Dalriada evoked the atmosphere of autumn with low-tuned guitars, a bit less folk instruments and more guitar-centric songs on their 10th album, “Őszelő”. This quintessential record of 9+1 new songs contains all familiar elements of Hungary’s most delightful folk metal band; from enormous choirs to epic battle-songs, with lyrics about Hungarian legends, mythology and history. The album is going to be released on the 9th of April, and can now be pre-ordered below as Digipak CD and Digipak 2 CD + DVD Limited Edition, coming with their long-awaited first live DVD called “Hazatérés - 15 év Dalriada” (English: Homecoming - 15 Years of Dalriada) which was recorded in October 2019 on their 15th Anniversary Show. An album teaser video is also available below with a snippet of each song.
In February we saw the release of their latest music video, “Betyár-altató”, (Eng.: Outlaw’s Lullaby) an emotional journey of love, adventure, and tragedy into the world of rogues, outlaws and highwaymen of the Great Hungarian Plain of the 19th century, produced and shot by Mihaszna Film. “Betyár-altató” is the third new song to be premiered off the forthcoming album, following the acoustic, special piece “Ezer csillag” (Eng.: A Thousand Stars) last summer, and “Őszi ének” (Eng.: Autumn’s Song)in December. Dalriada was also featured on a Kalapács tribute album in October, performing the song “Sólymok fészke”.

Hungarian folk metal band Dalriada has shared another new song called “Őszi ének” (English: Autumn Song), which is taken from their forthcoming album “Őszelő” to be released in Spring 2021. You can watch the lyric video and read the English translation of the lyrics on the link below. Dalriada: Őszi ének (Official lyric video) - youtu.be/-Otb_kiNbE4 András Ficzek (vocals, guitars) on the lyric video:- “Brothers and Sisters! We’re proud and happy to present you “Őszi ének” (Autumn Song) from our “Őszelő” album. It’s one of our biggest favourite from the new record, and it’s a great summary of our thoughts about Hungarian folk metal these days. If you like it, or even if you don’t, please share your opinion with us, and share the song itself to let it reach as many people as possible!” The band premiered the first song from “Őszelő” in June, “Ezer Csillag” (English: A Thousand Stars) is a unique ballad, an original composition with the authentic sound of traditional Hungarian folk music, featuring the band’s long time collaborators, Fajkusz Banda on violins, violas and double bass. Dalriada - Ezer csillag (Official Music Video) - youtu.be/Or5l3HovzsM Dalriada are Hungary’s most popular folk metal band, having released 10 full-length albums over 15 years with their unique sound and music performed with both male and female clean vocals and occasional growls. They’ve gained significant attention over the years, recording a song with Korpiklaani singer Jonne Järvelä, being constant performers of the biggest European metal festivals (like Sabaton Open Air, Leyendas del Rock, Wacken, Masters of Rock and Ragnarök Festival, etc.), toured in Japan with Orphaned Land and Myrath, performed on the 7000 Tons of Metal Festival on the cruise ship sailing the Caribbeans, and they’ve also toured in Europe with Faroese metal band Týr last year. Symphonic metal band Tales Of Evening have released a brand new song and music video, “Leap of Faith”, also recorded in their native language as “Csak én látom”. Taken from their upcoming album, which is expected to be released in 2021, the new song continues the tradition of English language songs started by their 2019 album, “A New Dawn Awaits”. Main songwriter, bandleader and keyboardist Attila Ádám shared his thoughts about the new song, the shooting of the music video and their future plans below. Tales Of Evening - Csak én Látom (Official Music Video) (Hungarian version) youtu.be/D44YNxJKjJ4 Tales Of Evening - Leap of Faith (Official Music Video) (English version) youtu.be/1GwHQxd6JBY “The base of our new song, “Csak én látom” has been finished for a while now, but we had to delay the release several times due to the pandemic. We definitely wanted to publish “Csak én látom”, because it’s very important for us to always release something between the albums. The feedback for our latest album, “A New Dawn Awaits” has been very positive, and while touring with Rhapsody Of Fire this spring, it’s also been proven that international audiences are quite fond of those songs as well. On that tour we had the chance to share our music live with wonderful people of various countries. English version of the song, “Leap Of Faith” was recorded to make this kind of international interaction possible once again. As many of us are from Zala county, Hungary, this music video was shot and directed by Balázs Gerócs at the Hevesi Sándor Theatre at Zalaegerszeg, and also in the village where I was born, Tornyiszentmiklós. Although the song is unusually short, it is especially tight and modern in sound. It is thought-provoking and also carries a strong message, hence we hope it gets the attention by fans and radios we think it deserves. It is also the first song we’ve recorded with our new bass guitarist, Dávid Szegedi, who’s also a student of the Music Studio of Kőbánya. 