Russian Pagan Metallers Intothecrypt stream Ordo MCM debut via "Legacy" magazine's website

Russian pagan metallers Intothecrypt stream the entirety of their striking debut album, Vakor, at Legacy magazine's website. Set for international release on June 21st via Ordo MCM, hear Intothecrypt's Vakor in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Although an otherwise-new name, having been formed in 2016 as a studio project, Intothecrypt feature members of Russian cult band Scald: guitarist Ivan "Harald" Sergeev, bassist/vocalist Ilia "Velingor" Timashev, and drummer Aleksand “Ottar” Kudryashov, all of whom also played in Russian folk metal band Tumulus. The main goal of Intothecrypt is to create dark, extreme music which includes elements of Scald, Bathory, old-school doom/death, black metal, and Northern folk music. So, one could understand Intothecrypt as an extension of where Scald could've gone but also a separate entity unto itself.

Uniquely, Intothecrypt's lyrics are based on a peculiar combination of Slavic and Finno-Ugric mythologies which emerged in the North and North East regions of Ancient Rus when Slavs settled there and made contact with Finno-Ugrians and their culture. The songs are written from the viewpoint of a shaman who lived at a crossroads of cultures and combined both Slavic and Finno-Ugric believes and magical practices. Some of Intothecrypt's lyrics are in English; the rest of them are based on Ancient Russian grammar, with the use of Ancient Russian, Finno-Ugric and Russian dialectal vocabulary. A significant contribution to the music of Intothecrypt was made by Gervald (project KI.EN.GI) and other guest musicians.

In 2017, Intothecrypt created a four-song demo. A year later, the band finished their debut album, Vakor. Epic and expansive, Vakor creates a colourful canvas during its hour-long duration, with its kaleidoscopic landscape taking in pagan metal, folk, prog, traditional black/death, and of course that magical touch of Scald and their pagan-era forebears Bathory. Each of the album's ten main songs weaves a fantastical spell that immediately penetrates the soul and stirs the imagination. At once, Intothecrypt is emblematic of Russia's reigning pagan metal paradigm and defiant of it, creating a tapestry of glory entirely their own.

Apart from the main members of Intothecrypt – Harald, Velingor, and Ottar – the following musicians took part in recording this album: Gervald on sound effects, percussion, and backing vocals and Marina Sokolova of Sedmaya Voda on vocals, altogether making for a truly unique and collaborative experience. Completed by Andrey Andreev’s cover artwork, Intothecrypt's Vakor is a timeless tale of past, present, and perhaps future!

A few weeks after the official release of the effort, Swiss Pagan / Folk metal band NORVHAR just shared their whole 'KAUNA' EP for full-stream on YouTube thanks to the courtesy on the Unknown Melodeath Channel.

In other news, both CD & Digital editions are still available on Bandcamp and the legal streaming services.

Stream the 'KAUNA' EP on YouTube | Order your digital / physical copy on Bandcamp

..For the record...

Formed in 2016 from the ashes of the band Harmoniks, NORVHAR is oriented towards pagan / folk / epic metal. It consists of six skilled musicians, all of them with stage experiences.

Those six friends offer a music which is inspired, epic, melodic, but which also makes you want to drink beers until the end of times. Vastly inspired by Tolkien’s universe, but also by Nordic mythology, the texts are dense and deep, filled with adventures and battles, with mystical tales and latent alcoholism.

The folk melodies, sometimes played on the keyboard, sometime on the flute or on acoustic instruments, intermingle with powerful and sharp guitars, all punctuated by intense bass and battle-like drums.

The vocals, straight out of the plains of Valhalla are calling the warriors to battle by their unquenchable fire. NORVHAR is going to release an album at the beginning of 2019.

Latvian Pagan Metal vets Skyforger release 'Nothing Is Forgotten' video; dedicates it to the centenary of Latvian independence

21/11/2018

Picture

Latvian heavy metal band Skyforger have released a brand new video for their track Nothing Is Forgotten from their latest 2015 album Old Prussia, dedicating it to the 100th anniversary since the independence of their Latvian homeland.

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD04RxYsM54

Kristīne Neikena, who directed the video, says that main idea is there to remind that when it comes to Latvian history, “nothing is forgotten”, including the hardships and struggles of the Latvian people throughout the years.

The video tells the story through the eyes of a young woman played by Maija Arvena, a rising Latvian film star. Her character's journey is an emotional and symbolic account of the pivotal moments in the history of a Latvian nation, its birth, hopes, rise, fall and, ultimately, rebirth and strength while national landmarks, nature and events feature in the background.

