Masterful Norwegian storytellers Wardruna sign to Sony Music/Columbia Records for the world, and announce European tour dates for 2020. Dates below with tickets going on sale on 11th October at 10am BST, 11am CEST. Details of the upcoming album shall be revealed in due course. Einar Selvik comments: “Wardruna has been a DIY to-the-bone kind of project since the very beginning. Slowly and patiently evolving. Working hard and always keeping the art itself as the primary decisive factor. This will never change for me, and so having people on our team that also embrace this way of working is paramount. Partnering up with Sony Music / Columbia Records is a new steppingstone for us and I am very confident that this new addition to the team will give us new opportunities to further develop our art and take it to the next level.” 2019 marks ten years since Wardruna’s first release. A series of sold out shows at prestigious concert venues around the world culminate in the highlight of the fall; Wardruna will perform in the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in the United States, followed by sold out European tour. The group's critically acclaimed “Runaljod” trilogy based on the Nordic runes reached its conclusion and was followed by a stripped-down, fully acoustic album exploring the ancient poetic traditions of the Skalds. This spring, a new chapter for the band will start. New music is being worked on as well as further steps in the band´s concert production. “I don’t wish to reveal too much at this point but can say that we are now deep into the process of writing and recording a new album. When Wardruna gets up from the current studio-hibernation and initiate the concert-year of 2020, it is clearly allowed to hope for new music!" Says Einar Selvik. Prolific Russian Metal band Second To Sun have released the official video for "Devil," a track from forthcoming album Legacy. Worship the "Devil" at the following location: youtu.be/KbbiCG_PXg0 In other news, the band has announced the upcoming 'Legacy Tour' of Russia, which includes dates in both October and December. Gig and ticket information is available at secondtosunband.timepad.ru/events/ Second To Sun will release new album Legacy on November 7! Consistent with previous albums, the group will also release an instrumental version of the album on November 16. The official video for the album's first single, "Monster," is also available for relentless head-banging at youtu.be/RXPOfgu8Ezc Second To Sun mastermind Vladimir Lentinen had this to say about the forthcoming album: "I'm proud to present you our new album named Legacy, which is even more aggressive and heavier than previous one, but still retains the melodic, hypnotic and cinematic qualities of its predecessor. Legacy is logically divided into three ideological arches: one dedicated to social solitude; an occult part, which is closely intertwined with actual historical events, and a traditional part of our music, which is based on culture of the Finno-Ugric people. We see it as a trilogy unified by a sole idea, which was earlier dubbed as social-decay black metal. All tracks are undoubtedly our legacy, which is the foundation of our album's name.Brilliant artwork for both versions of the release, created by Denis 'Forkas' Kostromitin, who also worked with such bands like Behemoth and Children of Bodom. We live in incredible times, when a band like our can exist without support from the psychopathic musical industry and short-lived trends. Our music simply exists because there are people, who listen to it. Thank you for your attention and support."
Second To Sun is a band from Saint Petersburg, Russia. The most important musical inspiration source of the band is Scandinavian black metal along with creations of groove metal bands Pantera and Fear Factory. Their songs are performed in Russian language or in instrumental versions, and the main lyrical themes for the songs are mystic, mythology and social decay. The basic work unit for the band is still releasing new music, one new song almost every month. After the band’s successful debut album “The Devil’s Own” released on Sony/ Dark Star Records, Methane has been busy touring with bands such as Nervosa, Warbringer and the Haunted. The first single and video from the band’s sophomore album ‘Thin the Herd’ can be listened at this location: https://soundcloud.com/user-297833215/thin-the-herd-1/s-FeGva "Thin the Herd" was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jonas Arnberg at Sellnoise Studio. Methane formed in the fall of 2012 by American brothers, living in Sweden, Tim Scott (former bassist of Revenant and