‘Realm Of The Damned – Tenebris Deos’ will debut in the Judge Dredd Megazine #369 on 17th February 2016. Available from all good comic book stores worldwide and newsagents in the UK, as well as digitally from 2000 AD’s webshop and apps. “Pye’s artwork is phenomenal,” said writer Alec Worley. “Every spread I’m seeing is more amazingly demented than the last. This is going to be one hell of a debut graphic novel. Readers of the Prog and Meg have only had a taste of what this droid can do. Now they’re in for a feast!” In France ‘Realm Of The Damned – Tenebris Deos’ also debuts in the latest issue (Number 93 – January / February 2016). For more info: http://metallian.net ‘Realm Of The Damned – Tenebris Deos’ a Black Metal-infused gothic horror series, launched by October File bassist and Plastic Head kingpin Steve Beatty, written by Alec Worley and drawn by Simon “Pye” Parr (2000 AD) on Friday May 13, 2016. Check out the trailer here: ‘Realm Of The Damned’ is set in a dystopian world run by vampires and, to make things worse, the most brutal vampire ever is brought back to life. There’s no one left to protect us from what lurks in the dark. There’s no Hellboy, no Mulder and Scully, no Torchwood or Men in Black coming to save us. The monsters have won. Our world now belongs to them… The Vatican’s last line of paranormal defence – The Congregation – has finally been overrun by the supernatural forces of darkness Our heroes are all dead, only the damned remain. Among them is Alberic Van Helsing – addict, murderer, survivor – and the creatures that were once his prey now hunt him across America. But when an apocalyptic evil is resurrected in the forests of Norway, it falls to Van Helsing to become the hunter once again if mankind and monster alike are to see the dawn. Van Helsing’s quest for salvation and survival takes him through the ruins of a neo-Gothic Europe, where he must face the vampire queen of the Vatican, a man-made monster with the heart of a storm, the lycanthropic lord of the forest, the mummified ruler of the slums of Cairo, and the crazed vampire demi-god who threatens to devour them all. This is Realm of the Damned: Tenebris Deos, a graphic novel of pure Black Metal horror that unleashes classic Gothic monsters on a modern rampage of redemption and damnation. Raw, fast-paced and bristling with atmosphere, this is a bloody and blasphemous epic that leaves no church unburned. Featuring appearances from Behemoth, Emperor and Mayhem. The eight-part series will be a hit with all fans of the horror genre as well as legions of heavy metal fans, and is another strong new series for the Megazine. With Parr’s gruesome and gory visuals and Worley’s in-your-face script, Realm of the Damned is the comic your mother warned you about! ‘Werewolf Press’ will release the first installment of four ‘Realm Of The Damned’ books, Tenebris Deos, on the deathly Friday the 13th of May, 2016. Iconic radio brand Virgin Radio, part of the UTV Media portfolio of brands, has today announced that it will be returning to the airwaves on Wednesday 30th March, with the hugely talented Edith Bowman at the helm. Hosting the Virgin Radio Breakfast Show from 6am until 10am each morning, Edith will become the only full-time solo female breakfast presenter currently on national radio. With a passion for music and a rich experience as a broadcaster spanning almost 20 years, Edith has a diverse body of work that has seen her broadcast shows on BBC Radio 1, 2, 5 Live, 6 Music and Scotland, also fronting a huge range of music festival coverage and awards show. Her big break in radio came in 2003, when she teamed up with Colin Murray to present renowned music show Colin and Edith on BBC Radio 1, and she also holds the current role of Music Editor for ELLE magazine. Speaking of her forthcoming role on Virgin Radio, Edith said: “I’m utterly thrilled to be asked to host the Breakfast Show on the new and exciting Virgin Radio. Being back on the radio five days a week is going to be a lot of fun, and a place where I can share my passion for music and film with a wonderful audience. I feel honoured to be given the responsibility and can’t wait to get started – being the only solo female breakfast show host on national radio is an exhilarating opportunity. Live Bands, films, established artists, new music, interviews and an open conversation with the morning audience is going to be an absolute pleasure.” Following on after the Breakfast Show will be Jamie East (10am – 1pm), Kate Lawler (1pm – 4pm) and Matt Richardson (4pm – 7pm), with Tim Cocker (7pm – 11pm) completing the brilliant weekday presenter line-up. Jamie East has had a rich and varied career, and is best-known for founding popular gossip site Holy Moly in 2002, described by The Guardian as “the scourge of celebrity culture”. His TV works include presenting Big Brother’s Bit on the Side and Game of Thrones fan show Thronecast on Sky Atlantic, and he was also lead singer in indie band The Beekeepers in the late 90s. Kate Lawler shot to fame after becoming the first female winner of Big Brother in 2002, which led to a successful presenting career in TV and radio. She hosted Channel 4’s RI:SE alongside talkRADIO presenter Iain Lee, and Capital FM's Hit Music Sunday with Andi Peters. In 2007 Kate landed the breakfast show on Kerrang! Radio, taking over Drivetime a year later, where her show was nominated for Best Entertainment at the Sony Awards 2013. Next stop was The Late Show across the Bauer City Network for which Kate won Show of the Year at the Bauer Media