Australian Progressive Metal Band Ironstone releases Hollow. They state:
“We’re thrilled to present 'Hollow’, the third single from our debut EP, Prophecy. The song addresses one of the largest challenges facing our generation today... the state of the Earth’s ecology. This topic evokes a range of emotions, from anger and despair through to disbelief and sadness. Despite this, Hollow is about hope and the part we need to play in affecting our future for the better."
Hollow’s lyrics caution against a path of ongoing greed and excess and cynically invite the listener to ‘gorge upon the bounty’ without considering anyone else or the consequences of their actions, giving a healthy dose of clarity in a reverse psychology package.
Hollow has a sound that is as nuanced as the message it delivers. The guitars while conveying frustration and rage are offset by carefully placed ambient elements. The whole song fluctuates between bursts of percussive, aggressive guitar, technical drumming and beautiful melodies that overflow with emotional tension. All of this culminates in a big build-up and pay-off to help drive the message home!
The video for Hollow features orange and blue lighting, giving it a jarring, dramatic theme. Individual shots are complemented by graphics, glitches, and symbols, giving the clip a frantic atmosphere that helps to convey a feeling of urgency.
Hollow was mixed and mastered by Chris Themelco of Monolith Studios, Melbourne.

Ironstone is a progressive metal band from Bendigo, Australia. With influences coming from a range of modern metal genres, their music features the duality of clean and distorted vocals, djent driven riffs and breakdowns, atmospheric layers and catchy choruses. The result is a contemporary metal sound that is sophisticated, melodic and hard-hitting.
Israeli progressive metal wizards Scardust have released a music video for ‘Addicted‘ , the track is taken from their new album ‘Strangers‘, which will be released on October 30th, 2020 via M-Theory Audio. The YouTube video can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/lxJsPhHHntQ
"In Tantibus II we met the one who decided to disconnect from reality into her own mind, and now in Addicted we find that there is someone who cares about her. She tries to show her the meaning of addiction, and explain to her that she is running away instead of facing reality. This video shows us the passage between the worlds of reality and addiction. The character in Addicted can walk freely between those worlds, she is neither stuck nor fighting to get out. The choir represents the way out, and the string quartet represents the way in."
Scardust has also launched the “Mist Cover Challenge”, an invitation for fans to play or sing along with the final minute of the new song “Mist”, the closing track of “Strangers”, with the chance of winning a deluxe package of signed CD and vinyl copies of “Strangers”, a new design Scardust t-shirt and guitar picks. Vocalist Noa Gruman explains:-
"Strangers deals with the concept of being estranged. Written from multiple perspectives, it explores the ways in which people can be estranged from one another, from themselves, from society, from their loved ones and even from their own subconscious. After the overture, which introduces musical themes, the album separates into two parts. Every song from the second part is a mirror image of a parallel song in the first. Each pair of songs tells the story of a pair of strangers. They can be played together as a stand-alone piece, as individual songs or as part of the album, whatever the listener’s heart desires.”
The album was mixed by Yonatan Kossov and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Arch Enemy).

This album was positively received by progressive metal fans worldwide. The band was searching for a new label to release their third upcoming album and found LRP to be a great fit for them.
Bandleader Christian Ayala had the following to when asked about the signing:
“Avandra is very proud to sign to such a great up-an-coming and hard working label like LRP! We can’t wait to start this journey together!”
The band is now working on their third release and more information about that will be revealed in the coming months!