HatePlow) and Dylan Campbell together with Tim’s long time friend Jimi Masterbo and drummer Andreas Strom. After gaining underground recognition for their previous EP releases, 2014's 'Southern Metal', and 2015's 'Spit On Your Grave', Methane was signed in 2016 by Sony's Dark Star Records. The band has also appeared on the soundtrack for Scottish mini series Metalhedz (S03E02 and S03E03) as well as the first ever E-Novel with music "How an Atomic Fart Saved The World". The song is from their album Wolves and the Hideous White which was released last year. The band commented:- "The urge to belong can be overwhelming, and we often sacrifice parts of ourselves to be with others. Still No Sun explores the failing of relations through the eyes of one who knows it should end, despite the desperate urge to remain. The unearthing feelings of loneliness, and haunting images of a life in solitude can be blinding when it comes to logical thought. I often wonder if it is genuinely possible to deceive yourself completely, or is there always a part that knows, and is the relief of separation worth it?" Watch to: https://player.believe.fr/v2/3616401028849 The band in collaboration with Inside Brain Music, are pleased to present their GERMAN & ITALIAN TOUR 2019 supporting the German Rock'n'Metal band Grimgod! Extinction is a thrash death metal band formed in 1995 in Puglia (Italy) by Massimo Muci (vocals), Danilo Bonuso (guitar), Daniele Greco (guitar), Giuseppe de Benedittis (bass) and Tonio Latino (drums). In November 1996 the band released their demo "Progress Regress" including 5 tracks, recorded at the Pure Rock Studios in Brindisi. Their style is characterized by a balanced mix of death and thrash metal, influenced by bands like Pantera, Sepultura, Metallica, Pestilence, Morbid Angel etc. Subsequent reviews of music magazines are more than positive. Especially Metal Hammer Italy praises their music for the mix of styles and declares them as "Blind Guardian of death metal" referring to the song "Evil's Revenge". When singer Massimo Muci left the band in 1997, guitarist and vocalist Danilo decided to move to Turin and in consequence of that, the band split up. Seventeen years later in 2014, Danilo reformed the band in Turin with Alice Darkpeace (vocals), Jacopo Farcito (bass) and Alberto Scrivano (drums). The new Extinction debuts at Rocking Universe Metal Fest in September 2014, followed by numerous concerts, with international bands like Necrodeath, Game Over, Materia, Onslaught, Mindwars, Node etc. After Jacopo (bass) had left the band in February 2015, Marco Vicenza became the new bassist in march of the same year. During this period Luca Maggi accompanied the band on second guitar for a short time. In May 2015 - almost 20 years after the demo Progress Regress - Extinction released a new single called "Conspirators". In the same year Marco "Hellfire" Campanati joins the band as permanent second guitarist, following Luca, who left the band in December. In April 2016, vocalist Alice Darkpeace appears on the TV show "Italia's Got Talent", demonstrating her growling skills. This event was quite important for the band, in as much as it helped them gain popularity. Besides, growling was never performed on Italian television before. On 30 April 2017, the band released the debut album "The Monarch Slaves" with the German label Unholy Fire Records; after the same titled promo video! The album is available in CD, limited CD digipak, limited tape edition and digital download! In August 2018 the band crosses the national borders playing in Hanover (Germany) and in Serbia at the Rock Village Festival in Banatski Sokolac. In October 2018, Alice leaves the band due to disagreements and at its place comes Filippo Collaro. Between April and May 2019, the band recorded the new album in Davide Billia's Mk2 Studio (Anthropofagus, Beheaded, etc.). In June 2019 bassist Marco will also be replaced by Lorenzo Catolla, also by Silenti Luna. With the new line-up, in July of the same year, the band signs the contract with the renowned Italian label Revalve Records. The label is preparing the band's second LP, Heavenly Skies, for release this fall. Additionally, Crepuscle will support new labelmates Light This City on their tour through the Southwest US this week. Following their initial demo in 2013, Crepuscle - a reference to the time of day immediately following sunset - independently released their debut full-length, Draconian Winter, the following year to critical acclaim, including a sponsorship from ESP Guitars. The band's epic and intense songs blend elements of melodic death metal and symphonic, orchestral