Hong Kong-Based guitarist Jason Kui signs with Prosthetic Records

Prosthetic Records is proud to welcome Hong Kong-based rock and blues musician and composer Jason Kui to its roster. Kui is a session and touring guitarist who has worked with many well-known artists throughout Hong Kong and China. As a teenager, he was drawn to the playing of Eddie Van Halen, John Petrucci and Andy Timmons, who all greatly influenced his playing. Kui's debut album, Absence of Words, features diverse sounds - modern metal, hard rock, funk and ballad - while integrating rock lead techniques and compelling melodies throughout. Prosthetic Records will make the album available for the first time outside of Hong Kong on October 13, 2017.

Jason Kui says: "Fortunately for me, instrumental music is popular again like in the 80's, and it has no language barriers - an Asian rock or pop singer could never find a large audience in the US or Europe. Prosthetic Records is known for great instrumental artists, like Marty Friedman. Getting signed by Prosthetic is quite unbelievable. It has been my ambition for years to be signed by an American label. I hope this will lead a tour and performing in the US."

Absence of Words was mixed and mastered in New York by Matthew Sim at Germano Studios and Alex Psaroudakis at Sterling Sound and features several other guest musicians, including one of the most in-demand bassists in Hong Kong, Chan Siu Kei, as well as American modern metal drum virtuoso, Anup Sastry. Sastry played on all the tracks on the album and his unique, modern sound and incredible techniques are recognizable in every song.

Kui started his career as a sideman at the age of 23, and has played countless shows at the Coliseum, Hong Kong's largest venue which seats 12,500. He recently finished a two-year world tour as lead guitarist for Eason Chan, the legendary Hong Kongsinger. The 135-show tour included venues in China, South-east Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, including Madison Square Garden. The two finale shows were performed at Beijing's Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium to sell-out crowds totalling 100,000 people.

US rockers Madam X, ft. Vixen drummer Roxy Petrucci, sign to EMP Label Group; set to release "Monstrocity" Oct 31.

Legendary Detroit Hard Rockers MADAM X have signed a deal with EMP Label Group, who will release their long-awaited sophomore release Monstrocity on October 31st, (October 27th in Europe) on CD and Digital, with a limited edition vinyl release planned for November. Produced by Madam X at Metro 37 Studios in Rochester Hills, MI, and Mixed by Michael Wagener (Megadeth, Metallica, Skid Row, Ozzy Osbourne), with additional mixing by Mark Slaughter, Monstrocity is a hard-hitting classic Metal/Rock record sure to serve as a proper return to form for Madam X, and a kick in the ass for fans old and new.

Formed in 1981 by sisters Roxy and Maxine Petrucci, Madam X recruited bassist Chris “Godzilla” Doliber and vocalist Bret Kaiser, who released their classic, Rick Derringer produced, Jet Records debut "We Reserve The Right" in 1984, spawning the hit Rock single “High in High School”. 4 years later, after Roxy departed to join future Arena Rock superstars VIXEN, and original vocalist Kaiser was briefly replaced by an unknown Canadian vocalist named Sebastian Bach, Madam X disbanded, and would remain mostly inactive until 2014, when the original line-up reunited at the Sweden Rock Festival.

Fast forward to 2017, when the Petrucci sisters collaborated with vocalist Mark Slaughter on a Lemmy Kilmister tribute track for their VIP Aftershow project, Slaughter who introduced Roxy to EMP Label Group head of A&R Thom Hazaert, who released a 12” “Kilmister” single for Aftershow, and the conversation soon shifted to the upcoming Madam X release.

Says Hazaert, “When I connected with Roxy and we were working on The Aftershow stuff, and she told me they were working on a new Madam X record, I was extremely excited at the prospect of releasing it. After a brief courtship, we made the decision to put it out together, and I can honestly say I’m still excited. Madam X is such a kickass Rock band, I was always a huge fan of their first record, and to be able to release its follow up over 30 years later is just insane.”

