Finnish modern melodic death metal band Volucrine are set to release their fifth album via Inverse Records later in 2026. The first single, 'Golem', is released today, and its music video is available here: https://youtu.be/bb9rVOdwLwo The band's mastermind Jupe Velin comments: "After the great volcano erupted, the world was left barren and empty. The earth was covered in petrified magma and the air was heavy with ash. As if by a miracle, however, something in the grey mist moved. The boulders and cobblestones rattled and grinded as they piled up on top of each other. They climbed towards the sky, slowly twisting into a spine. The wind helped the sand draw its expression, the clay bound its limbs together. Assembled from the fragments of a bygone world, its cold shell began to resemble a human, but one without a purpose. Even though it didn’t know which way to go, two things were certain: It had a melting heart and a burning desire to live. As a composition, 'Golem' was built up from the, perhaps even a little bit folk-inspired, guitar melody heard in the chorus. When you add Volucrine’s typical riff texture and a crushing verse, the result is a surgical strike in song form that can be proudly presented as the first single from the upcoming album. The lyrics are addressed to those who sometimes feel that life takes away more than it gives. I would like to remind them that navigating through a void without a view requires guts and strength of character. Even there, you might find new life." Finnish melodic death metal band Superdeathflame returns with melodic metal anthem "Crown Of Stars". The song is about the lone survivor of an intelligent species standing beneath an infinite, starry sky. Clean and growling vocals ride harmonized guitars, driving double‑bass drumming, and a bridge that swells into an anthemic, melodic chorus. This song is about cosmic solitude, defiant resolve, and bittersweet hope. Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon, Bandcamp etc.): https://push.fm/fl/sdf-crownofstars From southern Finland's grey landscapes rises Superdeathflame, the Style-Masters-of-Metal ready to conquer the world with our mature and melodic music that catches the ear. Founded in 2007 and released two full length albums and a batch of singles and EP. Their songs are made for listener, no bullshit. The songs are hard, every piece tells a real story of life. The foundation, the Four Pillars of our Metal are Rock-solid guitar riffs and punchy drumbeats coloured with flowing synths and world class choruses that are infectiously catchy. Superdeathflame is building their music with an increasingly determined focus to make every song sound simple and easy to a listener. Not forgetting multidimensional interpretation in the lyrics, that gives the depth to the songs. https://www.facebook.com/superdeathflame/ https://www.instagram.com/superdeathflame/ Ahead of their next quest - an extensive tour throughout USA and Canada with support coming from Ov Sulfur and Atlas - Orbit Culture have released a live video for the fan favourite 'The Storm'. The video was filmed by Riivata Visuals and Grimvisions during their highly successful European tour last winter. Watch 'The Storm live' here: https://youtu.be/KQJY-8logFQ The band comment: “This video for 'The Storm' documents our last headline tour. Most of the footage was shot in Gothenburg, close to where we come from. Watching it now brings us back to a night that carried real weight — intense, focused, and honest. It was a defining moment for us, and The Storm reflects that feeling without needing to explain it.” It is another video for their acclaimed album Death Above Life that was released to overwhelmingly positive feedback by fans and media in October of last year. "The album represents change, a new beginning," says guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Niklas Karlsson. "It brings up a lot of good and bad emotions but it’s a big change for the better. It feels like a rebirth." This autumn Orbit Culture will join THE ALLFATHER AWAKENS TOUR across Europe, with Amon Amarth and Soilwork. With a sound rooted in mythology and shaped by dynamic song writing, Northborn are currently working on their debut album, now in full production, marking the beginning of a new chapter with Art Gates Records. The band comments on the signing: “It is a huge honour to become a part of the Art Gates Records family! They want quality, and we’ll make sure to meet and surpass that requirement. This joint journey will be the beginning of something huge, and we couldn’t be more grateful that the AGR team will be by our side when it all begins! Prepare for the darkened frost storms that will embrace you all…” Iván Magdalena (CEO of Art Gates Records) adds: “We’re excited to start this new chapter with Northborn. Their blend of melodic death metal and epic symphonic elements perfectly represents the intensity and vision we look for at Art Gates Records. This partnership is about pushing their sound further and bringing it to a wider audience.” More details about Northborn’s upcoming debut album will be revealed soon. www.artgatesrecords.com The Finnish melodic death / black metal band Se, Josta Ei Puhuta are set to release their new album, "Syvyyden Portit On Saatava Auki", on 29 May 2026 via Inverse Records. The first single 'Kuolemaa Ei Ole', accompanied by a music video, is released today and can be seen here: https://youtu.be/T7tHrBma1YU The band comments: "Kuolemaa ei ole is a declaration of rebirth and the fracture of consciousness. That which remains unspoken opens a gateway to unseen realms, where the end is not an ending but a transition. The song simmers beneath the surface, shifting in intensity as if an ancient force were awakening within a body long believed to be dead. Interwoven guitar harmonies guide the listener from one layer to another, creating a tense yet unexpectedly warm atmosphere. Resurrection does not occur through light, but through darkness, where the old self is abandoned and a new form is born. For this reason, Kuolemaa ei ole is a natural choice as the album’s first release. It is a beginning, but also a reminder of eternity. The song functions as a ritual in which the concept of death is stripped of its meaning. What remains is movement, continuation, and an endless cycle. We have seen the light, we have risen from the dead, this eternity is but a blink of an eye in the vastness of eternities." The concept of Mývalyĭr was developed over long-distance lockdown conversations between isolated musicians, before the band’s identity fully coalesced in 2023. While Mývalyĭr is a new entity, those gathered beneath its banner all have previous recording and touring experience, with drummer Stephen Wilkinson having played with the likes of One Machine, Dragged Into Sunlight and Blood Countess among many others. In 2025, the band unleashed two thunderous singles, each accompanied with their own impactful video, showcasing glimpses of melodic death metal with folk flavours and an enthralling narrative that was to come. And now it is time for the full length debut from this genuinely exciting band…it is time for a momentous album that explores the concepts of eternal struggle, fortitude and transformation, set to a soundtrack of dramatic, dynamic metal. It is time for "The Past Tales". The opening introductory piece that is ‘Requiem’ plucks us from our reality and casts us into the storm-tossed darkness of Mývalyĭr’s world. It’s a place of sinister shadows, menace and fear, but also courage and nobility of spirit. The exhilarating, intricate, melodic guitar work of ‘Reign’ is as vital to the enveloping atmosphere of The Past Tales as the crushing, heavyweight force of ‘The Mighty Never Fall’. The towering edifice of ‘The Past Tales Part 1’ brings together so much of what Mývalyĭr have to offer in a staggering epic of shifting moods and many facets, with the extraordinary emotion of ‘The Past Tales Part 2’ completing it in quite breath taking fashion. This is the kind of album that you lose yourself in for its duration, consumed by the valour and tragedy, the deep shades of melancholy and hard-won triumphs. When the majestic ‘Renascence’ leads you back into the light it’s like waking from a dream – a dream that you’ll want to find your way back to, again and again. By calling on the services of Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Sigh etc), Kevin Hare (Blasphemer, Solar Sons etc) and by Janne Lunnas (Boreal Grave, Shade Of Sorrow etc) for different recording, mixing and mastering roles, Mývalyĭr were able to capture the strength, depth, textures and layers that they were looking for, bringing The Past Tales to life in all it’s dark and terrible glory. With stunning cover artwork created by Felipe Machado Franco (Blind Guardian, Iced Earth etc) every aspect of The Past Tales is exactly as it needs to be. On February 27th you will be invited to join the struggle – be ready when the call comes.
