Hardcore punk / rap metal veterans Downset recently announced their highly-anticipated return with an upcoming performance at the revelled This Is Hardcore Festival in Philadelphia, PA on July 27th. Now, the band can announce their full plans for 2014, which include a brand new album, entitled One Blood, which will hit stores on July 21, 2014.
Produced by Downset guitarist Brian Ares Schwager and mixed by Wesley Seldman, One Blood was recorded in three locations – Venice and Overland rehearsal studio in Culver City, CA, The Basement in Baltimore, MD, and Creating Better Sounds studio in Palmdale, CA. “One Blood is Downset in its truest form, coming straight from our hearts to touch the hearts of others,” states guitarist and One Blood producer Brian Ares Schwager.
Downset will perform several east and west coast dates this summer. See below for a current listing of tour dates with ticket prices and door times. Vocalist Ray Oropeza adds, “The east coast is where Downset will launch our live tour for the One Blood album. Downset was formed in 1992 in Los Angeles, rising up from the hardcore, hip-hop, punk rock and graffiti movements. In 1994, Downset released their first album, a self-titled release, on Mercury Records and followed up two years later with a second album on Mercury Records, entitled Do We Speak A Dead Language? Fast forward to 2000, when Downset released the Check Your People album on Epitaph Records, and a few years later released the Universal album on Hawino Records.
Downset boasts an extensive touring resume, having performed with artists spanning several genres. Downset has performed with many bands throughout the years, such as Linkin Park, Korn, Snoop Dogg, Anthrax, Pantera, Slayer, Testament, Madball, Deftones, Earth Crisis, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Machine Head, Coal Chamber, System of a Down, Slipknot, Hatebreed, Slayer, Sepultura and Soulfly.
This year’s One Blood will continue the epic tradition that only Downset can truly express – hybridizing hip-hop and crushing riffs with lyrics that touch the world dramatically. The unique style of music on this release will remind listeners of Downset’s critical position in this contemporary era of art, expression and music.

The single "Pick Me Up" marks a new start for the esteemed Copenhagen-based rock band Stella Blackrose. It's still rock that is the lifeblood of the band, but the single portents a new, more poppy version of the band.
Danish band Stella Blackrose has been in the labour camp to reinvent themselves and develop the sound that has already been struck on the first two albums. Rock music is still the foundation of the new style, but inspiration from bands like Paramore and Biffy Clyro is not denied an entrance.
In the wake of the band's first two albums "Kiss the Dirt" (2010) and "Death & Forever" (2012) followed countless great reviews, lots of touring activity and a series of festival gigs - including Smukfest (second biggest festival in Denmark) where the national daily paper BT credited a 5-starred review under the heading "Stella Blackrose are the new stars" - as well as live performances on national Danish television.
For the last year the band has been writing songs for the yet unnamed third album. A couple of these has been presented on a spring tour in Denmark with a never before seen acoustic constellation, performing stripped down versions of their songs.
A rock band that stands out In front is still Rebecca Lou Armstrong, who with her devil-may-care vocals and poetic lyrics universe, invites the listener into a world of melancholy that also are recognizable from the first two albums.
The vulnerable and honest lyrics are well preserved in the band's DNA, but a renewed positivity has sneaked in and presents a rock band that are not afraid to stand out, but at the same time write about something as trivial as love.
"Pick Me Up” is homage to the person that bothers to stand by your side when you are feeling most imperfect. A reminder of that there’s beauty in our mistakes, and to find someone who can see through the insecurity and love it, is a gift.” Rebecca explains. See the video below.
Stella Blackrose - Pick Me Up (official music video)
Rebecca is backed up by established names on the Danish music scene: Steven Ardilsø on bass, Jakob Gundel on drums and Anders Bo Jespersen on guitar.
"Pick Me Up" is the front-runner for the third album that currently is in the process of recording.
