Note from Transcending Obscurity Records:- "I'm not representing any band or label here for PR purposes. I'm only trying to help spread the word because someone's home has been destroyed. I hope you don't mind this email, which is to help the drummer of the legendary Mexican death metal band Cenotaph. If you're unaware, you can stream one of their highly acclaimed albums AT THIS LINK. " CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN LINK "About 'Riding Our Black Oceans', here's a personal note: At first I found it extremely difficult to get into because it wasn't traditional meat and potatoes death metal. What it offered was essentially early At The Gates worship but in an unconventional manner. The vocals are way too coarse but upon multiple listens I found the contrast exhilarating. I could relate to the contrast between the sweet moments aka the melodies and the harsher parts of life. It quickly became a treasured CD in my collection, in India, which meant a lot. Not a lot of people knew this album back in the day but I suppose internet catches up eventually. Please check it out, if only to acknowledge the talent of the band Cenotaph, and of course, to remember the contribution of the drummer Oscar who had his home torn down because of an earthquake. Any contribution is helpful." Crowdfunding Campaign Link

Directed by Gretchen Heinel and produced by Sabbath Assembly and Saltpeter Filmworks, Exsanguinata stars Jamie Myers and David Christian from Sabbath Assembly, with an exclusive soundtrack by the band, as well. The film reveals a noblewoman and her devotees perpetuating their power by preying upon her subjects. For each young victim, the rite of adolescence becomes a rite of death. And for the noblewoman—the Countess Bathory—the rite of death becomes a rite of adolescence. Roles reversed, through blood sacrifice. Chris Kimsey, the man who engineered Frampton comes Alice and has worked on every Rolling Stones album since "Some Girls", is opening the doors to his experience when recording Marillion's "Misplaced Childhood" studio album, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. He will be hosting the interactive session, which forms part of "The Inside Track" series, at The Indulgence Show, London's newest audio and lifestyle entertainment event returning to Novotel Conference Centre in Hammersmith, on Saturday 30 September in the Bourg Suite, Mezzanine Floor. Visitors interested in hearing more about the British rock band's most successful album to date can join Chris from 2.00pm - 2.40pm. He will be sharing his insights on how he recorded and produced the ground-breaking album during the spring of 1985 at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin. The album, featuring Marillion's two most successful singles, 'Kayleigh' and piano-led 'Lavender', climbed the UK charts and quickly became number one, spending a total of 41 weeks in this position and gaining Platinum status. Chris' illustrious career has spanned four decades and has seen him work with Led Zeppelin, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Deacon Blue and The London Symphony Orchestra. His journey in the industry began at Olympic Studios in Barnes. His mentor at Olympic was Keith Grant, who taught him everything he needed to know during the daytime film soundtrack sessions for such classics as The Italian Job, Get Carter and The Thomas Crown Affair. During the night-time pop sessions, Glyn Johns helped Chris cut his teeth on albums for The Small Faces and The Eagles. Vernon Hamblin, producer of The Indulgence Show, says, "Bands don't get much bigger than The Stones, Led Zep and Marillion and Chris has been responsible for much of what we have heard from these giants. It's a pleasure to be able to welcome him again to The Indulgence Show to share his stories from the recording studios with the visitors to the show." He continues, "Bringing names like this to the event puts entertainment and an informative focus right at its heart, moving it away from the traditional static exhibition into something much more interactive and fun - putting the show into The Indulgence Show." The Indulgence Show, London's newest lifestyle entertainment event, is returning to Novotel Conference Centre in Hammersmith, from 29 September - 1 October 2017, to bring visitors high-end luxury products including cars, motorised recreational vehicles, home entertainment products, headphones and much more. The event, which is designed to appeal to discerning consumers with high disposable income, will be bigger and better than ever with new and exciting exhibitors joining the line-up demonstrating brands such as Sony, Porsche Design; Devialet; Classic Car Club; Ely Gin; PMC; KEF; Vinyl Resellers; Focal and Ross Halfin Photography. The Devil's Cradle: The Story of Finnish Black Metal is the definitive history of one of the most uncompromising music scenes in the world: Finnish black metal. Based on over 50 interviews conducted by Helsinki-based journalist Tero Ikäheimonen between 2014 and 2017, the book unravels the story of Finnish black metal from the late 1980s to modern times. "Countless of books have been written about black metal over the years, but every