London's most successful Industrial Metal bands of recent times The Defiled have called it a day. This statement is taken from the band's Facebook page:- "It is with heavy, blackened hearts, that we inform you that the time has come to lay The Defiled to rest. There is no drama or fallouts, but we have been forced to face the reality that the love of what we do is not enough to keep our black ship sailing; the continuation of The Defiled has become logistically (financially) untenable. Thank you - you, our fans, have given us a life experience that we could have never dreamed of. From a grotty flat in north London, you have enabled us to reach places we’d previously only read or heard about, allowed us to grace stages all over the world, cheered for us at some of the worlds most prestigious festivals and granted us the opportunity to perform alongside some of our heroes. And we are in the Guinness Book Of World Records - WTF??!! Seeing you singing our words back to us, hearing your stories on how our music has affected you, watching you lose your shit to the heavy bits and seeing the spontaneous outpouring of love when some of you linked arms and made a "circle of love” at our last London show has moved us in ways that are impossible to articulate, but just know; we love you for it. This means we are forced to cancel our scheduled shows with In This Moment in May as well as the headline shows planned. We hate to let you down a second time in just a few months, but unfortunately this is unavoidable. We know this is not good enough, and all of us deserve a proper send off for The Defiled. We are currently working out how to record some final songs for you, and if we can do a farewell tour before our Final Sleep. Until then... The Defiled 1888 - 2016" The band had been going through a quiet period, having last year shown a debate to whether they should release an EP or new album. We hope they do a farewell UK tour, for The Defiled well there is 'No Place Like Home'. That place? London, UK. Shock Industrial Metal band Fear Of Domination has released a new digi-single "Adrenaline". The single is a second taster from the upcoming album "Atlas". Adrenaline is available for example in Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon and YouTube (below). The vocalist and lyricist Saku Solin describes the song as a compilation from the theme, the atmosphere and the style of the album. “As a story Adrenaline is as pure Fear of Domination as possible. We are adrenaline-junkies, who love the feeling that the live shows bring.” Solin continues, that on the other hand, "Adrenaline" is a sad story from a character, for whom everything feels like nothing. “If you take a little peek behind the curtain, you can see a person, who has no colors, no taste or no hope in life. Therefore, he is unwillingly sucking them from the others, to get at least some of the golden adrenaline, to feel alive.” The lead-guitarist and the main composer Johannes Niemi says that Adrenaline fits musically in the theme of the album. “In all its gloominess it follows the theme of the end of the world, but there is a nice, lively and vivacious chorus melody.” Atlas is the fourth album of Fear of Domination. www.fod.fi https://www.facebook.com/FearOfDomination?fref=ts https://twitter.com/fod_finland It is with sad regret that we have to announce that Wayne Static, formerly of Static-X has passed away at the age of 48. Wayne's publicist confirmed this with Global Metal Apocalypse early this morning. He was always known for his spiked up hair (which took around 20 minutes to do) and his highly successful band Static-X, of whom had their song 'The Only' featured on the Need For Speed: Underground video game. After Static-X split, he pursued his own successful solo career; with a reformation of Static-X in 2012 however this was very short-lived (split in 2013). Wayne Static was confirmed earlier this week to tour with Drowning Pool and Powerman 5000 and over the next several months, their European stint was meant to take place at the following locations and dates: 1/8: Ekaterinburg, RUSSIA @ Tele Club 1/10: St Petersburg, RUSSIA @ Glav Club 1/11: Moscow, RUSSIA @ Glav Club 1/13: Norwich, ENGLAND @ Waterfront 1/14: Reading, ENGLAND @ Sub 89 1/15: Wolverhampton, ENGLAND @ Slade Rooms 1/16 Manchester, ENGLAND @ Club Academy 1/17 Glasgow, SCOTLAND @ Classic Grand 1/18: Newcastle, ENGLAND @ Riverside 1/19: Leeds, ENGLAND @ The Stylus 1/21: London, ENGLAND @ The Garage 1/22: Southampton, ENGLAND @ 1865 1/23: Brighton, ENGLAND @ Concorde 2 1/24: Plymouth, ENGLAND @ The Hub 1/25: Bristol, ENGLAND @ The Fleece Wayne Richard Wells (Wayne Static) is survived by his widow Tera Wray Cause of death has not been confirmed at this point, we will keep you all posted. So whilst Metallica have had the utmost joy in becoming the first band in the world to play on all seven continents, The Defiled however have found solace by becoming the first band in the world to perform on an iceberg. Before we turn our attention to the London industrialists, we at GMA would like to draw your attention to the band Arctic Spirits and their music video "Assiliarsuaq" which can be seen below. Arctic Spirits are one of the first ever metal bands from Greenland, yeah we bet Kerrang! and the like didn't tell you that! Right well back to The Defiled, so an iceberg was transformed into not quite exactly a 'gig venue' per se, more like the most literal open-air concert you'll ever see and this all took place in the Greenland Sea (all in aid of the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig, which if you like pits artists under jaw-dropping temperatures i.e. -30*C). Rocking out in temperatures to a number of locals from nearby Kulusuk (of which is near Kulusuk Airport and features direct flights to Reykjavik in Iceland), all of whom attended the gig in Amon Amarth fashion via standing and watching the band perform from an array of fishing boats and leisure craft. The Defiled's journey began with flying from London to Reykjavik (Iceland) and then got their connected flight to Kulusuk Airport, where they then traveled across ice and sea to their base on the neighbouring island of Tasiilaq (just over 2000 inhabitants). Before taking the challenge head on, front-man Stitch D, along with keyboardist The AvD, bassist Vincent Hyde and drummer Needles spent time mingling with local musicians and watching them perform their own traditional music, before inviting them and other residents to come and witness their unique one-off performance. The choice of set? 30 minutes of insane music taken from their latest album "Daggers" (Nuclear Blast) To thank the