2021 is Tales Of Evening’s 10th birthday, and we’re working hard to celebrate it with a brand new album. This song is it’s first herald, so we’re positive it will become something truly special.” www.talesofevening.com/ www.facebook.com/talesofevening/ www.instagram.com/talesofevening/ twitter.com/talesofevening www.facebook.com/HammerMusicHungary/ Extreme Deformity are considered by many as the most famous Hungarian death metal band. Founded in 1990, the band was also the first ever Hungarian band to be celebrated with a postcard and stamp for their 30th anniversary. Disbanded in 1995, Extreme Deformity released a demo in 1992 and a full-length entitled "Internal" came in 1993. These records have been re-released on CD in 2011 by Hungarian label Neverheard Distro, which is now working on the re-mastered re-release of "Internal" album and "Demo 1992" on double 12" vinyl. The postcard and stamp will be available as part of the limited Die Hard" version of the Double LP "Internal + Demo 1992". Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of this DLP was postponed but hopefully will see daylight by the end of 2020. Extreme Deformity - www.facebook.com/ExtremeDeformityOfficial Neverheard Distro - www.facebook.com/nhd666 Bandcamp - https://neverhearddistro.bandcamp.com Symphonic metal band Meteora has released a new song and lyric video off their latest album “Tragedy Of Delusion” released in March. “Stay Among Us” is the third song they’ve released as a video from this record, and it was made by István Lajcsák who has created the artwork of all their albums, the videos of “My Reality” and “After the Civil War”, and was also the designer of the “champion poster” that can be seen in the music video of “Memento Mori”. The band is often referred to as "The lovechild of Nightwish and Fleshgod Apocalypse" - they’re known for balancing the melodies and operatic elements of Therion, Nightwish, Epica and After Forever with the more extreme influences of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh and Gojira, offering a perfect mixture for the lovers of both sides of metal music. Meteora: Stay Among Us (Official lyric video) - youtu.be/mvK8lNRqRa0 Máté Fülöp (screamed vocals, bass) has shared details of how his personal life and thought sparked the idea behind this song: “Ever since its conception - from the first rehearsals to recording it in studio and listening to the final mastered version countless times - we’ve felt this song has a very personal and special meaning to us. We’ve been absolutely sure we’d love to release a video for this one! This song was born when my whole family, including Atilla (Atilla Király, keyboards/vocals) who is my cousin was going through very difficult times. On that spring one of my grandfathers was hospitalized with a serious stroke, not much time after my other granddad passed away. Not many people know it, but that same spring I was hospitalized too after being hit by a car. I’ve spent the summer in bed, and spent the autumn learning how to walk again, just like my grandfather, who survived the stroke, but was paralysed for a while. Knowing all this makes it much more understandable why this song is about passing. It consist of two parts. The first, slower segment describes the kind of passing away that we gently, slowly accept when it happens to our grandparents and elder relatives. The other half of the song is about the kind of caducity that we fight against, because it happens to us - emotions, memories, and ultimately, our own lives. Many people experience that they cannot perpetuate and store their memories the way they want them to. Although the digital world offers us countless ways, even some of the most important moments of our lives are easily erased from our brains, like it was leached from time to time. It was in the hospital I’ve felt for the first time that I’ve been rushing through everything in my life too quickly, maybe because I have too many activities in the same time: my job, theatricals, Meteora, and so on. There is an exciting challenge for every single week that maybe happens to other people twice a year. Spending time in studio with the band, performing a few plays in the theatre, sending an application for a building permit at work, then a show with Meteora on the next day. I felt - and keep feeling it to this very day - that I can’t fully live and keep these important events within me, because the next day comes another one which pales the one before. So this song is also an advice. If we can, try to slow down a little bit. Let’s think through our days, lest we miss anything that might be important. Maybe these tough times - the pandemic - are also about making us realize this. If you can, stay at home. Listen to some (or a lot!) of metal. The video of “Stay Among Us” hides many little mysteries as well: what’s the meaning of the three-way crossroads in the savannah, the