Danish hardcore trio Halshug's scathing new full-length, Sort Sind, sees release today via Southern Lord and you can now hear it ahead of its release over at Team Rock. Splenetic and snarling throughout, Sort Sind features nine sharp and gritty new tracks that expresses boundless vehemence proving this to be a great feat for the band. Hear Sort Sind now at THIS LOCATION. The theme of Sort Sind is inspired by the members' experiences growing up in the 1990s and 2000s in neglected parts of Denmark, hoping to in some way contribute to their scene and invoke some energy in those who hear it. Fitting into this storyline are the previously released singles "Vold," which translates to violence, and according to the members of Halshug is about psychic terror and "Udskud," which also clearly displays the tumult and unrest the band has captured in their second full-length. The album's title, Sort Sind, translates to "black mind." A brutal rock record, Sort Sind bears hints of motorcycle-fuelled d-beat while still retaining the raw punk that made the sound on their Blodets Bånd debut so potent, the songs showing an even more destructive and elevated approach to their songwriting. Recorded live, produced and mixed at Ballade Studios by Lasse Ballade, who also produced and mixed Blodets Bånd, the Sort Sind LP was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. Southern Lord will issue Halshug's Sort Sind on CD, LP, and digital platforms today. Following their recent performances at Roskilde Festival and more throughout Denmark, followed most recently by their first US shows with a brief East Coast tour in August, further live actions from Halshug are impending, including a record release show on October 7th and more. There's a sense of physical power and bodily impact in the way the music hits the ears. It's supercharged with energy - and yes, it is indeed a violent kind of energy, with an almost anthemic aura." - No Clean Singing https://www.facebook.com/halshugcph http://www.southernlord.com http://www.facebook.com/SLadmin

British firebrand singer-songwriter Louise Distras will release her brand new single “Aileen” on the 30th of September 2016. The song will be Distras’ first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed 2013 debut album “Dreams from the Factory Floor”. Produced by “Dreams from the Factory Floor” producer Steve Whale (The Business) and mixed by Ross Petersen (Bruce Springsteen, The Vamps, John Mayer), “Aileen” represents real musical growth and a sonic shift for Louise, being an impassioned radio anthem that steps away from the punk and protest tags of her past and into powerpop territory. Nevertheless, the pop-friendly hooks house an intense emotional core. Lyrically “Aileen” is a hard-hitting dancefloor track that explores the dark story of ‘America’s first female serial killer’ Aileen Wuornos. It’s a song that sees Distras questioning rape culture and the sanctity of life. Having already been championed by Kerrang Radio, Radio X and Radio 1, 'Aileen' is living proof – if ever it was needed – that pop music does not have to mean ‘dumbed-down’ or ‘throwaway.’ Says Distras of “Aileen”: "One night after a show I watched the Nick Broomfield documentary 'Selling of a Serial Killer', which is about 'America's first female serial killer', Aileen Wuornos. As someone who has experienced homelessness and sexual assault, Aileen's story hit me pretty hard but left me feeling inspired to share it through my music. The film also left me with my own questions about rape culture and the idea of nature VS nurture, so I decided to make my own DIY film that explores the lyrical content of the single. It's called 'Real Outlaw – A Commentary on Rape Culture and the Riot Grrrl Movement' and it's available via scanning a QR code that's printed on the back of the CD and also on tour posters across the UK." “Aileen” and it's accompanying film will be released worldwide on 30th September 2016 digitally via iTunes and Amazon, or CD via Louise's official website. The choice of song that will represent the Czech Republic is open to songwriters from around the world and once again will be selected by a jury composed of respected music experts. This year’s Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Swedish capital Stockholm, with the Czech Republic represented by Gabriela Gunčíková and the song “I Stand”. For the first time in history, the Czech entry successfully fought its way into the final. The Czech Republic therefore had the opportunity to present itself to 204 million viewers in 42 countries. “I’m very pleased that we will once again have the opportunity to represent the Czech Republic in the world’s biggest entertainment show. Our priority is to constantly raise the quality of both the choice of song and artist, and in the presentation at the contest itself”, says Head of Delegation Jan Bors. The song will be selected by an expert jury made up of representatives of Česká televise and respected music experts. The jury will then choose the performer who will go on to represent the Czech Republic at next year’s European Song Contest. The choice of composition is open to songwriters from all corners of the globe, who can send their proposals by 30 November to the address [email protected]. The basic conditions for submission are that the registered song has a maximum length of 3 minutes, and must not be published or played at any location before 1 September 2016, and that the recording is submitted together with the lyrics and reference vocals. “Finding a song which fits current global trends and quality, while at the same time standing up to the intense competition at the European Song Contest is very complex. It is perfectly normal that even Czech artists collaborate with foreign writers and producers. I’m convinced that being as open as possible to the choice of song is, above all, the way to higher quality”, adds Jan Potměšil, the creative producer in charge of the project. The Eurovision Song Contest is a music competition organised by active members of the European Broadcasting Union. It is the most watched non-sporting event in the world, broadcast not only in the participating countries, but also in Australia, Brazil, Japan and the USA. First held in 1956, it is one of the longest running shows in television history. www.ceskatelevize.cz Screamo / Rock / Crust / Post-Hardcore Spanish power-trio (Albert + Eloy + Elsa) from Torrelavega, Drei Affen just streamed their brand new and self-titled EP coming out on September 20th for LP and Digital formats with the help of... 16 (!) various indie labels such as Dingleberry Records and Distribution, Unlock Yourself Records or Voice Of The Unheard.