Tantibus is a word with Latin roots, meaning “Nightmare”. Some say it is an evil spirit that puts the sleeper into a state of Paralysis. It has the monstrous character of a nightmare and produces a feeling of anxiety or terror.
Tantibus II continues the story of the song Tantibus (the first ever single and video the band officially released, back in 2015) in which the protagonist is stuck within a Sleep Paralysis and is looking for a way out.
In Tantibus II the protagonist becomes addicted to this feeling, describing it as “taming her demon”, disconnecting from reality into her own mind in which she can now feel safe.
The EXIT sign represents the way out of the nightmare, as seen in Tantibus when the protagonist chases it without ever reaching it. Tantibus II’s opening shot is an EXIT sign broken into pieces at the feet of the protagonist who is holding a hammer. This is when she decided to destroy her way out and sink into her nightmare.
Soon we will find out that in reality there is someone who cares about our protagonist, and they will get to show their side of this story in the very next song to be released. Can you guess what it’s called? Check our YouTube channel on Tuesday September 15th to see if you’re right.
Vocalist Noa Gruman explains:-
“Strangers deals with the concept of being estranged. They can be played together as a stand alone piece, as individual songs or as part of the album, whatever the listener’s heart desires.”
“Strangers” was written and composed jointly by singer and band leader Noa Gruman and Orr Didi, who also collaborated with Gruman on “Sands of Time” – which was hailed by Prog Magazine as “extraordinary” – and Scardust’s debut EP “Shadow.” The album was mixed by Yonatan Kossov and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Arch Enemy).
The recording sessions for “Strangers” began in the winter of 2020. From there, the band was faced with the outbreak of COVID-19, which brutally destroyed their recording plans, ironically forcing them to continue the process in isolation, estranged from one another, in their individual home studios.
The album’s guest of honour is Patty Gurdy, a fantastic German folk musician and a dear friend of the band. The band’s relationship with Patty began two years ago after mutual admiration led to a guest appearance at a Berlin concert by the band. Friendship blossomed into a combined Scardust/Patty Gurdy UK tour in 2019 and now culminates in the track “Concrete Cages” on this album. Inspired by Patty’s unique playing, singing and character, this song was tailored by the band especially for her. They planned to record, perform a show and shoot a video together in Tel Aviv, but unfortunately, just days before Gurdy was due to travel, all flights between Germany and Israel were banned, forcing them to change their plans and adapt to the new reality. Eventually, Gurdy recorded in her home studio in Germany with support by Gruman via video chat from Israel, in tune with the times.
“Strangers” also continues Scardust’s tradition of featuring lush and expansive vocals by the Hellscore choir. Gruman founded Hellscore for the recordings of the band’s previous album, and they have returned to reprise their role on “Strangers.” Since forming, Hellscore have also recorded and performed with Amorphis, Therion, Ayreon, Orphaned Land and many more.
In addition, the album features the vocals of England’s prestigious Westbrook Hay Prep School Chamber Choir, who have performed at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall.
“Recording the Westbrook Hay Prep School Chamber Choir led by Chris Wagstaff was one of the highlights of the recording process for me, and delivered a magical moment on the album. I flew to the UK especially to conduct and record them with Tony Wilson. The choir, made up of about 40 kids between the ages of 8 and 11, had prepared with great diligence and dedication, and their wonderful voices add magic to the song ‘Huts,’ which speaks about the wish to return to a simpler way of life.”
Israel’s leading progressive metal group, Scardust has performed at such major festivals as Ramblin’ Man Fair (UK), Metaldays (Slovenia) and Midi (China). In addition, the band hosts the annual “Scarfest” event in their home country, where they’ve also appeared alongside the likes of Therion, Epica and Symphony X.

Israeli Prog Metallers Subterranean Masquerade sign with Sensory Records; new album impending + teaser posted
New Jersey-based progressive metal source Sensory Records has signed Israel's long-running troupe Subterranean Masquerade. The band has recently completed their fourth LP, Mountain Fever, which is being prepared for release in the months ahead.
Subterranean Masquerade, which until recently was considered a cult studio project for fine taste followers, has transformed over the last two years into an exciting, colourful live act, mixing the traditions of heavy metal together with the aesthetics of world music performance, spiritual punk and pure rock 'n' roll. Praised by music journalists all over Europe and beyond, the band has taken over the stages, showcasing a distinctly audacious execution of their complex songwriting while maintaining an almost magical grip on their audience, reviewed as rave parties for metalheads.
Led by guitarist Tomer Pink, Subterranean Masquerade was previously fronted by Green Carnation vocalist Kjetle Nordhus and Novembers Doom's Paul Khur. The band officially announces its new line-up - a fully Israeli collective of musicians hand-picked from the top of Israel's prog scene - under which the band has been touring with and recording since 2018. Now, the band is heading towards new ground; the spearheads of Israeli progressive oriental metal are back with their most diverse album yet.
With their fourth LP, and sixth overall release, Mountain Fever was recorded between Golan Heights to Fascination Street Studio (engineered by David Castillo) and mixed by Jens Bogren (Leprous, Katatonia, Opeth). Here, Subterranean Masquerade continues pushing the balance between pioneering experimentalism to their own take on modern pop culture and its manifestation in the Middle East. Revealing an album comprised of African and Balkan brass sections, Arabic violins, extended vocal techniques, and several special guest appearances, the band explores radio friendly hooks that emerge out of heavy riffs and polychromatic arrangements.
See a brief teaser for Subterranean Masquerade's Mountain Fever RIGHT HERE. Watch for an official release date for Mountain Fever to be announced alongside full audio samples and much more over the coming months.

Australian progressive metal band Ironstone is set to release their debut EP Prophecy on 29 May 2020. Today they are thrilled to present Downpour, a new single and video from Prophecy. The video was premiered at Metal.de yesterday. (Video below)
The band states:-
"Downpour was written quite a while ago and has developed over time. We incorporated an eastern theme to create the atmosphere of a heavy, monsoonal storm. We loved the idea of filming a music video in pouring rain, which was actually a major incentive to write the song. The lyrics deal with missing the early signs of trouble and then suddenly finding yourself immersed in a bad situation. The song is really about the beauty of hindsight! “
Downpour is both aggressive and melodic, with a djent driven guitar riff that interweaves with a Japanese koto, giving the song a distinctly oriental feel. It features heavily down-tuned guitars, a brutal breakdown, ambient synth elements, an intricate guitar solo and a strong melody.
Music & Lyrics by E.Warren
Mixed and Mastered by Chris Thelmeco (Monolith Studios)
The video for Downpour revolves around lots of water, slow motion and a very wet band. Even though Downpour is not about rain, the video represents the song with that very thing. Torrential rain.
Downpour was mixed and mastered by Chris Themelco of Monolith Studios, Melbourne.

