You've probably heard of metalcore, but how about Cob-Core? Canadian quintet As The Structure Fails turn the cornfield into a moshpit in their latest music video for their new single "The Surface." Led by dual vocalists and brothers Kyle and Carter Laird, the technical and melodic track delivers a certain level of chaos to compliment the lightheartedness of the video.
"We decided to take a jump outside the standard heavy music videos we tend to see, to create something outside of the box," says vocalist Kyle Laird. "We feel like this video truly is one-of-a-kind, reflecting our own lives of living in small towns and working on farms. We hope people see the humour in it."

In the video, the band can be seen hardcore dancing in the hay, playing some pretty unconventional instruments, and getting squeaky clean in a makeshift tractor tub before they go on to completely dismantle the farm.

As The Structure Fails originally formed in 2009, but it wasn't until 2015 that the Ontario group solidified their line-up. The band barely got off the ground before drummer Kyle Clarke underwent multiple brain surgeries for a life-threatening diagnosis called Arteriovenous Malformation. Luckily, he made a full recovery and the group released their self-titled full-length in 2018. Topics of the album focus on damaged relationships, addiction, and the immoral habits of our culture. The band brings forward the idea that society, although corrupt, can change. They believe one person or one action everyday has the potential to bring a light into this sometimes dark world.

Copenhagen's rising death doom outfit, Konvent, is set to release their highly anticipated debut album, Puritan Masochism, on January 24 via Napalm Records. Only a few days ahead of its official release, the band has just premiered another brutal-sounding appetizer with a brand new video!
The Danish collective, founded in 2015, stoically trudges through the blackest mires – following in the footsteps of Mythic, Paradise Lost, Skepticism and Winter, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s. Rikke Emilie List`s guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make the debut by these four Danish women a massive, extreme metal highlight of early 2020 – and it would not come as a surprise if their upcoming album, Puritan Masochism, conjures up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre!
Following the premiere of the band's latest music video to the album title track (watch HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdR24AURUwU), today we witness a final single before the album drops later this month. Better get doomed and fix your eyes on Konvent's brand new video for the blistering track 'Ropes pt. II' : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBkwHWoKQKA
The band comments:-
“Ropes pt. II was the last song we wrote for the album. Our deadline was getting closer and we isolated ourselves in our rehearsal space during the weekend before going into the studio. We spent hours jamming to the main riff while the Danish Summer sun was baking outside, and in the end we managed to complete the song.
It was actually inspired by our other song Ropes pt. I which, at that time, didn't have a title. Ropes pt. I is about knowing someone who is going through a bad time and the powerlessness that comes with it. We thought it could be interesting to write a song from the other person‘s point of view and connect the songs and their protagonists. We chose to incorporate ropes in the titles because in these situations they can be a mean of help to climb out of the darkness or a means of suicide; we leave it up to the listener‘s imagination.
Regarding the video, we were all quite tired of the same old “metal music video recipe”. Actually, we didn't really care for being in the video ourselves but found it way more interesting to play with smoke, lights and shadows. We got in touch with photographer Nicky de Silva via a common friend and he was very interested in diving into a darker side of the arts. We had a meeting with him and our visions clicked. He found the models for the video as well and we couldn't be happier with the result!“

The official video for “Looking For You" aesthetically mirrors the conflict between memories, desires and leaving your ancient life behind. Monumental melodic vocal lines that remind of the Swedish pop giants ABBA pair with strong keyboard-driven, 80’s pop influenced sounds and merge with heavy drums and guitar riffs into an impressive genre-fluid creation. This addictive mix can only be described as follows – Finnish ABBA-Metal at its finest! Amberian Dawn developed their style and spiced it up by entering and creating a new musical universe.
”This is the Crown Jewel of the album. This song is exactly what so-called ABBA-Metal is all about. Haunting and dramatic keyboards, strong melodies and tons of vocal tracks. I worked closely with Finnish synthesizer artist Kebu to achieve this wonderful vintage keyboard sound. I let myself go into world of 80’s synthesizer music and then my band mates helped me to arrange the song into an Amberian Dawn-song.“

