Turkey isn't a country synonymous with metal, however from the backstreets of Istanbul five young gentlemen have been creating noise and after two singles and an EP, are now on the cusp of releasing their debut full length We Are Nothing. Signing to UK label Hostile Media recently, Grapes In The Mouth are pleased to reveal the first glimpse into what they've been working on for almost two years. "The recording process was challenging." states vocalist Barkın Ege Tekkökoğlu. The band, like many others have taken inspiration from their own life experiences but in creating We Are Nothing found a way to speak universally. "As human beings we see ourselves in the centre of the universe, we are not. We Are Nothing embraced that kind of perspective. To expand, while we rage like lightning or have hope on the next sun rising, Polaris (The North Star) stays where it is and has led our way throughout history... The album has 13 songs, each with a symbol. These symbols are linked to song’s lyrical content and meaning. We used naturally occurring events and natural elements in symbols to emphasise the power of the universe and our weakness... essentially saying... we are nothing." The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in our guitarists, Serdost Gezgin, studio, DDos Studios. Turkish Black Metallers Undoer to have debut EP physically released through Sun & Moon Records31/5/2019 Sun & Moon Records sets June 25th as the international release date for Undoer's striking debut EP, Survival is a Myth, on CD format. Undoer hail from Turkey, and formed in 2017. Soon, they set to work on their first public recording, the three-song/22-minute Survival is a Myth EP. Mature beyond the band's meagre year of existence, Survival is a Myth was a shock-wave of sleek and scathing black metal, brimming with a startlingly amount of violence and dynamics in equal measure. Initially self-released digitally, Undoer's first recording was so exceedingly accomplished, Sun & Moon simply had to release it on a physical format, and thus endeavoured to bring the band into their proudly exclusive stable. Alas, the international metal underground shall now witness the fire, fury, and furore of Undoer as Survival is a Myth is unleashed on a worldwide scale. The EP is ominously titled: experiencing the unhinged 'n' undulating attack of Undoer is not so much a matter of listening as it is survival, for the power-trio overload the listener's circuitry was a barrage of tense 'n' terrorizing decibels. And yet, this isn't (ultra)violence for its own sake; there's a wealth of texture and nuance coursing beneath the rotten, rusty gleam of their razor-bladed onslaught, a remarkably advanced grasp of songwriting and sound detail. As such, Undoer exhibit a palatable modern aspect to their black metal, unshackling themselves from the regressive tethers of the past - although, if one has to make references, the Moonfog school of future-shock black metal around the turn of the millennium is a favourable one, to say the very least. The past has already happened, its paths blazed and burned away. Now only lies the way forward, and there Undoer begin a new path with Survival is a Myth. One EP and two albums in, their energetic mix of electronic energy and modern, contemporary heaviness is unique in today’s music scene. Their newest effort benefits from a strict DIY-attitude - as the band took over every part of it’s production without outside influences. Have you prepared your vocal cords to sing along to the catchy, clean melodies and beastly growls on the level of Erra? The much awaited debut full-length studio album by Sails of Serenity has finally arrived! Comparisons aside, this is one album you're not going to want to pass up this year as the band presents their unique spin on progressive metalcore. The Crossing is now available worldwide via Famined Records. With previous singles like "Left Behind" and "Shipwrecked" premiering through Metal Injection and New Noise Magazine, we're excited to be exclusively premiering the stream for the entire album now through The Noise, or grab your copy here. Vocalist Selim Devirek expresses his enthusiasm towards this release:- "It's incredibly exciting for us to be releasing our first LP because we poured our hearts in it and we've been waiting for people to hear this for over a year. It's strange and somewhat scary to open our hearts to the people we've never met but at the same time we can't wait for people to hear it and feel the way we do. The Crossing is a passage through a new sound of Sails of Serenity and a passage through a new life for each member. We really feel that we've grown and turned into different people from when we were formed and we keep growing so our music keeps evolving with us. That is why this album feels so special for us and hopefully it will feel as special to the listeners." Sails of Serenity is a group from Istanbul, Turkey consisting of vocalist Selim Devirek, guitarist Sercan Alkin, guitarist Harun Sekmen, and drummer Alter Güven. Their musical style merges djenty grooves with catchy vocal melodies all packaged together in an aggressive metalcore package. Apart from the aforementioned bands, fans of Born of