Hungarian heavy metal veterans Kalapács have just released their 10th studio album called Örökfekete (English translation: Everblack) today via Hammer Records. A lyric video for the first new song ‘A lángok évada’ was premiered last week and can be seen below. The disc was recorded by László Weisz at his very own studio, Ecseri Vasmű. The cover art was designed by Ádám Devecz (SNDSGN / HammerWorld).

Kalapács was formed by Hungarian heavy metal singer József Kalapács in 2000 after participating in successful bands like Pokolgép and Omen in the ‘80s and ‘90s respectively. The band’s name means Hammer, and that is indeed his real surname.

The 2-disc digipak version - beside the 12 brand new songs - also contains the “Félszáz év Total / 30 év Metal” (English translation: Half-Hundred Years Total / 30 Years of Metal) bonus DVD, recorded at the 50th birthday concert of József Kalapács in 2015. Hungarian thrashers Archaic have revealed their brand new video for “The Saw”, taken from their latest album How Much Blood Would You Shed To Stay Alive. The album is a follow-up to their first full-length, Time Has Come To Envy The Dead that was released more than 12 (!) years ago in 2005 via ViC Records. The debut quickly gained the band international recognition and got them to a tour to support Testament in Germany.
The band issued their new video with the following description to set the mood:
“In 2018, a large number of dead bodies were found in a hidden room, near to thrash metal band Archaic's rehearsal room. A badly damaged video camera was found thrown into a near trash container. The following footage was retrieved from the broken memory card. Viewer discretion advised.”
► You can watch it on the following link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_oxYc_o7k4
The band stated the following - as they won awards for the best studio production and best artwork also:
“The recording process has started in 2016 with Attila Vörös (SOW, Satyricon) and continued with István Horváth (ex-Blind Myself, PMA). We’ve recorded it only for ourselves, we neither wanted to release it, nor to make it available publicly. The mood was always excellent in the studio, and during the recording we were convinced to take this album seriously. Following a series of positive feedback, we asked Péter Sallai to make something for the cover art, which he did in merely 4 days. The rest is history…”

Hungary-based electronic/modern metal band divideD have just unleashed a new EP titled “A Hundred Times”. The 6-song digital release includes reworked and live versions of the title song, taken from their debut album Modulus released last November. All songs are available for streaming on YouTube, and can be purchased on all popular online platforms as of 22 March. Four of the songs were accompanied by video clips and can be viewed below.
The mentioned first full-length album also won the award for “best debut album” in their home country.
► divideD - A Hundred Times EP
► The remixes as described by the band:
Lounge jazz remix:
"Sometimes a falling out that leads to breaches in friendship can also unleash creative energies in the band, and this version is a shining example of that. We’ve felt for a long time that A Hundred Times has the potential to work in a completely new approach with a different instrumentation. So when the aforementioned problems prevented us from testing some of the new gear in our home studio, all we’ve left is an acoustic guitar and the mood of American pubs of the ‘50’s - ‘60’s. To crown the performance and deliver a more authentic feeling and scent of cigar smoke and Tennessee whisky, we’ve invited our friend András Schubert to enrich the song with Saxophone."
Campfire / unplugged:
"We’ve always wanted to make a puritan, acoustic guitar-only version of this song, but we’ve always had something more important to do. The ‘Lounge remix’ already introduced the utilization of acoustic guitars, so now re-arranging the vocals is all we had to do to create a version that makes you remember on cold winter days what it’s like to sit beside a campfire on summer nights for a few minutes."
"Belmont and PsyKlone are huge Cadillacs & Dinosaurs fans for at least twenty years, and the whole theme/design of the Modulus album was based on Konami’s classic arcade games, so it was almost mandatory to create a version fitting for the pixel-graphic artwork of the booklet. Belmont approached TomboFry, who’s known for his 8-bit YouTube videos, to make an 8-bit version of the song. He even programmed an additional solo to it. To see a Cadillac with a divideD logo in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by dinosaurs is a dream came true."
"The 2015 version of the song, as it was released originally on our first material. Different sound and mixing than the album version."
"Live recording of the song as it was performed on Stagediving Festival earlier this year. The whole show was recorded with multiple cameras in good quality, and will be released at a later date. This first song is a token to those who attended the event, and a taste of the band’s live performance for those who have never seen us live."

For the first time Hungary has chosen a metal song to be the winners of "A Dal" (The Song), Hungary's national selection television show for the Eurovision Song Contest. The post-hardcore / modern metal band, AWS are going to represent their country with their emotional song “Viszlát nyár” (Eng.: Goodbye, Summer) performed in their native language in Lisbon this May.
The band was founded in 2006 by Bence Brucker, Dániel Kökényes, Örs Siklósi, and Áron Veress in high school, who were later joined by current bass guitarist Soma Schiszler. Combining different elements of nu-metal, metalcore, post-hardcore and psychedelic rock, the band managed to produce 3 full-length albums, 3 singles and 7 video clips in the 12 years of their career. Following a decade of successful club shows and even major festival appearances from all over Hungary to Austria, Slovenia, Romania and the United Kingdom, the band was announced as one of the participants of A Dal in 2017.
Winning live performance of “Viszlát nyár” in A Dal: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcWC7XOBZIE
The well deserved victory came as a big surprise, although the band united the Hungarian metal scene like no band before. Musicians from all over the country encouraged their fans to cast their votes for AWS from popular rock musicians of bands like Tankcsapda, and Road, to members of death metal band Kill With Hate. Also, fellow competitor metal band Leander Kills asked their fans too to support AWS with their votes.
A well-known name among lovers of heavy music in the underground metal scene, AWS was chosen from 8 entries who made it through to the final rounds of the show. These acts were judged by a four-member jury consisting of well-known figures of the Hungarian music and art scene. Unexpectedly, AWS sneaked into the super-final round in the company of 3 pop music acts to steal the show: in this final stage, people from all over the world were able to vote their favourite ones. This is what ultimately earned the band their triumph: AWS knocked pop music out of their way to claim the first place with the help of metal fans.
The dynamic winning song, featuring both clean and screamed vocals, was inspired by a family tragedy. Frontman Örs Siklósi comments:
"<Viszlát nyár> was put together in a summer camp in the company of a few bottles of wine. The lyrics are originally about my father, who passed away recently. We tried to make the video a little bit different. We didn't want it to be only about my story, so other band members can relate to it as well. We've emptied all our family video archives to demonstrate the passing of time and to stress how important it is to look after our beloved ones, because nobody's got too much time here to mess around."
“Viszlát nyár” Official Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQgurXKh42U
The band also stated that they plan to perform the song unchanged with additional visual elements and the same intensity as they do in front of their fans.
The world hasn’t seen a metal band winning the Eurovision Song Contest since Finland’s Lordi shocked the audience with their horror metal in 2006. 12 years passed, and now the chance to make the winds of change blow is here again. But if metalheads of the continent can unite once again to line up behind this band in 2018, if together we can make this competition not to be merely about pop music, that remains to be seen.

Hungarian black metallers Nemere will release their debut full-length "Vérmezõ", on February 22nd via Neverheard Distro on CD and MC.
"Nemere" originally is a mountain range in Transylvania, and they call the powerful wind which blows from there like that too. Nemere play old style black metal with Hungarian lyrics and so far they've released two demos in 2009 and 2010, respectively, then recorded their first full-length in 2012 which wasn't released as Nemere stopped functioning like a proper band and the whole project was shelved for later times. Those “later times” have come and their debut full-length "Vérmezõ" (Bloodfield) is ready to take all old-school black metal fans by storm.

Hungarian black metallers Nocrul have released their fourth full-length "Eye Of Terror" via Bandcamp. It contains seven new heroic black metal songs and a cover from the band Heaven And Hell.
The band comments: "The Eye of Terror is a realm of madness and despair, where skies weep blood, ancient stars burn in multi-coloured flares and the whims of the Dark Gods of Chaos hold sway. The weak and foolish bands like to say the new record is their very best - we think this kind of statement is pure humiliating of the previous releases and the listeners who enjoyed them. Nocrul's new material is just as good as any others before! The only but slightly differences is that the songs have more variety through the album than before - not to be better, but because this was the requirement of the Chaos Gods!"
Apart from Bandcamp you can find the first lyric video on Youtube!
Unsigned Budapest alternative metal outfit Madison Paradox has just unleashed a new video to the masses. The video, for the song "SINS," is a hybrid music/lyric video for the title track of their debut album that was released July 30th. The band features ex-Claps For Caroline drummer Zoltan Rivasz-Toth and will be taking 2018 by storm.
"My number one track on our debut album was "Sins" from the moment we finished writing it. I knew I planned wicked and painful visuals to reflect on the lyrics themselves. It is everything we wanted our album to be, hence the album title becoming 'SINS' as well. Its atmosphere swallows me for 3 minutes and then spits me back into reality when its done feeding off my current mood.”
- Peter Torok (Vocalist)
Madison Paradox is an alternative metal band, established in August of 2016 from Budapest. Their story begins with finding the fifth and final member to their current formation, "We’d hit the point of no return when Zoltan Rivasz-Toth (ex-Claps for Caroline) joined as our drummer. He was well prepared to take the best out of the band with lots of experience on stage and within the music industry. We showed 2 of our demo songs and that basically set the five of us to start writing an entire LP. It’s been a year of music production along with the preparation for live shows and the shooting of our first music video for "ESC".”
They played their first show 4 months after appearing on social media by opening up to Jonny Craig’s newest formation, SLAVES, in Budapest. They acknowledged it as a huge success as their first show, "The reactions were mind blowing. We thought that people barely know the band and suddenly we are standing on stage with countless people in front of us, singing our songs by heart.” The undeniable "Madison-sound" has an atmospheric, emotional appeal to their darker roots reflected by heavy breakdowns, and close-to-pop clean vocals in contrast of raw screams. The unique blend of metal music and dark melodies guarantee the euphoric feeling on their shows as well as the shivering we all strive for, which is seen on their first album S I N S that was released July 30th, 2017.
