Argh! You need some body armour for this! Impiety drummer puts together one of the most vicious onslaughts this year under the name of The Furor. Toilet of Hell (US) does an excellent write-up for an excellent premiere HERE. "insane riffage and earth-shattering drumming... too hot to handle" - TOILET OV HELL (US) TOILET OV HELL PREMIERE The Furor from Australia prepares an explosive concoction of death, black and thrash metal and the result is scathing to say the least. Drumming phenomenon Dizazter is a part of Singaporean legends Impiety and not only does that have an influence over here, he's taking it to a different extreme. Mind-boggling drumming aside, his skills with guitars too are no less impressive and he has laid down all the songs for this album. Aided by Hellhound and The Grand Impaler, The Furor whip up a storm of biblical proportions. From start to finish, the album is absolutely unforgiving but it has its share of clever variations and deft tempo changes without derailing the entire momentum. 'Cavalries of the Occult' will go down as one of the most venomous albums of its time. THE FUROR Bandcamp (Pre-orders are ON!) Asian talent has long been overlooked but with their signing to a regional exclusive sub-label, Transcending Obscurity Asia, for their new album, Ilemauzar hope to spread their wings wider, especially in the Western world. The music is most reminiscent of Behemoth and their recent exploits, but the band have their own way of concocting music, invariably using their country's lineage as a form of influence. Hard-hitting, driven and memorable, 'The Ascension' paves the way for the band's much anticipated new album that's due next year. Rudra are the veritable pioneers of 'Vedic Metal' which essentially blends ancient spiritual music with extreme metal music. Many bands have followed in their lead such as Dying Out Flame (Nepal), Kartikeya (Russia), even Heathen Beast (India), and all of them owe it heavily to Rudra, who have been around since 1992. If you wanted music that sounded 'exotic' (for the lack of a better word), this is it. This is where it all started and this is the benchmark. The masters are back. 'Vedic metal' pioneers since the early '90s return this year with their most ambitious album till date. Having worked hard over the years to forge a unique sound that's a sublime blend of Indian classical music rooted in ancient spirituality and extreme metal encompassing death metal, black metal and thrash metal music, Rudra have influenced many and more importantly, have set standards. Unheralded overlords of Asia, Rudra have a cult following that remains mysteriously loyal, as they hone a sound that's probably unparalleled. Their latest album, again founded on the principles of Vedic spirituality, extemporizes on the conventional extreme metal template and achieves hitherto unknown sonic effects. Indian classical instruments such as sitar, flute, tablas (Indian percussion) and even a didgeridoo are used for this album, along with female vocals and ritualistic chanting to emanate a genuine, spiritual expression. 'Enemy of Duality' is destined to be a landmark from the Orient, one that doesn't abandon the ancient roots and blends the traditional sounds and philosophies seamlessly into music that's at once challenging and hypnotic. Singapore’s unholy kings and the true pioneers of Vedic Metal, Rudra have finally released a new single and unleashed the artworks for their eighth album- Enemy of Duality. The new album has taken a lot of research into its making over one year and is touted as the band’s most defying release till date. Rudra, over the years have garnered an awe-inspiring name from several critics and fans, hemming a cult fan following over the last two and a half decades. Having used traditional classical instruments such as Sitar, Tabla, Indian percussion, Didgeridoo (Ancient Wind instrument), among others that fortifies the very flavour of Extreme Metal paving way for their signature sound that appeases listeners transcending into the realm of Ancient Indian Mythology. Riding high on philosophical themes and literature, ‘Enemy of Duality’, is set to release soon via Transcending Obscurity- Asia. The Pre-Orders are up now! Speaking about the single called Slay the Demons of Duality and the artworks, front man Kathir says, “The single ‘Slay the demons of Duality’ was inspired by a verse from the Mandukya Karika. The verse in Sanskrit was chanted in the beginning and towards the end of the song. It is about how we are afraid of evil, demons, satan etc., In fact, many belief systems create a duality between good and evil. In this song, we present the very duality to be demons. Upon inquiry, these demons of duality are found to be purely notional”. The extreme metal veterans are on the verge of celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band. Their upcoming eighth album is said to be the band's most aggressive release so far. Rudra's eighth album is now officially titled "Enemy Of Duality". Front man Kathir Aryaputra says:- "The whole album is based on a Sanskrit text called 'Mandukya Karikas'. The text takes a radical stand on non-duality. So we coupled that philosophy with Extreme Metal. Hence, we thought Enemy Of Duality could be the best suitable title for this album". Furthermore, guitarist Vinod adds:- "This is probably the first album where we have introduced numerous instruments such as Digeridoo, Sitar, Tabla etc., for various tracks in this album. A lot of time and thought has been put in each track, hence it took a lot of effort to get the right tone for all the instruments during the recording stage". http://www.rudra.sg/ Rudra has been one of the longest surviving Asian Metal bands that has been active for two and a half decades.
