New Zealand Thrashers Alien Weaponry release "Ahi Kā" music video; currently touring North America, European tour this summer
Alien Weaponry have released the music video for their new single, "Ahi Kā", which premiered last week over at Billboard. The song represents the first new material from the New Zealand based metal trio since releasing their 2018 debut album, Tū. Fans can check out the music video for "Ahi Kā" via the link below. The track is also featured on Adult Swim's new, streaming-only compilation record Metal Swim 2.
Alien Weaponry's singer-guitarist Lewis de Jong talks about "Ahi Ka" (Which, like many of the band's songs, is sung in New Zealand's indigenous language of Te Reo Māori):-
"Ahi Kā was inspired by the Auckland city council's decision to burn down what was considered to be the unsightly indigenous Maori village of Okahu Bay in advance of Queen Elizabeth II's 1953 visit. The eviction sparked a 40-year battle for the native Ngati Whatua to reclaim their land, including protests and battles with the police. Amid worldwide criticism, a small portion of the original land was ultimately returned with an apology and some compensation."

"Ahi Kā" is available for streaming and purchase through Spotify and iTunes (respectively) over HERE!
Fans and music critics alike have applauded the band's approach to unifying Te Reo Māori (the native language of New Zealand) with thrash metal sensibilities; ultimately creating a sound that is driven by emotionally and politically charged conflict while boasting youthful, warrior-like resilience.
Both Lewis and Henry are of Ngati Pikiāo and Ngati Raukawa (Māori tribal) descent, and began their schooling at a kura kaupapa Māori (full immersion Māori language school) where singing waiata (songs) and performing haka were a daily routine. Also ingrained in their early education were stories of New Zealand history told to them by their father, who would also introduce them to the music of Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Anthrax, Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others.
Alien Weaponry was formed in 2010 by brothers Lewis (vocals & guitar) and Henry de Jong (drums), who were 8 and 10 years old at the time. The two would later move to the small town of Waipu in 2012, and went on to meet Ethan Trembath (bass) there in 2013. The de Jong brothers came up with the name Alien Weaponry after watching the film District 9.
Alien Weaponry have also been nominated for "Best International Breakthrough Band" at the 2019 Heavy Music Awards (UK). The event takes place on August 22nd at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. Fan voting is now open at https://vote.heavymusicawards.com/ until June 27th.