Osiris, Architects, and Northlane will definitely enjoy what Sails of Serenity has to offer. The band has previously released the Gold to Rust EP and "The Bitter End" single in 2016. The Crossing was mixed and mastered by Gabor Toth (Harmed) at Ghostship Recordings (Beyond Deviation, Swallowed Alive, Bloodbather). In addition to the guest appearance by Furtherial's Başer Çelebi on previous released single "Left Behind," the opening piece on the album will include orchestration by Eren Başbuğ (Dream Theater). The band has continued such momentum towards the release of their next single "Shipwrecked." - Stream "Shipwrecked" here Sails of Serenity solidify their heavy and in-your-face rampage mixed with melodic bliss identity on this new track. If you're into the djenty deathcore intensity alike After the Burial or the progcore impact of Northlane, "Shipwrecked" is the perfect headbanger for you. The gut-wrenching piece was premiered by the talented writers at New Noise Magazine. Vocalist Selim Devirek states about the song:- "Lyrics to 'Shipwrecked' reflects how I was feeling during the writing session and I still am sometimes: sinking. At that time, all my goals and dreams seemed like they were going further and further away from me and I was really depressed to be unable to do anything about it. So I pictured myself as a sinking ship. It is written as a story told by a ship, torn apart by a storm, and is undertow. It sees its own parts floating and sinking but helpless to do anything. Eventually, it accepts its fate and lets itself hit the bottom. It accepts that it will always be torn apart as the closing line reads: 'A shipwreck I will, I will always be'." The band's upcoming ten song debut LP The Crossing includes the "Shipwrecked" single as well as previously released tracks such as "Left Behind," "Castaway," and "The Ghost Ship." The album will drop worldwide on August 17th. Coincidentally, this was the first release under the newly-formed Dark Descent Records banner. The initial pressing of this CD sold out quickly as the band's brand of doomy, crypt-dwelling death metal was infectious as it was blistering. Mixing elements of Finnish death metal among other influences, Burial Invocation followed up the debut EP the next year on the well-received split 7" with Japan's Anatomia. This split, also released on Dark Descent Records, quickly sold out. The band eventually followed these releases with some memorable live appearances including the initial version of Copenhagen's legendary Kill Town Death Fest. In the years since, the band was inactive as members pursued other projects and interests. There were rumblings from the band including small European tour runs and we were largely left to wonder what happened to Burial Invocation? In 2017, the fires were lit once more as the band were said to be working on a new album. Once again under the Dark Descent Records banner (vinyl via long-time ally Me Saco Un Ojo), Abiogenesis sees this Turkish crew reign once more. No longer will we be left wondering... The exclusive premiere of the single was hosted by Metal Injection and SpaceUntravel. Regarding the new single, the band stated:- "Inspired by Captain Ahab's story from Moby Dick, 'Left Behind' tells us about a man, estranged to himself by his convictions; a man left behind in a sense. This is symbolized in the music video as a man left alone in an island." They continued: "Being a part of the Famined Records family is a new and exciting step for us. With 'Left Behind' and our upcoming album The Crossing, we believe that we will achieve our main goal to make our music heard by people all around the world." On September 1st 2017, Pitch Black Process performed at kRock Festival in Kherson – Ukraine. The official video footage for “Toy Soldier / Oyuncak Asker” from their show, can be seen here: https://youtu.be/oHB80ojHQOk Pitch Black Process (formerly known as Affliction) was formed in 1999. Their first two albums “One Reality” (out in May 2003) and “Execution is Necessary” (released in July 2007) got very good response nationwide and also from abroad. In November 2009 they hit the road for their first European tour playing over 20 gigs (being the longest tour which any Turkish band had ever made abroad until then), followed up by the 18-shows European tour with Warbringer, in February 2010. Before the tour with Warbringer, Pitch Black Process signed a sponsorship deal with one of the most well-known guitar companies in the world, PRS, which was another ‘debut’ for Turkey. None of any Turkish bands had signed a sponsorship agreement with such a big brand in music industry. The 3rd album “Hand of God?” was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Soilwork, etc) at Dugout Studios, came out in June 2013. In September 2013, Pitch Black Process played on main stage at the 82nd Izmir International Fair, being the first ever metal band to play on the fair’s history. In 2015, Pitch Black Process became part of EVH and Fender. In November 2015 the band returned to Dugout Studios to record their 4th album, “Derin” which was released in December 2016, in Turkey on Atlantis Yapim/EMP Label Group and on Ellefson Music Productions/SPV in Europe.