Greek Psychedelic Progressive Metallers Hail Spirit Noir premiere new song 'The First Ape On New Earth'
Greek Psychedelic / Progressive Metallers Hail Spirit Noir unveil the first single, "The First Ape On New Earth", from their forthcoming studio album, "Eden In Reverse". The release is slated for June 19th on Agonia Records.
Listen to the new song, at: https://youtu.be/6kf--_8d0ko
The band had this to say on the new album:-
"This is the album we've spent the most time on. We started off doing some experiments without any idea where they could lead to. After the first 3-4 tracks, we realized we were onto something new for the band. We were no longer in the 60s-70s zone but more in the 70s-80s. The songs sounded retro-futuristic and surreal but they were also more prog, psychedelic and challenging than ever. In the lyrics, we re-wrote the story of Eden from a surreal, Richard Dawkins-esque, Darwinian point of view. The result was Eden in Reverse".
Hail Spirit Noir is an intriguing psychedelic prog metal band, with strong experimental and prog rock influences, recommended for fans of Oranssi Pazuzu, Ulver, Borknagar, or Ghost, yet with an identity of its own. Their third and last album, "Mayhem In Blue", was released to critical acclaim in 2016, and was followed by several festival appearances, including a thundering performance at Roadburn (which simultaneously marked the first-ever appearance of a Greek band at the festival) and other festivals such as Inferno (Norway), Dark Bombastic Evening (Romania) and more.
The group was established late 2010 as a trio and issued their debut album "Pneuma" two years later. Its warm reception strengthened the band's experimental approach and enhanced its quirky take on music, all of which inevitably led to the release of "Oi Magoi" in 2014; a psychedelic prog-black metal opus of trippy melodies and satyric aura. Followed by "Mayhem In Blue" in 2016, the band's signature sound was solidified, and at the same time expanded into more aggressive territories, without abandoning the group's trademark psychedelic-infused melodies. Since 2018, the trio has been joined full-time by its live members, changing the band into a sextet. The new album "Eden In Reverse" was completed late 2019. It is regarded by Hail Spirit Noir as the next step in their ongoing evolution, this time with an 80s twist.
"Eden In Reverse" was recorded at Lunatech Studios. The album was produced and mixed by Dimitris Douvras (Rotting Christ) and mastered by Alan Douches (Nile, Aborted, Whitechapel). Cover artwork was prepared by StuZor. The track "Crossroads" features guest vocals from Lars Nedland of Borknagar.

Innovative British metallers Cypher16 have unveiled the first song and video, “Break,” from their upcoming second full-length album, It's A Long Way Back (From This Road).
The video, which features guest bassist Vishal “V” Khetia from Heart of a Coward, is available today, exclusively via Metal Injection at https://metalinjection.net/video/cypher16-teams-with-heart-of-a-coward-bassist-in-new-song-break.
Says guitarist/vocalist Jack Doolan:-
“'Break' is a focus on the struggle and downward spiral of addiction, and asks the question: ‘How do you break away from something that has held you in chains for your entire life?’ The song also looks at other people with the same problems, those who we can see fading away before our very eyes.”
The lyrical theme of “Break” has also taken on an unplanned relevance in the current climate, providing a message of hope during this trying time.
“The faster section propels the song into a different sphere - one of hope, resilience and perseverance. The music is for everyone suffering, and we hope that it will send a message to people, letting them know that they aren't alone, and that whatever their demons are, there's a way to push through to the other side. I hope it resonates with people, especially with the current situation that we're all going through together!”
“Break” was produced by Jakob Herrmann (Machine Head) at Top Floor Studios in Sweden, mixed by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat) at Hansen Studios in Denmark and mastered by Sean Magee (The Beatles) at Abbey Road Studios in England.
The “Break” digital single is available at https://cypher16.bigcartel.com/product/break-digital-single.
A refreshingly original rock band, Cypher16 harnesses metal with a hint of modern industrial to create a truly massive sound. The band’s debut album, The Great Surveyor, was released in October 2015 to rave reviews. Cypher16 has toured in 17 countries, including multiple tours of America, China and India, playing shows and festivals with the top names in metal.
Cypher16 is also known for epic music videos, filmed at famous landmarks such as Battersea Power Station (“Lonely Road”) and The Natural History Museum (“Open the Dark Door”), where the band was given unprecedented access for an entire night, in 2017. Listen to the single:
"As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul." - Hermes Trismegistus
Vocalist Juha Kemppanen states:-
"Interpretations of the sentence are many and as a subject it's enormous. Because of that our purpose is to challenge the viewer to make their own conclusions. For example, one branch of my own interpretation is based strongly on old Finnish saying "niin makaa kuin petaa". Every deed you do, or leave undone will have an impact to everything else. Trying to live without remorse and one day at a time. Don't fantasize about glorious afterlife, but instead by your choices and actions, make an everyday life a paradise for yourself and for those close to you."