Awards 2014. She also has a huge passion for music and now DJs at corporate events. Set to bring his unique sense of humour to Drivetime on Virgin Radio, multi-award winning stand-up comedian and presenter Matt Richardson will be taking on his first on-air presenting gig. After becoming a professional comedian by the age of 20, Matt secured his first major TV role co-hosting The Xtra Factor on ITV2 alongside Caroline Flack in 2013, before going on to TV appearances across a wealth of shows including Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Celebrity Juice. Matt is currently working on a number of TV projects and has a brand new stand up tour for the autumn of 2016, following up his twice extended sell-out and award-winning Hometown Hero 2013/14 stint on the road. Rounding off the line-up is former XFM presenter Tim Cocker, who hosted the Breakfast Show for the station in Manchester for more than five years. A respected broadcaster with nominations from the prestigious Sony Academy Awards and Commercial Radio Awards among others, Tim also DJs at festivals and clubs across the country and presents rugby coverage for BT Sport. Liam Thompson, Programme Director for Virgin Radio, said: “We can’t wait to bring Virgin Radio back to digital radio in March. This is a completely fresh start for a hugely admired brand – we’ve got a new line-up and approach, and securing a presenter as talented as Edith Bowman speaks volumes about our commitment to making a real impact in music radio. Jamie, Kate, Matt and Tim will do a great job in entertaining the nation throughout the day; listeners are going to want to tune in and turn us up!” Virgin Radio previously broadcast in the UK between 1993 and 2008 to record audiences. In December 2014, UTV Media entered into an agreement with Virgin Radio International to relaunch Virgin Radio in the UK, subject to the necessary broadcasting licence being awarded – which it was by Ofcom in March 2015. Virgin Radio launches on Wednesday 30th March – retune your radio from 15th February 2016. The station will be available on digital, online and on mobile. www.virginradio.co.uk In honour of Valentine's Day, music licensing company PPL has released an official chart of the Most Played Love Songs of the 21st Century. Aggregated using PPL’s exclusive UK airplay data, the chart collates those songs about love, longing and adoration played on BBC and commercial UK radio stations between 2000 and 2015. The PPL Most Played Love Songs of the 21st Century chart has thrown up some interesting results, revealing a wide variety of tracks from the hearts of pop’s most famous besotted and love-struck songsters. "Chasing Cars", Snow Patrol’s 2006 Grammy-winning track comes in at first place, followed by "Rule the World" by Take That at number two, and "Can’t Get You Out of My Head" by Kylie Minogue at number three. Timeless classics such as "I Say A Little Prayer" by Aretha Franklin at number 31 in the chart and "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers at number 65, are surpassed by less conventional contemporary tracks like "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne at number nine, and "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé featuring Jay-Z, at number four. Power ballads, film soundtracks and up-tempo dance tunes all feature on the list, proving that whether you choose to serenade your loved one in the style of James Blunt or Bon Jovi, there is a tune from this list to croon to this Valentine’s Day. This entire book was also re-tooled to provide multiple reference points for quick and easy navigation, and now includes a step-by-step guide on how to register a copyright. Mike Repel, who has recently appeared as a guest speaker at the 2016 NAMM Show has stated that “In this competitive industry which is fueled by delusion and lack of guidance, there has not yet been a book made publicly available to shepherd the naive through the earliest stages of their careers. So I took it upon myself to write the book that I wish I had access to when I was 16 years old.” Repels’ background as an indie artist, manager, and also as a former independent record label owner gives this book a dynamic perspective into artist development from all angles. It will help the artist not only understand the fundamentals of their own career development, but also why the industry requires these steps. Over 100 topics are covered in the span of thirty-four chapters that will empower the individual to obtain the basic foundation necessary before any manager, publicist or record label will even be able to consider them for any realistic opportunities. "This is an excellent, no-holds barred manual that any musician, especially those in the beginning and intermediate stages of their career should take to heart. All of the bases are covered. And while each chapter deserves a thorough read, the layout of the book makes it simple to find or revisit individual topics at those points in your career when you specifically need to refresh your memory on copyright issues, or merchandising, for example." - Hillary Mahoney / Screamer Magazine “Arm yourself with knowledge. “The Music Industry Self Help Guide” was like reading my own thoughts, as if Mike entered my head and took my step by step playbook when working with clients. A definite must read for any artist looking to succeed in the ever changing music industry.” - JB Fetzer Founder/Fetzer Entertainment A free preview of the The Music Industry Self Help Guide includes a very in-depth table of contents.
