Denmark's Taphos sets release date for debut album; reveals first tracks, to tour with Degial in May4/4/2018 Blood Harvest Records and Helter Skelter Productions set June 8th as the international release date for Taphos' highly anticipated debut album, Come Ethereal Somberness, on CD and 12" vinyl formats. Hot on the heels of Blood Harvest's compilation of the band's first two recordings as Demo MMXVI & 7" EP MMXVII, garnering widespread acclaim and heightening anticipation for their first full-length, at last arrives Taphos' Come Ethereal Somberness. As a debut LP, Come Ethereal Somberness does everything it should: stay consistent to a band's sound established on their demos whilst pointing toward new avenues. Here, Taphos do both, and then some. Hailing from the same Danish scene as Undergang and Phrenelith, Taphos create a classic - and classically gutted - style of Metal of Death. Their first recording, Demo MMXVI, possessed a darkly thrashing sound highly reminiscent of turn-of-the-'90s death metal on both sides of the Atlantic, as resolutely Scandinavian as it was American, its filthy propulsion as palatably fresh as it was authentically ancient. On the subsequent two-song EP, Taphos' sound becomes more world-eating, their songwriting aims more epic whilst not losing the raw fury of their beginnings. Now, with Come Ethereal Somberness, they synthesize the two stylistic shifts into something both berzerker and epic, manic and finesse in equal measures. Indeed, Taphos are firing on all songwriting cylinders here, as the energy literally bursts off the charts but retains a sense of composure and daresay class rarely scene in full-blooded death metal. Hammering and hideous yet nevertheless invoking a clarity that never castrates their attack, the quartet render each of these seven central compositions (bookended by moody instrumentals) a story unto itself. Hell, the titles themselves tell that story - "Ocular Blackness," "Insidious Gyres," and the equally telltale "Thrive in Upheaval" and "Impending Peril" among them - and that story is horrific. New nightmares are here, then, and Taphos will be taking them on the road with a full European tour this May alongside Swedish comrades Degial (dates after the jump). Until then, as its title ominously proclaims, Come Ethereal Somberness! Hear two new tracks off the album, the aforementioned "Thrive in Upheaval" and "Impending Peril" HERE at Blood Harvest's Bandcamp. Pre-order info can be found HERE. Oh wow! Back in 2008, Alestorm were mere newcomers and beginners - and yet they created a modern metal classic and a completely new subgenre. Captain Morgan`s Revenge marks the birth of Pirate Metal as we know it today and turned a couple of young Scotsmen into the hottest band the modern metal scene has to offer! Ten years later and sold-out shows all over the world, their boozy debut gets its well-deserved anniversary treatment and will be re-released on January 26th 2018 with Napalm Records! Captain Morgan`s Revenge – 10th Anniversary Edition has received a fresh remix and remastering by original producer Lasse Lammert at his LSD studios and will be coming with a rejuvenated artwork. Alongside the 'Live At Summer Breeze' bonus disc, this re-release will be a true gem for all collectors, new fans and nostalgics alike! The pirates about their upcoming Anniversary Edition: "Oh wow! Can't believe it's been 10 years already since we made this record. We were all terrible musicians back then, and it was only thanks to the immense skill of our producer Lasse Lammert that we managed to salvage a passable bunch of songs. But anyway, it seems a bunch of you people seemed to like this album, so we decided to give it a bit of spit and polish for the 10th anniversary. NO, this is not one of those shitty 'brickwall' remasters that some bands do, and NO, this is not a re-recording by a bunch of disinterested and jaded old musicians. We've taken the original multitrack source material from 10 years ago (bad playing, cheap keyboards, awful vocals and everything), and just re-mixed the whole album to be punchier, tighter, more dynamic, and more sonically delightful than before. You probably won't even notice the difference! But it's there. And it'll sound awesome on vinyl, for the first time ever!" Captain Morgan`s Revenge – 10th Anniversary Edition, coming as CD digi pack, LP gatefold and digital download, is now available for pre-order HERE!

