Irish dark metal band Darkest Era have released their emotive new single 'Wither On The Vine'. It's the third track to be taken from their stunning new album, Wither On The Vine, which is out now via Candlelight Records.
Guitarist Ade Mulgrew comments: "The song 'Wither On The Vine' pulls together many of the thematic threads across the album. It is inspired by the antithetical feeling of, on one hand, overwhelming despair at the social, political, and environmental realities of today, whilst simultaneously looking into the innocent eyes of childhood and wanting to maintain the illusion that there is only beauty in the world for as long as possible." Eight years have passed since Darkest Era’s last album, 2014’s Severance. In that time, the Northern Irish-centred band have undergone personal and personnel changes, while the world itself has entered its own new dark era. Now, they return with critically acclaimed third album, Wither On The Vine. Recorded at Wales’ legendary Foel Studios with producer Chris Fielding (Electric Wizard, Primordial, Winterfylleth, Witchsorrow), it finds the band exploring their shadowy take on the traditional heavy metal sounds of Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy, whilst incorporating elements of doom, black metal, blackgaze and anything else that casts a musical shadow. Expanding their horizons as to where their sound could go on Wither On The Vine, guitarist Ade Mulgrew says it could best be described as simply “dark metal”. Speaking on the album, Ade adds: "The album presents a bleak reflection of the world as it stands today; politically, socially, environmentally. Among themes of human tragedy and personal introspection, there are also songs touching on pagan spirituality, the Dionysian perspective and even gothic romance. Stylistically the album mixes black metal and doom metal elements with an almost classic rock sense of tone. We hope the album resonates with listeners seeking music with genuine power and emotional weight, pulling them into its dark visions." After a long absence, far from withering away, Darkest Era have returned as experts in their craft, and made a definitive dark metal statement. Progressive metalcore head-turners Invent Animate have dropped the video for their latest single "Elysium." Watch it here. The track cycles through multiple modes, textures, and layers — vacillating between intricate, slow, and downright pretty sonic passages before erupting with brutal riffage and nightmare-haunting vocals. It moves in fits and starts, and invites the listener to ride sidecar on a sonic thrill ride. Lyrically, the song dives deep into subject matter we can all relate to — grief. "When my grandfather got sick, I was a 15-year-old boy with no emotional grip on my world," offers vocalist Marcus Vik, pulling back the curtain on the song's inspiration and sharing how it helped him exorcise a personal demon he was dealing with. "We were close, but his sickness was something I didn't see. It might've been because I didn't want to see it or that I was too scared. When he passed, I didn't comprehend the mourning, I didn't feel it, and that made me feel shame. It took me 12 years to wake up one day and embrace it, and it hit me like a wave of odd emotions that I've never felt before. Grief is upon me and this is the story of me looking back, searching my inner self and looking forward." Earlier this year, Invent Animate released the new single "Shade Astray." Listen here. The quartet is hard at work on its forthcoming album, due out next year. The new material follows The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was EP, which arrived in 2021 and served as the band's UNFD debut. To date, the EP has tallied over 2 million streams. The 2020-released full-length Greyview has topped 10 million streams, as well. INVENT ANIMATE ARE:

With their modern and distinguishable sound, the young quartet now present their brand new single 'The Canyon' - watch the accompanying music video here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGdWgi1N7Is “The Canyon' tells a personal story of betrayal. I tried to put into words how much I needed forgiveness in order to process this feeling, which seemed like a never-ending canyon to climb”, vocalist Jonas Larsen explains. With roots in the small, Danish town Køge, three of the current band members united in 2015, playing club shows and writing demo material under the name Mosaik. With an ambition of solidifying their sound to a broader audience, the quartet changed their name to Hollow Hour. In 2022 the band has been releasing a string of singles while finishing up recording their coming debut EP with producers Claudio Andersen and Chris Kreutzfeldt (CABAL, Møl, Ghost Iris). The new single 'The Canyon' is already available on all streaming services. https://www.facebook.com/HollowHourMusic https://www.instagram.com/HollowHourMusic/ Skindred's new single 'Gimme That Boom' is out now - WATCH THE VIDEO HERE, the single is taken from the new album "Smile" due out Summer 2023. PRE-ORDER HERE “It’s the ultimate ragga-rocking, dancehall-shaking, dutty-winding, head-banging, horn-waving creation… yes party people the ’Dreds dem back!” – Benji Webbe, Skindred Next year, Skindred – one of the UK’s most exciting live acts and pioneers of Ragga Metal – celebrate their 25th anniversary with the release of their brand new album Smile, their eighth long-player and their first for Earache Records, with whom they signed a global four-album deal last year. Ahead of that comes the first single to be taken from Smile, the floor-quaking sonic blast that is ‘Gimme That Boom’. A hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners, ragga-metal anthem ‘Gimme That Boom’ deals with the selfish entitlement that’s become so prevalent in this age of instant gratification, based on a frustrating encounter lead singer Benji Webbe had with an overfamiliar fan. “I was out shopping one day and I could hear someone building up asking me for a picture,” the eye-catching frontman recalls. “The person didn’t care who I was with or what I was doing - they just wanted their picture. In this day and age, people want you and they expect to get you on tap, constantly giving you that ‘boom’ so they can get their Instagram Likes up. It’s important to remember that people can't give you that ‘boom’ all the time. People think because they follow you on social media, they own you.” Featuring a technicolour video, shot in the neon-lit wonderland that is God’s Own Junkyard in East London, ‘Gimme That Boom’ is an incessant earworm which gives Skindred’s legions of fans a first full flavour of what to expect from the upcoming album. The band did however tease another new track from it in their astounding set at Download Festival earlier this year when they debuted the pop-reggae masterpiece that is ‘L.O.V.E (Smile Please)’ and saw tens of thousands of rock fans skanking with delight in the sunshine. These two sides of the album, ranging from joy to rage and love to fury, suggest that Smile is going to be hailed as the band’s masterpiece; an album that brings together all facets of Skindred’s music – from reggae to metal, rock to pop, dub to electro – into the most mind-expanding and potent collection of songs, designed to melt stereos around the world when it’s released next summer. Skindred are currently on a massive European arena tour as special guests of Volbeat. The tour rolls into the UK and Ireland in December with dates as follows:
Skindred have also just been announced as next year’s headliners of both Dominion Festival in Durham May 7th and Takedown Festival in Portsmouth April 8th 2023. With their newest single “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” vocalist Capri’s angelic voice merges with electrifying soundscapes to transform this ABBA classic into a metal experience never heard before. The track comes with an exciting lyric video and is cut from their upcoming covers album, bringing world famous songs by the legendary ABBA into the metal world. Take A Chance – A Metal Tribute to ABBA will be released on December 2, 2022 via Napalm Records. Following their passion, this album pays tribute to one of their biggest inspirations and ushers in the dawn of an entirely new spin on the metal genre. Tuomas Seppälä on the new single: “This was an easy and obvious pick for this album. The song is a true masterpiece. It was easy to arrange into a metal version. For a while, I considered replacing the famous keyboard lead intro with guitar, but quite soon I wanted to keep the lead part played with keyboards. It gives more ABBA feeling to the song. Capri sings amazingly, once again. And for the very first time, we had a chance for our bassist to play slap bass in the middle part of the song. It's rarely heard in metal music.” Pre-order the new album NOW! In the following formats: 1 LP Gatefold Gold 1 CD - Digisleeve Digital Album Amberian Dawn are:-