One of the more recent highly anticipated new bands, Nightmares, have announced that their début record "Suspiria" will be released June 2nd, 2014, via Rise Records. The band have also released new music in the form of "Cujo" which is taken from their forthcoming album. Nightmares will also hit the road on the Rise Records and Friends tour this spring.
Fans can check out "Cujo" and pre-order the new album here.
The epic and urgently dark new album features eleven of the most viciously powerful songs Nightmares have ever recorded. Carrying the emotional and psychological weight of a horror movie soundtrack, the ride begins with the blistering track "Frontiers" which uses an intricate digital manipulation of cinematic sound effects to set the tone of the record.
Tracks like "Hands of the Ripper", "Suspiria", and "Carnival of Souls" are deeply filled with raw emotions which keep fans on their toes as they explore the various elements and layers that are true to Nightmare's sound.
Front-man Carter Hardin expresses his delight:
"We are thrilled to be announcing our début full-length "Suspiria" today, this record is the product of two years of work and we can't wait to share it with you. Our new song "Cujo" is a personal favourite. I wrote it about a Christian school I attended whilst growing up in a society where they forced their beliefs down our throats and wouldn't let anyone question anything. The main message behind the song it to not let anyone force you to believe something... draw your own conclusions and find truth for yourself, whatever that may be".
Nightmares recorded "Suspiria" over the course of a full year with Drew Fulk at Think Sound Studios in Greensboro, North Carolina. The band also brought in heavy - hitter producer and engineer, David Bendeth (Bring Me The Horizon, Of Mice and Men, Asking Alexandria) to mix the album at House of Loud in Elmwood Park NJ.
The Atlanta based five piece recently released a provocative new video for "In the Mouth of Madness" featuring Tyler Carter of the band Issues, which saw over 250,000 views within the first week of release. Nightmares will take the stage starting April 30, 2014 on the Rise Records and Friends tour with PVIRS, Alive Like Me, and Tamerlane.
"Suspiria" Track Listing:
02. Let The Right One In
03. In The Mouth Of Madness (feat. Tyler Carter)
04. Tourist Trap
06. Carnival Of Souls
07. Enter The Void
08. The Tommyknockers
09. Hands Of The Ripper
Stoner rock legend John Garcia (Vista Chino / Kyuss) has just announced another legendary musician to be working with him on Garcia's upcoming solo record: Guitarist Robby Krieger of The Doors!
"To have Robby Krieger from The Doors play on my first ever solo record was surreal. Not only was it surreal, but to be the first artist ever to record in his brand new studio Horse Latitudes in Los Angeles made it even more special. I am honored, and humbled by his professionalism and talent and will never forget that experience for the rest of my life......it truly made the song "Her Bullets Energy" better, not to mention the entire record." comments John Garcia.
The hotly anticipated solo album by John Garcia coming out end of July on Napalm Records!

2013 has proven to be a successful year for the youthful Southend rockers Crash Mansion, having snapped up a deal with Transcend Music, released their latest EP "Live For Something" as well as gracing the Jägermeister Acoustic Stage at Download. Furthermore as the lads look forward to supporting Stormbringer (https://www.facebook.com/events/239565636200946/?source=1) there is a real buzzing sense amongst the Essex music scene in that they are sure to deliver another sensational year, as 2014 beckons the young lads look to progress on amendments (Phil Maher had replaced Adam Dougan) and yet we could see them potentially begin the task of wielding their first album, watch this space.....
Already taking Israel by storm, this unsigned Israel-based sextet are sure to make their sound well and truly heard across the world in 2014. Considered to be a more melodic and more powerful form of Evanescence, EarlyRise unleashed their debut album 2 years ago and for sure some people will think that that they are in overtime in regards to delivering their second album, therefore 2014 beckons to be the year this lusciously-sounding lot deliver that one song that will push them forward. 2013 proved to be a good year for the six-piece especially with their cover of Korn's 'Narcissistic Cannibal' reaching 1 million views on YouTube. Of course Israel is not generally well acknowledged on the rock map, so this is the time for EarlyRise to change that.
