Set for release on May 20th via Unique Leader Records, Dasein, the debut full-length from Canadian neoclassical-influenced tech death unit, First Fragment flaunts a ferocious mesh of over-the-top drum tirades, complex neoclassical-influenced guitar work, boundless solo work, Flamenco and clean guitar passages, proggy death metal bass work and a varied dual vocal approach. Captured at Humanoise Studios with Mathieu Marcotte (Augury, Humanoid) and mixed by Hugues Deslauriers (Augury, Defilementory, Vengeful etc.), the eleven-track offering features guest appearances from current and former members of Spawn Of Possession, Obscura, Inferi, Augury, and Elderoth, as well as artwork by Sam Nelson (Incandescence, Wayfarer, Stoic Dissention). In advance of its release, today Heavy Blog Is Heavy offers up fourth movement, "Émergence," for public appreciation noting, "The track is an absolute monster and adequately describes what kind of music you're in for. From the awesome guitar solo in the middle to the fantastic leads, this album is sure to knock your socks off if you're a fan of the genre, and even more so if you're already a fan of the band." Elaborates guitarist/vocalist Phil Tougas, "This track is extremely old [2008-2009]. Almost all of the songs on the album are either entirely written by myself or [guitarist] Gabriel Brault-Pilon, but this one was written as a full collaborative effort, hence the ridiculous amount of counterpoint in both guitar parts and basslines. It is not as neoclassically-influenced in the progressions and phrasing as the other tracks since the melodies present here channel a different atmosphere, but it is just as varied and relentless, and it is probably the most diverse track on the album when it comes to the vocals. Our signature high-pitched riffing style that we've had since 2007 is present throughout the whole song but we've added a lot of twists and turns that you wouldn't find in any other of our songs." Canada's long-running and much loved craftsmen of technical death metal are returning with a 33-minute song. Entitled 'Pleiades' Dust' this complex, image evoking, and masterly arranged eponymous track fills an entire EP, which has been scheduled for release on May 13th. Gorguts are now exclusively streaming the final part of the song, called "Besieged". It is offered via the official media partners listed below. Metal Obsession (AU) Metal.de (DE) Pitchline Zine (ES) Radio Metal (FR) Metalpaths (GR) Kronos Mortus (HU) Metal Wani (IN) Andfari (IS) Rock Hard (IT) Zware Metallen (NL) Eternal Terror (NO) Musick Magazine (PL) Loud (PT) Antichrist Magazine (UA) Terrorizer (UK) Gorguts mastermind Luc Lemay states: "With 'Besieged', the composition that is 'Pleiades' Dust' reaches its last segment. I wanted to have a 'Funeral March' feel to it, since it is a dramatic point in the story, when the Mongol invaders destroy the library and most of the books are thrown in the Tigris river. Musically, I wanted to pay tribute to 3 things with the opening doom riff. First, in the progression of the doom riff, throughout the four repeats, I wanted to expose the theme in unison and in counterpoint, among the string instruments, that gets more complex each time. This constitutes an ode to Penderecki's second violin concerto, which introduces a funeral march feel right after the cadenza. Second, is the guitar tone represents a big nod to the sound of Sunlight studio / HM2. I am absolutely crazy about this guitar tone, which we find on the first Entombed album and also the Bloodbath records. Those had a massive influence on me, when I was writing 'Considered Dead'. Third, is the 'doom riff" guitar work that I originally discovered on the first Paradise Lost album. I was so intrigued by this dark feel in their writing style and that was also a huge influence for the distinct dual guitar riffs on 'Considered Dead'. Therefore this is a tribute to Greg Mackintosh." Gorguts have previously revealed the artwork of 'Pleiades' Dust', which was created by renowned Polish artist Zbigniew M. Bielak (Mayhem, Zhrine, Ghost, Watain). The cover can be viewed below. Tracklisting

The clip "Computronium Pulsar Nanarchy" is now exclusively streaming via the official media partners below.
Regarding "Computronium Pulsar Nanarchy", Wormed comment: "Before this apocalyptic scenario took place, in the other arm of the galaxy, the Conektnity project foresaw it, activating the Neomorph Protocol, commonly called 'The awakening of the one hundred Chryms'. A cyborg army, saved for an event that would threat human existence. These powerful Chryms were designed to establish life in a safe planetary system. All woke up, all but one, Krighsu." Steffen Kummerer of Obscura commented on the track: “The Origin of Primal Expression” shows the title track of our new album stripped down to only one acoustic guitar and is meant to give a slight insight behind the scenes of writing an Obscura song. The two main themes show that certain Death vibes are still present and audible within the multilayered song structures we work with. The bonus tracks on Akroasis are a gesture of gratitude to everyone who purchases physical copies of the record. Music, lyrics and artworks together build an album and create a certain vibe and flair within the songs that is barely comprehensible with a few files stored on a hard disc." "The Origin of Primal Expression" can be heard now via Metal Hammer Germany at this location or via Soundcloud here. Additionally, Obscura will provide direct support in Europe for Death DTA on the "European Thought Patterns" tour this March and April. The tour kicks off in just one week in Rome, Italy. and runs through April 13th in Tallinn, Estonia. The latest crusher comes by way of the band's "A Maze Of Recycled Creeds" full-length, released last Fall in North America via Unique Leader Records. Centered around unfathomable fantasies created by various secret societies and mystical orders, "A Maze Of Recycled Creeds" is a near-fifty-minute-long work of diabolic genius spewing forth eleven tracks of arthritis-inducing riffs, spiraling, harmony-rich fret decomposition's, surgically-precise time shifts, blasts, brawn and an incessant barrage of malicious vocal onslaughts. MetalSucks comments on the track:- "How do Gorod do it? Combine such masterfully technical riffing and lead work with instantly memorable melodies, that is. So many try yet so few succeed, resulting in the oft-cited 'tech-death salad' problem cited by so many of the genre's detractors. Yet Gorod consistently delivers the goods time and time again, as they did on their 2015 album "A Maze of Recycled Creeds", proving why they're some of the best in the biz. Here we are with a new music video for 'Inner Alchemy' from that album, as good as an example as any. Besides showcasing what Gorod do best from a musical standpoint - see above - the video is a fun watch; there are plenty of up-close shots of the guys playing their instruments for you musicians out there, all wrapped in a visually arresting style that keeps the video engaging for the rest of us." Set to commence on March 24th and run through April 16th, the band will be joined by Bookakee as well as Beyond Creation on select dates. GOROD w/ Bookakee - Canadian Tour 2016:
