since. After a bunch of gigs and getting enough material, the band was ready to wrap up their debut album.
Mixed and mastered by Swallow The Sun guitarist Juho Räihä at Soundspiral Audio, Evoke The Blaze was released via Inverse Records in July 2018, followed by more live shows.
In 2019-2020 the band had some line-up changes as guitarist Markus Taipale and bassist Lauri Palmunen decided to part ways, quickly replaced by Fabio de Oliveira and Tatu Nyman. After the mandatory concert break due to Covid-19, the band successfully hit the stages. While still working on the second album, they are ready to present the new single Master Of Deception, released by Wormholedeath.
Finnish Love Metal pioneer Ville Valo (VV) of HIM will release his debut solo album, Neon Noir, on January 13 via Heartagram Records, distributed by UMG/ Spinefarm. Pre-order it here.
"Neon Noir is a sonic step-by-step guide on how to survive, and perhaps even enjoy, the realm of VV with its abundance of things that go bump in the night," says Valo. "It's a teary mascara marathon between Robert Smith and Ozzy, with a dash of hope."
In the annals of 21st century alternative rock history, there are few artists who cast a longer or more peculiar shadow than Finnish Love Metal pioneer Ville Valo. After all, his band HIM was easily among the most iconic and idiosyncratic groups of the millennium. Zealously revered, gleefully reviled but impossible to ignore, their music left an indelible mark on a worldwide legion of fans. The scarlet letters stood for "His Infernal Majesty." Their founder stood for something delightedly out of step with the status quo.
"We only hoped to temporarily redirect hard rock's blood flow from the nether regions towards the heart," reminisces Valo, the singer, songwriter, and primus motor of HIM. Judging by the monolithic presence of the Heartagram in any account of music this side of the millennium, it's apparent that he succeeded.
Inspired by everyone from Poe to Bukowski and tinged by a penchant for perfumed Sabbathian gloom, Valo's creative lovechild would produce eight era-defining studio releases and over 10 million record sales, not forgetting a Grammy nomination, countless magazine covers, critical acclaim, and the veneration of a generation. Thus, it came as no surprise that the news of a farewell tour in 2017 was greeted with shock and disbelief among devotees and endless speculation as to what or who was to take up the velvet mantle.
“As fun as the funeral rites for HIM were, it took me more than a few moons to lick my wounds in the shadow of the Heartagram and come up with an excuse to strum and hum again. Eventually, I decided put a leash on my beloved black dog and we started howling together instead of barking at each other. That's how VV was born."
Finnish melodic metallers Dreamferno reveal their heavy and massive side with the new single 'Obsolete Certes'
Finnish melodic metal band Dreamferno was founded 2007-2008 in Savonian town of Juva. They released their debut album Equilibrium in 2014 and after that Solitude Remains - EP in 2016. After the EP the band has released some single releases from witch Cosmic Debris track was hidden to a radio on Remedy Entertainment's game Control.
Currently Dreamferno is working on a double album with Krzysztof Dobosiewicz composing the orchestrations to the album. Obsolete Certes reveals the heavy and massive side of the band. The lyrics are about oppression and people living under it.
Finnish four piece Apocalyptica have dropped their very own Cello-Metal reinterpretation of classical bangers with the new EP Metal Classic, Classic Metal. Release day also sees the band unleash the focus track 'Flight of the Bumblebees' originally by Nikolai Rimski-Korsakow.
On the EP's focus track, Perttu Kivilaakso states:
"'Flight of the Bumblebee' is one of the most well-known virtuosic pieces. I have played it during my classical years many times, always aiming for faster and faster performances. This time I thought it would be the coolest thing to make a rough and heavy 'Bee' for our band, basically creating the slowest and most doomy 'Bumblebee' ever! It's fascinating how musical structures can work out in many various ways! This 'Bee' is heavy and angry, but surely flies out with a smile on her face and a blink in it's eye!"
Metal Classic, Classic Metal also includes a new version of Beethoven’s '5th Symphony' as well as a re-do of Maurice Ravel’s 'Bolero'. The full EP is available HERE.
Finnish hair metalcore eccentrics One Morning Left have released new single / video 'Tonight', the first new music from the band since the release of their 2021 album Hyperactive, out now via Arising Empire. The single comes ahead of One Morning Left's Neon Inferno Above Europe tour.
Vocalist / guitarist Leevi Luoto commented:
"Are you ready to shake your booty!? Are you ready to mosh!? Are you ready to sing along!? After our triumphant tour with Electric Callboy and Blind Channel we are back with a banger new single! 'Tonight' is a perfect mixture of danceable groove, heavy riffs, 80's hard rock, 80's synth soundscape and extra catchy vocals! Be sure to catch us soon on our headline tour across Europe with Ukraine's CrossChains and Finland's Somehow Jo!"