Brazilian progressive death metallers Abstracted – whose sound blends the blistering technicality of acts such as Obscura and Necrophagist with moments evoking the progressive side of bands such as Opeth and The Faceless – have unveiled a new music video for their song “Wither to Dust” from their latest album, Atma Conflux. The new video can be viewed HERE - https://youtu.be/W_NskdxIlOg “The ‘Wither to Dust’ video shows a little about Atma Conflux's lore,” explains singer Rosano Matiussi. “We have this story about a man, who is the main character of our album, who after murdering his wife in a fire that he caused (unintentionally) gets into a battle between good and evil. He has the visualization of two tulpas (a being that is created in imagination through spiritual or mental power in Tibetan Buddhism). The tulpas represent good and evil, good being the solar tulpa while bad is represented as the lunar tulpa. They follow him through his mental suffering and guide him through his redemption, where he's comforted by the solar tulpa and gets his retrieval. We shot the story part at our drummer's house, and the band part at a hall in Cotia, a small city near São Paulo, Brazil. Movilabe was the team that recorded all the scenes, and they put special attention on choosing the correct camera and gear to get the best result for our idea. We hope everyone to enjoys the video and gets more into the Atma Conflux's storyline.” Abstracted took their name from a song by Swedish melodic death metal greats Scar Symmetry. Influences from other European acts such as Gojira and Edge of Sanity, American bands such as Allegaeon and Between The Buried And Me, and genre giants such as Death and Coroner all formed the basis for the sound that the band explored on their thrilling 2015 debut EP, Ophidian. The group continued to build their name in the years that followed while balancing scholastic pursuits with live appearances on festivals throughout their native country. Abstracted began working on their debut full-length, Atma Conflux with continued writing, crafting, and producing the record throughout 2019 and 2020. The new album sees the group integrating synthesizers and orchestral keyboards into their already-expansive sound. Previous videos from Atma Conflux were revealed earlier this year including “Between Samsara and Samadhi” https://youtu.be/VU1zTDIFbw4 and “Decree of Sunlight” (featuring guest vocals by Mike Semesky (Raunchy, Interloper)) https://youtu.be/msJX0ZQzeiM Atma Conflux is available in stores, online or order direct all at www.smarturl.com/abstracted Abstracted are:
Finnish melodic death metal band Admire the Grim is set to release their debut EP Rogue Five on January 13th 2023 via Inverse Records. The first single Rogue Five was released earlier with a music video. The second single The Flood is released today and it's available on all essential streaming platforms: https://push.fm/fl/atg-flood Vocalist Katri Snellman comments on The Flood Single: “The Flood was the first song that we wrote together. Jani came up with the idea for the instruments and I wrote the vocal and lyric lines. The lyrics are about the feeling of drowning into your own thoughts, described with a lot of metaphors”. Guitarist Jani Loikkanen comments on Rogue Five Single: “My goal was to write a song that has a catchy chorus and lead parts. There’s good energy and spirit for a sweet party. I wrote the intro riff first and that set the song up for a fast paced guitar riffage. And to be honest, this is definitely a song for guitar maniacs”.
