The official ESC YouTube channel has released the song 'My Turn' that will represent the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.- view it here:- https://youtu.be/ZlwKm-_jvQk

Martina Bárta is a young, ambitious, and talented singer – a new discovery on the jazz scene, endlessly travelling between Prague and Berlin, a combination of respect for the classics and a love of everything modern and innovative. With her song, "My Turn," Bárta brings immense enthusiasm, positive energy, and an exceptional style of expression to Eurovision. She captured the attention of the ESC Czech Team's management both with her strong and captivating voice as well as with her energy and musical sensitivity.

Czech fans know Martina from her performances with the legendary Felix Slováček Big Band as well as from the successful project, Sinatrology. She also often performs with her older sister, Kristina, who is a successful jazz pianist and composer. Together they have won such awards as the "2016 Best Jazz Composition" at Bohemia Jazz Fest. However, she truly came into the limelight thanks to her win in the television casting show, " Robin Hood – cesta ke slávě" ("Robin Hood – The Path to Fame"), which offered her the opportunity to play the leading female role of "Maid Marion" in the musical Robin Hood by Ondřej Soukup and Gábina Osvaldová in Prague's Divadlo Kalich Threatre.

It is in Germany, however, that Martina has experienced her most significant success and popularity. She performs regularly with various musical projects, has appeared at many jazz festivals, works on her own project, "Scotch and Soda," and makes guest appearances with the band of German rock legend, Henning Protzmann, famed member of the bands Karat and Panta Rhei. Her artistic activity abroad has earned her the privilege to meet and collaborate with global musical leaders such as the Roy Hargrove Quintet and American percussionist, Gregory Hutchinson. Last year, she had her first opportunity to travel to the United States of America, when she participated in the Jazz in Port Townsend workshop under the leadership of American contrabassist and Grammy Award-winning arranger John Clayton.

A large share of the brilliance of her expression can be attributed to her studies in classical music and French horn performance at the Gymnázium Jana Nerudy grammar school, popular vocal performance at the Prague Conservatoire, and, most importantly, her studies with leaders in their field at the prestigious Jazz Institut Universität der Künste in Berlin.

Depeche Mode, one of modern music’s most influential artists, announced yesterday at a special event in Milan that they will be embarking on a world tour in May 2017 to support their new studio album, Spirit, due to be released in early 2017. Following the release of the album, the Global Spirit Tour will provide lifelong fans and new fans alike with an opportunity to see the band’s ground-breaking and intensely emotive shows.

The first leg of the Global Spirit Tour will see Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher play to more than 1.5 million fans in 32 cities in 21 countries across Europe. The tour starts at Stockholm’s Friends Arena on May 5th 2017, and the band will play fan-favourite venues including Paris’ Stade de France, San Siro in Milan, and Berlin’s Olympiastadion. Additional tour stops include new stadiums for the band such as London Stadium on June 3rd 2017, Otkritie Arena in Moscow, and Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The European leg ends on July 23rd with a final stadium show in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Please see overleaf for full tour routing and information.

Depeche Mode play:

Sat 3rd     June 2017   LONDON, London Stadium

Tickets are priced at £70, £60, £55, £40 and go on general sale
Friday 14th October 2016 at 9AM.

Spirit will be the musical pioneers’ 14th studio album and the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed Delta Machine, which reached a top five chart position in 26 countries and the number one position in 12 countries. Spirit is being produced by James Ford, founding member of the band Simian Mobile Disco, whose recent production work includes albums by Florence and the Machine and Arctic Monkeys. Spirit will be released in early 2017 via Columbia Records worldwide.

Speaking in Milan, Dave Gahan commented, “We’re exceptionally proud of Spirit’s sound and energy, and we’re excited to get back on tour to share it with our fans around the world.”

Following the European tour dates in Summer 2017, the Global Spirit Tour will continue with shows in North and South America. The Global Spirit Tour will be the band’s 18th tour and will mark their first live performances in over three years. The band’s last tour, the Delta Machine Tour, played to over 2.5 million fans at sold-out shows across Europe and North America and was one of 2013’s largest and best selling tours. On the Global Spirit Tour the band will continue their charity partnership with Swiss watch maker Hublot, raising money and awareness for Charity: Water toward their mission of providing safe drinking water to everyone in the world.

Having sold over 100 million records and played live to more than 30 million fans worldwide, Depeche Mode refuse to become complacent, with innumerable artists citing them as inspirations and critics celebrating them as “still blazing trails” and “becoming more and more significant as time passes”. Spirit and the Global Spirit Tour are poised to continue this history of musical innovation and the band’s critical and commercial success.

Czech Republic begins preparations for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest

Česká televize (Czech Television) has begun its preparations for the next Eurovision Song Contest, the largest singing competition in Europe, which will be held in Ukraine. The choice of song that will represent the Czech Republic is open to songwriters from around the world and once again will be selected by a jury composed of respected music experts.

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Swedish capital Stockholm, with the Czech Republic represented by Gabriela Gunčíková and the song “I Stand”. For the first time in history, the Czech entry successfully fought its way into the final. The Czech Republic therefore had the opportunity to present itself to 204 million viewers in 42 countries.

“I’m very pleased that we will once again have the opportunity to represent the Czech Republic in the world’s biggest entertainment show. Our priority is to constantly raise the quality of both the choice of song and artist, and in the presentation at the contest itself”, says Head of Delegation Jan Bors.
The song will be selected by an expert jury made up of representatives of Česká televise and respected music experts.

The jury will then choose the performer who will go on to represent the Czech Republic at next year’s European Song Contest. The choice of composition is open to songwriters from all corners of the globe, who can send their proposals by 30 November to the address esc2017@ceskatelevize.cz. The basic conditions for submission are that the registered song has a maximum length of 3 minutes, and must not be published or played at any location before 1 September 2016, and that the recording is submitted together with the lyrics and reference vocals.

“Finding a song which fits current global trends and quality, while at the same time standing up to the intense competition at the European Song Contest is very complex. It is perfectly normal that even Czech artists collaborate with foreign writers and producers. I’m convinced that being as open as possible to the choice of song is, above all, the way to higher quality”, adds Jan Potměšil, the creative producer in charge of the project.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a music competition organised by active members of the European Broadcasting Union. It is the most watched non-sporting event in the world, broadcast not only in the participating countries, but also in Australia, Brazil, Japan and the USA. First held in 1956, it is one of the longest running shows in television history.

Czech Republic teenage pop sensation Pink Angels are ready to wow the UK with their mesmerising talents. Tereza (15), Angee (16), Natalie (18), and Nikola (17), are already household names in their native but are now preparing to unleash their catchy pop hooks on to the British public on the next step on their quest for world domination. Despite their young age, the group always entertain their audiences with their energetic and vibrant live performances, fuelled by impressive dance routines full of confidence and charisma. Together, the band hold European and World dance championship titles and the ability to play the piano, the cello, and the guitar.

The hugely exciting band (who have already collectively racked up over 60,000 Instagram followers) have performed on British shores before, having supported the likes of Little Mix, Union J, and Rita Ora amongst others. Now, they are back as their own entity – currently performing on a two-month long tour of the UK, which will culminate at Liverpool’s Fusion Festival in September, an event that is headlined by Jason Derulo and Olly Murs.

The girls aren’t just looking to win over the Brits, either. Following the success of their Czech reality television series, they’ll be documenting their attempt at cracking the U.S. charts in the upcoming series ‘Pinks Across America’, which is just like the ‘Thelma and Louise’ American road trip of a lifetime – but without the ending!

They’re touring the UK all over the summer at Butlins, followed by a performance at Fusion Festival in September.