Finnish melodic death / black metal discovery Aarctora have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for their album "The Storm Is Over", due for release on September the 30th, 2022.

"Let not your heart be turned to stone, By all manner of earthly woes"
Finnish melodic prog outfit Antipope announce new studio album ‘Rex Mundi’, due out October 28th 2022
Finland's Antipope announce their new studio album - 'Rex Mundi', due out on October 28th 2022 via Moribund Records. Antipope return with their highly anticipated genre-melding 6th Album of melodic and progressive heavy metal: 'Rex Mundi'! A conceptual, progressive melodic heavy metal masterpiece based on the 1200’s Cathar Crusades.
The ever transforming but always recognizable, progressive, melodic heavy metal artisans Antipope are a staple in today’s modern hard music scene. Since their founding in 2004 they have released 5 full length albums, “Desert” (2010), “House of Harlot” (2011), “3 Eyes of Time” (2013), “Denial / Survival” (2017), culminating with 2020’s break-through release “Apostle of Infinite Joy” on Fertile Crescent / Moribund Records.
Finland’s icons of melodic and progressive metal return with their highly anticipated 6th album “Rex Mundi”. A through-and-through concept album is set in the 1200’s based on the Albigensian Crusade / Cathar Wars, delivering 11 bold tracks of progressive, melodic and deeply conceptual metal unrestricted by the confines of any singular genre. The bloody, brutal and tragic story of the birth of the Inquisition and the rise of the church of Rome as the spiritual super-power of the era is backed by melodic yet heavy guitar rhythms which breathe with acoustic segments, all interspersed amongst monster metal riffs and searing drum grooves. The album showcases a depth and range of sound and variation demanded by the epic, brutal, and tragic story told on “Rex Mundi”!
Finnish love metal pioneer Ville Valo (VV) has released "Echolocate Your Love," the second single from his forthcoming debut solo album Neon Noir. The album arrives in early 2023. The elegiac goth-optimism of "Echolocate Your Love" gives a fuller picture of the wrought elegance to come. Watch the video here.
"It's a sonic step-by-step guide on how to survive, and perhaps even enjoy, the realm of VV with its abundance of things that go bump in the night," says Valo. "It's a teary mascara marathon between Robert Smith and Ozzy, with a dash of hope."
You can watch the previously-released video for "Loveletting" here.
Further details about Neon Noir will be released in due course.
In the meantime, VV's headline tour, taking place next year across Europe, the UK and North America – has already sold-out across a number of cities. Get your tickets here to avoid disappointment.
NORTH AMERICAN 2023 TOURDATES:
Finnish symphonic power metal band Everfrost share brand new single "Flyers" taken from "Frostbites", an EP of anime opening song covers coming out November 2022.
The band adds about the track:
"‘Flyers’ by the band BRADIO became a big hit in the Japanese anime scene when it was used as the opening for cult classic show Death Parade. It’s a song we’ve wanted to cover for a long time because of its infectious groove and anthemic chorus, perfect for Everfrost!
On this song we had the privilege of working with featuring vocalist Rob Lundgren, well-known for his bands Mentalist and Reveal, and vocal work on YouTube. His fun, energetic style was perfect for the track and he gave a great performance!
Aside from arranging the song into a heavier genre, main songwriter Benji wanted to elevate the chorus specifically with a huge vocal sound. This lead to us having the pleasure to work with a group of excellent singers in Finland to provide the large group sound heard on the track. This group consisted of Yannis Papadopoulos (Beast In Black), Bini Silvennoinen (Blame Me!), Mikael Salo (ex-Everfrost, Thy Row, Dyecrest) and Sara Strömmer (Shereign, ex-Fear of Domination).
It’s time to crank ‘Flyers’, put your hands up and have a blast this summer!"
The Finnish four piece Apocalyptica announce the release of their very own Cello-Metal reinterpretation of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s legendary 5th Symphony.
Eicca Toppinen says: “The beginning of the fifth symphony by Beethoven is one of the most iconic classical themes ever written. The process of rewriting and transforming it into a new perspective was a challenging but a really joyful ride. Beethoven was one of the first “metal-heads” in classical music which made it even more enjoyable to work out his theme with more modern sound and approach.”
Listen to Apocalyptica’s “Beethoven 5th” and watch the animated visualiser here. The previously released single “Bolero” as well as “Beethoven 5th” are going to be part of Apocalyptica’s upcoming EP named “Metal Classic, Classic Metal”.
Apocalyptica will be touring the US extensively in 2022, as well as playing multiple Summer festivals, among other dates, before hitting Europe with the aptly named “Epic Apocalypse Tour” alongside Epica and Wheel. All dates can be found below.