Heart of The Hurricane, the third album of the band, entered the German album charts at #5 last summer. Crossing all musical borders singer Jennifer Haben scored a slot at the current season for German TV series “Sing meinen Song” (sing my song): starting may 7th she will be starring weekly at TV channel Vox besides other well-known artists like host Michael Patrick Kelly. At the same time Heart Of The Hurricane will be re-released; the new Black Edition includes a double-CD with the original record as well as three brand new songs and a best of from their first two releases. With the release of their debut record 2015 the band and their singer Jennifer Haben blew up like a bomb. Songs Of Love And Death has been hold in the charts for weeks and the band received a prestigious “Metal Hammer” award in the category “Newcomer of the year”. The following album Lost In Forever drew on that success, charted at #4 in the German charts and led the band on a mammoth tour across Germany and the UK straight to Russia and Japan.
Since 2014 the band delights their fans regularly at the Wacken Open Air as well as support act for Aerosmith, Korn, Scorpions, Saxon, Within Temptation and many other established international acts.
German death metallers Abythic have just signed a contract with Xtreem Music for the release of their next album, the second in their career, which is currently being mixed and will be released after this summer.
Abythic's new album will be titled Conjuring the Obscure and was recorded at the Flashback Recordings studios under the direction of T.S. (who is also drummer in Suffocate Bastard).
This is what Abythic guitarist MDB says about Conjuring the Obscure:
"This new album is divided into four chapters. For each chapter, a different singer sings; with each chapter, the whole equipment was changed; with each chapter, we play a different style. In chapter 1, we play more classic Swedish-styled death metal very inspired by old Grave (You'll Never See… era); in chapter 2, we play more Finnish-styled death metal like old Belial, Demigod etc; in chapter 3, we switch back to Sweden…but this time, more into death/black metal very inspired by Necrophobic; and on the 4th chapter, we are very inspired by US death metal like old Deicide and Malevolent Creation (The Fine Art of Murder era). So, we have a very dynamic album with a lot of surprises.
I think we created something unique in this genre, especially by changing the styles and productions within the album. T.S. is also the drummer on this Abythic album. Normally, I played drums in the past, but this time, I'm playing all guitars on this. On the previous releases, I also wrote the whole material for the band. On this new Abythic album, you will find members from bands like Reckless Manslaughter, Selfdevoured, Anam, ex-Ingurgitating Oblivion, and Suffocate Bastard."
The new Abythic logo has been made by the legendary Belgian artist Christophe Szpajdel, while the cover art has been painted by Jenglot Hitam.
More details about the album will be revealed when the mixing is finished during this summer. In the meantime, you can hear their previous album HERE. For more info, consult the links blow.
New Zealand's Melodic Death / Doom duo Lysithea release new album via German label Naturmacht Prods.
The New Zealand melodic death/doom based duo Lysithea return with their new full-length opus 'Star-Crossed' and releasing it today via the German sub-label, Naturmacht Productions.
The follow up to 2015's 'Realms', Star-Crossed tells a dark tale of love, loss and mortality. Weaving soaring leads, punishing roars and a dense, unearthly atmosphere, Star-Crossed finds the band at its most pensive and powerful.
Experimental. Variable. Unconventional: Some attributes which perfectly describe the sound of Sober Truth. The sound of this band is quite unique, a break of most musical conventions.
From the start in 2007, narrow-minded folks and rigid ears have been struggling with the edgy sound of the Progressive Groove formation.
On the new album buster "Psychosis" singer and guitarist Torsten Schramm, lead guitarist Aaron Vogelsberg, bass-witch Jules RoCkwell and drummer Sam Baw go so massive in the full as never before.
The quartet's most mature work to date presents a truly eruptive burst of Modern Metal music that takes its listeners into another world.
The combination of melancholic rich sounds, energetically resounding guitar riffs, driving drums and punchy bass-lines can excite fans of Progressive Rock / Metal, Groove Metal and Thrash Metal alike.
The hard and groovy guitar riffs on "Psychosis" are a powerful base to bring out the driving choruses and the very versatile vocals along with rough shouts.
Blastbeats, tappings, clean parts, the 2019 palette is quite wide. But the accurately targeted diversity in the tracks also includes rousing played, very variably accented drums.
Lyrically, SOBER TRUTH have gone to so much trouble for "Psychosis" to compete with a contemporary concept. (Markus Eck)
The band commented about: "What do we see in the human being facing us, does he show us his truth or a mask? The inner grief changes him, imperceptibly, cruelly, tearing him and scarring his psyche. Everyone knows the feeling of powerlessness, at first timid, then with force flooding our consciousness, unstoppable and mercilessly. The wave ebbs, leaving behind a trembling, naked body, the worst is yet to come: fear ..."
More: "With titles like 'Akardos' (Heartless), 'Solitude' and especially the title track 'Psychosis', we enter a personal universe of grief, loneliness, doubt that many people know. With 'Psychosis' awakens maybe a truth that we repressed ... but also hope, power and confidence. SOBER TRUTH takes us on a mental rollercoaster ride that lets the last track roll out congenially. We're changing every day, all our lives. The new album picks up where we start to repress. 'Psychosis' looks at our scarred psyche and tells our story."
Official release of the new album "Psychosis": February, 23th 2019.

German Death Metallers Pesterous Mind have been well-known to the underground since their demo from 2016. In the beginning of 2018, they signed a contract with Boersma-Records in order to release the successor of their 2017 debut album „Infinite Abyss“. It was worth the waiting, because on March 29th, 2019, the time will have come: "Haaluci.Nation" is the name of the second album!
German industrial metal pioneers Oomph! have entered the German album charts at #1 for the first time with their sixth full-length "Ritual", which has just been released via Napalm Records.
Oomph! will hit the European roads with "Ritual" in March and while the show in Bochum is already out, ticket reserves are also running low in other German cities as well as in Prague in the Czech Republic. All currently announced dates are listed below.
The band is commenting on their success:-
"We are already in the middle of preparations for our European tour and we can hardly wait to present our number one album live on stage. While composing 'Ritual' we made sure that all tracks are also working well in a live setting - they rock! We are burning to go out and celebrate those brand new songs with our fans!"
