While Nepal is known mostly for its Himalayan mountain range, beautiful landscapes and unique culture, it is also a hotbed for one of Asia's heaviest music scenes. Over the last 2 decades, the country has churned out quality bands in every genre from death metal to powe-rviolence. The result of which is Neck Deep In Filth, which represents members from different music scenes of Nepal, joined together to create a bludgeoning, powerful sound that will appeal to fans of both hardcore punk and extreme metal. However, the band also holds a political edge, as the lyrical content is written in a way to make outsiders aware that this little mountain country isn't as peaceful as it seems. Their first single was recently premiered on Unite Asia, along with an interview that chronicles the history of the Nepali scene. Unite Asia premieres "Praise The Tyrant": https://uniteasia.org/interviewpremiere-nepal-hardcore-band-neck-deep-filth-speak-us-debut-ep/ Neck Deep In Filth was formed in 2016 when members of various Kathmandu-based punk, hardcore, and death metal bands came together to play politically-driven hardcore/punk. Members Vishal (vocals) and Sushil (bass) were a part of one of the first Nepali punk rock band, Inside 2 Stoopid Triangles, which also contained members of US grindcore band Chepang at the time. The two also share a past in metallic hardcore juggernauts Jugaa whereas guitarist Sandesh and drummer Sanjay were recruited from Squirtguns and Asphyxiate respectively. Having initially met through shows and sharing practice spaces, since Kathmandu is such a small place, the band quickly settled in together and began to forge a sound that is reminiscent of the dark hardcore of Integrity, Cursed, Alpinist as well as the violent rage of Left For Dead, Haymaker & Sick of it All. The band takes influences from different ends of the extreme music spectrum to create an unrelenting, punishing wall of sound with tremolo riffs, breakdowns, blast-beats and frantic screaming – all packaged in a very mid-90’s style production. The EP was recorded in their rehearsal spaces while their bassist Sushil recorded, mixed & mastered the material, resulting in a sound that is definitive of what DIY means in the third world. To promote the upcoming release of the EP, the band has played some well-received shows in their city, which boasts one of the best metal & punk scenes in South Asia. Self-released CDs of the EP will be released when NDIF plays The Pit on Sept 9. The artwork is made by Dib Gurung, known for his work with Chepang, and reflects the strong political views of the bands by showing a member of a minority community surrounded by bullets and the Nepali flag. As vocalist Vishal puts it - “We’re living in a society filled with racists, misogynists, and hate filled ultranationalists. We’re surrounded by scum. Hence, Neck Deep In Filth.” Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/neckdeepinfilth/ Bandcamp: https://neckdeepinfilth.bandcamp.com/releases Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR4R6XQxM9zrAS3ZAxPcm_g

London, UK based Hardcore / Punk Rock band Death Koolaid have released the Official Music Video for their newest single "Kids". This second track off of their upcoming Vol. 2 album, set to release 8/25/2016, was directed by Brendan Cleaves and filmed by Heath McWalters, and premiered on idobi.com. We wanted to make a video that was conceptually simple, but with a strong message – although we were keen not to completely spell it out for people. We try to make our videos as interesting as possible and this one is definitely our most out-there ideas; a bunch of terrified and bewildered children running away from what appears to be a backstreet place of worship. It’s basically a direct translation of our band’s philosophy, caricaturing the power of ideology, fear, and control. - Death Koolaid https://www.facebook.com/DeathKoolaid Denmark's Halshug announces their second full-length Sort Sind, set for release via Southern Lord29/6/2016 Ahead of their set at Roskilde Festival this coming weekend, Copenhagen’s Halshug have announced the completion of their new album, ready for an autumn release through Southern Lord. Halshug’s second studio full-length, "Sort Sind" delivers ten ripping new tracks, each a reflection on fragments of the human experience expressed in the form of hardcore punk, the album’s title translating to ‘Black Mind.’ A bruising record, Sort Sind revs up motorcycle-fuelled d-beat akin to Austin-based Impalers and other contemporaries, and retains the grating raw punk that made their "Blodets Bånd" debut so potent, the songs showing an even more destructive and elevated approach to their songwriting. Recorded live, produced and mixed at Ballade Studios in Copenhagen by Lasse Ballade, who also produced and mixed "Blodets Bånd", the "Sort Sind" LP was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. "Sort Sind" is based on the band’s experiences growing up in neglected parts of Denmark in the last twenty years, and their intention is to make great ripping hardcore punk music that people can get off too; to contribute to their scene and get listeners moving with their energy. Catch a bit of live Halshug footage, and stream their Southern Lord debut, "Blodets Bånd", via Bandcamp. Southern Lord will release Halshug’s "Sort Sind" on CD, LP, and digital platforms in Autumn, with a confirmed street date, as well as the cover art, track listing, audio samples, and much more from the album to be presented over the coming months. In the meantime, Halshug are gearing up to perform at Denmark’s mammoth Roskilde Festival this weekend, preceded by a set at K-Town Festival and other performances, and are now booking new live shows advancing the release of the Sort Sind LP. The band will play in their home-town of Copenhagen supporting Los Crudos in July, and will make their maiden trek to the US late this Summer for an East Coast tour. Stand by for new live dates to be announced shortly. 7/16/2016 Ungdomshuset – Copenhagen, DK w/ Los Crudos www.facebook.com/halshugcph halshug.blogspot.co.uk halshug.bandcamp.com www.southernlord.com Southern Lord are releasing the blazing debut album "Rutiinin Orja" from incendiary Helsinki hardcore punk band Kohti Tuhoa this July, releasing it on LP, CD and digital formats, the CD version also contains their 7" which precedes this. There’s no time wasted on this record as it speeds past in under twenty minutes. Irresistible pogo beats and pit parts pile on top of each other with reckless abandon, and thick waves of drum rolls provide a dangerous velocity over which Discharge influenced guitars chug and wail. Helena’s wide ranging vocals delivered in the band’s native language are unmistakeable and intimidating even to non-Finnish natives, layered up an intense degree and teetering between fearsome and fascinating. Recognisable traits of other bands, such as the Japanese masters of noise dbeat attack Framtid and Hispanic kings of the fast ‘n’ angry Los Crudos, find their way in to the Kohti Tuhoa sound, and fans of Oakland’s RAD and Chile / Austria’s Ruidosa Immundicia will have an instant infatuation with the sheer might of Rutiinin Orja. Punk bible Maximum Rocknroll are already shouting their name, and you are well advised to hear the furious sounds of Finnish hardcore punk at its current best – barbed, destructive and viciously catchy. Southern Lord shall release "Rutiinin Orja" on 29th July, further updates about this release shall be shared in the coming weeks. https://kohtituhoa.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/kohtituhoa/ www.southernlord.com southernlord.bandcamp.com www.facebook.com/SLadmin twitter.com/twatterlord Tokyo, Japan-based Vivisick will issue their ravenous "Nuked Identity" full-length on vinyl next month via Tankcrimes. The vinyl edition of "Nuked Identity", which will come available in three colour variations (splatter, clear and blue), was mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound and will be available via Tankcrimes Records on April 15th, 2016.