time, the Finnish scene has remained merely a side note," says Ikäheimonen. "It's an atrocity, since Finland has created some of the world's most renown underground black metal since the beginning; I wanted to fix that. This book is made for the maniacs all over the world." To be released by Svart Publishing on November 1st, The Devil's Cradle features such bands as Beherit, Impaled Nazarene, Barathrum, Archgoat, Azazel, Diaboli, Darkwoods My Betrothed, Horna, Vornat, Thy Serpent, Wanderer, Urn, Black Dawn, …And Oceans, Musta Surma, Alghazanth, Azaghal, Warloghe, Behexen, Clandestine Blaze, Satanic Warmaster, Ride for Revenge, Goatmoon, IC Rex, Charnel Winds, Cosmic Church, Saturnian Mist, Rienaus, and Abyssion among others. "It was important for me to base the book on the experiences of true underground spirits - black metal musicians, zine authors, and tape traders," Ikäheimonen says. "Many stories are told for the first time. I wanted to focus on the music, but not forget the darker side of black metal - all the violence, death, and destruction that have ravaged the Finnish scene. It was crucial to include the spiritual and psychological side of black metal, too. Satanism with all its different notions and the occult are present throughout the book." The Devil's Cradle was first published in Finnish in September 2016 by Svart Publishing (titled Pirunkehto). The English translation features all the original content and two additional chapters. This edition will encompass 500+ pages and be presented in a hard cover. Chapter excerpts will be periodically revealed HERE. www.facebook.com/The-Devils-Cradle-406077333070793 www.svartrecords.com www.facebook.com/svartrecords www.youtube.com/svartrecords www.twitter.com/svartrecords The first ever official Iron Maiden comic book series is coming from leading US science fiction, fantasy and horror publishers Heavy Metal Publishing. The comic books are based on the band’s hit mobile role playing game, Iron Maiden: Legacy Of The Beast, where players battle as Eddie across the many worlds of Iron Maiden’s discography, from the ancient sands of Powerslave to the far flung future of The Final Frontier. Comprising five fantastic issues, with an overarching narrative and incredible illustrations, Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is written by Llexi Leon and Ian Edginton, with art from Kevin J. West, Jason Gorder, and Santi Casas. The first issue goes on sale worldwide from comic retailers everywhere on October 11th, but is available to pre-order online now. See full details below. The comic book series expands on the video game narrative. As dark forces conspire to corrupt the fabric of reality, Eddie’s immortal soul is shattered and strewn across the cosmos – leaving a weakened, primal Eddie to battle across space and time facing off against the twisted legions of The Beast, seeking out the lost shards of his soul, and bringing order to the realms. With each victory, and with the aid of old friends, Eddie will restore his fearsome powers as he draws ever closer to facing the Unholy foe behind his fall… and thwarting a plot to unravel all of Creation! Jeff Krelitz, CEO of Heavy Metal says, “As a lifelong fan of Iron Maiden, it is a privilege to publish the first official comic giving a narrative to their iconic mascot, Eddie. Heavy Metal’s near half-century-long history of either working with or launching the careers of only the most accomplished artists continues here with the amazing team Iron Maiden has working on this series.” Llexi Leon, Interactive Creative Director at Phantom Music Management says, "After 40 years of unbridled creativity, innovation, and attitude, Heavy Metal has always been a home to the greatest talent in sequential storytelling and fantasy art. With a natural affiliation to the heavy music genre, it's a nexus point for counter culture and alternative arts. I can think of no better partner to explore Iron Maiden's Mythology and expand the Legacy Of The Beast!" The official launch of the first issue is October 11th - at comic retailers everywhere. Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla innovates by making isolated song stems (eg drums, vocals, guitar) from the 2016 ‘Battle Cry’ album available to players exclusively within the game. Using an innovative visual mechanic, players must fill “stem meters” to construct the full song and progress through each level of the game. “When we set out to make this game, we wanted to give fans a new kind of visual listening experience” said Rob Halford, who also appears in a series of exclusive video clips throughout the game. “For the first time, we are making individual stems of our songs available to fans to give them a new and interactive way to engage with some of the best songs from our catalogue.” “Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla” is a joint collaboration between Judas Priest, Sony Music Entertainment, Trinifold Management LLC UK and Babaroga, a leading mobile game studio. “Metal maniacs are you ready to join Judas Priest on the Road To Valhalla.....? Alexander Milas (ex-Metal Hammer) ride again on June 7th!4/6/2017 The Trooper Heavy Metal Truants, a charity cycle ride co-founded