finesse, delivering excellent songwriting and instantly infectious movements in the vein of Wintersun, Hypocrisy, Kalmah, and Insomnium. After a five-year wait, the band is now ready to unveil their long-awaited second album, Heavenly Skies. The members of Crepuscle proclaim of the signing:- "We could not be more thrilled to join forces with Creator-Destructor Records and contribute our symphonic metal stylings to their incredibly diverse roster. We have admired mastermind Ben Murray's work with the label and Light This City for years, so we are honoured to be working with a seasoned veteran who believes in our vision and is as eager to help us spread our music as far as possible. We are ready to unleash Heavenly Skies to the world and could not have asked for better allies to help us in this endeavour." The track listing for Crepuscle's Heavenly Skies and its cover art by German artist Aerroscape have been posted. Creator-Destructor will release the album on October 11th. Watch for new updates including audio premieres, pre-orders, and more to be posted in the days ahead. In the meantime, stream the band's Draconian Winter debut album at Bandcamp HERE and see the dual-guitar play-through video for "In All Its Majesty" from that album at ESP's website HERE. This week, fans in the Southwest US can catch Crepuscle performing material from the impending album as they support Light This City on a tour through the region. CREPUSCLE w/ Light This City: 7/31/2019 Rebel Lounge - Phoenix, AZ 8/01/2019 Rock House - El Paso, TX 8/02/2019 Vibes Underground - San Antonio, TX 8/03/2019 Boozers Rock Bar - Corpus Christi, TX 8/04/2019 Dirty Dog Bar - Austin, TX 8/05/2019 The White Swan Live - Houston, TX Crepuscle first came to fruition in the spring of 2006 under the name Draconian Winter in Redwood City, California. The members during that era, aged fourteen through eighteen, began writing rudimentary songs while trying to find their sound. The intent was always to write honest metal that they themselves wanted to listen to. As a result, the Silent Reverie EP was self-released and the band began playing live regularly, while also experiencing various hiatuses, setbacks, and drastic line-up changes. Through much trial and error, founding member Eligio Tapia gradually honed-in on what would become the sound of Crepuscle. The lineup changed so much over time until Tapia was the only founding member that remained. He decided that the Draconian Winter title no longer seemed appropriate. It was time for a new chapter, so the remaining members of the band all agreed that the best way to do that would be by changing the name. In order to pay tribute to the previous era, it was decided that the debut album would be called Draconian Winter. The recording process for their debut album began in the autumn of 2010. The songs written during the Draconian Winter-era were refined and, in some cases, rewritten to showcase the more mature sound that had been developed. Crepuscle turned to Ryan Alvarado to produce the album. Over the next four years, the band and Alvarado worked tirelessly on the album. Despite scheduling conflicts, technical difficulties, and personal struggles, everyone forged ahead with a common goal: to create the best album they possibly could, unwilling to compromise until this goal was achieved. Backed by Gavin DeVaughn on bass, Aaron Robitsch on Keyboards, JB Schuler on drums, and Cameron Stucky on guitar, Tapia and the rest of Crepuscle are ready to spread their music to every corner of the world. According to founder Doedsadmiral, the decision to change labels was originally a question of practicality as much as anything else: "We worked very well with Osmose Productions on our first two albums, and we have no complaints at all, indeed, they were instrumental in making those albums so successful, but we really wanted to work with a local label where we would be able to drop into their offices whenever we had anything to discuss. We had a good discussion with Indie and they came up with the right package and, very importantly to us, a way or working that suited Nordjevel, so here we are - ready for the next stage of the band's development." Being a band that is quite prolific in the production of videos, there is, needless to say, a new one on the horizon, which will be for the track "The Fevered Lands" from Nordjevel's album "Necrogenesis", which was released on Osmose Productions earlier this year. A teaser for the video, which includes a welcome message from Indie, can be seen at https://youtu.be/Cfh77fPhfis Having just finished a 23-date tour supporting Belphegor and Suffocation, Nordjevel is once