Watch the stripped 'Invincible' video here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AJhlKSKjqk With her heavy duty pop songs that fizz with rock ’n’ roll energy and bare bones emotion, MY is here to drag pop into the moshpit and steal our hearts at the same time. The 24 year old Swedish singer and songwriter is, depending on your preference, akin to Paramore’s Hayley Williams as produced by Max Martin or My Chemical Romance fronted by Katy Perry, all coated with a layer of Swedish noir. Her debut track Invincible is available now on Relentless Records. Co-written with Mike Duce of Lower Than Atlantis, Invincible was recorded in the UK last year and is a tale of strength and empowerment. MY explains; “I wrote Invincible with my friend Mike Duce, and the producer team Laconic. In the beginning the song was about being strong and independent, but it’s also about being with someone who empowers you. It could be a friend, a faith, or even an interest that makes you feel great. Main message: surround yourself with a love that makes you feel wonderful and epic.” Born and raised in a small village in rural Sweden, the daughter of the preacher from the local chapel, MY sings of life and love with brutal honesty and a dark edge. Raised on a diet of Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills and Nash and of course ABBA, and later discovering Nirvana, My Chemical Romance and bands like Refused from the local hardcore scene, MY’s love of both the hard and soft ends of the sonic spectrum goes way back to her childhood. Now, with over 70 songs recorded in between her home base of Stockholm and London, including the awesomely aggro ‘Don’t Tell My Heart’ and out-of-control ‘White Water’, MY has to embark on the unenviable task of whittling them down for her debut album, due for release next year. Honesty, dark lyrics, social conscience, guitars and animals, wrapped up in pop songs. This is MY. A new pop force has arrived. MY’s debut single ‘Invincible’ is available to buy now on iTunes and to stream on Spotify. https://www.facebook.com/OHHEYMY/ http://www.twitter.com/OHHEYMY http://www.instagram.com/OHHEYMY British blues rockers The Thinking Men are currently having their latest EP, “Queen Of The Ravens”, streamed over at Never Enough Notes ahead of their July 30th release date! When asked recently about the EP title, which is also the name of the lead single, the band said: “We enjoy delving into the darkest recesses of man’s mind, a place that remains hidden from the majority of the world. What you tend to discover is that emotions, such as love, often have many faces, some of which are a lot darker and more sinister than the popular societal conception of love would lead you to believe. So, ‘Queen Of The Ravens’ is about dispelling popular myths concerning love by highlighting its potential to psychologically torture.” The full EP can be streamed here - http://www.neverenoughnotes.co.uk/2016/06/nen-exclusive-the-thinking-men-preview-new-ep-streaming-queen-of-the-ravens-in-full/ The Thinking Men were formed by Johnny Raspin (guitar and vocals) and Ronnie Smith (lead guitar). As a duo they began writing and performing together, but were soon joined by Sarah Raspin (keyboards & backing vocals), Matt Rowe (drums & backing vocals) and Duncan Samwell (double bass). Described as “Gritty and seductive bluesy rock” by The Blue Walrus, this exciting Norwich quintet have been working hard cultivating and maturing their sound accumulating in their latest offering. They have carved out a somewhat unique sound, harking back to the swinging 60’s, but with a contemporary, modern feel. Channelling inspiration from the likes of Tom Waits, Nick Cave, The Doors and Jack White the band have seen their popularity grow and have built up a steady following locally, often selling out venues. The Thinking Men have become reputable for their eccentric, unpredictable and theatrical live performances that simply enthral and captivate their audiences with infectious, foot stomping anthems that reverberate throughout the auditorium. A must see live act that doesn’t disappoint, from the first note to the final chord! They began attracting more attention in 2013, picking up Future Radio’s Next Big Thing award. While building their scintillating live reputation, the band have also produced a number of self-releases. Most notably their 2014 EP, “Ululate”. Which was mastered