Crossfaith are thrilled to announce their brand new EP SPECIES, out on May 22nd through UNFD. The five-track offering features recent single, "Endorphin," as well as today's new track "Digital Parasite."
The opening track "Digital Parasite" sees the band getting "dirty and heavy. I felt an explosion from the song and I knew the lyrics should be aggressive and offensive," starts vocalist Kenta Koie as the band look at "people selling their soul to get fame. We need to be honest to the music, to ourselves and to our audience but some people are happy to start cheating and I don't care for it."
"Playing heavy music is how I feel alive. We want Crossfaith to be the band making music that no one has ever heard before." And from the opening battle cry of "Digital Parasite" through the unifying anthem of "Truth of Insanity" to "Your Song"'s glitching sorrow, their SPECIES EP sees them breaking new ground.
The industrial rave of "Endorphin"is about finding yourself in a world that makes you doubt everything and champions the idea of facing those questions head on while "Truth of Insanity" is a call to arms. "In Japan, there are so many contradictions from the government. There will always be a minority of people who only think about themselves but we can fight. We can think. This song is a trigger to start a war against the world of contradiction."
Crossfaith have a history of working with their peers, Enter Shikari, Beartooth and Ho99o9 have all appeared on previous releases, but there are more new adventures to be had on SPECIES EP'. "None of Your Business"sees them team up with Jin Dogg, a rapper from their home town of Osaka for an explosive meeting of minds. "That song's about straight up anger. So many people are fuelled by jealousy and I know the most important thing is to push forward but those people bother me, so this song is about telling them to shut their fucking mouth. It's very straight forward," he grins. "Plus you can learn Japanese from Jin Dogg's verse."
The closing track on the EP is "Your Song." No, not an Elton John cover but "the most emotional Crossfaith song of all time. It's about the emptiness and sorrow of a time that will not return," whether that's death or the loss of a friendship or a lover. "It's about farewell. I feel sadness but those emotions make me strong and teach me to not take things for granted. It's not a ballad but it is a very beautiful song. I think people will be surprised by it."
And surprising people is exactly what Crossfaith want to do, even after eleven years of making music. "That's the main role of the band," promises Ken. "I hope," he continues before deciding on a more forceful word, "Actually, I believe this EP will set the course for the band for the next ten years. We've already started making more new music. We're not going to stop."

ARIA-certified Australian metalcore trailblazers The Amity Affliction have just dropped the video for "Forever." Watch it here.
The song appears on the band's album Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them which is out today and is the band’s Pure Noise Records debut.
"'Forever' is a song about the dueling internal narrative while in the depths of a depressive episode," says singer Joel Birch. "On the one hand, love and support, on the other hand, thoughts of suicide, while also grappling with the follow on effect it would have. I made a promise to myself to make it to my son’s eighteenth birthday when he was three, and I intend to keep it. Hopefully by then I will have figured out how to properly cope with what is likely a lifelong battle with bipolar II."
The Amity Affliction — Joel Birch [vocals], Ahren Stringer [vocals, bass], Dan Brown [lead guitar], and Jon Longobardi [drums] — previously released the video for "Soak Me In Bleach." Watch it here. The band also premiered the new song "Catatonia" over at Loudwire. Listen here. Prior to that, the band roared out of the gates with "All My Friends Are Dead."
"This album is a result of our re-found love for heavy music," The Amity Affliction said upon announcing the record. "We wanted to make a heavier album to back up our most recent releases to let our fans know that we understand what the majority want to hear from us. We have experimented creatively over the years and are now able to apply what we’ve learnt to what we consider the perfect blend of Amity new and old."
Since emerging in 2008 on the debut Severed Ties, The Amity Affliction have served up two ARIA gold-certified albums, Youngbloods and Chasing Ghosts , and earned a platinum certification from ARIA for the seminal Let the Ocean Take Me . This Could Be Heartbreak marked the band's second consecutive Top 30 debut on the Billboard Top 200, while Misery elevated them to new critical heights with praise from Medium, Alternative Press, The Noise, and more. To date, the group's total stream tally has surpassed 200 million and counting. Meanwhile, The Amity Affliction sold out countless headline shows and toured alongside many genre heavyweights. During 2019, the musicians returned to Beltsville, MD to record their Pure Noise Records debut, Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them, alongside Misery producer Matt Squire.
The Italian Gothic Metalcore band Levania is glad to reveal the new video for “Reflections”, the second single taken from their last EP “Episode 0” released via Sliptrick Records.
Watch "Reflections" now: https://youtu.be/QPukuk5f8J0
The video has been produced by the directors Simone Furia and Michelangelo Ingrosso.
The singer Elena Taby, comments:
“Today, we all live in a sick society, we are losing sincerity, human relationships and empathy. Humanity is regressing to "homo homini lupus", but we have the opportunity to reverse this process with culture and art. In every single action we do we have a chance, leaving the instinct that leads us to the fear of the unknown or, thanks to art in all its forms, trying not to regress to a primitive status.
We tried to include all these concepts in our new work, representing them as much as possible with colours and vibrations.”

Levania, the gothic metalcore group from Italy, have released an official video for the track Reflections, taken from their recent mini-EP Episode 0 released via Sliptrick Records on August 2nd 2019. Here’s what the band had to say about their latest track:-
“We’re very proud to announce our latest video for the track Reflections. We started a journey with the EP Episode 0 (where the track is taken from) and Reflections represents the thousands of idiosyncrasies that affected our lifestyle. Today we live in a sick society. We are losing sincerity, human relations and empathy. Humanity is regressing to a “homo homini lupus” level but, we have got a chance to invert this process with …education! In every single action we make we have a possibility; allow the instinct that leads to the fear of the unknown or, thanks to education, trying not to regress in ourselves to beasts.
We tried to put everything into our newest video/work with as much colour and vibes as possible.”
The EP opens up with Abyss, a song that addresses the issue of depression, analysing how one can become slaves to one’s demons. Abyss also addresses the issue of moral hazard, when one has to choose how to deal with discomfort. This is followed with Reflections which talks about the all-Italian problem of functional illiteracy. Man is a social animal but if he is not educated, he will remain an animal moved by primitive instincts. In this society appearance is more important than education, and this is leading to an involution of the species.
Episode 0 closes with Reckoning, an instrumental outro, both alluring and seductive. Read more about Episode 0 …here

ARIA-certified Australian metalcore trailblazers The Amity Affliction have released new song 'Catatonia.' The song is taken of their new album Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them. The album arrives 21st February and will be the band’s Pure Noise Records debut. It's available for pre-order here.

Bassist Ahren Stringer says that:-
"If you listen carefully, you’ll hear this is a sister track to 'All My Friends Are Dead; we wrote it to bookend the album and keep it heavy fuckin' metal. Lyrically, I think it ties the whole theme of the album together and wraps up what Joel [Birch] is trying to get across. Even though everything might seem perfect from the outside, sometimes being broken on the inside can never truly be fixed."
The Amity Affliction — Joel Birch [vocals], Ahren Stringer [vocals, bass], Dan Brown [lead guitar], and Jon Longobardi [drums] — previously released the video for "Soak Me In Bleach." Watch it here.
Prior to that, the band dropped "All My Friends Are Dead."
Both tracks represent some of the heaviest, most memorable material and the most relatable lyrics of the band's deeply personal catalog. As always, The Amity Affliction hold nothing back, allowing fans to get closer than ever on Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them.

Since their formation nearly half a decade ago, Arkansas based Levels have endeavoured to mix elements of technical metal and djent with metalcore and hardcore to create their own brand of heavy music. With "Encapsulate", their follow up to 2019's "Fade", the band has found a new and more focused sound that sets them apart from their peers in the younger heavy music scene. Reminiscent of Veil of Maya, Architects, and Volumes mixed with shades of classic hardcore, "Encapsulate" is a fresh look at the synthesis of djent and -core that succeeds as both a mosh anthem and a catchy a*s song.
Guest vocalist Josh Stewart channels anguish and anger with his clean vocals, complimenting the heavier elements of the track tastefully rather than as a throwaway feature. Producer Jeff Dunne (Motionless In White, Emmure, Fit For A King) brings out the best from each member of the band, with a highly refined but nonetheless intimate production style that captures each individual performance beautifully while making the entire song sound cohesive and absolutely huge.
“'Encapsulate’ is about a struggle with anxiety. It explains the thought process one might go through when they try their hardest to be the best they can be, but question if that is good enough. It questions whether or not we are just wasting our efforts...like it's all for nothing...if in the end we are always going to be exactly who we were meant to be"
The video, produced and edited by the bands drummer Dalton Kennerly, channels the groups volatile live energy in a beautifully captured black & white performance.

You've probably heard of metalcore, but how about Cob-Core? Canadian quintet As The Structure Fails turn the cornfield into a moshpit in their latest music video for their new single "The Surface." Led by dual vocalists and brothers Kyle and Carter Laird, the technical and melodic track delivers a certain level of chaos to compliment the lightheartedness of the video.
"We decided to take a jump outside the standard heavy music videos we tend to see, to create something outside of the box," says vocalist Kyle Laird. "We feel like this video truly is one-of-a-kind, reflecting our own lives of living in small towns and working on farms. We hope people see the humour in it."

In the video, the band can be seen hardcore dancing in the hay, playing some pretty unconventional instruments, and getting squeaky clean in a makeshift tractor tub before they go on to completely dismantle the farm.
Directed by The Trenches
As The Structure Fails originally formed in 2009, but it wasn't until 2015 that the Ontario group solidified their line-up. The band barely got off the ground before drummer Kyle Clarke underwent multiple brain surgeries for a life-threatening diagnosis called Arteriovenous Malformation. Luckily, he made a full recovery and the group released their self-titled full-length in 2018. Topics of the album focus on damaged relationships, addiction, and the immoral habits of our culture. The band brings forward the idea that society, although corrupt, can change. They believe one person or one action everyday has the potential to bring a light into this sometimes dark world.