Adds drummer Roxy Petrucci, "Hell may not be pretty but good things will find their way out!! It takes a huge pair of metal balls to sign a band like Madam X, David Ellefson and Thom Hazaert at EMP put their love of metal first, and crushed it by signing Madam X! Raw and flawed, Monstrocity will be unleashed onto the world in fall 2017! Long live Rock n Roll but immortalized in Metal!"
The album features 12 hard-hitting slabs of Rock, including the pummelling title track “Monstrocity”, “Resurrection”, “Nitrous”, and an updated version of their 1984 hit “High In High School.”

The new album October 27th, 2017

Check out the trailer for the first single ‘Break’ here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAnOGly0PM4&feature=youtu.be

After the success of their ‘Sentience’ EP, hard-hitting UK quartet Skarlett Riot soon began to attract interest from far and wide. Signing deals with TKO Agency and The Artery Foundation management were just the beginning for this highly rated act – soon they had signed a world-wide record deal with the pro-active and forward thinking Swedish label Despotz Records.

With the ink still drying on their contracts the four-piece, led by the unique and passionate vocals of Skarlett, headed back in to the studio to begin work on their hugely anticipated second album.

The new material is harder, heavier, faster but still driven by the anthemic hooks that have kept this band at the forefront of the UK modern metal scene.

The band have constantly developed and honed their craft; and the band are in comfortable in their darker and heavier guise, with elements of Asking Alexandria, In This Moment and Bullet for My Valentine shining through; opening up all new possibilities for the band

The result is the amazing new album – ‘Regenerate’.

Whereas their peers are all seemingly heading towards a lighter direction, Skarlett Riot are embracing the anger and aggression of the modern world and challenging it into some of their most challenging material to date.

The commanding voice of Skarlett has taken on a bolder and more forceful presence, whilst the guitars of Danny are razor sharp and incisive, giving the rhythm section of Luke and Martin the room to progress and expand into a taut, almost hostile driving force, as the first single ‘Break’ ably demonstrates!

The regeneration is complete – Skarlett Riot are back!

‘SOLID GOLD’ - BRAND NEW SINGLE OUT NOW
WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

PINEWOOD SMILE - RELEASED OCTOBER 6th THROUGH COOKING VINYL
BRAND NEW ALBUM

The Darkness have released their expletive-drenched new single ‘Solid Gold’ via Cooking Vinyl, accompanied by a video of the self-proclaimed rock legends performing in a huge aircraft hanger amongst a mass of glam-rock lighting and Marshall speaker stacks.

Frontman Justin Hawkins announces, “We have written this song to reassure you all that having now released more music in the period after our well publicised hiatus than in the period before it, we have no intention whatsoever of stopping. Hence the lyric "We're never gonna stop... Shitting out solid gold". Barring any unforeseen circumstances, The Darkness will always be here to delight and beguile. You're welcome.”

An absolute monster of a rock song, ‘Solid Gold’ takes no prisoners whatsoever, taking direct aim at the music industry and addressing record companies, egos and the insincerity that comes with it. It will make uncomfortable listening for A&R men everywhere…

“There's a guy coming down from Sony / Artist and Repertoire
If he likes what he hears in those stupid ears / I can buy myself a faster car
Blowing smoke up our arses / Everything we do is ace
He wants to wine and dine us / He's desperate to sign us
Cos we melted his fucking face”

Well, you don’t get that from Ed Sheeran!

‘Solid Gold’ is the latest single to be taken from The Darkness’ forthcoming album Pinewood Smile, out October 6th through Cooking Vinyl.

It follows the release of the glorious, hard-rockin’, autobiographical lead single ‘All The Pretty Girls’. Both singles are available on all streaming platforms and also available for download with pre-orders of the album for the instant gratification of fans. Click here for details: https://TheDarkness.lnk.to/PS

Pinewood Smile finds The Darkness on electrifying form, delivering some of the most sharp-witted, infectious, humorous and downright brilliant songs of their career. The album is also the first to feature the drumming and vocal talents of new band member Rufus Tiger Taylor, son of Queen legend Roger Taylor, who shares vocal duties with Justin on two of the tracks.

To celebrate the release of Pinewood Smile, The Darkness will be touring extensively at the end of this year playing 17 dates in the UK throughout November and December including a headline show at London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on December 10th. The shows are part of a wider European tour, full dates can be found at http://www.thedarknesslive.com/tour-dates/