Transcendent, two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning rock band, Evanescence, has released the official music video for their first new rock recording in eight years, “The Chain (From Gears 5).” Directed by frequent collaborator, P.R. Brown (My Chemical Romance, John Mayer, Green Day), the piece blends powerful, epic performance visuals with footage from the launch trailer for Xbox Game Studios’ Gears 5 from the massively popular Gears of War franchise. To emulate the aesthetic of Gears 5, a miniature set was constructed for the music video that parallels the dystopian environment of the game. Watch it HERE, and listen to the song on all digital streaming platforms HERE.
“The lyrics make me feel the power of standing together against great forces trying to pull us apart, perhaps even from the inside. I really wanted to drive that home in our version,” lead singer Amy Lee elaborates.
P.R. Brown adds:- “The goal of the video is to show the bond of this band as they deliver a powerful take on a classic song. The tie in with Gears 5 presented an opportunity to combine the game world together with the band performance in a post-apocalyptic setting. The band emerges from the ashes to come together. We wanted to bring these worlds together and feel both the force of the band and the game.”
Evanescence unveiled their signature-rock version of the Fleetwood Mac classic in November, after Lee had lent her vocals to the Gears 5 launch trailer. The spot aired as part of a multi-million-dollar ad campaign in the fall in conjunction with the launch of the game. Watch it HERE. In addition, Gears 5 set new records as the biggest launch for any Xbox Game Studios game in this generation.
“The Chain” marks the first release in what is expected to be a very active period for Evanescence. Following their foray into symphonic music with 2017’s critically acclaimed Synthesis album and world tour, the five-piece re-emerged by embracing a heavier sound, albeit with their trademark style that has made Evanescence integral in establishing a global, critical mass in rock, and among the most unique artists of the millennium. The band is currently working on new original music, which will start rolling out in 2020 in advance of their highly-anticipated fifth full-length studio album. Stay tuned for more details to come.
Published by Xbox Game Studios, Gears of War is one of gaming's most-acclaimed sagas. Launched in 2006 as the killer-app for the first HD generation of game consoles, Gears has become a billion-dollar franchise, inspiring an expanded universe of books and graphic novels, a full line of toys and collectibles and video games across many genres and platforms. “Gears 5,” named as “one of the best games in the Xbox One era” (DualShockers), is now available in Xbox Game Pass for PC and console. “Gears POP!,” which brings together iconic Gears characters in a cute Funko POP! style is now available for iOS, Android, and Windows 10. And “Gears Tactics,” a turn-based tactics game that combines fast-paced brutal action and character-driven storytelling, is coming soon for PC.

British doom legends My Dying Bride release the official video for 'Your Broken Shore' today. The track is taken from the upcoming album The Ghost Of Orion, which will be out on 6th March. Watch and listen to 'Your Broken Shore' here: youtu.be/F1DI7447ia0
Singer Aaron Stainthorpe comments:-
"The first song from My Dying Bride for five years comes laced with passion, power and their unyielding desire to create the most thoughtful and heavy music possible. ‘Your Broken Shore’ is recognisably theirs despite an evolution spanning 30 years, it’s new and fresh but with unmistakable provenance and production surpassing anything they have previously released. This track represents just a taster of things to come as the new LP “The Ghost of Orion” is upon the horizon containing seven further compositions of deliciously crushing gothic doom/death metal."
The Ghost Of Orion will be available on CD, black 2LP Gatefold, white 2LP Gatefold, red 2LP Gatefold and picture disc 2LP Gatefold. Pre-order here: nblast.de/TheGhostOfOrion
My Dying Bride’s three decades of misery almost came to an end several years ago. Following 2015’s universally lauded Feel the Misery album, vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe’s daughter, just five years old at the time, was diagnosed with cancer.
Shocked and heartbroken, Stainthorpe put all band activities on hold while he, his immediate family, and My Dying Bride put their collective energies into eradicating what Stainthorpe called, “the cruellest of God's bitter and loveless creations.” The high hurdles, however, didn’t stop with cancer. In 2018, returning original member and guitarist Calvin Robertshaw texted his departure, effective immediately.
No reason was given or explanation provided to anyone. Then, just as My Dying Bride had regrouped after positive news that his daughter was effectively cancer free, returning drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels departed right before the band were slated to enter Mark Mynett’s studio, Mynetaur Productions. Down two members but feeling right as rain, My Dying Bride moved on, mastered the doldrums, recording magnificent new album, The Ghost of Orion, to the joyful tears of fans across the globe, in the process.

This is the band’s first full video feature and the track is also available on all digital streaming platforms HERE.
On the song and upcoming video for “Drowning”, frontman Brendan Preston comments:-
“Drowning is basically about my terrible mental state. It’s about Depression and the feeling of constantly being dragged below the surface and rising again, only to be hit by another wave. It's relentless. It’s just life for anyone, but made much harder when you’re suffering from a mental illness. I think a lot of people can relate and connect to the song and that’s why we’ve decided to do this as our first video clip for the “Misery Season” album.”

Strongly influenced by bands such as Fear Factory, Chimaira and Sepultura, the essence of what metal really means is expressed sonically through the crushing riffs, solid drums and ballsy bass, while being dynamically shaped with electronic keys and audio samples.
All This Filth, or otherwise known as ATF spent much of 2018 writing and recording their sophomore album “Misery Season”. Recorded over several months from June – November 2018, the band pushed themselves to complete the momentous task and are ready to hit the road to prepare everyone for what is to come!