Sydney ascending metalcore outfit Polaris recently announced their highly anticipated sophomore album The Death Of Me, due to be released on 21st February 2020 via SharpTone Records. Today the five-piece are pleased to reveal their first album trailer, and also launch all album pre-orders!

All pre-orders for The Death Of Me are now available here: https://www.shrptn.co/polaris
When it came time to make their new album, The Death Of Me, the Sydney outfit knew they had a tall order on their hands.
Drummer Daniel Furnari states:-
“We wanted to walk a line between maintaining what’s defined our band and brought people to our music in the first place, while trying to write for ourselves and keep ourselves interested. Being our second full-length, we knew it was important for us to surprise the listener as well - nobody wants to hear the same record twice. We wanted to give them things they wouldn’t expect, take them to new places, but also for it to be definitively a Polaris record, building on what we’ve been working towards.”
Polaris returned to the house in the small Australian South Coast town of Mollymook where they made The Mortal Coil, converting it into a temporary studio. The familiar surrounds acted as something of a refuge after the high-pressure claustrophobia of touring. Accompanying the band was their front of house sound engineer, Lance Prenc, and long-time friend Scott Simpson (of Melbourne band Alpha Wolf), both of whom co-produced the album with the band. They tried a few new approaches to song writing, with tracks such as the anthemic first single, Masochist starting life as a vocal melody, around which the riffs were built, as opposed to the other way around.
In the two years since The Mortal Coil, Polaris have embarked on three sold-out headlining tours of Australia, as well as supporting Architects and Parkway Drive around the country; five runs throughout Europe (including a series of arena shows supporting Architects and a slew of high-profile summer festival spots); three separate US tours; not to mention performing at Download Festival in Australia. Somewhere in there, the quintet found time to write The Death Of Me.
Polaris announced a UK headline tour last week, in May 2020 with support from label mates Currents and Alpha Wolf, plus Varials. Tickets are on sale now!

The Death Of Me is set to arrive two years since Polaris released their ARIA-nominated, Australian top 10 debut The Mortal Coil which introduced the group to legions of fans around the country and, thanks to an extensive international touring schedule, the world.

The Luminary Plot is one of the newest bands to come from Calgary, Canada and they are hitting the ground running with the upcoming release of their self-produced debut EP entitled "We Are The Luminary Plot" due early 2020.
Their debut single "We" is an excellent introduction to this new, original metalcore band. Aggressive and frenetic, The Luminary Plot is hoping their first offering will be well received by listeners, as they explain:
“We are hoping this song leaves listeners hungry for more. With “We”, the band comes out swinging with aggressive, driving instrumentals and swing back and forth into a more floaty feeling chorus, there is plenty to keep people engaged and hopefully show that we do not intend to be a one-dimensional band!”
The Luminary Plot rose from the ashes of another band that guitarists Jesse Kopala and Kade Wolfe were in, and the end of that project gave them the time and determination to start something with a different focus, moving from a melodic death/metalcore to a dynamic, post-hardcore inspired sound. Bringing a tight and crushing live show to the audience is of utmost importance to the band and they are looking forward to sharing their brutal and beautiful music with fans around the world.
The Luminary Plot is suggested for fans of Norma Jean, Dead and Divine, and Darkest Hour.
Southwest Sydney metalcore five-piece Harroway have blasted on the scene and teamed up with masters of their craft at Graphics Nature Audio (The Amity Affliction, Knocked Loose, Counterparts, Thy Art Is Murder) with their debut single "Shine" flaunting intricate guitar work, huge heavy vocals and catchy cleans.
The track itself was recorded in Belleville, New Jersey at legendary Graphics Nature Audio with production and engineering by Sonny Truelove with the mix and master by Will Putney. "Shine" explores the light and shade up against the brutal raw vocals that form the backbone of the track with melodic instrumentation that weaves its way throughout.
The single is essentially a reminder for vocalist Matt Banks and to listeners not to give up on passions and aspirations no matter how hard life gets. Banks explains the writing process in saying that:-
"Over the course of the writing process riffs and structures changed, and so did my mood, so the verse became an outlet for the dark personal things I was dealing with at the time - which was basically feelings of not being good enough."
"Keeping the original intentions for the song in mind, I reflected back on all the positive words of encouragement I had received over the years while trying to follow my dreams which I summed up into the lyrics: ‘But I remember something you said, never forget the reason your heart beats in your chest. Keep the fire inside. We’re all born to shine’.
The single comes accompanied with a music video directed and conceptualised by music cinematography legend Third Eye Visuals (Parkway Drive, Gravemind, In Hearts Wake). The film features the band playing through their single within a colourful kaleidoscope that transitions along with the music, creating for a captivating watch and an addictive listen.
Harroway consists of former members of Maybe I’ll Live Forever, Isotopes and Like Royals with Matt Banks on vocals, Marcus Cunich on guitar and vocals, Alex Maybury on guitar, Jordan Sheriff on bass and Jesse Gallagher on drums. The band has arrived just in time to take their place among Australia's best and heaviest, representing Australia's thriving and ever-growing heavy music scene.