Admire the Grim is a melodic death metal band from Lappeenranta, Finland. The group was formed by five friends in early 2021. In May 2022 the band released its first single ‘Storm the Barricade’ and in September 2022 music video and single for ‘Rogue Five’ saw the daylight. In November 2022 the second single ‘The Flood’ from ‘Rogue Five’ EP was released and the EP itself is published on January 2023 via Inverse Records. Line-up:

Stream here: https://li.sten.to/vob-pms 'PMS', short for perempuan merdeka seutuhnya ("completely independent women") is an anthem for the ages. The single celebrates women who are breaking stereotypes and boundaries in all forms. The origin of 'PMS' came from conditions close to Voice Of Baceprot's background, when the band members still lived in their village in rural Indonesia. A conservative community, there are few career options for women after school - by choosing a career in music, Voice Of Baceprot have been marked by some as an anomaly or rebel in their community. 'PMS' is then a solidarity call for all women who face the same problems but march on regardless, to keep doing what they love. The new single cements the group's position as one of the most exciting musical voices from Southeast Asia, and follows their huge performance at Wacken Open Air 2022, among other European festivals this summer. The all-female trio Voice Of Baceprot have made headlines globally with their music, a fresh take on metal, rap-rock, and funk metal. Formed in 2014 in school in rural Indonesia, the three schoolgirls - Marsya (vocals and guitar), Widi (bass), andSitti (drums) - aged 14, began a musical revolution. Initially drawn to covers of System Of A Down, Rage Against The Machine, Metallica, and Slipknot among others, Voice Of Baceprot soon found their unique authentic voice. True to their name, given 'Baceprot' in Sundanese translates as 'loud'.Voice Of Baceprot's debut video, 2018's 'School Revolution', their thrash-funk metal amalgam, has gathered nearly two million views. It is a searing track, raising awareness about the inequality of education, and helped fully stamp VOB's name on the global map. Since then, the group have gone from strength to strength, releasing follow up singles 'God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music', and 2022's '[NOT] PUBLIC PROPERTY'. Since their formation, Voice Of Baceprot's Marsya, Sitti, and Widi have been using their music to build their voices as activists and to raise awareness of the violations of women's rights globally. Their activism is only increasing and becoming more powerful as the trio age. This is reflected in the single '[NOT] PUBLIC PROPERTY', released in conjunction with the WoW Foundation and Indonesian crowdfunding platform Kitabisa to collect donations for victims of sexual violence and abuse. American metallers Malus Dextra have signed with Wormholedeath for their EP "III, Pt.1", due for release on November 25th, 2022. This is what the band had to say:- "We are extremely excited for the next growth chapter through the signing with WormholeDeath, we feel this was the right step for us currently and are looking forward to our future together. When it comes to the upcoming release its crazy to think about, being an underground band self-funded in everything we have done to date here we are making yet another album, Malus Dextra III is unlike any other album we have released thus far, we are dropping this as a multi-part release for the fans and to do what we do best, challenge the idea of norm. With part 1 we cut through the BS and give a raw delivery of how we feel, you could say this is almost a live album with the limited rehearsal, slide-in members, and no tied-down structure, all combined to make what we felt is the purest form of what we have to offer. Lyrically we dance around the board a little, but the essential theme is to question everyone and trust no one. There is so much divide in our country right now and even abroad, we try our best to break all the BS down to the individual and how we and countless others feel amidst all the global chaos and corruption. In short, Malus Dextra III is raw, it’s real, and it’s controlled chaos in its purest form." Malus Dextra hails from St. Louis, MO. where guitarist Justin Ruesch (former D-Railed/Brutal Harmony) resides, formed in 2017 after recruiting vocalist Wayne Allison (former A Strand of Fate/Victims of Life) with the intent to bring the world music that was not limited to boundaries of genre and subgenres. Although the core of the band is metal the music speaks to the masses for fans ranging from Killswitch Engage to Slayer to I Prevail, the two entered Encapsulated Studios to record the debut “Self-Titled” album, released Oct 31, 2017, and was supported with mid-west and upper east coast touring in 2018. The band's second full-length album titled “The Gate” was released Oct 31, 2020, supported by mid-west touring, followed by dual releases “Bangin Bionic Beats” a 6 song EP featuring tracks from both the “Self Titled” and “The Gate” remixed and reimagined by John McLucas from McLucas Studios (CA), and “A Somber Moment” a 6 song softer acoustic side from the artist recorded at Encapsulated Studios with producer/engineer Gabe Usery, both Eps released on Oct 31, 2021. Shortly before the recording of “A Somber Moment” the band welcomed two new members, Bassist Alex Smick (former Warheadd) and Guitarist Justin Keane (Blackdeth). 2022 Malus Dextra have once again stepped into Encapsulated Studios to record tracks for their 3rd full-length album titled “III” making this their 5th studio album released. The album is slated to be a multipart release with “Part 1” released in late 2022. “Tomorrow” the first single from the album released March 25th, 2022 on all streaming platforms.
