Swedish Pirate Metallers Ye Banished Privateers set sail with new album 'Hostis Humani Generis' – due out February 7th, 2020
The savage beast from the north, Ye Banished Privateeers, return with their enthralling fourth album, Hostis Humani Generis, out February 7, 2020 via Napalm Records. The new full-length is the most authentic of pirate manifests – with more than enough audacious atmosphere, sing-along hymns, folk tunes and foul rambling to secure the band’s unique position in the genre. These Swedish marauders of the sea take you through the ups and downs of pirate life!
The sinister atmosphere of the first single, “No Prey, No Pay”, conveys the spirit of what it means to be a pirate and catapults you back in time – right into the 18th century of the hazardous world of Ye Banished Privateeers. Listen to the Freebooters first single and breathe in the salty air of the sea!
“Chase is on in shallow waters, swivels glowing through the smoke, 'tis might be an even slaughter, took a volley through the oak”

Ye Banished Privateeers on their first single "No Prey, No Pay":
“By the grace of God and King George’s arse! We are releasing a new video, and our next album is officially on the way! “No Prey, No Pay” sets the stage for the album and describes how times suddenly had become more difficult for those sailing under the black flag. More than ever, piracy had become a hazardous task, many times with the sole purpose of getting enough value to guarantee a decent meal for a couple of days.”
Pre-Order Hostis Humani Generis HERE:
Ye Banished Privateeers on Hostis Humani Generis:
“It is with great pride that we present to you our fourth full length album - Hostis Humani Generis! Over the course of 13 songs (well, 15 if you get the deluxe box) we tell the immersive story of a delinquent pirate crew, the downfall of the pirate republic of Nassau, and the end of the Golden Age of Piracy. We are immensely happy that the time has finally come to share this with you all, and we really hope you like it as much as we do!”

Founded by vocalist Jake E (ex-AMARANTHE) and guitarist Jesper Strömblad (ex-IN FLAMES), CYHRA has gone from being reminiscent of the duo's former bands to having a unique identity. The addition of guitarist Euge Valovirta (ex-SHINING) as a full member has raised the creative process to a level where, according to Jake E, "Everyone is playing to the point of what is best for the song”. No Halos In Hell is one of those rare albums that defies being neatly placed in a genre box: delivering tunes that are both heavy and dynamic, the record is loaded with melodic vocal hooks and musical earworms.

Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica have unveiled their brand new single ‘Ashes Of The Modern World.’ The song is taken from Cell-0, their upcoming ninth studio album, released on January 10th via Silver Lining Music.
The powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli.
The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years, finding Apocalyptica challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments.
“It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us,” they explained. “Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.”
Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on ‘Ashes Of The Modern World,’ while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during ‘En Route To Mayhem.’
Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while travelling through that creative process.
“These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about,” Toppinen expresses. “But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.”
In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour, including an appearance at Wembley Arena on February 8th 2020. All confirmed dates are below.

Swedish sludge band Pyramido are now streaming the entirety of their new album "Fem" in full via Ghost Cult Magazine. The album will be released tomorrow via The Sign Records.
Listen to the album in full here: http://ghostcultmag.com/exclusive-album-stream-pyramido-fem/
Pyramido was formed in the southern Swedish city of Malmö in 2006. Five different individuals getting together, sharing a common passion for heavy, distorted and slowed down music... Suddenly these people seem to be getting together every week. Songs are starting to take shape and these five are slowly transforming into one musical being. With a new name, Pyramido, they are now a band with dreams of touring and releasing music. Since then this collective of friends has released four full-length records, a number of EPs, and played every dark and damp squat of Europe you might imagine.
In the early days of Pyramido’s existence, the band played a generic take on sludge/doom metal with influences too obvious to mention. Over the years, Pyramido has steadily evolved, eventually becoming the more diverse and not so anxious -- the band you see today. This transformation started to show on the bands third record, Saga, making a more permanent mark on the 2016 follow up, Vatten, on which the influences from the band members' combined passion for music of all kind started to make its way into Pyramido’s rusty soundscape.
The brand new album, entitled simply Fem, which is Swedish for the number five, was recorded and mixed during the fall of 2018, with engineer John Rönnerblad. Written over the course of a few years, Pyramido has taken the time to let the new material breathe and evolve naturally, not being afraid to try new tempos, melodies, and ideas sometimes foreign to the genre. Drawing inspiration from the delicate melodic figures of dreamy 90’s indie rock, the folky fuzz of vintage Swedish psychedelia, and the bittersweet harmonies of Henrik Berggren and Broder Daniel. Then imagine these influences being suffocated by the impact of the heaviness and aggression that is Pyramido, leaving only about a few percent of them passably breathing. The result is a somewhat heavy-hearted and melodic sludge metal/hardcore attack, once perfectly described as "…a warm hug rather than a punch in the face."
With Pyramido you won’t get the usual macho, congregating-at-a-sacrificial-altar- doing-bonghits-with-Satan-while-worshipping-riffs-and-watching-vintage-biker-flicks-bullshit-shtick that is commonly represented when describing this kind of music. What you will get though is honest, soulful, yet aggressive and crushingly heavy music with strong roots in DIY culture and lyrics dealing with the struggles of everyday life and a desperate hope for social change.