by Joe Laporta of Sterling Sound (The Killers, Foo Fighters & Imagine Dragons). They also continued to get busy on the live circuit; scoring spots on a number of festivals, including The Secret Garden Party, VW Whitenoise, Symmetry & Red Rooster. Elsewhere, the band racked up support slots with Molotov Jukebox (fronted by Game of Thrones actress Natalia Tena), The Weeks, Doors Alive & Kill It Kid. Their most recent home town show in Norwich at the famed Norwich Arts Centre was a sold out affair. All of which has led to their latest release; “Queen Of The Ravens EP”! In support of the new record, the quintet are set to hit the stage again this summer. With a slot at Festival Too, one of Europe's largest free festivals, and a support with The Wonderstuff. It’s an exciting moment for The Thinking Men. Time to come along for the ride! Steve ‘n’ Seagulls are back with new studio album, ‘Brothers In Farms’, set for a September 9th release on Spinefarm Records! The follow-up to 2015’s ‘Farm Machine’, also issued via Spinefarm, this latest outing sees these Finnish sons of the soil delving into the world of original material for the first time, although the majority of the tracks continue to be covers of rock & metal classics… indeed, the lead single / video has now been confirmed as a ‘hillbillified’ version of Iron Maiden's ‘Aces High’; this is slated for digital release on July 21st, with the video following on August 3rd. Not only are these skilled musicians a genuine YouTube sensation, notching up tens of millions of views, they have also taken their ‘badass bluegrass’ all over the world, showing that their signature re-workings can be extremely effective, both live and on record. Last year, there was an official ‘Steve ‘n’ Seagulls Day’ in Colorado, USA, and the band will be returning Stateside for a comprehensive run of headline dates this autumn. In terms of the UK, the following headline shows have been lined up in support of ‘Brothers In Farms’:- 14-Nov Brighton, Haunt 15-Nov London, Bush Hall 16-Nov Cardiff, Globe 17-Nov Glasgow, Cathouse 18-Nov Manchester, Deaf Institute Never Mind The Bullocks. Let the bluegrass metal mayhem continue! Denmark's Halshug announces their second full-length Sort Sind, set for release via Southern Lord29/6/2016 Ahead of their set at Roskilde Festival this coming weekend, Copenhagen’s Halshug have announced the completion of their new album, ready for an autumn release through Southern Lord. Halshug’s second studio full-length, "Sort Sind" delivers ten ripping new tracks, each a reflection on fragments of the human experience expressed in the form of hardcore punk, the album’s title translating to ‘Black Mind.’ A bruising record, Sort Sind revs up motorcycle-fuelled d-beat akin to Austin-based Impalers and other contemporaries, and retains the grating raw punk that made their "Blodets Bånd" debut so potent, the songs showing an even more destructive and elevated approach to their songwriting. Recorded live, produced and mixed at Ballade Studios in Copenhagen by Lasse Ballade, who also produced and mixed "Blodets Bånd", the "Sort Sind" LP was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. "Sort Sind" is based on the band’s experiences growing up in neglected parts of Denmark in the last twenty years, and their intention is to make great ripping hardcore punk music that people can get off too; to contribute to their scene and get listeners moving with their energy. Catch a bit of live Halshug footage, and stream their Southern Lord debut, "Blodets Bånd", via Bandcamp. Southern Lord will release Halshug’s "Sort Sind" on CD, LP, and digital platforms in Autumn, with a confirmed street date, as well as the cover art, track listing, audio samples, and much more from the album to be presented over the coming months. In the meantime, Halshug are gearing up to perform at Denmark’s mammoth Roskilde Festival this weekend, preceded by a set at K-Town Festival and other performances, and are now booking new live shows advancing the release of the Sort Sind LP. The band will play in their home-town of Copenhagen supporting Los Crudos in July, and will make their maiden trek to the US late this Summer for an East Coast tour. Stand by for new live dates to be announced shortly. 7/16/2016 Ungdomshuset – Copenhagen, DK w/ Los Crudos www.facebook.com/halshugcph halshug.blogspot.co.uk halshug.bandcamp.com www.southernlord.com |
