Ohio's Beartooth have announced the release of their new album Aggressive, due out June 3rd via Red Bull Records. Video for title track and first single ‘Aggressive’ premiers today April 22nd at 2pm GMT.
In the two short years since their debut album was cooked up in front man Caleb Shomo’s basement, Beartooth has catapulted into heavy music’s stratosphere. They have collected over 10 million views on YouTube, trekked around the globe sharing the stage with Slipknot, Pierce The Veil, Bring Me The Horizon and Sleeping With Sirens and playing festivals like Reading & Leeds, Download and the Vans Warped Tour. They’ve earned multiple Alternative Press and Kerrang! award nominations, gotten daytime airplay across the globe and been named a “New Artist You Need To Know” by Rolling Stone.
For Aggressive, Shomo again retreated to his home studio to write, perform and produce the album’s 12 tracks, re-teaming with John Feldmann (The Used, Blink-182) for a bit of songwriting contribution and enlisting David Bendeth (Killswitch Engage, Paramore) to mix the release. The resulting songs have as much in common with stomping metalcore as old-school punk, vintage screamo and harder-edged pop punk, combining circle pit-inducing bangers with soaring choruses and bridging raw authentic intensity with accessibility.
Beartooth will be giving fans a taste of Aggressive on their new run of live dates, kicking off in the US & continuing across UK & Europe this Summer, with more dates to be announced soon.

Pihlaja ja Kiro kohtasivat viime vuonna Tampereen yössä. Kiro toimi DJ:nä tapahtumassa, jossa Pihlajan ystävä oli tanssijana. Yhteisessä pöydässä alettiin puhua musiikista ja pikkutunneilla sovittiin yhteistyöstä.
”Kiron tultua mukaan mun musiikki löysi sen terävimmän elektronisen kärjen. Olin tehnyt aiemmin paljon piano-lauludemoja, mutta tiesin että halusin tehdä jotain iskevämpää. Oon tykkäillyt paljon esimerkiksi Major Lazerista, Ellie Gouldingista ja Zara Larssonista, joista voikin kuulla vähän vaikutteita mun musiikissa” Pihlaja kertoo.

Bell says of the track, "'ATA' was inspired by a 1958 Frank O'Hara poem called 'A True Account of Talking to the Sun at Fire Island.' It's filled with wordless instrumental stretches—space for thoughts to congeal, to clarify. Some elements of the beat were inspired by the Art Of Noise classic 'Moments In Love' (the snaps especially), and the wormy synth bass of the verses transforms into a high, bright lead when the sun finally speaks, in the middle of the song ('baby it's tough! but don't get low / our work is humble / daily I rise, daily you write')."
The first single from the album, "Randomness," recently received a "Best New Track" designation at Pitchfork after it was premiered by Dummy, who described the house-influenced track as "the fuel of self-manifestation." The Minister Akins-directed video premiered at i-D, who called the video "fire" and said of the track, "if you're anything like us, you've probably had [it] stuck in your head since it surfaced earlier this month." "This record is first for the body, then for the mind," says Bell, who began writing the album immediately after seeing the film Paris Is Burning. "I started every song by thinking about tempo specifically, listening to the metronome alone, feeling its relation to my body, to the pace of the day, the weather, the light. On fast days I listened to club music, most of it at least twenty years old, and on slow days I turned to early West Coast hip-hop and Portishead because of how physically charged and compelling these records feel despite their low BPM."

"I was inspired by fake love, Edie Sedgwick, Nancy Sinatra and Calle 13," says Uchis. "The video speaks on how disposable/replaceable 'lovers' are treated and the things we will say/do out of loneliness."
Uchis is currently in the studio finishing her debut album, following a whirlwind 2015 that found her touring North America with Leon Bridges, releasing her critically-acclaimed project Por Vida, starring in the Nick Knight-directed acoustic video for her song "Loner," directing videos for "Ridin Round," "Loner" and "Rush," starring in a campaign for British designer Sophia Webster and much more.
Twenty-two-year-old Uchis was born in Pereira, Colombia, raised in Alexandria, VA and is now based in Los Angeles, CA. Beyoncé has recently announced the names of three charities as global partners for her 'Formation World' Tour. The alignment with the three organizations is designed to show fans how easy it is to give back, be involved in their communities, to be kind and at the core — to BeyGOOD.
United Way will have a presence on every tour stop, starting on the North American leg of the tour which kicks off on Wednesday, April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. Chime For Change and Global Citizen will have their online activation program for fans in select tour markets, including Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit and London. In addition, there are three signature charity events in three cities; Houston, TX, Compton, CA and Detroit, Michigan.
BeyGOOD was launched in 2013 during the Mrs. Carter World Tour as the charity umbrella for Beyoncé's global charity initiatives. Millions received tangible help, employment, shelter and more on tour stops in North America, Australia, Europe, South America and the Caribbean as a direct effect of BeyGOOD's efforts during this time.