Swedish Prog Metallers Silent Call unveil 'Imprisoned In Flesh' music video, new album "Windows" out Oct 11th
Swedish progressive metal pioneers Silent Call have released their new single 'Imprisoned In Flesh' taken from their forthcoming album "Windows" to be released October 11, 2019 via Rockshots Records.
"Windows" is the fourth album from Silent Call and was mixed and mastered by Rich Hinks (Annihilator). After three decades and three albums released to date, "Windows" will be the last album of their career. Don't miss the chance to catch this brand new progressive heavy metal masterpiece.
Listen to 'Imprisoned In Flesh' HERE.
Album Pre-Order: http://bit.ly/Windows_CD
Arising from the thriving music scene of Stockholm, Sweden, Silent Call trace their lineage to the year 1990, when founding members Daniel Ekholm and Patrik Törnblom met through a common friend. Realizing their shared passion and strong melodic influence, they formed what became the chief driving force and songwriting effort behind Silent Call's sound, which can be compared to many of the leading bands in today's' genre.
In 2006, Silent Call was joined by progressive metal drummer powerhouse Mikael Kvist (Elsesphere, Fate), and the line-up was soon expanded with the acquisition of bassist Tobbe Moen (Red Fun, OZ, Creozoth). The singer's slot was finally filled in September of 2006 with the addition of ex-Seventh Wonder and Elsesphere vocalist Andi Kravljaca. After the completion of the line-up, things happened very quickly for Silent Call. The band's debut 4-track demo "Divided," released in January of 2007, showcased the band's new direction and line-up and was promptly picked up by UK label Escape Music.
Silent Call's debut album, "Creations From A Chosen Path", was released during August 2008, featuring 13 tracks of powerful melodic metal, with guest appearances by the likes of Göran Edman (Yngwie Malmsteen, Brazen Abbot) on vocals and Daniel Flores (Mind's Eye, Murder of My Sweet) on drums. The album was mixed and mastered at JM Studios by famed studio man Martin Kronlund (Hammerfall). Received extremely well by the press, "Creations From A Chosen Path" has been hailed as one of the best metal albums of 2008 by several European magazines.
During the winter of 2009, Silent Call began recording their follow-up album, "Greed". Once again mixed and mastered by Martin Kronlund, and this time featuring artwork by Progart genius Mattias Noren, the 11 tracks on "Greed" explore heavier and more complex musical ground, showcasing Silent Call at their thus far most progressive, and most aggressive release.
Silent Call had to pull off something special if they were to continue on the lines of surpassing their debut and "Greed" had done just that. Their follow-up 2014 release "Truth's Redemption" was a fine example of what fantastic progressive metal should actually sound like! With songs like "Every Day", "All That Might Be" and "When the Angels Call Your Name", Silent Call effortlessly produced top class music with all the hallmarks of being overnight sensations. Crisp guitar work, a plethora of keyboards and great lead vocals were all to be found on the album.
In late 2014, new vocalist Göran Nyström (ex Twinspirits) joined the band. Prior to that Silent Call consisted of Göran Nyström on vocals, Daniel Ekholm on guitars, Patrik Törnblom on keyboards, Tobbe Moen on bass and Mikael Kvist on drums. The band started writing songs for a new album in 2015 and also went on a European tour together with Sweden's Tad Morose.
"Windows", the newest album from Silent Call, will be released in the fall of 2019. Production on Silent Call's fourth album, "Windows" was completed in late 2016 and was mixed and mastered by Rich Hinks (Annihilator). "Windows" will be the last album of their career and is due out on October 11, 2019 via Rockshots Records.

Swedish doom lords Goatess premiere the new track "What Lies Beneath" at heavily trafficked web-portal CVLTNation.com. The track hails from the band's highly anticipated third album, Blood and Wine, set for international release on September 27th via Svart Records. Hear Goatess' "What Lies Beneath" in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Goatess summon the frenzy and religious ecstasy of a Bacchus cult with the aptly titled Blood and Wine. Riffs of biblical, Cecil B. DeMille magnitude part the Red Sea and chariot their way across the dunes like a relentless raging Roman legion. Expert songwriting by modern veterans of the scene, Sweden’s Goatess take the traditional doom metal foundations of Saint Vitus, Trouble, and early Cathedral out to the desert and mould it into a set of arid, hypnotic stoner grooves. Bringing to mind modern classics of desert rock like the catchier moments of Kyuss’ Sky Valley and Corrosion Of Conformity’s Blind albums, Blood and Wine is a thirst-quenching refreshment in a parched dust bowl. The revitalized line-up of Kenta Karlbom (drums) and Niklas Jones (guitar) with new initiates Karl Buhre (vocals) and Samuel Cornelsen (bass) have struck a mother lode of gold with their rich doom pedigree and a newfound lifeblood in their chemistry. Having already tread the hallowed boards of sonic temples all over Europe several times, Blood and Wine will see the Goatess cult of doom enthusiasts drawn in anew and the Bacchanalia cult swelling in their hooded numbers.
Nine doses of intoxicating mesmerism that showcase seasoned and masterful command of doom-craft, this album marks Goatess finding a stride in their cloven hooves. Captivating and subtly epic songs steam roll a slow descent into the underworld deserts of your mind, providing a suitable companion to nights of group debauchery or solo excursions to the soul’s outer limits. Giving in to the Bacchanalia at the heart of this record induces a mythical orgy of sonic Sabbathian riff-worship that’s impossible to deny. Once you pop the cork on this barrel-fermented vintage cask, you will enjoy and savour every heavy gulp until the very last drop.
In the meantime, hear the brand-new track "What Lies Beneath" exclusively HERE, courtesy of CVLTNation.com. Also hear the previously revealed "Dunerider" HERE, courtesy of Decibel, North America's only monthly metal magazine. Pre-order info can be found HERE.