Whipping together genres that stand so far apart is never easy, but time and time again a band goes the extra mile and does it spot on. Poised to make 2014 a big year for themselves is four-piece Sixtyfours whose infectious mix of rock, hip-hop and euro-dance is sublime to say the least. Their 2013 single 'All On You' featuring also the song 'My Sound' proved to be a hit amongst the media critics and as they plan their next musical assault, Sixtyfours could easily find themselves wound up at either Reading, Download or Leeds festival next year, they are that ready. Pumping out the rock 'n' rave is definitely on their plans, could they be the answer to the saturating rock scene?

"From the underground up to the street’s concerts"
You were hearing the sounds of music from the seams between the walls in Herat in 2005. Yeah! It was ANTz who are the first Blues Rock band and one of the real underground bands in Afghanistan.
Antz, are a group of musicians who were recording their music and vocals inside their car and a small studio inside in a house in Herat, they started out by deciding to establish a band in order to play new music for the new generation. They are Antz, because they are hard-workers, honest and always doing the heavy stuff like the real ants..
Antz removed their skins like snakes twice from 2005 and up to 2013, some changes are good but as Masoud Hassanzada (one of the band's founders, song write and guitarist) states: "I discovered my love of art during the Taliban rule, when music was forbidden" he confesses. His texts deal with issues like dreams and problems facing the Afghan youth. "There is a whole generation that has never known peace".
"Minority Report" the first album by Antz with 8 tracks was released in 2007. It was called "Minority Report" because the album is spoken from the viewpoint of a minority, it talks about the socio-political situation in Afghanistan. It means most of the songs were critical and the content was based around social problems such as war, corruption, elections, social chaos, lack of memories, history, foreign troops, the Taliban, mullahs, liberals and assorted bribery, etc.
Shekib Mosadiq is the vocalist and founder of the band alongside Masoud Hassanzada. The reception of releasing the album in the first few days was unprecedented. We could make about $300 USD by CD from our online eBay store per week and in all local radios our songs were aired, meaning we became known and famous amongst the Persian-Iranian singers Hassanzada said.
Performing in different Cafés, festivals, events and thrice at the Sound Central Festival in Afghanistan is just a part of their achievements, but the latest performance was at Orange Café, a street concert for public people which was stopped by police.
Antz are still playing, performing and working on a new album "Militarism" with 9 tracks poised to be on it, the album will be released in around 2 months time.
The music is very diverse and different on this album, like some of the tracks are quite rocky, some more blues-orientated and a few others are "Gypsy Blues". In terms of content, the lyrics are more radical than the first album. In terms of regulation, it will be unprecedented in the history of country music. This album has a couple of other musical instruments (an accordion for example) which were added. This album is more critical in terms of content viewing and features a more spirited critique of the war in Afghanistan and the failure of Western democratization in Afghanistan. Simply put the atmosphere of the songs are totally satirical.
Following up the re-release of the band’s first EP ‘Between Order And Model’ through BoySetsFire’s End Hits Records, Funeral For A Friend have announced a handful of UK dates in April next year with support from BoySetsFire. As Matthew from FFAF explains –“It's taken so many years but to finally say that we're going on tour with BoySetsFire again puts a huge smile on my face. I have loved this band through every record they've released and feel honored that I can call them dear friends. They are a huge musical/lifestyle inspiration and getting to see them tear it up is going to be incredible!”
Josh from BoySetsFire adds "I cannot believe how excited I am about this tour. Funeral For A Friend and BoySetsFire? I would go to this show, I would buy a ticket. Seriously though, we are very excited about touring with our friends in Funeral For A Friend. It will be one for the ages. Please come and join us."
These dates will see Funeral For A Friend play their album ‘Hours’ in full. Tickets will be on sale from Friday 25th October at 9am.