locals for making the gig happen, The Defiled donated their equipment to the local community hall, this happened upon hearing that the Kulusuk village music hall, and all of their equipment, had burnt down in a fierce winter storm. The donations included strings from Mapex and Blackstar, a donated drum kit and guitar amp to contribute to the rebuilding of the facilities. Stitch D admitted that this performance was one of the most insane they have ever done, adding that "you see these things on TV documentaries but it’s not until you get to see them in real life that you realise just how big and amazing icebergs are. Although it was cold, I don’t think any of us noticed once we got started as the stage location literally takes your breath away." He goes on to further add that: “As a group of mates we’ve shared some amazing experiences together but this has been an adventure that has bought us closer together and something that we all feel really privileged to have been part of. We’ve made a lot of friends during our short stay here and donated some music equipment to the local people, so we look forward to coming back one day and playing a joint gig out here next time – maybe the first ever gig with two bands playing on two icebergs at the same time!” In order to capture the gig and the breath-taking surroundings, the expedition team turned to the latest technology to film and photograph the gig – utilizing state-of-the-art ‘octocopter flying drone cameras’ to hover above and alongside the iceberg which are controlled remotely from the flotilla of boats nearby. Tom Carson, Jägermeister music manager, added: “As far as stage backdrops go, I don’t think you’ll find anything more impressive than this. We’re used to staging events at music venues and summer festivals, so it made for an interesting change to be checking ‘berg suitability’ as part of the pre-event checks as opposed to the typical band riders and sound systems." “We’ve worked with The Defiled for a number of years now as part of our Jägermusic programme and we’re extremely grateful to them for accepting the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig challenge and staging one of the most unique sets we’ve witnessed – we hope the locals of Kulusuk enjoyed it as much as we did.” View pictures of The Defiled taking on the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig Challenge here The Defiled tour dates: November

Gearing up to open the main stage at this weekend’s Sonisphere festival at Knebworth House (headlined by The Prodigy, Iron Maiden & Metallica), London metallers The Defiled have released the video for their latest single “Infected”. Featuring stunning 3D animation from the London based Smoke And Guns Productions, the video tells a twisted tale of epidemic infection, while the band rock out in a fire and stripper filled morgue. Stitch D explains that the band has "done performance videos, we’ve tried our hand at acting, and our last video did not even have us in it", naturally they wanted to do something unique and so what better way to achieve this than by using Lego, as he explains "With animation, anything is possible – if we want a helicopter, no problem, if we want a massive machine gun mounted on a jeep, ditto". Of course he is disappointed that the real thing did not happen, no strippers nor pyrotechnics. Keyboardist The AvD adds: "Fuck yeah! Suicide, murder, disease, fire, helicopters, machine guns, strippers and lego – this has got it all". Regarding Aaron Curse's departure (as seen in the video), he admits that the band "are sad to see him go, but you can’t fuck with fate. He is probably down there in hell right now, creeping out Satan and his minions. He will be missed". The recordings will take place in Studio Bohus with Roberto Laghi who will co-produce the album together with 'Nightmare Industries'. Cat Casino had left the band for other ventures and naturally "Night Electric Night" is the only album he is featured on, meaning Deathstars have now reverted back to their original four-piece setup. Lead vocalist Whiplasher Bernadotte shares his thoughts on the forthcoming full-length: 'Deathstars is an adventure for us. It’s as if it is a phenomenon of it’s own, and our forum for destruction, glitter and darkness. We are very excited about the new material and every time we hit the studio we never know what the outcome will be, i mean we have a general idea but we’re never a 100% sure how the final result will be until we’re done and can sit back and listen to it'. This UK tour will be a showcase of everything Deathstars have achieved as a band so far, and also support their newly released material! Today, VampireFreaks.com is unleashing the band’s brand new lyric video for the track ‘Some People’. Check it out now at this location. Main instrumentalist and producer h3 explains the meaning behind the track, stating, “‘Some People’ is a song about pacified people who want be told what to think and want to believe what they're told. It's a warning to make sure those same people know to stay away from me." h3 is the primary backbone of hERETICS iN tHE lAB on "Suture". Although the band performs live with additional members M1 (keys), tB (drums), kV (guitars), h3 creates all that is hERETICS iN tHE lAB, not unlike many of industrial’s greatest musical minds. Drawing comparisons to Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Bile and Marilyn Manson, hERETICS iN tHE lAB has established themselves in the underground goth / industrial scene as a force to be reckoned with while still managing to appeal to more mainstream fans of heavy metal and rock. Known for the shear emotional intensity of their live shows as well as their erratic unpredictable song structures hERETICS iN tHE lAB consistently challenges unprepared audiences and leaves them awe-inspired. Born from social loathing, an evolved conscious, and experimentation in sonic terrorism, Virginia-natives hERETICS iN tHE lAB take elements of industrial music, fine art, post-apocalyptic rock and roll, and avant-garde sound-scapes to form an incredibly intense hard-line industrial music experience drenched in ego and libido. The band has a static video out now for their first single ‘Skin’, available for viewing here. The band will perform at a few local tour dates in the come months. See below for all dates, including the CD release party for "Suture". Upcoming hERETICS iN tHE lAB tour dates: 10/25 Washington, DC @ Phase 1 Dupont – Bound Festival 10/31 Virginia Beach, VA @ The Jewish Mother Hilltop w/ Deist Requiem & Pillbuster 11/12 Norfolk, VA @ The Wave ***CD Release Party*** www.facebook.com/hERETICSiNtHElAB. |