lonely tree, the pianist, the child with a dog, the white piece of hair of that girl? There could be so much to be said about these, but they all reflect to something very personal by each member. So for now, we’d like the ones who watch this video to find out the meaning behind these secrets.” Meteora members: Noémi Holló - lead vocals Máté Fülöp - bass, harsh vocals & screams Csaba Solymosi - guitars Atilla Király - keyboards & clean vocals Gábor Kása - drums www.facebook.com/meteorabandhungary/ www.youtube.com/user/Meteorabandhungary/ www.facebook.com/HammerMusicHungary Symphonic metal band Meteora is going to release their second album “Tragedy Of Delusion” as the bonus CD of the March edition of HammerWorld Magazine (Hungary), and will be distributed separately starting next month. The record will also be available for online streaming on several platforms (Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Apple Music, Google Play Music and Amazon Music). Following the success of last year’s new song “My Reality”, Meteora are now back with another new track and music video, “Memento Mori” that you can see on the link below. Meteora: Memento Mori (Official Music Video) - youtu.be/IzP1_RMSZ0s Meteora // Apple Music: music.apple.com/hu/album/tragedy-of-delusion/1498717725?l=hu Keyboardist Atilla Király about Memento Mori: “Memento Mori is one of the catchiest songs of the new album. It’s among the last ones that I wrote, the previous few pieces turned out to be kinda long and complex so Noémi asked to do something more simple to chill a bit. But since we didn’t want to overcomplicate the structure this time it needed something extra to fit in with the rest of the album. That is when we made the decision to hire professional singers for the choir parts of the record, so that with the three vocalists we have in the band already we could have a bigger sound. With the organ at the beginning – which sets the mood – and this big choir sound it really gained the feeling of a Meteora song. We played this a few times live already, and the crowd seemed to be enthusiastic to memento mori with us during the choirs. :)” “The title is a common phrase, ’remember death’, or in an other translation ’remember that you will die as well (because you are just a human after all)’. In the lyrics we visit the different philosophical aspects of death during the ages from the Roman Empire up until today. As soon as we finished the song we knew this was one that we wanted to shoot a video for. With the lyrics centered around death we didn’t want to push the video into total lethargy, so we tweaked the meaning of the phrase a bit: no king rules forever, everyone is defeated once. A game of football, poker or something like that would have been too average though. While we were thinking about the details we were approached by Deltavision with their interest in working together, and since Noémi and me are huge fans of one of their card games the solution just presented itself. We wanted to make it a joke, because if we took this setup seriously the end product would most likely have been funny in a bad way… :D We had a lot of laughs during the shooting and while putting the video together, so hope we can at least make people smile just a bit as well!” - Atilla added. Meteora was originally formed in 2010, but became more busy and active since the release of their 2017 debut album, “Our Paradise”. Their music is presented in a “beauty and the beast” style regarding the vocals, the melodic voice of the front-lady Noémi Holló is accompanied by the growls and screams of bass guitarist Máté Fülöp. Lately keyboardist / main songwriter Atilla Király has also joined them behind the microphone, so “Tragedy Of Delusion” is going to feature clean male vocals as well in some of the songs. You can also check out another song off their second album, “My Reality” below. Two years after their latest chart breaking album, Fury, they’ve reconnected to their roots and choose to reincarnate stronger than ever before. Napalm Records is looking forward to work on a new record with these exceptional musicians. Over the course of the past twenty-six years and uncountable worldwide live shows, Ektomorf have established themselves to a powerful position in the Groove / Thrash metal scene. Their earthshaking grooves not only perfectly match with Zoli’s rough vocals, but always come along with a critical, strong message. Ektomorf are tearing down the walls to unite everyone with their mesmerizing, yet energetic sound! Zoltan "Zoli" Farkas on the signing: “I am very happy and proud to be a part of the Napalm family now. This is definitely a new chapter in my carrier that reaches the next level with the combination of Napalm Records and Napalm Events. Napalm Records is the best label I can imagine to release the new Ektomorf album and to go new ways together with us. Napalm Events is very well established by now and I can't wait to go on a world tour again with the new album and play further countries. I am very thankful to my new manager Tom, he