in 2012 by former Metal Hammer editor-in-chief Alexander Milas and Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood, is set to depart from London’s Alexandra Palace on the morning of Wednesday, June 7th for its fifth annual pilgrimage to Download Festival to benefit three children’s charities: Teenage Cancer Trust, Nordoff Robbins, and Childline. To date, they have raised £338,000. Now in its fifth year, the three day, 164-mile ride consists of 50 cyclists from every walk of life - fans, industry, and bands who’ve included Paradise Lost, Amon Amarth, Trivium, Orange Goblin, Pendulum, Tesseract, The Raven Age and more. To kick off their week of fundraising, The Trooper Heavy Metal Truants announced titular sponsorship from the award-winning Trooper Premium British Beer created by Iron Maiden and hand crafted by Robinsons Brewery. They have also teamed up with long-time supporters and rock/metal cabaret sensations The Lounge Kittens to record a charity single, which sees this year’s cyclists adding their vocals to a cover of 'Bicycle Race', by Queen. The single, which was mixed Olli Daffarn at Blue Dot studios, will be available via Amazon and other online retailers, and it will be followed by the launch of the Monster Rock Auction on June 6th at 6pm (6/6 @ 6). Featuring high-end items personally donated by the world’s biggest bands, the auction will be staggered, and the first round of items will include a bass guitar donated by Geddy Lee of Rush, handwritten 'Livin’ On A Prayer' lyrics written by Jon Bon Jovi, rare original and signed Grateful Dead artwork, a signed Metallica Les Paul guitar, and a rare original oil-on-canvas portrait of The Beatles’ George Harrison by famed pop and rock artist Barry Novis. A second and even larger lot is to be announced on July 4th. “This is all about community and doing some good in the world,” says Smallwood. “It’s that sense of community that’s at the core of heavy metal culture, and it’s also been key to the success of the Heavy Metal Truants, because people at every level of our world have truly pulled together to make this happen.” “In five short years, the Heavy Metal Truants has truly taken on a life of its own,” adds Milas. “From our 164-mile battle with the hills and the heat next week, to our first-ever charity single, to a truly one-of-a-kind memorabilia auction, it’s testament how metal fans respond when they see good causes worth fighting for. Please help us spread the word, and help support these charities who do such inspiring work every single day.” For more info and to donate, head to: http://www.heavymetaltruants.com Get the Heavy Metal Truants vs. The Lounge Kittens cover of BICYCLE RACE here: http://smarturl.it/bicyclerace The Monster Rock Auction: https://www.charitystars.com/foundation/heavy-metal-truants/comingsoon Learn more about TROOPER Beer at: www.ironmaidenbeer.com The first Heavy Music Awards is to be televised following the appointment of Scuzz as 'Broadcast Partner' for the event. Celebrating its 14th year this month, the Sony-owned channel has signed up to air the first HMAs on August 24, and will build up to the event in London with a series of one-hour finalist's shows. Alex Herron, Senior Channel Manager at Sony Pictures Entertainment, has worked in music TV for over ten years producing music artist content and overseeing several channels including Scuzz. "It's great to see an independent initiative such as the HMAs added to the rock eco-system," he revealed. "An event like this is only going to reinforce, promote and champion a genre which deserves more attention here in the UK. It's an honour to be involved in the maiden event." HMAs co-founder Andy Pritchard says teaming up with Scuzz will bring the Awards straight to true fans across the UK. He added: "The HMAs team has worked hard to build a judging panel of over 100 industry heavyweights that offers a true cross-section of heavy music in 2017 - but the winners are ultimately going to be decided by the fans, and that is what makes the HMAs such an exciting journey. "This partnership with Scuzz will give viewers a timely reminder of the finalists, in addition to the best of the action from the big night on the UK’s finest heavy music TV station. Everyone involved with the scheme stands to benefit from the huge exposure offered by this deal. "We are absolutely delighted to have Scuzz on-board with the HMAs." After the release of the band's latest album 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' in 2015, Holopainen has been known as person being highly interested in evolution and the diversity of nature. "I am very, very touched. This is the highest honour a nature nerd like me can receive”, Tuomas Holopainen commented after being contacted by Salmela, who asked for permission to name the insect after him. So far, this particular fungus gnat has only been spotted in eastern Lapland, Finland, and lives in shadowy environments. After releasing their double-DVD 'Vehicle Of Spirit', Nightwish are currently taking a year off to find inspiration and write new songs. For 2018, the symphonic metal legends plan their return. www.nightwish.com www.facebook.com/nightwish www.nuclearblast.de/nightwish |
