Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica have unveiled their brand new single ‘Ashes Of The Modern World.’ The song is taken from Cell-0, their upcoming ninth studio album, released on January 10th via Silver Lining Music.
The powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli.
The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years, finding Apocalyptica challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments.
“It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us,” they explained. “Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.”
Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on ‘Ashes Of The Modern World,’ while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during ‘En Route To Mayhem.’
Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while travelling through that creative process.
“These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about,” Toppinen expresses. “But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.”
In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour, including an appearance at Wembley Arena on February 8th 2020. All confirmed dates are below.

Poland's Devilish Impressions unleash new single and lyric video “Interregnvm”. "Postmortem Whispering Crows" EP details revealed. Pre-order now
Polish melodic black / death metal outfit Devilish Impressions recently announced the signing with Non Serviam Records.
Today the band unveils the first single taken from their upcoming release, "Postmortem Whispering Crows" EP, a follow up to their critically acclaimed 4th studio record “The I”.
Watch the lyric video HERE: https://youtu.be/e2-9Tv_Abwg
"Postmortem Whispering Crows" will be released on September 13th 2019. The pre-orders are active now: https://bit.ly/2YKSb4D
Music wise "Postmortem Whispering Crows" simply continues where “The I” left off. Having introduced some rock-like solos on the latest full-length these unreleased tracks seem to be characterized by even more open approach to the genre. "Postmortem Whispering Crows" is an epic journey across black death metal with the band's own, unique flare to it.
Quazarre (vocals / guitars) comments:-
“One of my all-time greatest inspirations has always been literature of The Young Poland, a modernist period in Polish literature, covering roughly the years between 1890 and 1918. The movement promoted trends of decadence, neo-romanticism, symbolism, catastrophism and impressionism. Having quoted ‘Dzieci Szatana’ (Satans Kinder) by one of the period’s visionary Stanisław Przybyszewski within the lyrics of our “Adventvs” EP, it’s been a logical way for me to immerse both ‘The I’ and ‘Posmortem Whispering Crows’ EP even deeper into the decadent world of other haunted figures associated with the philosophy of their leader. The quoted authors following the period’s concept believed in decadence, an end of all culture, the conflict between humans and their civilization, and the concept of art as the highest value.”
Polish Melodic Black / Death Metallers Devilish Impressions sign to Non Serviam Records; new EP "Postmortem Whispering Crows" out Autumn 2019
Polish melodic black / death metallers Devilish Impressions have inked a deal with Non Serviam Records.
Ricardo Gelok, Non Serviam Records’ boss comments: “The first time I heard of Devilish Impressions, they impressed me a lot. Their music is exactly what we like to hear at Non Serviam Records and we knew we had to sign the band and release their new music.”
Devilish Impressions’s frontman Quazarre adds: “Non Serviam sounds like a perfect motto to what we carry as the message behind the band's activities. A torch of freedom held up, as crows flying high... ‘Postmortem Whispering Crows’ EP coming soon on Non Serviam Records!”
"Postmortem Whispering Crows" EP is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 4th studio album “The I”. Stay tuned for more details in the upcoming weeks.
Polish extreme metal veterans Vader are releasing their new EP titled "Thy Messenger". Also, the band have revealed a new lyric video for the single 'Steeler'.
Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvpidgZYb00
The band states:-
"We are so happy to give You all Vader’s new EP 'Thy Messenger'. We recorded those five songs in January when we were supposed to record a full-length album. However, we changed some plans and dates, which delayed the LP till December 2019. Since we already had several songs ready, we decided to travel to Hertz Studio again and record as an independent release. We added a re-make of a title track from album 'Litany', which was recorded 20 years ago. This one became one of favourites among our fans and we plan to perform the whole album as part of live-set in Autumn this year. The other song is our version of 'Steeler' from the legendary Judas Priest 'British Steel' record and is our huge respect for their heritage in the metal scene. In the meantime, we’re working on the new album in Grindstone Studio in UK with Scott Atkins as producer and there is only some vocals and leads left to finish. We will visit many festivals and our own shows in Summer and Autumn and we will bring songs from 'Thy Messenger' on stage too. See ya soon and… STAY VADERIZED \m/".

'Thy Messenger' was recorded over a week-long period in January and February at Hertz Studio in Białystok, Poland under the supervision of the Wiesławski Brothers. The cover art was painted by Wes Benscoter, who previously worked with Vader on the 'De Profundis' LP and has collaborated with such bands as Slayer, Kreator and Sinister.
A new full Vader album will be recorded later this year for a tentative autumn release.
Vader have one UK show currently scheduled for 2019 as follows :