The opus will be available in digital format, CD digipak and gatefold vinyl options and is now available for pre-order HERE! The band recently unveiled initial album details and the album’s artwork, an obscure drawing from 1898 by perhaps the greatest Norwegian artist of all time, Edvard Munch. Recorded in Oslo, Norway and Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together with revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on Satyricon’s 2006 album, ‘Now, Diabolical’), ‘Deep calleth upon Deep’ is not just a new collection of songs from one of extreme music’s most enduring and reliable bands: this is a wholesale reinvention and a brand new era in Satyricon history. Says frontman and visionary Satyr: “Approaching this release, what I always kept in mind is that either this is the beginning of something new or it’s gonna be my last record. If this is going to be the last, then it needs to be something special. If there are more records, then I’d better make sure that this is so different from the last one that it feels like a new beginning. I think it’s really, really dark, very spiritual and filled with confidence and energy.” 'Deep calleth upon Deep' is a profound statement about the essence of Satyricon’s music and the eternal value of art itself. Satyr continues, “The way that I see it is that for any art, be it Satyricon or any other form of art with substance, in order for you to be able to inhale and completely understand it, it will take a little bit of you as well. If you get it all after a couple of listens, you know that it probably won’t stay with you. So the title is saying, ‘From the depth of the people making this record to the depth of the listener…’ If you want to take part in this journey, you should be prepared to dig deep down in the darkest corner of your soul with us." Satyricon have always excelled as a live band, their evocative performances increasingly becoming special events as their frequency is dialled back to accommodate the Oslo band’s new ‘modus operandi’. In support of 'Deep calleth upon Deep' the band is set to tour on the following dates: 24.09.17 DE - Hamburg / Grünspan 25.09.17 DE - Essen / Turock 26.09.17 NL - Tilburg - 013 27.09.17 BE - Vosselaar / Biebob 29.09.17 UK - London / Heaven 30.09.17 FR - Paris / La Maroquinerie 01.10.17 FR - Nantes - MJC De Reze 02.10.17 FR - Toulouse / Le Metronum 04.10.17 ES - Madrid / Sala But 05.10.17 ES - Barcelona / Razzamatazz 06.10.17 FR – Montpellier / Rockstore 07.10.17 IT - Bologna / Zona Roveri 09.10.17 CH - Zurich / Dynamo 10.10.17 DE - Munich / Backstage Halle 11.10.17 AT - Vienna / Szene 12.10.17 CZ - Prague / Akropolis 14.10.17 PL - Krakow / Kwadrat 15.10.17 PL - Warsaw / Progresja 16.10.17 DE - Berlin / SO36 17.10.17 DK - Copenhagen / Pumpehuset 19.10.17 DK - Aarhus / Train 20.10.17 SE - Gotherburg / Pustervik 21.10.17 SE - Stockholm / Klubben 31.10.17 MX - Guadalajara / C3 Stage 01.11.17 MX - Mexico City / Circo Volador 02.11.17 CR - San Jose / Pepper’s Club 07.11.17 CL - Santiago / Blondie 08.11.17 AR - Buenos Aires / Uniclub 10.11.17 BR - Belo Horizonte / Stonehenge 11.11.17 BR - Sao Paulo / Clash Club 12.11.17 BR - Rio De Janeiro / Teatro Oddiseia 22.11.17 NO - Molde / Gamle Kulturset 23.11.17 NO - Trondheim / Byscenen 24.11.17 NO - Oslo / Sentrum Scene 25.11.17 NO - Tromso / Driv 29.11.17 NO - Bergen / Hulen 30.11.17 NO - Stavanger / Folken 01.12.17 NO - Kristiansand / Kick 02.12.17 NO - Hamar / Gregers www.satyricon.no www.facebook.com/satyriconofficial www.napalmrecords.com www.facebook.com/napalmrecords After being temporarily off the listeners' radars, Russian melodic heavy metallers Descenery are back with their debut LP, "Stillborn Monolith", which was self-released on July 1st, 2017. The band's debut offers a combination of heavy and melodic death metal, presenting also elements from other genres. The complete list is as follows: - Dag Swano (Nightingale); - Ragnar Widerberg (Witherscape, ShadowQuest); - Mick Armstrong (Atma Weapon); - Sebastian Nadjer (HellHaven); - Anastasia Mescheryakova (Mescheryakova, ex-Gospel Tramp); - Igor Plotnikov (The World Within); - Dario Guarino (Aged Teen, Nameless Crime) - Emily Highfield (Suldusk); - Phil Romeo (Countless Skies); - Stephan Kobiakin (Finding Sanity, ex-Summoned Hell, ex-A Dream Of Poe). Daria Kirianova is responsible for the artwork, and the lyrics for one of the tracks («A Man, Anew») were written by Amari Satsu from Khabarovsk. Mikhail Myshalov, who is mostly known for his cooperation with Sergei Tabachnikov, did the mixing and mastering. Set for self-release on 12th May, vocalist Antony Jones states: “It’s about overcoming obstacles and chasing what your goals are. The artwork represents the journeys that people can take within their own thoughts, without looking like a self-help book cover.” As an insight into the four tracker, the band are also streaming the title track here, with Jones explaining: “We decided to lead with Dreamcatcher as it’s the best representation of the EP as a whole. Lyrically, it focuses on making changes to your life and bettering yourself, whilst the music has pretty much all of the elements of the EP: heavy riffs, vocal hooks, solos and a breakdown for good measure.” Rosen Bridge, completed by Eddie Edwards and Marcus Williams on Guitar, Rowan Jack on Drums and William Roberts on Bass duties, are named after a synonym for worm holes. As a somewhat tongue-in-cheek reference, they class themselves as ‘spiritually driven metal’, which ultimately boils down to wanting to spread a message of positivity, something often not found in heavy music. “Our music is heavily influenced by our experiences in battling mental health issues. We want to motivate people to talk to us and each other and share their own experiences. We want people to be inspired to move against their pain and be the best person that they can be. We have all had experiences with living through highs and lows and the music that has inspired