German medieval folk metal greats Schandmaul will release their upcoming 11th full-length, "Knüppel Aus Dem Sack", out June 10, 2022 via Napalm Records. The adventurous new offering once again demonstrates the unit's inimitable talent as songwriters and storytellers and invites everyone to enter a thrilling and captivating world of sound. Today, the third single and album closing track “Niamh” opens the gates to the aforementioned ride.
A gripping interlude presented through medieval instruments paves the way for the distinctive vocal offering of Thomas Lindner, who immediately manages to bring stories to life in once mind through his remarkable talent of presenting words like a cinematic happening. Additionally, “Niamh” is highlighted through an atmospheric official video that captivates the spirit of the band and heats up the anticipation for upcoming live shows.
Thomas Lindner on “Niamh”:
“'Niamh' is a journey into the world of Irish legends and myths, into the land of eternal youth! 'Heart, what do you desire more?', one would like to ask. But mankind would not be mankind if we were satisfied with something. So we strive for more and the story takes its course... A song to dive in and let yourself be carried away!”

After riling up the public with their energetic live shows and active social media presence, Japanese metalcore veterans Sailing Before the Wind are back this month with the release of their new single ‘Neo Chronicle’, featuring Jei Doublerice of Despite Exile.
Bass player, composer and longest member of Sailing Before the Wind Bitoku Sakamoto has teased fans with a statement about what fans can expect from the new single:-
“My roots are in melodic hard rock, it’s a style we have touched on past releases. This time I tried to present that more clearly because it's natural for me. When it came to picking a feature, I did not want to lose the heaviness of metalcore, which is how Jei Doublerice came to mind. We’ve performed together in Japan back in 2019 and I’m glad we could collaborate this time.”
‘Neo Chronicle’, which was mixed and mastered by Innersound Audio (known for work with InVisions and Glamour of the Kill) is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most other online streaming platforms. It is also accompanied by a lyric video created by GHD, check it out on the band’s YouTube.
The Tokyo based metalcore band Sailing Before The Wind formed in 2011. The band had numerous line-up changes over the years, currently the band consists of four members, bassist Bitoku with three recruited members. The band made their presence known continuously with seven EP’s and various singles, which includes guest appearances from The Unguided, A Scent Like Wolves, Sienna Skies and more.
Sailing Before The Wind songs frequently feature highly melodic twin guitar leads, metal riffs, and breakdowns, with a variety of influences from many metal sub genres. The band is also noted for their aggressive live performance and synchronized stage presence.
Neo Chronicle will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most other online streaming platforms.
Motionless In White have shared "Slaughterhouse," a brand new song featuring Knocked Loose's Bryan Garris.
"Slaughterhouse" is available today on all streaming platforms and featured on Motionless In White's widely-anticipated new album Scoring The End of the World, due out June 10. The forthcoming album is available to pre-save on all streaming platforms today, with exclusive merch bundles available for pre-order in the band's official store.
Building on the anticipation for Scoring The End of the World, "Slaughterhouse" follows the previously released singles "Masterpiece" and "Cyberhex," the official videos for which quickly trended Top 10 on YouTube and have since amassed over 6 million views. Furthermore, "Masterpiece" continues to grow at the Active Rock radio format, jumping into the Top 30 this week and continuing to grow in audience.
Scoring The End of the World fully encompasses the expanse of the band's dynamic, deep, and dark vision, and marks the band's first full-length body of work in three years since 2019's Disguise. The latter has quietly made a major impact on rock music and culture. The single "Another Life" stands out as their most-streamed song ever with over 25 million YouTube views on the music video. The record claimed a spot on Loudwire's "50 Best Metal Albums of 2019," plus it ignited the creative renaissance that would set the stage for the statement-making Scoring The End of the World.
Motionless In White harnessed the power of an unholy union between industrial metal dissonance, spellbinding gothic pop bombast, and big screen-worthy iconography to emerge as 21 century rock's most iconoclastic and cinematic force. Climbing out of the shadows of the rustbelt in Scranton, PA, the group has tirelessly earned the undying allegiance of a devout worldwide audience one record at a time.
With over half-a-billion cumulative streams and views to date, they have notched three consecutive Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Rock Albums Chart with Reincarnate , Graveyard Shift , and Disguise . The latter spawned the inescapable "Another Life," which tallied over 100 million streams and counting. Not to mention, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Maria Brink of In This Moment, and Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth have welcomed the opportunity to collaborate.