Repent, the end is near, and sonic hell is soon to be unleashed again with eight new, ungodly anthems to death and extinction - Płock, Poland based Kingdom return with "Rotting Carcass Arise upon the Burial Mound". No fallacy, no poseur, no post-isms, just pure epitome of death metal, with a bunch of its unrelenting disciples bowing and paying homage to the ancient godz ov war, blasphemy and death! Gnarly and ghastly, putrid, grinding and crushing, pummelling and bone-breaking, devastating metal of death, surpassing everything the horde have released to date. Plus, as 'tradition' has it, a cover - Kingdom's take on Samael's "Baphomet's Throne". No cross unturned, no prisoner taken, just sonically lobotomised and mutilated bodies piling up a burial mound...
STH reveals the message of the new opus:-
"And I looked, and beheld a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And I saw, and beheld a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. We are Kingdom. We speak Death!"
"Rotting Carcass Arise upon the Burial Mound" is scheduled for a release on 6th June 2019 as standard jewel case CD with a twelve-page booklet and in digital formats through Godz Ov War Productions.
The material was recorded at Garaż Studio, the whole production was handled by MateuSz, and the album cover and layout were created by the ever-astonishing Maciej Kamuda.

Polish Gothic / Alternative Metallers Arshenic release new single & official video 'Dear Remorse' (taken from the album 'Final Collision') through Sliptrick Records.
Dear Remorse is a music video from Arshenic’s forthcoming album Final Collision. The song has a Doom / Gothic aesthetic with female lead vocals, background screams and symphonic nuances.
The story behind the clip is referring to relationships between people living in their physical bodies and other non-physical entities like ghosts, angels or demons, presences of which all of us may sometimes experience. It also can be seen as a expression of loss, despair and abandonment when someone close to us disappears from our life.

New Zealand Thrashers Alien Weaponry release "Ahi Kā" music video; currently touring North America, European tour this summer
Alien Weaponry have released the music video for their new single, "Ahi Kā", which premiered last week over at Billboard. The song represents the first new material from the New Zealand based metal trio since releasing their 2018 debut album, Tū. Fans can check out the music video for "Ahi Kā" via the link below. The track is also featured on Adult Swim's new, streaming-only compilation record Metal Swim 2.
Alien Weaponry's singer-guitarist Lewis de Jong talks about "Ahi Ka" (Which, like many of the band's songs, is sung in New Zealand's indigenous language of Te Reo Māori):-
"Ahi Kā was inspired by the Auckland city council's decision to burn down what was considered to be the unsightly indigenous Maori village of Okahu Bay in advance of Queen Elizabeth II's 1953 visit. The eviction sparked a 40-year battle for the native Ngati Whatua to reclaim their land, including protests and battles with the police. Amid worldwide criticism, a small portion of the original land was ultimately returned with an apology and some compensation."
Watch "Ahi Ka" HERE
"Ahi Kā" is available for streaming and purchase through Spotify and iTunes (respectively) over HERE!
Fans and music critics alike have applauded the band's approach to unifying Te Reo Māori (the native language of New Zealand) with thrash metal sensibilities; ultimately creating a sound that is driven by emotionally and politically charged conflict while boasting youthful, warrior-like resilience.
Both Lewis and Henry are of Ngati Pikiāo and Ngati Raukawa (Māori tribal) descent, and began their schooling at a kura kaupapa Māori (full immersion Māori language school) where singing waiata (songs) and performing haka were a daily routine. Also ingrained in their early education were stories of New Zealand history told to them by their father, who would also introduce them to the music of Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Anthrax, Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others.
Alien Weaponry was formed in 2010 by brothers Lewis (vocals & guitar) and Henry de Jong (drums), who were 8 and 10 years old at the time. The two would later move to the small town of Waipu in 2012, and went on to meet Ethan Trembath (bass) there in 2013. The de Jong brothers came up with the name Alien Weaponry after watching the film District 9.
Alien Weaponry have also been nominated for "Best International Breakthrough Band" at the 2019 Heavy Music Awards (UK). The event takes place on August 22nd at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. Fan voting is now open at https://vote.heavymusicawards.com/ until June 27th.

Arshenic is a rock/metal band from Poland. The music of Arshenic is inspired by such trends as art rock, alternative metal, progressive rock, goth metal, melodic metal and dark rock. The name of the band is a reference to arsenic, which is a poison and also a cure. That duality can be easily heard in the group’s songs. A strong female charismatic image is the calling card of the band and the sound is mainly defined by the various types of female vocals, both singing and screaming, clean and distorted guitars, diverse bass parts and dynamic drum playing with a little flavour of electronics, cellos and orchestral sounds in the background. Arshenic’s lyrics cover topics like individualism, self-expression and inner emotional states and are written mostly in a dark poetic manner.
The group was formed in 2007 in Poland by the vocalist Ofilia. That same year, Arshenic recorded material for their first EP. After that the group played numerous concerts and went on tour around Poland as a support for leading goth rock groups in their country while also recording their first promotional album. In 2015, after a 3 year hiatus and line-up changes, Arshenic started to work on new material which culminated in the EP Erased in 2016 plus the single and video for the track Monster. In 2018, the music video Unspoken was released which tells a twisted story about spirituality.
Their new album Final Collision is set for release via Sliptrick Records on August 20th 2019 with the single and official video release of Dear Remorse preceding that on May 15th 2019.
