US Indie rockers Broncho stream 'I Know You' ahead of 'Double Vanity' album launch on June 17th28/5/2016 Oklahoma’s Broncho have released ‘I Know You’, a stirring new track from their forthcoming "Double Vanity" LP, due June 17th via Dine Alone Records. Where tracks like ‘Señora Borealis’ and ‘Fantasy Boys’ arrived sensual, moody, with a sly, bad boy sneer and predatory swagger, ‘I Know You’ continues to mine the heart. “One guy in the band got married, another got divorced. So in this song we are weighing the pros and cons of marriage,” guitarist and frontman Ryan Lindsey explains of the romantic ideals behind the chugging guitar haze. "Double Vanity" is an album that sees Lindsey and bandmates Ben King, Nathan Price and Penny Pitchlynn vigorously striding ahead, transforming the raw angst of their first record, "Can't Get Past the Lips", and their irresistible second LP, "Just Enough Hip To Be Woman", into a sound decidedly more layered and complex. Tracks like ‘New Karma’ and ‘Two Step’ riff off the later explorations of punk, culling up refracted images of John Hughes prom nights, love songs echoing from a boombox held high. Elsewhere ‘I Know You’ is simultaneously infectious and brooding, but somehow both exalting and heartsick. "Just Enough Hip To Be Woman" saw fantastic success, with the infectious ‘Class Historian’ single spending over a month on the playlist at BBC 6Music. The record was dubbed “fresh and invigorating” by the NME, “unequivocally strong in their near mastery of sunny melodies and deft pop sensibilities” by Consequence Of Sound, and received further acclaim from The Independent, Noisey, Mojo and more. Their subsequent debut European tour saw sold-out shows across the capital.
Broncho are set to tour America through May and June with Cage The Elephant and will land in the UK for a full tour this autumn. Pre-order "Double Vanity" on iTunes here and receive an instant download of previously released tracks ‘Señora Borealis’ and ‘Fantasy Boys’. facebook.com/bronchoband

London indie-punk trio Happy Accidents have got a rather big summer planned, announcing their signing to Alcopop! Records and the forthcoming release of their debut album "You Might Be Right", which will be revealed to the world on 1st July. This accompanies a rather enviable string of tour dates in mainland Europe and a run of UK festivals. Drawing influence from The Thermals, The Pixies, as well as their peers in the UK’s thriving DIY scene, they kick off with a video from the album’s first cut, Leaving Parties Early - which will be released in early April. If there was one song on the record that could truly define Happy Accidents, this new single would be the one. With sugar-coated choruses and ‘four to the floor’ disco drums, the band’s sonic urgency may speak volumes on its own; but the disparity between the music and the lyrics showcases the great dichotomy of Happy Accidents. Dealing with matters such as anxiety and societal pressures, the song raises questions of identity within the context of attending parties where 'you don’t quite know if you fit in'. This contrast runs throughout the record, with the band pairing introspective lyrics with the biggest hooks they can muster. Rich from the band elaborates on the track:- “Leaving Parties Early is about the coping mechanisms I go through when put into situations where I’m not completely comfortable. I wrote it after coming home from another terrible club night, trying my best to have a great time, while simultaneously never entertaining the idea that it might just not be for me. It was all part of learning that it’s okay to have a different idea of fun to those who surround us, and that personal preference is a wonderful thing!” Formed by brothers Rich and Neil Mandell and Phoebe Cross back in 2014, Happy Accidents craft the kind of earworms that will be rattling round your head for months to come – fusing their deep-seated love of 90s punk and indie, whilst still managing to sound as fresh as any of their contemporaries. Quickly making a name for themselves in DIY punk circles, they’ve shared stages with the likes of The Front Bottoms, Martha, Muncie Girls, and countless others. Following the positive reception to their self-released EP, the band took the collective decision to move beyond the home recording equipment and travelled to Leeds’ Greenmount Studios to record their all-important first album. The result is 30 minutes that neatly encapsulates what the band is all about. Packed with effervescent hook-laden melodies, bouncing bass lines and choruses to live for - this is intelligent, immediate pop. But dig a little deeper into Rich’s self-effacing lyrics and you’ll see there’s a more intensely personal edge to their output. Though intensely personal, the album’s charismatic delivery and witty turn of phrase effortlessly turns these tales of personal struggle into a triumphant affair. With Rich noting that “It’s a record about overcoming the times where uncertainty is too much to handle, which is why we called it ‘You Might Be Right, there’s still a bit of ambiguity there, but optimism wins out in the end”. It’s in this fine balance where Happy Accidents find their strength. By interweaving day-to-day difficulties with addictive pop hits, the album truly comes alive – transcending an undeniably exceptional pop record, to become something a little bit more special. You Might be Right will sneak into your consciousness from the first listen, like it or not! TOUR DATES -

Recorded at London's The Church and Pool studios, and mixed by Dan Grech-Marguerat, Every Cell is one of three new Arthur Beatrice tracks to feature the Children of Kingdom Gospel Choir. The video was filmed at the world famous RAK Studios and directed by Josh Renaut. Every Cell is arguably the standout track of a second record brimming with invention by this consistently evolving young British band. It’s a multi-layered song that doesn’t comfortably slip into easy categorisation, drawing influence from a diverse and eclectic range of artists, yet sounding wholly fresh and exciting. In support of Keeping The Peace’s release, Arthur Beatrice follow their twin sell-out shows in London and Paris last month with a European tour. CeaseTone will make their SXSW debut this March in Austin, TX. CeaseTone overcame 150 bands to win the 2015 All Tomorrow’s Parties Unsigned Talent Competition and enjoyed watching “Full Circle” head to #17 of Iceland’s top music chart. CeaseTone will accompany Icelandic folkster Axel Flovent on a March tour of the U.S. surrounding their SXSW appearance. CeaseTone are comprised of Hafsteinn Þráinsson (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir (drums), Jökull Brynjarsson (synths, samples, keyboard), and Steinar Karlsson (bass). Recent reviews point to the band’s dynamic and captivating live show that audiences at SXSW are sure to enjoy. Tónlist.de raves that “CeaseTone’s indie rock, decorated with electronic sounds, is powerful and the live sets are energetic." According to Þráinsson, the figure in the “Bright Side” video goes through an interpretation of mental struggle, “looking for the bright side which seems to be visible, but is always just out of reach.” Þráinsson had the concept for the video, but didn't know anyone who could complete the project in time: “I did, however, know how to cut out paper and take pictures with a camera, so I figured I could just make it analog stop motion. I used that to my advantage in getting a raw and humble visualization of a concept that came straight from the heart.” CeaseTone will perform several showcases at SXSW and are available for pre-festival interviews. More information on CeaseTone is available on their official website. |