made this work out. We visited together the Napalm team in Berlin last week. We had very good conversations and a lot of fun. The combination of Napalm Records and Napalm Events is really unique because of the close cooperation. I am super motivated and can’t wait to start with the Napalm team. The new chapter starts now!” Markus Jakob, Napalm Records, adds: ”We’re happy to welcome Ektomorf to the Napalm family and work hard on both album and live activities! Zoltan for sure is one of the hardest working metal musicians out there and definitely outdid himself on the upcoming record - expect nothing but a cross-generational thrash manifesto! Here’s to a bright and heavy mutual future!” EKTOMORF are: Zoltán Farkas – vocals, guitars Simon Szebasztián – guitars Csaba Zahorán – bass Kálmán Oláh – drums Science fiction-influenced electronic progressive metal band Mytra is going to release the follow-up to their long awaited 2014 debut album early February via Nail Records. The second full-length, titled “Logos” contains 11 brand new songs featuring ethereal synthesizers, electronic melodies and effects with diverse vocal performances. Check out the lyric video for the first song “N.I.R.A.” which is now available for streaming on the link below! Mytra - N.I.R.A. (Official lyric video) - youtu.be/E4hCTS8BI_g Guitarist/vocalist Róbert Hocza had this to say about the new song: “The new song, “N.I.R.A” is about the symbiosis of human beings and machines, which is not so much of science fiction any more as there has been numerous experiences where the connection between the human brain and machines controlled by them have proven to be successful. In the near future the digital gadgets on our tables, in our pockets and hands will become parts of our bodies and will serve us expanding our comfort zones as our stationary helpers. This technological advancement will however most probably going to strike the killing blow to the already dying social interactions and connections, so humanity enters a new historical age: the cycle of digital solitude is about to begin.” With “Logos” MYTRA claim to have taken a much more direct and straightforward approach to the songs, making them their heaviest and most compact one to date. Beside the usual female lead vocals and vocoder, this time the album also features male growled vocals. Just like the debut album, the recording, mixing and mastering of “Logos” took place in the home studios of the band members over a one year period. The band commented on the new album by saying:- "5 years after “Beta” we’ve completed work on the follow-up of the debut album, “Logos” is it’s direct successor and it is now finally ready to be unleashed! Over the last few years the band went through many changes both music and line-up-wise, but the overall atmosphere and sound remained the same. We don’t want to make anyone get lost in the maze of over-complicated genre definitions, so it’s up to each of you to call this material what you feel like it is.” Mytra Line-up: Viktória Hocza - vocals, keyboards Róbert Hocza - vocals, guitars István Bidlek - guitars Roland Lovas - bass Tamás Tóth - drums www.facebook.com/MytraOfficial/ www.facebook.com/HammerMusicHungary/ Finnish Cello Metal veterans Apocalyptica release brand new video for 'En Route To Mayhem'18/12/2019 Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rock band Apocalyptica have released the video for ‘En Route To Mayhem’, which will transport the viewer to a fantastical post-humanity future. This imaginary world is barren, dusty, and littered with broken pieces of things once considered essential to humankind such as bits of plastic, a teddy bear, crumbling structures, cell phones and computers, bleached bones, and long-forgotten musical instruments. The setting is devoid of mankind, but brimming with the hope of new life; and then one day, thunder, lightning, and one drop at a time, it begins to rain, and Mother Nature steps in. Check out the ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video HERE. Apocalyptica’s Eicca Toppinen comments:- “‘En Route To Mayhem’ is a journey of hedonic needs growing into greed and aggression, driving into inner mayhem and ending without satisfaction. This video underlines the fact that however we think we are in control by destroying things and life around us, life itself will take over in the end, always. We are not in control of the bigger picture, and we should be aware of it and raise our respect to life around us.” The ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video is in support of Apocalyptica’s upcoming album, Cell-0, due out January 10th, 2020 via Silver Lining Music. Produced by Apocalyptica – cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki. The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. Cell-0 is the quartet's first instrumental album in 17 years and found the musicians challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments. For Cell-0 pre-order options, go to this location. Perttu Kivilaakso comments:- “Cell-0 has a concept which is to