French Prog metallers Mantra released a new single from their upcoming album "Medium", set to be released on October 18th via Finisterian Dead End.
Entitled "Mind", the single is a 17 minute long opus that together with its other half explores the body-mind duality along two epic 17 minutes tracks ("Body" and "Mind"), independent from each other but complementary. Superimposed, these two pieces give birth to a third one: the harmony of the body and the mind.

The new single was premiered in different countries:

Free spirit of the French metal scene, Mantra have been exploring the boundaries of progressive music for nearly 10 years. Ritual-like atmospheres on stage, shamanic or metaphysical concept-albums: the band cuts loose to give life to genuine shows, and goes as far as incorporating contemporary dance into its appearances on stage.
The quartet, now scattered around France, unveils in 2019 its third album, MEDIUM, a project that once again pushed its limits. Is the body inseparable from the mind? What remains of us after we die? With MEDIUM, Mantra questions the very meaning of life and touches on a form of total art, crystallizing the interactions between reason and spirituality.
As the underlying theme in MEDIUM's design, the complete superimposition of both sides of the vinyl prompted the group to innovate at every stage of its production: composition, arrangements, mixing and even mastering gave in to the exercise, turning this record into an extraordinary experience, where modern metal reconnects with the irresistible will to innovate of his ancestors.
With nearly a hundred shows behind them, including two appearances at Hellfest, Mantra has become in a few years one of the spearheads of the progressive scene. The album "Laniakea", published in 2016, had marked the spirits by its ability to blend violence and softness into a prehistoric tale. MEDIUM sees the band fully assume its role of precursor, offering a record without any compromise, forever insensitive to conventions and standards.
Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica have unveiled their brand new single ‘Ashes Of The Modern World.’ The song is taken from Cell-0, their upcoming ninth studio album, released on January 10th via Silver Lining Music.
The powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli.
The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years, finding Apocalyptica challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments.
“It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us,” they explained. “Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.”
Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on ‘Ashes Of The Modern World,’ while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during ‘En Route To Mayhem.’
Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while travelling through that creative process.
“These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about,” Toppinen expresses. “But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.”
In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour, including an appearance at Wembley Arena on February 8th 2020. All confirmed dates are below.

"Here’s 'Sapphire', the second single from our upcoming album 'Spiritual Instinct'. This one was also written in a very spontaneous, liberating way and has this 80’s post-punk feel that could remind of The Cure, The Chameleons, or even our older side project Amesoeurs. Hope you guys enjoy it."

Purity Through Fire sets August 19th as the international release date for Neptrecus' highly anticipated third album, Ars Gallica. The album shall be released on limited-edition digipack and normal jewelcase CD formats, with the vinyl LP version following during the winter.
One of the black metal underground's best-kept secrets, Neptrecus have been proudly flying the banner for traditional French black metal since 2011. During that time, they've patiently and studiously built a stellar canon of work that's reverently rooted in '90s classicism but not once smacks of regression or backwards-thinking complacency. If anything, Neptrecus staunchly set their sights on the horizon, and dutifully unfurl forward their attack with windswept grandeur and fiery passion. In short, timeless black metal imagination.
And now, under the auspices of Purity Through Fire do Neptrecus deliver their finest work to date with Ars Gallica. Simply by continuing to do what they do best is how the quartet deliver a master stroke with their third album. Robustly recorded - muscled leanly, metallic where so much black METAL forgets the latter aspect - whilst not losing their intrinsic mysticism, Ars Gallica displays a Neptrecus seemingly drunk on their own power, whipping forth an epic fury atop a breathtaking canvas of textures and emotions. This winding 'n' wily attack betrays an advanced grasp of songwriting that's multi-hued and malicious in equal measure, painting wide swathes of majesty and malevolence, wonder and wickedness. It's as much Olde Worlde as it is new, and makes for a mesmerizing 48-minute journey.
As the once-honorable idiom of French BM continues to be distorted with dissonance and obfuscation, all masking a wholesale lack of actual songwriting, here arises Neptrecus to raise their swords and carry the banner of the past into the present!

French Lovecraftian black metal masters The Great Old Ones have unveiled the cover art, album title and track titles of their upcoming new record, 'Cosmicism'. Furthermore, the band has shared an album teaser, which can be found at the Season of Mist Youtube Channel at the link below. The album is set for worldwide release in the fall of 2019.
Link - https://youtu.be/HiVh5uzWzj0
Vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Guerry comments:-
“'Cosmicism' is a literary philosophy developed by H.P. Lovecraft. In summary, this philosophy expresses the fact that humans are totally insignificant in the light of what is happening in the cosmos, events that we can’t understand, issues that are beyond us. Each song on this album features a specific Lovecraftian entity, as well as the protagonist who meets her, sinking into admiration and madness."
The Great Old Ones emerged from the old parts of the ancient Aquitanian harbour city of Bordeaux, FRANCE - as famed for its secrets as for its deep red wine - in the year 2009. After releasing their first album 'Al Azif', the reactions of critics and fans were unanimously positive.
The Great Old Ones ollowed up with their second full-length 'Tekeli-li', which garnered even higher praise. As a result, the French black metallers played a show at the acclaimed Roadburn festival and Hellfest. Furthermore, the Bordelais opened for BEHEMOTH in their homeland and supported SHINING in France as well as label mates DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT across Europe.
The third full length 'EOD - A Tale Of Dark Legacy' (2017) marked another big step in the band's fast rising career. It kept the promise of luring its listener deeper into darkness. The five piece took the road with the legendary Gaahls WYRD, and embarked on a successful European co-headline tour with AUÐN from Iceland. The band played respected festivals such as Brutal Assault and Eindhoven Metal Meeting in front of a gigantic crowd of cultists.
Now, the French worshippers of Cthulhu reveal their fourth offering to the old ones. “Cosmicism” is a literary philosophy developed by H.P. Lovecraft. In summary, this philosophy expresses the fact that humans are totally insignificant in the light of what is happening in the cosmos, events that we can’t understand, issues that are beyond us.
The production of this album was entrusted to Francis Caste (SINSAENUM, LOUDBLAST, SVART CROWN, REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMER, HANGMAN’S CHAIR) of the Studio Sainte-Marthe, who managed to capture the singular essence of The Great Old Ones.
The record is a true journey in the cold and deep space, in which each song features a Lovecraftian entity, and parallel the dark destiny of the protagonist who meets her. Advanced and melodic black metal of haunting beauty with lyrics inspired by H.P. Lovecraft result in a perfect match. Just listen and you will find out what waits down there...