again set to hit road in June in support of Possessed on their "Devils Over Europe" tour. Routing as follows: 06th June: The Underworld, London (UK) 07th June: Baroeg, Rotterdam (NL) 08th June: Metropool, Enshede (NL) 10th June: Nuke Club, Berlin (DE) 12th June: Old Capitol, Langethal (SE) 14th June: Traffic Club, Rome (IT) 15th June: Slaughter Club, Milan (IT) 16th June: Boveda, Barcelona (ES) 17th June: Caracol, Madrid (ES) 18th June: RCA Club Lisbon (PT) 19th June: Hard Club, Porto (PT) Additionally Nordjevel will be appearing at the Wacken Open Air and Brutal Assault festivals in August. After playing an extensive European tour with Turisas and Trollfest in support of their latest studio album 'Kulkija' ('Wanderer'), the band is about to kick off an 8-show Australian & New Zealand run (w/ Troldhaugen) tomorrow. But before the sextet continues their current touring cycle with a North American co-headline tour with their label mates in Eluveitie in September/October, Korpiklaani will perform a string of European festival gigs. In anticipation of these upcoming summer dates - starting at Metalfest Open Air, Pilsen (CZ) on June 2nd - the band has unleashed a brand new lyric video for the Czech version of their all-time favourite 'Beer Beer', which can also be found on the tour edition of 'Kulkija'. Check out 'Bír Bír' [ft. Fleret] over on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4drIAMzV7qg Fleret comments:- "The cooperation with Korpiklaani on the Czech version of their hit song 'Beer Beer (Bír Bír)' convinced us that even folk metal superstars like them can be nice guys with stellar manners. Not only did they prove this during the rehearsal at the Masters Of Rock Café in Zlín but also on the Masters Of Rock 2018 festival stage where we played with them after only one rehearsal of their song 'Vodka', our song 'Vizovice' and then - we believe we can say - our common song 'Beer Beer (Bír Bír)' with the Czech lyrics of our lyricist Jan Mrlík. That was a remarkable and exciting experience for us and hopefully for Korpiklaani as well. Korpiklaani, thanks to all of you!" The track will be available digitally from Friday, May 24! The song represents the first new material from the New Zealand based metal trio since releasing their 2018 debut album, Tū. Fans can check out the music video for "Ahi Kā" via the link below. The track is also featured on Adult Swim's new, streaming-only compilation record Metal Swim 2. Alien Weaponry's singer-guitarist Lewis de Jong talks about "Ahi Ka" (Which, like many of the band's songs, is sung in New Zealand's indigenous language of Te Reo Māori):- "Ahi Kā was inspired by the Auckland city council's decision to burn down what was considered to be the unsightly indigenous Maori village of Okahu Bay in advance of Queen Elizabeth II's 1953 visit. The eviction sparked a 40-year battle for the native Ngati Whatua to reclaim their land, including protests and battles with the police. Amid worldwide criticism, a small portion of the original land was ultimately returned with an apology and some compensation." Watch "Ahi Ka" HERE "Ahi Kā" is available for streaming and purchase through Spotify and iTunes (respectively) over HERE! Fans and music critics alike have applauded the band's approach to unifying Te Reo Māori (the native language of New Zealand) with thrash metal sensibilities; ultimately creating a sound that is driven by emotionally and politically charged conflict while boasting youthful, warrior-like resilience. Both Lewis and Henry are of Ngati Pikiāo and Ngati Raukawa (Māori tribal) descent, and began their schooling at a kura kaupapa Māori (full immersion Māori language school) where singing waiata (songs) and performing haka were a daily routine. Also ingrained in their early education were stories of New Zealand history told to them by their father, who would also introduce them to the music of Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Anthrax, Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others. Alien Weaponry was formed in 2010 by brothers Lewis (vocals & guitar) and Henry de Jong (drums), who were 8 and 10 years old at the time. The two would later move to the small town of Waipu in 2012, and went on to meet Ethan Trembath (bass) there in 2013. The de Jong brothers came up with the name Alien Weaponry after watching the film District 9. Alien Weaponry have also been nominated for "Best International Breakthrough Band" at the 2019 Heavy Music Awards (UK). The event takes place on August 22nd at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. Fan voting is now open at https://vote.heavymusicawards.com/ until June 27th.