After countless sold-out gigs and festivals, they co-headlined the Trinity of Terror Tour, selling out venues coast-to-coast. However, everything set the stage for their 2022 opus, Scoring The End of the World. Right out of the gate, the single "Cyberhex" trended Top 10 on YouTube, while the follow-up "Masterpiece" lit up streaming platforms. With guests as diverse Bryan Garris of Knocked Loose, Caleb Shomo of Beartooth, and video game composer Mick Gordon, the album finds the group's vision magnified wider than ever before with no shortage of teeth, fire, and blood. It's the dawn of their biggest chapter yet.
Behemoth, the high priests of extreme metal have announced their 12th studio album, Opvs Contra Natvram, their most thought-provoking and arresting collection to date, set for release on September 16th, via Nuclear Blast. The album's first single, 'Ov My Herculean Exile' arrives today, alongside a cinematic official video, directed by Zuzanna Plisz.
The 10 chapters of fury that make up Opvs Contra Natvram were written and recorded over the course of a very strange year for the globe - a situation which only heightened the level of craft seen in these 43 minutes and 15 seconds of searing wrath. As with previous studio outings, Opvs… was produced by Behemoth, with mixing by studio legend Joe Barresi (Nine Inch Nails, Tool, QOTSA, Alice in Chains).
Renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and absolute creative control of Behemoth’s world, frontman and band visionary, Adam 'Nergal' Darski revelled in the depressurised environment afforded by the pandemic. It meant that for nearly the first time since the band’s inception over 30 years ago, there was no deadline to observe, allowing for a nearly unprecedented level of attention to the process of writing and recording. Beyond any confines of genre, Behemoth have grown to become nothing less than the personification of rebellion, individuality and unflinching self-expression informed by a literate worldview and worldliness that’s resulted in a locking of horns with everything from the mainstream press to the Polish Catholic church – most notably manifesting in Nergal’s trial for blasphemy in 2010 that only served to expose the deep-seated hypocrisies that his music seeks to challenge.
“The album title means going against the current. It’s the negative of the values and morals and ethics that I stand against. I’ve seriously been wrestling with destructive tendencies in pop culture - cancel culture, social media, and tools which I feel are very dangerous weapons in the hands of people who are not competent to judge others. That’s something which I find very destructive and disturbing - and extremely limiting coming from an artists’ perspective. This is my middle finger to that. There’s a song on the record called 'Neo-Spartacvs'. Spartacus was one of the most iconic rebels in history who went against the most powerful empire of all time. In the end, it’s me screaming, ‘I Am Spartacus, and so are you!’ I want to spark that flame of rebellion. If something seems wrong then stand up to it!”

Finnish melodic metal band Lilli releases the third single from the upcoming second album on Thursday 12th of May. The song titled Elude is a heavy sounding but still wistful story of giving one’s all but still to be left with nothing. Elude following the two earlier single releases - Limits of Life and Manflake - continues the musical development leaning towards heavier sounds compared to the band’s first album Awful Hits for Women (2020).
Vocalist Lily Black sums it up:-
”The lyrics are about trial and error in a relationship, about giving all you got to someone but still just not being enough. Eventually one is forced to give up and let go, but still the doubt remains: did I try hard enough or could I have given it more effort?"
Guitarist Teemu Harjunen and bassist Sami Halinen comment on the song:-
"Elude differs from other our songs because the basic structure was created almost two years ago but the finishing took time. The chorus especially took a lot of work and we ground it to the point of tiring. We put the song on the shelf for a while and got back to working on it in the beginning of 2022 as we were working on the second album. Suddenly it all just clicked and the released version also includes a synthesizer bringing wideness to the sound. The song is very nice to play and as an upbeat song it works great in live shows as well”
The song has been recorded in the group’s bassist Sami Halinen’s home studio in Nakkila
Mixing was done by Sami Niittykoski (SN-Audio Production) and mastering Alho Audio Mastering.
LILLI is a melodic rock and metal playing band founded in February 2019 from Pori, Finland.
Band line-up on Elude single:
“Monolith, from US symphonic metal project Nomadic Narwhal, is a tale of destruction and beauty. One could only imagine, whether looking for it or not, being on a dive and coming across a Monolith. Something clearly manmade that has been submerged for decades, totally coral-encrusted and heavily eroded.
Monolith begins with an eerie feeling of being in an unknown environment that builds into a more fantastical feel as if you had made a mysterious discovery. The listener is then challenged to imagine how something like that is now underwater with heavy riffing and rhythm. A destructive force had to have brought this world as it is underwater. A chaotic event involving the titanic force of mother nature.