Peter Kvetjovskis, Skyforger's vocalist, adds:

“As we celebrate the centenary of Latvia's independence today on 18th November, we want to dedicate this video as an epitaph of sorts to all those whose lives were broken by all the wars and conflicts that have befallen our land, and to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that future generations could live happily as a free and independent nation. The thing is, history tends to remember only the key figures, including the villains and monsters, while the lives of hundreds of thousands of “ordinary” folks slowly disappear and vanish from the nation's memory… Well, our song is about exactly these people and in their memory!”

The video is directed by Kristīne NEIKENA, cameras by Mārtiņš EGLĪTIS and Tomass BEĶERIS, art direction by Elza BUKUMA, edited by Mārtiņš LAZDĀNS.

Serbia's All My Sins premiere new track at InvisibleOranges.com

Pagan black metal mystics All My Sins premiere the new track "Vukov Totem" at heavily trafficked web-portal InvisibleOranges.com. The track hails from the band's highly anticipated debut album, Pra Sila - Vukov Totem, set for international release on September 23rd via Saturnal Records. A work of windswept mysticism and pure pagan fury, Pra Sila - Vukov Totem is one which has been brewing since the ancient days, and is now being released into the modern era with a timelessness that's exciting to behold. Hear All My Sins' "Vukov Totem" in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Originating from the southern regions of Europe, Serbia's All My Sins was officially formed by Nav Cosmos and V in the year of 2000. The duo gathered a line-up around the idea of claiming its own place among the already-established second-wave black metal scene. Inspired by the spiritual heritage of the land they come from, the band started making records, each of them conceptually placed around the certain mythological symbols.

The first demo, Night Scupltures, was recorded in 2002. It was dedicated to the nocturnal creatures and the driving force behind The Night as a mythological being. The next demo, From the Land of the Shining Past in 2004, focused on the primordial origins of Slavic spirituality and thus was dedicated to The Forest as a mythological entity.

After the several line-up changes that followed, All My Sins was, with few exceptions, barely active for the next 12 years. During this time, V continued his activities among the ranks of such international acts as Kawir, Terrörhammer, Ulvdalir, and Triumfall.

It was finally in 2016 that Nav Cosmos and V were ready to re-form the band and begin work on a new studio record. The result was the Lunar / Solar EP, which was dedicated to The Sky as a mythic being, centring its basis around the ideas of vanishing, going beyond, and dying as seen through the perspective of southern Slavic mysticism. Black Death Production from Poland released Lunar / Solar on CD in 2017, and the EP quickly got appropriate feedback both from the press and the public.

Already in the second half of 2017, All My Sins were once again in the studio, this time working on a full-length conceptually dedicated to The Wolf as a mythological being. Titled Pra Sila – Vukov Totem (rough English translation: "The Primordial Force of the Wolf's Totem"), the album is thematically focused upon the most important and powerful totem in the culture of southern Slavs.

Reflecting the world of impenetrable places, the symbol of The Wolf carries different, often opposed meanings. In mythology regarded as the ancient ancestor of Serbian people, a creature with unusual attributes is believed to possess obscure divine powers. The meeting of man and wolf is mystically dangerous, yet magnificent at the same time. It is the encounter with demonic being and concurrently the moment when a man meets his native forefather. In the world of wilderness abandoned by man, contradictory and strong, The Wolf represents everything we are not, unknown and terrifying - it is the perfection of a stranger.

With eight individual tracks exploring the metaphysical link between the ancestral prehistoric Wolf and the context of the contemporary age, in order to fully comply with the album's symbolic content, Saturnal Records officially releases All My Sins' Pra Sila – Vukov Totem on the 23rd of September, exactly on the day of the last equinox of 2018.

“Pyaneta” is a new fascinating and enthralling journey. It is a powerful symphony where all the instruments and the voices join the sounds of the Nature, painting new grandiose landscapes enriched by colours and sophisticated arrangements.

The melodies reveal themselves along with the sumptuous guitar riffs, a powerful rhythmic session and the twist of strings and orchestration, allowing the listener to be carried away in a dimension full of energy, beauty and hope by these magical tales. “Pyaneta” is also an exhortation to a better awareness of the deep interconnection that exists between every living being and the largest, sentient organism that hosts us, our planet Earth. It is a message of love for life in its gorgeous wholeness.