us in these times is the music that motivates us to change for the better,” comments Jones. For ‘Dreamcatcher’, the follow-up to debut ‘Entropy’, the band set out to create a record that would “make people feel great”. Laying down the release with John Mitchell at Outhouse Studios, the members slept in one van and commuted to the studio each day, ready to work hard. Thankfully they are pleased with the product: “The new release tries to focus more on keeping a consistent groove, with the soulful vocal hooks from the first EP. We still kept some more complex sections, but really wanted to develop our style to have a more varied sound with heavy and lighter moments. We hope that this material will yield more live 'sing-a-long' chorus moments mixed in with the big, heavy riffs as well.” If you like Issues, Volumes & Northlane, then we are positive Rosen Bridge are for you - and you should catch them on the road this May: Rosen Bridge Live (more dates to be announced):

Their previously announced 10 date UK tour in January 2017 includes 2 nights at London’s 02 Arena. Tickets are priced £45 / £37.50 regionally and £45 / £37.50 / £30 for London via www.livenation.co.uk and www.ticketmaster.co.uk. The band’s last visit was in 2013 for a sold out arena tour plus an awe inspiring headline slot at Download Festival in June 2014 which cemented their unshakable reputation for breath-taking live performances. Avenged Sevenfold recently played a groundbreaking live 360 Virtual Reality gig on the roof of Capitol Records in LA after which they surprised fans with the announcement that their new album ‘The Stage’ – their first for Capitol Records - would be available that night. Previously they had made headlines with the release of the title track, co-produced by the band and Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool) AND a companion video directed by Chris Hopewell (Radiohead, The Killers). The latter has already amassed well over TEN million YouTube views – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBYVlFXsEME The Stage is a work of immense scope and ambition, featuring 11 panoramic tracks tied together by an Artificial Intelligence theme. Inspired by the writings of Carl Sagan and Elon Musk, the album is the band’s first thematic release. While the term “AI” conjures up images of robots and fantasy films, the band steers clear of a science fiction storyline. Instead, the album sees them taking a futurist’s look at the accelerated rate at which technology’s intelligence is expanding and what that means—good and bad—for the future. The album’s epic 15-minute-plus closing track, “Exist,” features a guest appearance by award-winning astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson giving a spoken word performance he penned specifically for the album. Once again produced by Chris (Conan) Fielding, it was without doubt a whopping great slab of heaviness. Those who’ve investigated beyond the name, have already discovered that both the band and their music are deadly serious, and though MWWB may share sonic alliances with likes of Conan, Windhand and Yob, the many who tuned into their debut have discovered that MWWB don’t stick to the usual tropes, and are a unique proposition, with a sound all their own. The guitars are down-tuned to ‘Z,’ the guitar tone is tar thick and the riffs massive and full of hooks ... of course. But with the soaring, angelic, multi textured vocals of Jessica Ball, MWWB have added an extra dimension to what’s considered doom. Not your normal melodramatic dark chanteuse here pilgrims, more like MWWB’s secret weapon, a vein of crystal in the rock. In fact it’s a combination, which sounds both startling and often beautiful. Like if Liz Fraser had fronted Kyuss or Sleep ... though that’s too simplistic a comparison. Now the band are set to tour the UK in February 2017 with fellow expansive doom enthusiasts OHHMS. Greek melodic Power metal masters Firewind, the group led by guitar-wizard and Ozzy Osbourne band member Gus G., are proud to announce the release of their upcoming 8th studio album, 'Immortals', which will be released on January 20th, 2017 via the band’s long-time label partner Century Media Records in Europe. Gus G. checked in to comment about 'Immortals' and its artwork (which can be seen above!) as follows: “Today we're very happy to reveal the cover artwork for our 8th studio album. It's titled "Immortals" and it's the first concept album Firewind has ever made. Since we're from Greece, we thought it would be a cool idea to make a concept of Greek history and heritage. So, on this album we focused on the legendary battles of Thermopylae and Salamis during the 2nd Persian invasion of Greece in 480 BC. The artwork was once again created by our long-time collaborator, Gustavo Sazes and we feel it reflects the vibe we tried to capture on this album - Epic, Powerful, Glorious, Everlasting.” 'Immortals' marks the first time Firewind used an outside co-producer, working with Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69), who not only engineered, mixed and mastered the album, but also co-wrote it together with Gus G. Next to the standard jewel case CD and Digital Download formats, “Immortals” will also be released as LP on 180gr vinyl with a poster as well as the entire album on CD as bonus. Additionally, there will also be a limited edition Media-book CD with expanded booklet, a bonus track and 3 stickers. Look out for more details and pre-order details soon… A first album’s online single is set to debut on November 25th, but in the meantime you can already check out a few sample riffs in a play-through clip that Gus G. recorded in co-operation with Toontrack’s EZmix 2 and the Metal Guitar Gods 4 EZmix Pack expansion here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E7SFBKYVcU Gus G. and Toontrack have also launched a regular "Metal Month Masterclass" series of video lessons, of which the first two episodes can be seen here: 1.