challenge the listeners to question themselves and ask “Am I doing the best I can for the environment, for other beings? Is there still something I can change?” To highlight environmental issues, the band wanted to ask fans to do something for our planet; so to coincide with the release of the new video, they have launched a very special competition, which will give fans the chance to win the opportunity for Apocalyptica to play in their living room. To enter, fans will need to show the band how they are making the planet a healthier place for everyone. Fans can head to their Facebook page and comment with photos/videos showing what they are doing to help the planet and telling the band why they should be picked as a winner. To find out more information, head to the band’s Facebook page. The online contest is open to all European fans from now and will close at 7:00 pm CET Friday, January 10th, 2020. Full terms and conditions can be found here. In concert, Apocalyptica are known for their moving live performances and will kick off the New Year as Special Guests on Sabaton's 15-country, 23-date European arena tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland. With a set list that will likely vary night to night, Apocalyptica's performances will be comprised of new songs from Cell-0 as well as from the band's rich catalogue. The new album contains 14 tracks re-recorderd and re-arranged with English lyrics, each selected from their previously released 3 Hungarian language albums. "A New Dawn Awaits" was mastered by Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann (Orden Ogan) and the music was transformed into image on the cover art and the layout design by Alex Mihályfi-Tóth (Redart Illustrations). Tales Of Evening - Shelterless Soul (Official Music Video):- youtu.be/XPZCbUG9c80 “We’ve chosen “Shelterless Soul” because it’s original Hungarian version, “Hajléktalan lélek” along with “Lázadás” (English version: “Rebellious Soul” on the new album) have been performed at every single Tales Of Evening concert so far. It’s a very significant song it the band’s history, and an important part of our shows, we love it dearly, and according to feedback given by our fans, it’s not just our favourite! We trust we can get this song to as many people as possible all around the world, to present a very accurate picture how this band looks and sounds like. We hope on our future gigs this song will be sang along in English by the crowd just as passionately as they sing it in Hungarian!” - Lead songwriter/lyricist and keyboardist Attila Ádám commented. Stream the new album online: (Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play Music, Tidal, Deezer) songwhip.com/album/tales-of-evening/a-new-dawn-awaits Physical copies can be ordered at metalshop.hu: www.metalshop.hu/product_info.php?products_id=21602 All songs are completely re-recorded and re-arranged, Tales of Evening now sound bigger and more powerful than ever as the recording and mixing process was again taken over by keyboardist Attila Ádám with Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann of Orden Ogan handling the mastering; energetic guitars and Ádám’s monumental keyboard melodies are towering over the record, naturally entwining with the ravishing voice of Ivett Dudás. Although foundations of their music is undeniably feeding from the Nightwish / Within Temptation / etc. school, Tales of Evening falls short on cliches surrounding female fronted metal bands and pay respect to the pioneers of the genre without copying and rehashing the well known trademarks of the style, creating a very unique and enchanting atmosphere of their own. Check out the stunning and magnificent lyric video for "Miracle of Mind" below! Tales Of Evening - Miracle Of Mine (Official Lyric Video):- youtu.be/qsERn23c2To Hungary’s most popular symphonic metal band has produced 3 full-length albums so far, and quickly became a constant performer on all Hungarian rock/metal music festivals and clubs, leaving their mark on the local scene with an ever increasing international attention coming from all around the world. The band started teasing their English language album last December with a new song and video clip called “Flower of Frost”, also recorded in Hungarian as “Jégvilág”, both set to appear on this record for the first time. Tales Of Evening - Flower of Frost (Official Music Video):- youtu.be/MhhGQqjf5L4 Attila Ádám had this to say about the album previously: “Seeking new possibilities and more ways to reach people with our music and message, we’ve realized it’s important to record an album in English. We’d like to perform in as many different countries as possible. Our re-recorded and re-arranged material was once again mastered by Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann, who’s known for his wonderful performance in Orden Ogan, and we’re very satisfied with the result!” www.talesofevening.com/ www.facebook.com/talesofevening/ www.instagram.com/talesofevening/ twitter.com/talesofevening www.facebook.com/HammerMusicHungary/ |