The track then shifts gears to more of an epic build signifying the natural thoughts to follow of mystique and wonder. Attempting to capture the excitement and significance of such an experience, Monolith ties multiple emotions into one moment before bringing the listener back to a brutal ending symbolizing a resurfacing with more than just a story to tell.” – Jesse Beisner [Nomadic Narwhal]

"Tripwire" is the second stand-alone single from Perfect NME, following 2021 full length album "Remains To Be Seen".
The song has all the trademarks of a Perfect NME song - heavy riffs, a healthy blend of intense and organic, a large chorus - all delivered within a diverse musical framework. Lyrically, it deals with the inevitability of change, of trying to move on and the scars it can leave us with.
Perfect NME are currently hard at work on the follow up to their debut album. More details to come!
After years spent carefully honing their sound and live performances, Perfect NME have proved themselves a force to be reckoned with. Their debut album «Remains to be Seen» was released to critical acclaim and helped pave the way forward. Hard grooves, atmosphere, blistering instrumental work, aggression and melody are the keywords.
Born from a desire to transcend more traditional metal genres, Perfect NME first saw the light of day in 2014. From the start the members’ diverse musical backgrounds helped sow the seeds to create something unique, and with a conscious view to moulding these various influences into a new kind of monster, incorporating elements of modern metal, thrash, in-your-face beats and big choruses, Perfect NME have managed to forge a sound identifiable and relevant, while staying true to their musical inspirations.
7 years on, and the band have seen two ep’s and a full album all released to great reviews; 2014’s self-titled “Perfect NME”, 2015’s “Monument”, and the debut album «Remains to be Seen», released via Wormholedeath records. The band have played numerous gigs up and down the length of Norway, both as support for larger acts and as headliner, earning them a reputation as a solid live band and attracting a large support base. They have been frequently featured in the press and have received radio play rotation. The band partnered with Wormholedeath records for the release and worldwide distribution of their debut album "Remains to be Seen". The album, pre-produced at Ronnie Le’tekrø’s (tnt) studio captures the essence of the band and its vision, and also includes the song «legion» with special guest vocals by Bjørn Strid (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra).
Thematic at its core, «Remains to be Seen» covers much musical ground, yet remains a cohesive metal experience, while lyrically exploring the concept of loss and its lingering influence on the present. The band is currently working on the follow up album, and are also set to release several singles in the near future.
With the release of «Remains to be Seen», and with the follow up album in the works, Perfect NME are poised to take their brand of metal to a wider audience, both at home and abroad, and have set their sights firmly on the future.

Frantic aggressive metal reflecting the outcry of the Iranian youth, Padra’s Farsi lyrics are a call back to the original essence of Thrash Metal.
Padra vocalist / guitarist Ramtin Dashti had this to say about "Jabr", their latest creative effort:
"'The literal meaning of the word Jabr is “Algebra”, but in Persian culture as well as the Persian language it’s the antonym of “Free Will” and is considered to be a power above “Free Will” and ultimately used to control mankind. The Jabr that we have to contend with in Iran our whole lives is the sheer domination of retrogressive and traditional ideals in favour of the young generation’s progressive ideals. We tried to convey this concept in our artwork and in the song we aimed to blend aggressive melodic music with Persian lyrics and remind our fans of our old style of song writing.'"
Founded in 2010, the band initially started as an experimental project, implementing Farsi lyrics alongside various metal subgenres. Since then, the band has released two albums and four singles, and throughout their journey, it has evolved to become one of the more mainstream acts of the Iranian metal scene. Their Farsi lyrics mirror the Iranian youth’s genre of preference, Persian Rap, and is why Padra can appeal to many Iranians and has landed them a loyal following in Iran.
A following that travelled from all corners of Iran to see the band’s two live performances in 2016 ensured that those live shows became two of the most memorable live experiences of the Iranian metal scene.
The band is never afraid to get political with their lyrics, which closely resembles Persian rappers. In addition, they also incorporate horror and existentialistic elements in their songs.
Fans of bands such as Kreator and Testament will recognize Padra’s use of old school thrash metal and melodic death metal elements and their modern production approach. Their style of ferocious metal perfectly augments the message the band tries to convey, revolt and disobeying against retrogression.
In 2021, after moving to Istanbul, Turkey Padra signed with the first Iranian Metal label, Tough Sounds, to deliver the outcry of Iran’s youth to the ears of the international metal community with their future singles in 2022.
